Hey there, Im a new builder and I've recently been having issues with my pc where it blue screens, black screens, or crashes with the fans spinning up to max. I know my GPU isn't the issue due to having had it testes previously. Neither is the SSD the issue due to also having tested it. I do not believe it is a power supply issue either due to the problems occurring whenever, no matter If I'm doing cpu or gpu intensive tasks or if I'm just idling. I do believe it might be motherboard related though due to another problem that kept occurring where the wifi would disconnect and would not show any networks nor reconnect until pc restart. I have spent a long time trying to research what the problem may be with no luck so it would be great if I could get some help with diagnosing this. This one has me stumped. I have an old lenovo computer with an OEM AMD R9 260. The graphics switched to the IGPU a long time ago, as a kid I took it in to a shop but they didn't do anything with it, and I got it back months later. Long story. Anyhow, after that I got into computers and have since built my own PCs. Recently I cleaned out my old computer with the R9 260 in it, noticed it had dedicated graphics in it, and wondered why it wasn't working. Under drivers the GPU had the windows error code 31. I figured no problem, I'll just install the AMD auto driver updater. Soon after, the entire device blue screened. The auto repair failed, and the device turns on but no graphics will register & the monitor will remain black. I'm officially stumped, does anyone have any suggestions on how to repair it. Would love to still be able to use it for nostalgia purposes & since it was a gift from my recently deceased grandmother, but I think it might be salvage at this point. I have not tried a windows repair usb yet or tried putting in another graphics card.

Changed my motherboard 4 days ago. I have 13900KF, Gigabyte Z790 Elite AX Wifi7 1.0, 4 x 16GB DDR5 @4800MHz and Gigabyte RTX 4090 Master. Whenever i play MW3 or just casually using my pc, my monitor suddenly turns black and says "no signal". I can still hear the sounds in game, i can still hear my friends on discord. But after 2 minutes or so, i hear a windows notification. Not knowing what to do, i force shut down my pc and turn it back on. Happened to me like 8 times yesterday. Tried switching DP ports, updated Nvidia Drivers to the latest. Help please.

Hi All So this issue is completely random, it can happen when gaming, it can also happen when doing something very lightweight. It last happened about an hour ago when I had the log running. I'll get a blackscreen on all 3 monitors, followed by a restart after about 20 seconds. I did run a log since this morning until the issue happened, but honestly I'm not the best at interpreting the logs against which piece of hardware (if it is a hardware issue). Could anyone take a look? Many thanks! I have hwinfo and 3d mark open when I start running time spy. Shortly after beginning the test my gpu fans ramp up rapidly and the monitor goes black and says that there is no input signal. However the sounds from time spy are still playing in the background. After waiting for a few minutes the gpu fans slow down and the monitor turns back on to the windows login screen. All of the programs and tabs that were previously running (hwinfo, 3d mark) are now closed. This problem has been bugging me for the longest time and I would appreciate any help!

Hi, I need help, I do not know what is the issue but I get some idea of it. When I play a game, sometimes the monitor turns blackscreen while PC still running till its restart itself. GPU temperature was 45 degrees, no signs of overheated. and this blackscreen comes random. I did try reinstall the driver for GPU however, it does not make any different. I still get the blackscreen but totally random, sometimes fast, sometimes after 1 -2 hours of gaming please help GPU : 2080Super EVGA

Hey guys, i really need some help. Roughly 9 months ago, I build my new pc. Since I build it, I have had random crashes/black screens during games or when in idle, but never during stress test or anything like that. My specs are: AMD Ryzen 5 7600 GIGABYTE Radeon RX 6800 XT GAMING OC 16G ASUS TUF Gaming B650-Plus 2x16 GB G.Skill Ripjaws 5600MHz Noctua NH-D9L NZXT C850 Gold (850W) OS: Windows 10 I have tried the demo of 3dMark, all OCCT benchmarks, cinebench r23, memtest86 and some other benchmarks. My PC never crashed during these. The speeds and temperatures stay at normal levels, even after like 3 hours or more. But most of the time it just randomly crashes in games after like 20-30 minutes. Sometimes it only crashes after like 2 hours or even never . The games which crash it are basically all games that I currently play, so Valorant, Cyberpunk, Fortnite, Forza Horizon 5, GTAV, and some more. I am running stock speeds on both GPU and CPU and over-/underclocking or changing anything hasn't helped ether. I've tried all DOCP profiles and turning it off has also not helped. I am running the newest chipset and gpu driver, as well as the newest BIOS. (I dont really think that matters scince these crashes exist since I build my PC). The Windows Event Viewer also doesn't help. I only get: - Error: Eventlog (ID: 6008) - Critical: Kernel-Power (ID: 41) But these 2 show only after the crash, there is no event before my pc crashes. Currently I really don't know what to do anymore. The crashes are just getting really annoying while im playing with friends and it's also not like the PC was cheap. Thanks for reading all that, I hope someone can help me.

Hey all, Today I built a brand new system for a family member. System has an MSi RX 6750 XT. All went well, installed Windows 10 Pro but at the moment we don’t have an Ethernet cable so installed Windows offline. Motherboard has WiFi so downloaded the Chipset, Audio, LAN, WiFi drivers onto a USB stick and installed. As soon as the WiFi driver is installed, we can jump on to his WiFi, and an ‘MSi Center’ pop up comes up asking to download the latest driver. If you click ‘No’, screen goes black instantly, but doesn’t go into standby, just stays on but black. If you click ‘Install’, installation gets through to 99%, then screen goes black as before. Upon restart, Mobo splash screen comes up but as soon as you’d expect windows to be booting, screen is black again. We’ve done a number of system restores and reinstalls of windows. Including keeping the MSi window ‘unresolved’ in the background and installing AMD Adrenalin. AMD Adrenalin installs up to 99%, a bit of the usual ‘flickering’ occurs, then the screen goes black as before. Apart from sending the 6750 XT back and going Nvidia I’m not sure what else I can do? Thanks in Advance! Rhys

I recently upgraded my pc to AM5 and got a new PSU. After some driver issues i reinstalled windows and all the drivers and then it seemed to work for almost a month. However I didn´t really push it to the limit. only played pretty light games... Today i downloaded Fortnite and imediately got a warning about my drivers not beeing up to date. I wanted to check in AMD Adrenaline but although it was installed i couldnt open it. So i reinstalles adrenalin and Updated the Drivers. In Order to get my Logitec webcam to work i had to disable Kernel isolation. Then after aprox. 10 minutes of gaming i got a black screen and my PC Powered Off. That happened 3-4 times. i Thought it might be the logitec driver so i removed it, reenabeled Kernel isolation and used the webcam with the standard windos driver. Game still crashed... I thought it might be the game so i reinstalled the Game and it worked for 2 hours. But then i got a blackscreen again... I checked wether my cpu overheated but it didnt... i ran a benchmark but that worked fine... How can i find out what causes that blacckscreen? I think it might be that the PSU doesnt have enough power (it has 600W Output).... System: Ryzen 5 7600 (not x) Radeon rx 7600 xt Sharkoon 600W non modular PSU Motherboard: PRO A620M-E / MS-7e28 running bios version 3.5 SanDisk SDSSDH3 1T00 running windows 11 Pro 10.0.22631 Build 22631 thank you in advance! Joshua edit: I also tend to get havy lag and freezes for 1 or 2 seconds before the blackscreen i never had lag in fortnite and my pc should be better now... and it runs fine for the most part....

Hi guys, I'm at the end of my wits here... Recently bought a custom pc over ibuypower for quite the sum. After arriving broken due to delivery issues I finally got it about 3 weeks ago. After a few days of use, these random crashes started to occur, no matter the action I'm doing. I could be watching a stream, playing cyberpunk or other games, just sitting idly on desktop and these crashes could occur at any given moment. A precise description would be that at first both of my screens go black, then my gpu fans turn up to 100% (super loud), however the pc stays online. I can't get an image on my monitor tho, except I hold the power button to force it to shutdown and then restart the PC. Like I said, the built is custom, but put together by a company (ibuypower). Specs: Motherboard = ASRock X670E PG Lightning CPU = Ryzen 9 7950X GPU = Palit RTX 4090 PSU = 1000W BeQuiet! Straight Power 12 80+ gold modular Cooling = NZXT Kraken360 RGB - 360mm AIO liquid cooler Case = HYTE Y60 OS = Windows 11 Solutions tried: 1. I thought it was the connection of my GPU, so I assisted with the weight of it (thought it would sag). At first I thought that worked, bc afterwards it didnt crash for 2 days. Then the crashes appeared again... 2. BIOS reset. Thought maybe the company did some funky OC, but no OC was active. Everything on Auto in BIOS, which would mean the default right? 3. checked all connections of the PC itself. No loose cables or broken stuff in there, at least to my eye. 4. checked in event viewer and saw that dwm.exe was crashing. checked integrity of my windows files but to no avail. 5. I found multiple "solutions" online that I can't recall at this point anymore, but nothing helped so far. 6. And also my temps and loads during gaming are normal. Cyberpunk is currently the load heaviest game with 70 degrees Celsius (158 F) and average of 3% load on CPU and 55 C (131F) and 60% Load on GPU. I obviously could ask the support from ibuypower, but to be frank, they didn't seem like very knowledgable guys... Maybe one of you knows what's up? P.S.: sorry for english mistakes, not my first language. I can fix it if you'll tell me whats wrong

Hello! First up my PC specs are : -Ryzen 5 5600 -VEGA 56 gigabyte -Gigabyte aorus ultra gaming x470 bios version F61 -2x 8GB 3200mhz ddr4 ram -500gb samsung evo 970, 250gb sata ssd, 2TB HDD that I took out.. -600W PSU I got 2 monitors connected usually, HDMI and DP 1.4 Latest Windows 11 version So about 2 days ago my PC randomly restarted when I was playing a game, I saw that the rgb in my PC turned off and on again as if it tries to restart. The red led on the mainboard switched a few times from CPU to dram and after 3 times to vga. I had a blackscreen for the whole process and it continued to be a blackscreen. I was able to boot into windows 11 tho, because I heard the windows 11 sign in sound in my headphones. I restarted again, reconnecting the monitor cables to my GPU and it worked for about 2mins before restarting and going into a black screen again. I then reseated the GPU, tried again and nothing. Using a different DP port on my gpu and nothing. Only using hdmi and nothing. I also tried to use the different pcie slot I had on my mainboard but nothing happened, in all of those scenarios it stayed with the red vga light but boots into windows 11. So I took my GPU out disconnecting all the cables from my psu and connecting them all back and also reseating the GPU again and it WORKED for about 10mins before restarting and blackscreening, in that time I updated my gpu driver in hopes that it would fix it but no. I then took out a HDD that has been someone faulty before and acting up, started the pc and it worked for about 30mins, in that time I tried to benchmark my gpu with furmark and it worked 100% GPU usage, stable at 57C while pulling 220W, for about 20mins before I closed the benchmark to start a different benchmark and it restarted again and black screened. I also tried to only start with 1 RAM stick but I had a blackscreen again. I now am out of ideas and have no idea how to fix this, I recently changed the thermal paste on my GPU (about 3 weeks ago) and everything was working perfectly. Is my GPU broken or is it something else? I mean my GPU was working when I was able to get into windows 11 without a blackscreen. I sadly dont have any spare GPU to try out and dont have anyone close to me that could test my GPU etc. (Not sure if I posted this in the right forum, the problem is somewhat gpu related i guess)

Hello, I just built a new system and I'm a bit lost on whats causing this issue: This is a completely new build, not an updated GPU in a previous build. The build is a 6750 XT 12GB; Ryzen 5 5600; AsRock Phantom Gaming 4 B550 Mobo; G Skill Ripjaws DDR4 32 (2X16) GB 3200 MHz; Samsung 980 Pro 1TB SSD; Corsair RM750 watt Gold 80+ PSU. I am using Windows 11. My monitor is an AOC G2460. Whenever I start any game, the screen flickers black whenever any animation or movement is happening. The mouse, any idle animations on screen, startup cinematic, etc. But this only happens in fullscreen mode. If I put the game in windowed mode, it plays perfectly fine. FPS is great, temps are great, couldn't be happier since I upgraded from a GTX 970. It does not happen if I, for example, watch YouTube in fullscreen. It is only when I play a game. Not really sure whats going on, I've already tried reinstalling my drivers. Is it just due to my monitor not able to support it in fullscreen? Something similar to this happened when I tried to connect the monitor to an Xbox Series X to play Elden Ring. The screen just went completely black. Different monitor worked fine. I just dont want to buy a new monitor right now if I don't have to, but if this is the situation, I guess its an excuse to make my current monitor my discord / youtube monitor and buy a new 1440p one for games! Thanks in advance for reading the post and any help.

boot Computer wont post when monitor is set to 240hz
cringelord216 posted a topic in Troubleshooting
I have a Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 (4k 240hz) and for some reason, my computer will not boot if the monitor is set to 240hz. What I have been doing if I forget to turn off 240hz before shutting the computer off is unplugging my display port cable from my graphics card before turning it on. Once the computer goes through POST it boots up just fine and I can plug the cable back in and the monitor can be at 240hz. Something I figured out as well is if I have my computer connected to my Sony Bravia 85k TV (4k 120) it can boot, even with my 240hz monitor plugged in and set to 240. Here are my specs. Windows 11 64 bit GIGABYTE - Z690 AORUS ELITE AX (BIOS F23) Intel i7 12700k RTX 3070 32GB DDR5 RAM 850w bronze EVGA power supply. -
blackscreen Black screen + annoying noise in my headphones
SebSebastian posted a topic in Troubleshooting
My build consists of an i5 10500 + B560M Aorus Elite mobo with a kit of 16gb of ram set to 3000mhz. My gpu is a radeon rx 6700 xt and my psu a 700W or 750W Chieftec From my experience, i know that this issue is generally CPU related and it takes a fresh install to fix it at max because its caused by a software problem such as a failed driver update... Any thoughts on why i might be experiencing it even after a fresh install or how to deal with it? I need help with this, its getting on my nerves :,) -
Hello all, sorry for the reading but I want to be precise (sry for bad english if there's mistake) first, my systeme is : -5900x amd -PSU 1200 platinium -GPU 1070 msi -RAM 16 Go corsaire 3200MHz -MB X570 aorus Master It is working perfectly, but I finnaly got a 6800XT XFX at reasonable price. I installed it like my 1070 but first start was really slow (1-2min) and 720p and 5fps, litterally. I installed drivers but it crashed midway and no way to output anything... I replugged my 1070 checked forums and did the following: -Bios update -every pilot update -used 2 wire for each 8pins connector -rebooted contless time Nothing worked but once I plugged the diplay port while booting it accutaly worked, so i reinstalled amd pilote with amd card plugged. the resolution was back to normal but fps were not amazing (15-30) so i did a reboot and black screen is back... Finnaly I tried to unistall all GPU pilot using DDU but still no output. I reinstalled my trustworthy 1070 and nvidia pilote to actually use my computer... back to square one. I send a ticket to XFX but no news so if you have any ideas of what may cause a problem or what to do please help. Best regards. A sad potatoes.

Whenever I watch youtube or sometimes play war thunder (crashes when I return to menu, not while playing for the most part), my pc would crash, no BSOD or anything, itd just blackscreen and restart itself. It happens most often whenever I am watching youtube, or when I just get off a game of war thunder. So nothing to GPU intensive. I just upgraded my GPU to the 3070 and PSU to the TX750M, and have not used my PC for 8 months before then. Before that, everything was fine. I have troubleshooted almost everything and its starting to get really annoying. Specs: i7-8700 w/ Corsair H80 AIO cooler 3070 TUF Asus M-ATX B360 Prime Mobo 32GB HyperX Fury Ram TX750M (recently upgraded, used CX650M before and had same issue) What I have done so far: Updated BIOs Replaced PSU Reseated GPU Reseated RAM Updated Drivers Done a stress test on the GPU (did not crash even though every fan ramped up and at 100%) Memtested my RAM Diagnosed my CPU using the intel diagnostic tool. Thermals is also very normal with sub 70C most of the times At this point, Im all out of ideas Just to add, there are no video glitches or anything when im gaming, so framerate is exceptional, but computer would crash constantly

Recently when I am playing a game, my PC will randomly stop outputting to both of my monitors. They will black screen at the same time and act like there is no input to them. Sometimes after they black screen the audio will not work but sometimes it still does. Im not sure if my mouse and keyboard still work after cause I can't see. I could be gaming for hours and nothing happens then other times I am gaming for 20 min and it just stops outputting. The only way to fix it is to restart my pc with the button on my case and it boots up after that no problem. I have tried unplugging and plugging in my monitors' displayport cables from both ends multiple times and it hasn't fixed it yet. I made sure to update my bios and nvidia geforce drivers as well but I still have the issue. It has never happened in the regular desktop mode, only when gaming. This is a PC that I built over a month ago and this issue just started this week. Specs: R5 5600x GTX 3060ti 16GB of RAM EVGA 650W Gold PSU MSI B-450 A-Pro Max 1 Tb WD Blue M.2 SSD If anyone has had this same issue or has any idea how to help then that would be greatly appreciated.

So, i have a strange problem, i say strange cuz i have no idea what could cause it and also the fact that i cant see anyone with the same problem on the internet no matter how hard i look. So, i just build my on pc, here are the specs : -CPU:Ryzen 5 3600X -MOTHER BOAR Gigabyte b450m ds3h -8GB DDR4 RAM -HAR Kingston A400 240GB ssd -NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1050 TI So, i got all those together, from my knwoledge all these componets should work fine together. I install my windows, and all its fine and well except the fact that the displayed resolution of my monitor is very low, but besides this all works fine. At first i installed my wifi adapter driver and started browsing the internet for a second, then the screen turned black, restarded, it shows the windows logo for like two seconds and then it turns black again. I was thinking that maybe it was some strange problem with the instalation so i reinstalled windows. Same steps, same problem, after i install the wifi adapter driver it takes like 1-3 mins until it goes black. Ok, maybe its the driver. Reinstalled the windows again, started with the GPU driver this time, same thing, but this time it goes black during the instalation of the driver. Reinstalled windows again, same thing. On my next try i get some programs and start installing them, like honeyview and winrar. I installed them and all went well. Watched some videos from a stick, all went well again. Procedeed again with driver instalation, and again, black. I managed to enter safemode with networking but it actually had no networking working. Anyway, the pc can see all the components, the SSD, GPU, CPU all of them, and in safe mode it even told me that the GPU driver and the wifi drivers are installed. So i did another test, reinstalled windows, installed the wifi driver fast and got in time to Netflix before the black screen thing happened. As i assumed, while the screen is black the sound still goes on in the background, the player runs. I tried pluggin and unplugging my GPU and RAM, of course reinstalled windows many times, tried to use the windows troubleshooter, nothing worked. Maybe its worth mentioning that this CPU has no graphic chip at all, so its all on the GPU to display anything and the fact that the my monitor is kinda old. If anyone has any idea, i would deeply apreciate any advice. Later on i will try to start installing a diffrent driver, and i will update this. It also works in safe mode and my pc can see the components. p.s its windows 10 home 64 bit/ Sorry for the long post. Another thing, i tried installing Linux Ubuntu, the instalation works fine but then it just does not boot, or at least its not displayed.

I recently brought an GTX 1060 Asus Turbo 3GB, and I swapped my old GT 430 with this GTX 1060. I connected everything correctly and I pressed the power button, PC starts, beep 1 time after 5-10 seconds and the "no signal" from the monitor disappears and it remains black and the BIOS doesn't shows. My motherboard is Acer Veriton M4610G with the latest BIOS which is P01.B0 from 2012/10/15. With my old GT 430 and with the integrated graphics it boots fine. Can the GTX 1060 be faulty? Or it's an incompatibility with my motherboard? I tested the GTX 1060 on my friend PC and the same thing happened (he has an even older motherboard with 775 socket).

Hey guys, the other day, I experienced a minor flaw while gaming on my PC. If I want to change my music with a shortcut on mouse or keyboard, I'll experience a blackscreen on my running (fullscreen) game, which lasts about two seconds, followed by some frames of the actual game, then again a blackscreen, which lasts a bit longer. It happens everytime when I'm trying to change the multimedia, but only in fullscreen softwares. On the desktop, nothing weird happens. Really hope you can help me! Specs (nothing overclocked): - Ryzen 7 2700x - Geforce Ceberus Gtx 1050ti - Gigabyte B450 Aorus Elite - 2x8GB GSkill Aegis DDR4-3000 - 500W Thermaltake Smart RGB - 1TB Samsung 860QVO - 480GB KingDian idk what - Windows 10 Pro 64bit I tried to record it on OBS, but there was no blackscreen, so I filmed it with my phone. Therefore, the quality is very bad, also sorry for my English, I'm just some kid, with some English knowlegde and a minor first world problem. footage.mp4

Hi there Linustech forums! I have an issue and would like to know what the cause of it is. I can narrow it down myself to a few things, but its still too much to be considered. I'd like to have some assistance with the process. I have many details and already know this post is too long, but I don't know how I can compress this any further. (sorry !) My problem: I sometimes find my desktop after being away from keyboard, to have a black screen, unresponsive to user input and that the fan's are spinning at 100% (not all, possibly just the GPU, maybe CPU too. Case fan's are not affected). Turning down the machine by short-pressing the power button on the desktops case does turn it down. A fresh boot right after will results in a black screen after loading and displaying the UEFI splash screen. Once this event is triggered, the same restart procedure as before gives the same result, meaning that it is stuck in black screen after UEFI splash screen. This also happens when i am not running any programs. (happens when i wake up and boot and come back after shower) Workaround: I hope this workaround gives some indicators as to what the problem may be. Extra details: Artifacts: Gaming artifacts: System Health I have latest drivers and my full-malware scan (Avast set as sensitive & scan all completely) came back clean. Most of my hardware is just under a year old. I take care of it both in software as in hardware. Overclocking: I think by default intel turbo is enabled and also memory-XMP profile is set. Besides that, I generally do not overclock. (I like my silent system haha) My specs: PSU: 650W CPU: i5-9600K GPU: MSI GeForce® RTX 2070 Super, 8GB, Gaming X RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB(2x8GB) 3200MHz CL16 Boot device: Samsung 940 M2 NVMe MOBO: MSI Z370-A PRO BIOS: 2.B0 from 1/07/2020 (according to CPUZ) What i think: I think it could be my GPU that is dying. But it does not make sense to me that it is a hardware issue when i can still see things when I enter the UEFI. Besides, how would this work arround have such in impact that it either works or doesn't? it confuses the hell out of me. That's why i also think it could be software related. I hope it is related to a windows update or something I can still access my desktop with the workaround but it makes me feel unease about it all. i am looking forward to your insights! Nick J
