Hi, I just bought razer blade pro 17 2021 model and would like to expand it's RAM to 64GB (need it for virtual machines and development) (https://www.razer.com/eu-en/gaming-laptops/Razer-Blade-Pro-17/RZ09-0368BEA2-R3E1) I cannot find any specs regarding which ram (speed, latency, model) is best for upgrade. Could you point me in the right direction?

Hi all, Was wondering if I could pick the brains on this forum about 1.8” Micro SATA SSDs… Recently completed a buyback from a customer who had Dell blades with 1.8” SSDs. This format doesn’t seem to be particularly popular in the enterprise world, so I’ve tried using a few adaptors/converters on eBay but the performance is woeful…talking 500kilobytes a second (write/read). Which is at odds with 6G SATA! The ideal solution would be to mount these in a 2.5” enclosure, which could be accepted in a standard PC or install a tray for a server. Does anyone out there know of a solid converter or recommend any action with this these?

Hey there! So my girlfriend is a 3D generalist freelancer, and she's been running into a lot of limitations working on her 2020 Razer Blade with 16gb of RAM, so instead of buying a new laptop I suggested we can just add more to the current one. We're looking at buying 2x32gb DDR4 SO-DIMM sticks. I just wanted to double check here first though, since I never really attempted to upgrade any hardware on a laptop before... is there anything else we need to consider here? For example, how can we be sure the laptop actually supports 64gb of ram? Outside of that, the same applies here as on a workstation right, that is, basically all DDR4 SO-DIMM sticks will work as long as the memory amount is accepted by the device? Some general guidelines here would be very helpful before we go and spend $400 on ram sticks and void the laptop warranty, thanks!

CHAPTER ONE: Chrome Blade Its year 2050 in Oscary, A nation so wide that it occupies 40% Of Jatune, Oscary has mostly open fields and forests that Farms occupies the country's economy by 70%. Oscary, Thedos, My hometown, in the light of day I walked home from my school, Whitefield High School, a renowned high school in Oscary known for its advanced Electronics, it's also a privately run school funded by Alpha Networks, one of the leading Companies in technology in Oscary and also the developer of RealOS. RealOS is known for its capabilities to make the user see 3 Dimensional Objects rendered in real-time in real life with a glasses, Although expensive, its exquisite abilities makes the game industry fly high at this century. As I walked from school to the Whitefield Platform, The Train arrived like usual and everything was normal. I saw some Tough guys from my class in the Train heckling one of my friend, I really wanted to interrupt and try to be the hero but to step in their way is to step on fire. The Jocks in my grades are huge guys who date most of the pretty girls in school, they have hold the power to the school even sometimes the teacher bow downs to them, I hate them. The Jocks went on asking for money from us in the train but right before he approached me, I arrived at my destination. Walking home through the slums of Downtown Oscary, "Reed, Come over for some ramen will you?" Mr. Park shouted from his shop, Mr. Park's Ramen is pretty delicious in its own taste, I usually have them while playing games. Arriving at home I went straight to my room booting up my Computer, a three monitor wide setup with a high end cupholder, took me a few years of saving up. I changed my clothes while my Computer booted up. Sat back and relax for a few seconds then I log in to my user account, I opened my email and got a message saying that the new Chrome Blade, a game that is massively played by users around the world, is getting a new update. Chrome Blade is an Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game or MMORPG, High praised by critics this game is rated the best around, started from 2045, Chrome Blade updates are improving time by time from patches to Do-over that can take up massive amounts of space. Chrome Blade is about hunting monsters and boss fights, implementing highest teamwork requirements. As soon as I read that mail I called my friends, Tara, to spread the news "Tara! Oh my god, did you hear about the Onyx Heroes update? I heard theyre going to step up their graphics" "Oh yeah Reed I got that mail on the train but I didn’t get to check it. Damn jocks…" I calmed down after telling my Best Friend, Tara. Me and Tara met in Chrome Blade in the early days of its release, I loved the game and so does he, we chatted and fought together. When we were playing we felt like we were in the world even though its only on our monitor we can feel the flow of the battle in our fingertips, In Chrome Blade me and Tara were one of the Highest Ranked Player in the Oscary Server. Chrome Blade has a basic leveling system, the higher you get the more powerful you strike, There are 3 basic class: Warrior, Archer, and Caster. Each class has its unique abilities, and at level 10 you get to choose your sub-class that can improve your role at the battlefield. I was a Warrior with the Subclass Samurai, Tara was a Caster with the Subclass Sorcerer. Samurai is specialized in the art of war and tactics, it doesn’t take much damage like the Vanguard Subclass, Samurai's Katana is a Two Handed Weapon with balance to speed and damage. Me and Tara formed a Guild called "Jolly Shadows" One of the most powerful guilds in the whole game, we were proud of it. Not soon we left the clan to grow and we've gone solo. Guild Wars happened here and there and The Jolly Shadows often come by to say hi to me. Tara was luckily my classmate so we had a easy reach of communication outside of the Game.

I am in need to upgrade my razer blade 15 base mid 2021 to at least 32gb memory however I am not sure of the best and most compatible competitors of the SODIMM market. I was looking at these corsair modules (as I am a sucker for brand recognition) which seems like a pretty good deal to me and am most likely to get this. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-Vengeance-RAM-32GB-DDR4/dp/B08GSTF5NJ/ref=sr_1_14?keywords=64gb%2Bddr4%2B3200%2Bsodimm&qid=1674028601&sprefix=64gb%2Bddr4%2B3200%2Caps%2C92&sr=8-14&th=1 I would otherwise go for G-Skill or Kingston Fury 32gb however they're out of stock but do have 64gb in stock. If it's worth the plunder I would consider 64gb however 32gb is more than enough for me personally What are the thoughts on these particular modules and the compatibility?

Hey everyone, Long time LTT fan but new to the forums. I am trying to combine the drives on my Razer Blade 15 (2019) and am wondering if anyone has some advice/experience doing so. From the research I have done it appears my options are a spanned or striped volume. Striped would be ideal except for the large difference between the size of the drives at 500GB to 2TB. What I want is to be able to save things on my computer without having to worry about which drive I am using. Spanned would get the job done but I don't love the idea of completely filling one drive up before I can move on to the other. Ideally I would like a solution that would save to both drives while favoring the SSD on frequently loaded files while using the HDD for long term storage. Any insight or new ideas would be appreciated. Thanks,

Hi: I have accumulated some LGA1366 server and workstation parts and complete systems, and find myself intrigued by the HP, Dell and other server blades that are available on the used server market. Full-fledged dual Xeon servers that cost little to buy, little to ship, and I have spare CPUs and RAM on-hand to get up and running? Sign me up! Well, one little problem... They are of course designed to plug into a proprietary chassis that provides power, connectivity, etc, etc. And while the blades are cheap, those housings are very much not. :-/ Does anybody have any experience with rigging these (hopefully of the LGA1366 generation) to where they can operate independently of the chassis? Or a pinout for the proprietary connectors that mate the two? A bit of a stretch, I know, but I like projects. :-) TIA >>>BULLET>>>

Hello Internet, Wasn't sure whether to post this here or under the "Display" sub-forum as you will find out soon. I currently stream on Twitch occasional but want to get more into it, however it's an utter ball-ache. Whilst at Uni I use my Razer Blade (Late 2016 GTX1060 4K... blah blah blah) and because of the resolution it is a nightmare to setup with my Razer Ripsaw capture device (when using my second laptop as the encoder) or even running OBS Studio on the Blade. As the 1060 can't run every game at 4K I run the majority of games at 1080p which requires me to change the input settings for the Ripsaw and OBS s it doesn't show "Out of Signal Range"; this means when I tab out of game or change games, the resolution changes and so it shows "Out of Signal Range" again... tab back into a game and it will show to be working again on OBS but the actual Twitch stream would have a frozen image and it would just have the audio. Is there a possible fix for this? If not do I just have to deal with it/buy a 1080p monitor. If the second is the case, when I head back home, I use a 1440p monitor... I was contemplating upgrading monitor anyway but now I'm thinking, do I get a 1080p G-Sync monitor instead of the colour accurate 1440p/4K one I would have? TLDR; Twitch stream dies when I alt-tab due to resolution changing from 1080p to the 4k native res of the desktop... Any fixes other than buying a 1080p monitor? Thanks in advanced

I am looking to buy a new laptop and have settled on the Razer Blade (14") with the UHD touch display. I need as much storage as I can get so the 1TB option is the obvious choice. However, the latest Blade with the UHD display and a 1TB SSD costs $2800. I can get the previous gen (6th gen intel rather than 7th) with a 256GB SSD for $2100 on Amazon. Should I take the plunge and buy the latest? Or should I save a few hundred dollars and buy the previous gen and get a 1TB upgrade for it? The final costs minus taxes would be $2800 vs $2580. Is the 7th gen Intel i7 really worth the extra money? (I really don't care about watching Netflix at 4K as I don't even have a Netflix account)

i bought a second hand razer blade pro 2012 just before christmas to use as my new school laptop which was going great until recently. i booted up my laptop to do some work and i had numerous "display driver has failed to initialize" messages and this was after installing a new nvidia driver, the laptop did that whenever i tried to do anything and would then crash with a white screen and a *tick* noise. since getting it to work i found very quickly the CPU fan was no longer spinning. after some DIY testing i found the fan does work but the PWM signal wasnt allowing the fan to work, as well as my laptop having a few issues when shutting down/restarting, it would rather do the white screen with the *tick* or just sit in a bugged sleep mode. through my testing i have come to the conclusion that the bios has gone bad but not 100% sure on what it could be. razer want over $1300 for repairs on a laptop i spend $1000 on and dont have money for a new laptop or repairs so im asking the LTT community if they have any ideas to what it could be or a copy of the bios i could use to reflash with. Thanks for any help! P.S it could possible make an interesting video linus...

Razer laptops seem to fail right and left. It seems to affect 2014-2015 models. It seems to affect many models. They seem to have bad mosfet issues. The newer models seem to have a lot of BSODs caused by the drives. One of the drive apparently is positioned on the board in a way that it overheats and fails causing BSOD. The drive issue affects the Pro 2016 models starting at close to $4000. Way to go Razer.

I saw this guy's interview with Louis Rossman on YouTube and decided to interview him. I think it's great that he's fixing these defects on Razer's machines for basically pennies on the dollar that they charge. http://www.notebookcheck.net/Specializing-in-Razer-laptops-enthusiast-repairman-aims-to-fix-what-Razer-can-t.195612.0.html

So I'm looking to get a 2016 Razer Blade (Yes, I'm aware of the hatred this forum has for the blade. I don't care, I've used one and love it. Thermals and sound didn't come off as a huge problem for my workload and I can't be near an overtly "gamery" looking laptop, so no, I'm not really open to alternatives). Anyway, so sorry for rant, I mean no disrespect, but I've seen 27 million posts trying to convince people not to buy Razer and figured I'd save you all the trouble. Anyway, my question is this: for extended trips without access to power, is it possible to charge the Blade 2016 from a USB-C or other power bank and if so, which one? There's very little information available online and some searches didn't really give me a conclusive answer. If it must be charged while not in use, that's fine. I'm totally good with closing the lid and sticking it in my backpack to charge, I just would love to know if this is possible so I can come up with a travel bag setup with a single power cord and several power banks for DSLR/video cameras/phones/laptop/perephirals and get that done around the same time I get the machine. Thanks a bunch guys!

Hoping someone can help me with this as I am so confused. Quite a few times my laptop will freeze up, nothing responds, i have to turn it off by holding the power button. I had linked this back due to it thermal throttling as in event viewer this is shown 4 times, 1 for each thread (The speed of processor 3 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 71 seconds since the last report.) So I went into the bios and disabled the turbo to help control the temperature, it worked for a little bit but it has happened again. This is the confusing part, Ive seen my temps hit 75 degrees (Celsius) and it wont crash, it just crashes when the temps are in the 50 degree to 60 degrees. Which is confusing because a system will shut down when it reaches the max TDP to prevent damage. Why is this happening and how can I stop it, the scenarios its happened in so far are Hangouts video call, Netflix streaming and just browsing. I make sure it can breathe everytime. And yes ive contacted support, I just want a second opinion

what do you think razer has in store for max q i would want a 14 inch blade with a 1080 i would buy that any day and if they could make it work some how with a gpu in the core as well that would be amazing but that is totaly not going to happen i think razer can do it if asus can make a 1080 laptop that small then the only thing holding razer back would be cooling but I think they would be able to come up with something smart

Hi LTT forum, I'm a long time quiet member who enjoys Linus' videos. I've never asked anything of you guys, never thought I would have to. I'm posting this in the hopes that people are informed on the state of Razers' customer support, and hopefully get someone that works at Razer to speed up my situation since it's been almost 2 months already, with an expected extra 2-3 weeks longer. TLDR: I have a Razer Blade 14 (2015) laptop that has been at one of there support centers for almost 2 months, to fix a cracked screen (and other smaller issues). Despite constant communication, they constantly inform me that x y and z things go wrong (the latest, a faulty screen replacement) and that they need to order new parts from Singapore which takes 2-3 weeks. So I bought my Razer Blade 14 (2015) in June of 2015 and it has served me great for the last 2 years. Unfortunately I cracked my screen, but I managed without the touchscreen for a year now and I got used to the cracked screen. The reason I decided to send it in was because they opened a European repair shop and that reduced the amount of time I would need to go without my laptop, which is near impossible as a student and going even a week without a laptop makes everything a lot harder. So I communicated with them and they told me that it usually takes 3-5 days. With this information, I waited until spring break and sent them my laptop with the hope that it would be returned before the end of the holidays. I was wrong, after sending them my laptop I was informed that the parts weren't available and they would order them from Singapore. Now, with that being said, it was my understanding that it wouldn't take too long. In the email it says that if the part isn't available, it takes "slightly longer". Slightly longer than 3-5 days doesn't mean 1 month. To them it apparently does. Fine, a month goes by and they inform me that the parts have arrived and the repair should be almost done at this point (9th of May) and according to them, 3-5 days after the 9th is maximum the 14th. On the 24th still no update, at this point I'm getting extremely impatient and I start calling them (the support line is only open from 1-3 pm (German time) every day so I plan accordingly and call them several times. The first response when I inform the guy on the support line of my situation was disbelief. He quickly assures me that its fine and it should be finished within the week. That was on the 24th. Today I called back, and the guy on the support line told me that the screen they received was faulty and they need to order a new one from Singapore and the shipping takes 2-3 weeks. At which point I'm completely outraged. From past experience and waiting time, it will take another month and a bit for the piece to arrive. Not to mention that I asked about the other repairs and some have not been done yet (even though they have had 2 months). It's been almost 2 months. And I expect it to take another month or so. Everything has been paid for already so money isn't the issue they are having. I'm at the end of the semester with finals quickly approaching, a lot of my studying and study material (lecture notes) are on that laptop. I have been a huge fan of razer for years now, among myself and brothers we have each owned more than one razer peripheral at any given time. At this point you have basically lost 3 loyal costumers (even though thats a drop in a bucket for you). My only wish is for the situation to be rectified. Thank you for taking the time to read this, please help me share this so that my issue doesn't fall on deaf ears.

I've been hearing a lot of good things about the razer blade 14 but... I am not interested in gaming... I only want to video edit in 4K. Is the Razer Blade 14 good enough for HEAVY 4K edit? I'm talking about a 30 min video in 4K. If not, is the HP Z Book G3 a good laptop for 4k video editing? Which laptop would you recommend is best for 4K video editing? I am interested in performance, not portability; though...I still wouldn't buy an Alienware. Best laptop for 4K video editing?

So I'm looking at buying a new laptop before next school year for college, and I was looking at the blade as one of my options, when is the next blade coming out? I don't want to buy one now and then in a month or 2 the new model comes out. My other question is the QHD worth it? It's a pretty huge price jump and its already expensive as it is. And lastly, can you turn the razer logo light on the back off?

So, as you all are probably well aware, Razer takes Apple's naming insanity and runs with it. I'm looking at used machines and am having trouble keeping specs/release iterations straight. If someone could summarize, for each type of Razer Blade (standard (old)/pro, blade 14, blade stealth) how many iterations each has gone through, and what the key/identifying specs are for each, that would be awesome. Thanks in advance for any info, I'm at a dead end trying to navigate this area and look forward to any help.
