I'm a college student, and my school has a filter on the wifi which blocks things like social media for some of the day. Worst of all access to every VPN I've tried has been blocked, so I can't even use them to get around it. Does anyone know any creative solutions, or any (relatively cheap, I'm a student remember) VPNs that can't be blocked? Any help would be great, just let me know if you need to know more to help out. Thanks all, Button_200.

I know someone posted a similar topic but the people who replied did not go into depth on how to fix my problem; So my school managed to completely block vpn apps like 'vpn master' from connecting to vpn servers, is their anyway to get around this at all?

Hello, I encountered an issue when I tried to get HP smart app for my printer. The Microsoft Store app won't let me download. It gave an error saying that there are no devices to install on. I looked up some solutions online and couldn't really get a definite answer. One post recommended to edit something in "Services" but when I tried to open services, I was blocked by Admin. I don't really know how that can happen since I am Admin and the only user on this PC. I checked user settings and it still says that I'm Administrator, but the message still pops up for some programs. I've tried turning off UAC, but the pop up still goes up when I try to open Services. I tried net user administrator to go and use the built in admin, but it can't do anything to change my actual user since it's already saying that it is admin. Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening?

So I just got myself a second pc for streaming, however I can't for the love of GOD get it to work. The problem is, the computer is blocking twitch when it's connected to my gaming pc and getting shared internet through this connection. But it's ONLY blocking twitch. Every other website is just fine, I just can't stream or even load and watch other people's streams. If I plug it into the router, everything is fine, it can stream to twitch and watch streams and everything. Why the hell is the cross-crable connection blocking twitch and ONLY twitch?????

My university blocks nearly all VPNs I use and anytime I find a new VPN, it seems to get blocked within a few days to weeks. I was wondering if there was anyway to get around this, or an alternative to unblocking websites.

First off, love the Linus Tech Tips channel... It has reached me so much in the past few months about computers. Thanks linus! Alright. Can someone who knows a lot about IT answer this? I have a phone, and its blocked via Access control on my parents' netgear router. Before it got blocked I was using a VPN. But my dad apparently blocked it... And I never knew until I turned off the VPN. Thing is I can access it the internet just fine with the VPN. I can't access the router via its IP address. But I can use the internet almost as well as I could without. But here's the thing... He blocked my PC as well... And I installed a VPN on it.. And tried to use it. It didn't work. Yes I'm being rebellious towards my parents. Teens do that. I'm not looking for a solution... I'm looking for an honest answer as to how this is even possible. Btw: Android phone Windows 10 PC PC specs: (don't judge its handmedown hardware) Thinkserver rd230 mobo Xeon e5645 @2.4ghz 32GB RAM Gtx 1050 ti (only thing bought by me) TPlink wireless N pcie adapter [Edit]: Wow I'm really surprised people are actually answering this. I figured it would take days. Thank you guys for taking time out from your life and answering! I appreciate it! ?

*link removed* My school uses Lightspeed Rocket Firewall. I created my website in like 5 minutes and put it back up one night. The next day I go to school and I go to my website and it's blocked. My website was probably blocked because it has a .TK domain but it's like 29 lines of HTML, it is completely safe and appropriate.

I know this is a cheesy question and many kids in school whine and complain about it, but, is there a known way to bypass the Light speed User Agent? I have a school offered Chromebook and now that I have a job, I am needing to access my other email. Even at my house it is blocked. I honestly hate my school district because of how "You like this, we block this" they are over the technology. I just need this because I cannot use my phone in school do to there not being service and the one place there is a "public" WiFi signal, it is restricted AF. BUT... When I take my personal laptop to school and plug DIRECTLY in to a network switch or wall socket, nothing is blocked.

Just got blocked on Twitter by @paulshardware for suggesting imprisoning people who've never been suspected (at least by anyone in actual authority), let alone convicted, of any crime might be a bit fascist. Granted, political prisoners are common in any authoritarian regime be it fascist, communist, etc. but, whereas communism disallows any personal gain whatsoever requiring all be equally(at least in theory) sustained by the state, fascism simply requires that all individuals be governed/regulated/controlled for the greater good of the state(Socialism would have you replace the word "state" with "people" but, as history has shown us time and again, both ultimately refer to an elitist oligarchy who believe themselves better able to profitably control their fellow people's lives than they are themselves). Fortunately, we live in a democratic republic and, though we daily grow closer to the socialist ideal so wonderfully envisioned in "1984", we have not yet reached the point where prosecutors are above the law and people may be imprisoned for making a living or expressing an opinion that does not tip its hat to the powers-that-be. Suggesting that they should be, regardless of what flavor of authoritarian govt. you ascribe to(knowingly or not), is dangerous in a way that no-one whose family has not been subject to a midnight knock on the door from the "authorities" can understand. If believe people to be guilty of a crime, find proof and bring it to the authorities. Suspicion is not guilt and the intimation that such should be sufficient grounds for punishment is a very dangerous and slippery slope indeed. It's not funny.

I am currently in college and I have a question that I have not been able to answer. If I plug my computer into the wall outlet in my dorm then Steam is able to connect and function properly. However, if I plug my router in and plug my computer into the router, it will not connect to save my life. The router is an Asus RT-N66R running stock firmware. I had flashed it with DD-WRT, assuming this was the problem I flashed it back to stock but this did not fix the problem. I have tried port forwarding through the router on both firmwares but to no avail. I can live without the router but I enjoy having my own private WiFi signal. I could use a switch and run both but I plan to implement a PLEX server soon which for security reasons I want it to only work on my LAN which requires my computer to stay connected to the router. Any info would be appreciated. Should I go and talk with IT and see if they know why? Thanks, Mark

Has anyone experienced a problem as of late? my desktop and my macbook have both given the same posts even on different networks. When opening spotify it will either give this post or it will ask me to log in. As soon as I do log in i get the same post. I am thinking a patch got rolled out and its bugged. I have disabled my firewall for giggles and got the same post. Looks like I will just need to wait for a new patch to roll out.

The school I go to (and will soon be leaving) has always had stringent policies on web browsing that has caused somewhere around 75% of all websites to be blocked. It got worse ever since we were given iPads, and to my horror, even LTT was blocked at the beginning of the school year, despite the fact that I was able to access it the spring beforehand. But, today, a helpful classmate showed me an interesting way of bypassing it. All I have to do is go to translate.google.com, enter the URL of the website I want to go to, and BAM. I can access it. Unfortunately, there are three limitations that I am aware of so far. The first is that most, but not all, images fail to load. I dunno why that is. File types, maybe? Secondly, if I use a search function on a website that is normally blocked, such as Amazon or eBay, the resultant search is blocked. I can still browse, though. Third, I can't log in to LTT or change the theme. So, I can still read everything while I'm at school, but I can't talk. (Not that I do it much anyway.) And for those of you wondering, the filter still affects our iPads when we're at home. ):

Recently my dad decided to restrict my internet useage ( I'm 14). Youtube is blocked and I can only use it for two hours a day from 8 a.m-8 p.m. So it got me thinking that I could just get a different wifi card or wifi stick.... would this get me the unrestricted useage again? So far I know it is only locked onto one mac adress right? can I change that adress? cheers, chicksoup

My roommate is evil. He is just tech savvy enough to block my computer from certain websites, most notably youtube (Nooo!). He has blocked me from websites because "I'm taking up too much bandwidth" and "he lags when he plays LoL". We live in an apartment together at college. If I choose to watch youtube to relax in between classes I should be able to. Right? I pay rent. I deserve the internet just as much as he does. But no I affect his crummy video game. If he really wants to play it I would browse less demanding websites, but he chooses to ban me outright instead. He owns the router and therefore has a chokehold on what I can do on the internet. At the begining of the year he set up a whitelist so that I could even use the router. This means that he has my computer's IP and he can set it up so that when my IP tries to connect to youtube it denies me access. Any tech solutions would be appreciated, but I'm not limiting responses to tech solutions, devious revenge ideas would be fun too.

Hey guys, I was gonna post this in networking, but since the possibility of how off topic this can be, here it is. so this issue is something I've had recent experience with, I used to live in US, then AU, and now Indonesia. I realized how messed up the internet here is, plenty of censorship, blocked domains - and I'd like to say propagandas. I only say this of course, because they put up this wonderful image It stated there "to provide internet sehat" that means healthy internet, under that it says "apabila anda merasa situs yang dikunjungi tidak bertentangan dengan program pemerintah, silahkan hubungi customer support kami" which means: If you think the site you're visiting does not conflict against the government, please contact our customer support. am I the only one who think this is messed up? I mean, I still get through anyway, but I mean - am I wrong in the idea of this is unacceptable?
