Hello everyone. As you read in the title i want to buy a new keyboard. I am between these 2 keyboards: Logitech G512 or Huntsman TE. Which one would you recommend for gaming + typing.I dont care that much about the noise, all i need is a good keyboard with PBT Keycaps that can last 3-4 years like my Ornata Destiny 2 ED. My budget is under 130$ so if you have any other suggestions i'd be glad to hear them. Thank you

Greeting, Forum! For a bit of context that isn't relevant to the questions, but helps with the story. A while back I posted about deciding to take up repair on two of my brother's old keyboards as a challenge - A Das Keyboard 4 and a Blackwidow Stealth 2014. As of recently I've been experiencing a "strange" increase in free time so I decided to finally get going with that and things started superbly! I started taking the Das apart, which proved quick and simple, gave it a good, usual scrub with a bit of cotton tips, alcohol and a 90hp air compressor. Ok, a bit overkill, but it got the job done! Basically I was all chipper and jolly that it was simple and that I had nothing to worry about. Boy... Was I wrong. Here's where the fun begins. Before I share the atrocities against tech-kind I've seen and cut directly to the first set of questions: These are a bit more general, so I opt putting them at the top if somebody has the same questions. 1.1) What kinds of damage can prevent a key form functioning? 1.2) How can I troubleshoot for each? 1.3) At what point should one say "screw it" and just replace the keyboard? (or admit defeat, in my case) On to the story! The Keyboard was used during my brother's "Rage Streamer" phase and even in it's review it had to take a punch... or few. It's issue is that there are several buttons that don't function, but it didn't necessarily seem like physical damage to me (at the time), due to their seemingly random positioning and their switches' LEDs working. There are 8 of them - Space, F5, F9, F11, }, Page Up, Numkey 9 and Numkey Enter. After taking it apart I decided to start looking around and... wait... is that... super glue? Oh... After several doses of acetone I was able to remove part of the super glue and the plastic object that was stuck to the PCB. (One of the legs had broken off and my brother decided superglueing the outside part to the casing, but it spilled inside and the internal part stuck onto the PCB.) Aside from a few visible copper dots, no additional damage had been done and the moment of truth had come. I grabbed my tweezers, opened up a keyboard tester while holding the keyboard awkwardly to prevent my skin form interfering and started shorting pins left, right, center and beyond. AND THEN... the same 8 buttons still didn't respond. I really don't want to give up on this, since it's both a personal challenge, as well as a learning experience for me. So, here's what I know: 8 buttons don't work, while the switches' LEDs do. The PCB is delivering power to the unresponsive keys. Their placement is seemingly random. The keyboard has been physically hit, with intent. The PCB seems intact, except for scarring form prying off a plastic object form behind Numkeys {+, -, *, 9}, of which only Numkey 9 does not function. I can not seem find a replacement PCB (which I wouldn't consider cheating for the challenge portion of this post, if I'd have to resolder all keys in place and do the required testing to see it work). And here's what I don't know, the second set of questions that are specific to my case: 2.1) What are your guesses regarding my situation? Is it physical damage? A short form an odd strain of conductive super glue? How do I troubleshoot to check if you're right? 2.2) Is there anything useful that I can explore between the "faceplate" on which the switches lie and the PCB? The keys aren't currently desoldered and I don't have access. 2.3) Is it possible to "repair a PCB"? I had to say that once out loud to make sure I actually want to put it in the post. 2.4) Is it possible to find a replacement PCB? Is there a model number I should be looking out for, or something of the sorts? 2.5) Is there any additional information I could provide to make the situation clearer? Yikes... That was a long one. I just bought a 2nd hand razer blackwidow tournament edition from a local dealer, some switches doesn't has the "clicky" sound like others, but after returning the keyboard to the dealer, they cleaned it and it works fine for about 2 or 3 days before the switches stop clicking and feels different too. I cleaned them again with alcohol but 2 days later, they stop clicking again, does anybody have the same problem? Can you share the solution to fix this problem?

So, I am going to receive Razer Blackwidow Chroma V2 and I am going to make a review but I have a question first. Am I able to use any O-Ring modification for Cherry MX to make the keyboard more "silent"? It has the new (Greetech) Razer Green Switches that came out with Blackwidow 2016, but I am not sure that the particular o-rings I want are compatible. i have bought this keyboard this year and within a month it started randomly disconnecting, half the time not even lighting up and applying key strokes. after a synapse update it fixed itself up and has not done ever since for 2 months and has only just started up again now. oddly it only happens when i'm in windows not in games but it really pisses me off that keeps disconnecting and reconnecting over and over again. tried other ports and does the same thing i even have the razer deathadder and its not affected at all just the keyboard. I dont know if it a timing thing as it only happened once during midday but most commonly does it at night. its a really good keyboard and i have no complaints for it except for the fact that it decides to do this disconnect and reconnect thing now.

Hello, first of all i have a razer blackwidow the first version no light no rgb no anything just the little logo on the bottom is lit in blue, btw the problem here is that the D key doesn't work when i turn the pc, comeback from sleep, etc. i have to spam the key like 20 times and then it start to work, also i noticed some doble presses on this key as well on the space bar and some other keys, i triedd blowing some compressed air to remove dust from the switches and also clean the keyboard but the problem persist. In the mouse part i used tho have an asus GX850 and i loved it but the switches broke from the pcb so its mostly dead, i have some sort of a combination of a finger tip grip with a claw grip, and i wanted a comfy mouse that have support for the ring and pinky fingers (yup like a palm grip i know my grip its strange) i saw in a video the Func MS3 revision 2 mouse and i really love the design that's exactly what i'm looking for but is discontinued, so i want and alternative with a really good sensor with no acceleration, and the thumb buttons, also i play with an 5500 dpi so take that in mind and my budget is $90. (My english is not perfect i know)

Hi, I just bought a Razer Blackwidow X Chroma and its my first ever mechanical keyboard and its great! I might need some time to adjust to the keyboard, since I am using it right now and its great :-) I actually originally wanted the Tournament Edition because it was TKL so I can have more space on my desk but that was very hard to find around in the stores so I bought this. It still is alot more compact and smaller than my old Razer Deathstalker Chroma which the Caps Lock key has broken, this Razer Blackwidow X Chroma actually feels lighter (I have Razer Green Switches, they actually feel very smooth compared to the other switches) than the old Rubber Dome Membrane on the Deathstalker Chroma. READ PLEASE VV Also, Please read, I have one question. My 0 Key on the Blackwidow Chroma works totally fine.. but it sounds like a Razer Orange or Yellow rather than the green, when I took the keycaps off the switch was green but it did not have the audible click, if so, very quiet indeed. It still has that tactile bump response when the key is registered thoug, so is this normal? Thanks

So, I was looking up some keyboard facts and noticed that I really haven't cleaned my keyboard before and decided to have a go at doing it. At the same time, I thought about wrapping it. Before I start, I have NEVER vinyl wrapped anything before and read that it's really difficult to perform on the blackwidow. So I wasn't really confident about it. Tools used: • Craft Knife ( £1.49 from a local DIY store) • Craft Mat (pretty cheap I think) • Steel Ruler (Around £2ish from the same DIY store) • 3D Carbon Fiber https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B015MYHD1C/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1505555863&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=silver+carbon+vinyl+wrap&dpPl=1&dpID=51mXlk2LPsL&ref=plSrch • Random Loyalty card not used. • Standard size screwdriver heads. • Cotton buds (Cheap from your supermarket) • hair dryer, heat gun. What I did: Tips/advice: If you want to do this, go for it! Just be patient and take your time. When taking off the shell, put light force away from the keyboard to unclip the shell from the keyboard. I did crack the shell in 3 places but the vinyl made it stronger. Take your time when using the heat source, and don't stretch it too much. Usually I used 5 seconds of quick sweeping across the area you want to bend around. Cut space around parts that clip into the base of the keyboard to make sure it pops back into place when finished. So yeah, my first ever wrap, went alright and my keyboard feels like it's brand new and feels good with a different colour. Any suggestions then give me a reply.

Hello! I just got my watercooler back from RMA so that I could finally use my desktop again. Though after plugging in my Razer Blackwidow X Chroma it would neither show up in windows, respond nor light up. I tried plugging it back in my laptop (which I used during my time without my desktop) and it wouldn't respond there either. I'm just confused it worked like five minutes ago. Anyone got any idea on what could be the problem?

Whats the difference between Kailh switches and Greentech switches from razer? how do they compare to cherry mx blue?

I bought a Razer Blackwidow Chroma keyboard and I am trying to use the Chroma Apps but they never show up in the app list. Also I cannot use any of the custom downloaded lighting profiles. Has anyone else run into this problem with any other Chroma devices or have heard of a solution? I have have already tried uninstalling/reinstalling the Synapse program and the SDK that comes with it.

So ever since I bought my razer blackwidow chroma I've had issues where it will just go dead(all the lights shut off and no keystrokes are registered) this can happen anywhere between 20min and 4hours and its never made it overnight with the computer on its always dead when I come to it in the morning. Simply unplugging then replugging it in brings it back to life. I googled the issue and found that people were having what seems like the same issue but it was almost always related to saturating the USB controller. (usually when it was paired with a webcam). Now I have next to nothing for USB devices: the said keyboard, a wired razer naga mouse, and a wired xbox one controller. I've even left the xbox one controller unplugged just because it isnt required and only used for certain games that i rarely play. I've tried every combination of plugging devices into the 10 different usb ports on my system and found that if I use the usb 2.0 front panel ports it stops dieing and works as expected. If it didn't do this I would just say the keyboard is defective but because it works flawlessly on these 2 ports only it leads me to believe its something else... The motherboard is a MSI z97s krait which has 4x usb 3.0, 2x usb 2.0 on the back. Then my case has 2x 3.0 and 2x 2.0 which are connected to the motherboard usb expansion headers. The only ports that the keyboard doesn't die on are the front panel usb 2.0. but I don't wish to use these as its rather unsightly. I should also mention that I do have some USB extension cables on both the mouse and keyboard(under the 15ft max length for usb) but I've tried swapping the cables and yet the keyboard still dies while the mouse works flawlessly. The USB ports work fine with all other devices and recognize a usb thumbdrive and get appropriate transfer speeds for the usb type. Anyone have any ideas?

I've recently got my first mechanical keyboard (blackwidow chroma v2 w/green switches) and I love doing anything but playing fps games with it. Is this normal? I was using an old microsoft membrane keyboard before. (wired keyboard 500) Whenever I use the razer keyboard on csgo I play really bad, my movement feels slow. With the mechanical I also have a lot more spelling mistakes and multiple keystrokes when I only want to press one key. I feel like the mechanical keys are too light for typing. All advice is appreciated.

I have a Razer Blackwidow V2 I dont really know how to describe this but all the lights on my keyboard work, but for some reason the lights slowly disable themselves. If I take the USB out and then place it back in all the lights work however within a few minutes the lights start disableing, usually chunks of the lights disable at the same time. What i mean by that is that all the keys like qwertasdfzxcv would disable at the same time. At the moment I have lighting over the (home del ins buttons and the buttons like equal backspace and the keys below them, all the rest are disabled. Hi all, I'm planning on adding a proper fully working USB C port to my Razer Blackwidow keyboard through an add on kit. I've already done some cool projects like creating a Raspberry Pi PWM fan controller and converting a Switch to use a Raspberry Pi for gamestreaming, but back on topic. I plan on creating a board that fits into the shell and plugs straight into the 12 pin header for the integrated cable, the board would use a USB chip that would talk to the keyboard and the USB pass through port as well as a small audio DAC chip that would allow the headphone and mic ports to still function. All this would go to a USB C port that just acts like a normal single USB port that you can plug any USB C cable into and use the keyboard like any other keyboard with a USB C port on the back. A kit would basically include the converter board, a 12pin cable to connect it to the Keyboard's PCB and possibly a 3D printed mounting bracket for the USB C port. (The whole kit would be tool-less and just plug into the existing keyboard making it completely reversible) I'm happy to get into the details and get some feedback as well as share some of the PCB designs. But as most of the parts I'm going to order have a minimum order quantity I was interested in seeing if anyone here would want a kit to convert their own keyboard before I order the parts for myself.

Hey guys, I have recently dug out my old 2015 Razer Blackwidow Chroma TE, after plugging it in I was faced with a rainbow cycle of colours and reactive keys when pressing on any of the keys. I was also not getting an input from any of the keys. After searching around I found out the keyboard was stuck in demo mode and I found many users faced with the same problem. I was told to remove the demo mode I would have to hold down specific keys when plugging the keyboard in (for example CTRL + CAPS + M5). All of the combinations didn't work at all on the keyboard, I have so far tried CTRL + CAPS + ESC, CAPS + ESC and SHIFT + CAPS + ESC. None of these combinations work at all and I feel this is due to me having the Tournament edition version of the keyboard. I have now taken the keyboard apart after thinking it could be a hardware issue yet after testing all the keys all the lights are working which makes me think the keys are still alive! I have no idea how to fix this problem and any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, TroopPC

OK, my tale begins one month ago. I decide to do a clean install of win 10. so I reset my pc to wipe everything. I had just gotten in my Razer Orbweaver and was excited to set it up. I wanted a clean machine and I needed to bang out the cobwebs it had been like 3 years since I last reset anyway. I just wanted to get rid of useless stuff. So I did this now note before I had RAZER devices installed. BLACKWIDOW OVERWATCH EDITION/RAZER NAGA TRINITY. Both worked great had no issues with synapse in the least. So I install everything that is suppose to get on the pc. I used LIVE UPDATE 6 as its faster for all the drivers and stuff. I flash the BIOS myself using a USB device. Now whenever I boot up my pc the issue is that either there will be not light display or i will get a light display but they will nto be in sync with one another. I open RAZER SYNAPSE GO TO chroma tab and try to select a lighting option and I get no response or change. The only way I can get it to work is by basically going to uninstall the program and then clicking REPAIR. If I do that then it will work for the duration of the time I am on the pc that session. However if I reset the pc or shut it down. It reverts back. No word from razer its been two weeks and they escalated the problem to their tier 2 department. You should see the back and forth I have had with these guys and the stupid pile of case numbers I have. I have done a ton of troubleshooting everything from going into device manager and uninstalling each and every RAZER device listed both hidden and visible. and leaving the devices disconnected for a time before reconnecting them. Uninstalling the software completely including the RAZER SDK which I had to do in safe mode and reinstalling it after I connected my devices back to the pc. I'm at a loss I have been dealing with this so long now. I wouldn't even have any RAZER devices had my wife not gotten the keyboard and mouse for me as a Christmas Gift this past December. But my Corsair was failing me and my Logi mouse had seen better days. Since I do MMO and shooters I like the versatility of the trinity mouse. Being able to swap out plates is really nice. Please gods of the internet shed some light of what I can do to fix this issue. Also once we figure out this synapse 3.0 issue well concentrate on the issue of 2.0. Some of the same issues but cant change the colors under chroma configurator so I just uninstalled 2.0 and set the Obrweaver aside for now. DxDiag.txt

Wassup Y'all, haven't been here in a while, for my birthday i recently got the Blackwidow Chroma V2 TE, and i'd like to do a review about it I got the Razer green cuz i like the tactile and clickiness of it, i don't regret it, its nice, however, if you wanna buy it cuz you want something tactile and clicky, but dont want the cherry mx blue, outemu, whatever, don't, they are all the same, you get 3 choices of switches, i wont list the specs, just what they feel like and their cherry identical twin is, Razer green - tactile and clicky, cherry mx blue exact copy Razer orange - Silent and tactile, cherry mx brown Razer yellow - silent and non tactile, cherry mx speed basically Their keycaps are simple, non gamery, which i very much like, they feature this VERY, VERY comfy wrist rest that i cannot use without, it hides the RGB Razer logo and is attached magnetically it features full RGB, meaning 16.8 million color and per key RGB configuration, and you can install people made programs for the keyboard, some are fun, like the snake and whack-a-mole which while isn't gonna cure your boredom, hell, its a cool thing to have, there are useful apps, which wont elevate your life completely, are cool, like a clock, say, its 9:30, your F9 key will glow, aswell as 3 and 0, all a different color, there are apps that light up your keyboard in a specific way when you receive a notification from maybe, discord or outlook, one more app thats cool but imo isnt 100% working is the audio visualizer app, where if you play music, it shows the sound on the keyboard, nah it doesn't work, at least for me, what i do like about razer is that games are compatible with RGB, say, you're playing overwatch, to use your ultimate, you need to press the button 'Q', only when the ultimate fills up, using Razer's technology, in game when your ultimate is ready, the button 'Q' lights up, neat,huh? There are macros assignable to every key, and even a dedicated macro button, F9, however, in the normal Blackwidow V2, you get 5 macros for at the side. It also features a detachable cable that's long, for traveling purposes, the cable is braided. So, that's a plus, yo! PROS - full key RGB - you can program your own Razer software and use it for yourself and even put it online on the Razer site for people to download - game compatible RGB - very comfortable wrist rest - detachable cable that is braided - very nice software - nice game mode that disables window key CONS - feet that you pull up to make the keyboard in a particular angle is not rubberized, a cheap ass Lenovo keyboard in my school has that (however, it doesn't matter, as the wrist rest has rubber feet, and so does the keyboard) - worst part about the keyboard is NO DEDICATED MEDIA KEYS, TO MAKE THINGS WORSE, YOU HAVE TO USE THE FN KEYS, NOT VERY NICE FOR THE PRICE IM PAYING (160$) - The keycaps are not levitated, like the K70, which makes it harder to remove, thus, harder to replace key caps and cleaning ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All in all, if you have the money to spare, go buy it, its not bad but if you are tight on a budget OH GOD PLEASE DO NOT BUY IT THIS KEYBOARD IS NOT WORTH 160$ (how much i paid) where i live, the corsair k70, or strafe rgb costs around 200$ where in amazon its anywhere from $100-$150 soo, yeah, listen, dude, i aint stoppin you, you want it? Go buy it, i...just wouldnt recommend it to you, but i'll tell ya one thing, the wrist rest, atleast for me, is IRRESISTIBLE, its leather, not plastic 7.5/10 go buy a corsair keyboard unless you are in Kuwait, like me, where prices for some things are stupidly expensive, then buy a razer keyboard

Hey, as you can already read from the title I want to try to set a macro I have as a new distinct key. What I mean by that is not that is copies any key already on my keyboard or does some task already on the keyboard. What I'm trying to do is that I got a new complete key like "M1". I just don't know if it is even possible. That's why I'm asking you guys. Also I got Razer Synapse as I got an Razer Blackwidow Chroma. So maybe there is something there.

I want to avoid this coming off as a rant. These are just some thoughts I've been forming after a few months using a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate 2016. I like the way the keys feel. And if that was all there was to it, this would be one of my favorite keyboards I've ever owned. I mean, when I bought the thing that is all I even concerned myself with. Every keyboard I've ever owned up until this point was 99-100% function without any special software so I thought the total of the software would be adding some custom macros and customizing some of the animated effects. It turns out, there's a lot more to Razer Synapse and a lot less to the keyboard. Moving from a full size Apple Keyboard on one setup and a simple but nice Logitech Illuminated Keyboard on another I expected any drivers and software to be a small package that let you set up the keyboard and then close it. That's seriously what makes the most sense. Having a constantly connected account and always running background application is just nonsense. As various Windows updates killed the software and brought it back to life over the past few weeks (I held off on the Creator's Update for stability's sake but moved on due to new security concerns with Intel) I noticed that the default mode for this keyboard was the "breath" effect which fades all of the keys in and then all the way out to black. This is annoying when using your PC for video or typing in the dark. So I've spent far more time than I ever want to again signing into my keyboard's internet connected account and reinstalling its software trying to make it work so I could have just a normal stable illumination. Let's add to all of this that the keyboard isn't even supported in Razer's newest version of Synapse. A 2016 product that requires connected software is already becoming obsolete. A mechanical keyboard at that. I still really like the typing experience on this keyboard but I can never justify buying a Razer product again. How do you mess up keyboard software? How do you not store the settings on the keyboard itself? If someone offered me $20 for this thing I would take the loss and buy the simplest illuminated mechanical keyboard I can find. If I've learned anything, it's that with keyboards, simple is the best. KISS. I guess this is just for others considering a Razer product to consider.
