  3. I FIGURED IT OUT!!! I have been dealing with this for over 9 months with a BRAND NEW system I built following all of Linus Tech Tips videos. The system would just randomly crash from loading a game, all the way to being in the middle of a game and it crashes. I wasn't even playing graphically intensive games either! I had heard that it could be GPU, CPU, Motherboard, PSU, ... etc. I double checked everything in my PC... and I mean everything. I was 100% sure the GPU was fried and it was too late to return it. I had to swallow the pill of buying a new card in the middle of this bitcoin crap at the super high prices! It was about 2am my time and I was going to order the new card the next day when I decided to look for a fix. One. Last. Time. I found a very old thread, link below, that a guy was having the same issues. He did the exact same things I did and then some. He finally resorted to pulling the graphics card and taking apart and looking at it to see if there was anything noticeable. That's where the problem was!!!! The CHEAP way some of these cards are made, was causing this issue. More specifically, there was little to no thermal compound on the actual GPU, it was all on the board on the side of it. He cleaned it off, put it back together, and ..... Viola!! It ran fine! I did the same thing, also with the help of some of Linus' videos, and it fixed mine as well!! Just to note I'm running a Red Devil Radeon RX 480, so this is not a cheap card but also not a super high end card either. Hope this helps somebody save a little bit of money and not throw out their card when its just poor assembly. All credit goes to the guy that started the post in the link, without him I would not have figured it out. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/660409/screen-goes-black-and-gpu-fan-goes-to-max-speed-monitor-enters-powersaving-mode/
  4. Hello, Sorry beforehand, I do IT Service Desk so I am pretty detailed about stuff. The problems started about a month ago. My computer would randomly restart and boot normally. In the Windows log, it said that there was power loss. I noticed that when it would restart, none of the other devices in the same surge protector would restart so I don't think it was a power issue. Ended up changing it to another surge protector with less stuff in it, but it still happened. The reason why I mention this is because I sometimes do have some bad power surges and one day, it broke literally every surge protector in my house. Eventually I had another issue. When I had woke it from being on sleep mode, it would be a black screen. When I restarted it at this point, most of the time it would just boot to a black screen again with no sound. Sometimes one of my fans would not start as well. I would turn it off, unplug it, and press the power button 15 times to reset it. That would usually work until today. Today it did not start and I noticed that when it did start, the fans on my GPU would not spin either. I moved my GPU to another PCI slot and it booted normally finally. I don't think it is a monitor or cable issue as well because I have two displays that showed nothing, one with a HDMI port and one with a display port. Most of the time, I think it crashes when I am using Chrome and usually watching Youtube. I do game and my GPU does run quite loud and at 100% utilization, but only gets to about 70 degrees. I personally think it is my GPU, but I'm not sure if it could cause all of those problems. I did see that the release notes on the last two driver updates for my GPU do mention black screen or system hang during extended periods of game play and the issues did kind of start when I updated it from possible before those two updates, but I was not playing a game before most of these issues happened. Running Windows 10 Home version 64bit, 10.0.18362 MSI Z270 Gaming M5 Motherboard BIOS version 1.A0, 7/3/18 (was just updated) Intel i7-7700k 4 core 4.2GHz cooled by a Corsair H50 closed loop watercooler 2x8GB DDR4 GSkill Ripjaw 3200MHz Power Color Red Dragon Radeon RX 580 1TB WD Blue HDD Corsair RM650i (650W) Gold certified PSU (should be around 100 above recommended) It's all in a full tower case with 3 120mm fans and 2 140mm fans
  5. Hello everyone, I really could use some help as my PC is not boot and I am typing this on my phone because if this. My problem is actually multiple problems. So what happened is that I was trying to get into my bios but I kept getting a black screen until windows booted. I tried multiple different moniters, most of then HDMI. I tried to use the on board graphics, and I tried disconnecting my boot drive. Nothing. Eventually I took out the cmos battery and did that thing where you use a screw driver to Bridge the two metal points. I put the battery back in and reconnected everything. My PC turns on but none of my moniters will display anything. So now I'm here sitting beside my PC on the floor trying to get it working. Please if anyone could help I would very much appreciate it, as this is my only PC and I need to access it asap.
  6. Hi LTT forum! OS:Win10 CPU:4930k (stock) RAM:16GB (dual channel unfortunately) Mobo:Asus P9X79 Pro GPU: Asus Strix 1080 ti (stock) SSD: 1TB Kingston PSU: 850W BeQuiet Monitor 1: Benq Zowie XL250-B Monitor 2,3: Benq Zowie XL2430 All but monitors, SSD, GPU are almost 7 years old. Monitor 1 is hooked up with Display Port and runs 240hz fine. Monitor 2 is also using DisplayPost and runs its 144hz fine. Monitor 3 is only using an old HDMI cable atm so is limited to 60hz which for now works. My issue is when even playing World of Warcraft Classic my main monitor will go blank for 3-4 seconds. This is easily repeatable using Furmark. "Preset:1080" and will cause multiple black screens for the same 3-4 seconds. I just ran the test. Fan speed 34%. First Black Screen 1/4 the way through at 62 degrees C. Temp levelled out at 65. 5 total black screen occurrences. Since having this issue I've had one occasion where all the fans not spinning on the GPU. The card still ran but I noticed instability and I quickly adjusted the fan curve in MSI Afterburner. I imagine this is the most likely cause of my issue. But its interesting this happened after the initial symptoms. When unplugging one of the monitors to only use 2 monitors, there is no blank screen when running Furmark. When I test again with my other DVI-D 1440p monitor it still goes blank at 3 monitors. What I've tried so far: Different configuration of monitors. Setting other monitors as Primary Monitor in Nvidia Control Panel Lowering the Refresh Rates of all monitors Unplugging all unnecessary internal drives and external connections Updating drivers with a clean update via Geforce Experience custom install option I reinstalled Windows a few weeks ago due to this issue and that didn't fix it I originally upgraded my monitors because I was having the same issue with the same 240hz main monitor, a 60hz 1400p DVI-D second and a Display Port to DVI-D 1080p TV. Hoping that the conversion cable from DP to DVI was causing it or something. The only constant is the PC and the 240hz monitor. I understand the Furmark is putting stress on the GPU but playing WOW Classic on the (Classic) old school graphics settings still triggers the Blank Screen in busy environments. I've searched on and off for months and I don't have any new ideas. I did buy the GPU used but it was from a friend of a friend who didnt OC it and I've not done much OCing nor has it been OCed for long. My PSU has had a rough life. Once or twice I've had instability and the fan wasnt spinning (it has no fanless mode) and poking the fan with a pencil sent the fan to spin at max for a few minutes as it cooled down. But removing all nonessential drives and devices I thought could help reduce PSU load. Thanks in advance

  9. Hey guys n gals. I'm hoping the LTT community can help me in my time of need. The short of it is that I acquired an Asus Turbo GTX 1080, however it does not want to display. I boot up and just a black screen and eventually "no input" on the display. I tried all 5 of the outputs (2x HDMI, 2x DP, 1x DVI) It came from a working system and the card worked in it's previous system. However I hooked it up to mine and suddenly it doesn't want to display and took a hell of a time to get it to even be recognized by windows. If it helps, I do get a warning display via the DVI that if I boot without putting in the VGA power plug, I get text on the screen to plug in said power plug. Other than that, nothing. Here's the specs of the system I want to put this 1080 in: FX-8350 Asus Sabertooth 990fx r2.0 - bios version 2901 16gb ddr3 (gskill ripjaws) Adata boot ssd + 2x 4TB HDD corsair vs 550w PSU windows 10 home - version 2004 To give a small backstory, these parts bought I off a friend (the CPU, mobo and ram) and have worked fine for the past year with an old xfx radeon hd 6870, which then I upgraded to an rx 460 (which died, hence me replacing it with the 1080). I got this as a backup/storage pc and with the 1080 I was thinking I could even game if I wanted to. Things I've tried: As I said before, I boot up and get no display/no input. The fan and ASUS logo on the side spin/lights up. However, I did manage to get it to boot into windows and was able to verify/browse the desktop via the chrome remote desktop app with a laptop. I get a 480p resolution screen through the app which makes navigating and trying to tweak anything near impossible as windows won't scale down enough and when I try to change the display settings, its blown up too big and the page doesn't scroll. However, while in this instance, I was able to verify that device manager did recognize the card and had the display adapter installed. Also, I will note that when only the 1080 is in the system, the VGA post light is lit up (which, according to the manual, when the VGA light illuminated means there's a post error). Thing is despite that lit up, I was able to still boot into windows. That's about as far as I got with just the 1080 in the system. Next, I put in my old radeon hd 6870 in the first PCIe slot (which the 1080 was in previously), and then moved the 1080 down to the 3rd PCIe slot (wouldn't fit in second). This is the card I have been using previously and works as it should. I get a 1080p resolution. I check device manager and both display adapters for the radeon and gtx card are there. At this time I was able to install geforce experience and install the most up to date nvidia driver (forget which version # but it was as of 5/27/2020). I will note that I am unable to power both cards properly, as the radeon requires 2x 6 pin VGA power and the 1080 requires 1x 8 pin VGA power. My psu only has 2x 6+2 pin VGA power. Hindsight I wish I got a slightly bigger psu. Anyway, next I tried reflashing the bios with the factory vbios from techpowerup. I installed GPUz which was able to recognize the 1080, however sometimes it would have all the fields blank and others where some fields were filled (like architecture and manufacturer) and some were not (like clock speeds and vbios version). Not sure why GPUz was spotty but it varied between reboots. Eventually I was able to use nvflash to reflash the factory bios onto the card while in safe mode. I will note here that according to nvflash, I was flashing the same vbios that already existed on the card, so not sure why it wouldn't show up on GPUz. After fiddling with all that, nothing changed after putting only the 1080 back into the pc and booting up. I was only still able to view the desktop via chrome remote desktop and having a 480p screen. At this time I opened Speccy to see what the graphics were displayed as. This is where I saw it was only at 480p and Speccy gave something nondescript, so between GPUz and Speccy, the 1080 wasn't still being properly recognized, despite having now the correct (according to geforce experience) driver installed. Also despite having geforce experience installed, I could never get nvidia control panel to install/open properly in any of these instances. I also reset and updated the mobo bios and that didn't help. I updated windows and made sure there weren't any more feature/quality updates before starting this adventure. I also ran SFC, DISM (as I wanted to make sure I could get anything from windows update I could for the card), and CHKDSK /f /r just for extra peace of mind. I suppose the only thing I can think of that I haven't done yet is reinstall windows fresh and only have the 1080 card installed at first bootup. Lastly I did try putting it into my main rig, which is as follows: 8700k w/ nzxt 240mm AIO aorus gaming 5 wifi - bios version f15a 32gb trident z 1080ti ftw3 hybrid nvme boot + 4TB hdd EVGA supernova g3 850w windows 10 pro - version 2004 Thing is I stuffed all the above into a meshify c and the huge 1080ti is a fingernail width away from the fins of the AIO rad, thus making it a tetris puzzle to disassemble this pc. Hence why after seeing the 1080 not being recognized at all in device manager or GPUz and unable to install the display adapter even, I didn't have the patience to fiddle with it anymore. (this was after reflashing the vbios). My thought was that with the nvidia drivers already installed, it'd have a chance to pick right up and I could worse case use chrome remote desktop again but perhaps find that it has a better resolution than 480p. No dice though. So yea, that's about all I could think of/do before pulling my hair out. If you have any ideas of what I could do next, please let me know. Also if you need more details or pictures like of the card's PCB, please say so. I apologize for not taking any screenshots, however with no display I can't think of many applicable instances where they'd be useful here lol. At this point, the one video of Linus baking a card in hopes of reviving it comes to mind...
  10. Hi all, I have windows 10, gtx 1070, and a ryzen 5 processor. Recently after a restart, my main monitor (LG 4k display port connection) is showing only half the screen. The right half is black/blank. When my main monitor is connected to my work laptop it shows fine. I’ve tried restarting both my monitor and computer and I’ve tried different ports on my graphics card as well as my monitor. I’ve updated my drivers to the latest versions and still no fix. Anyone have any ideas of what could be the cause? Additional info: My computer is a recent build and has been working fine for 3 months. I also have an HTC Vive Cosmos Elite. I’ve updated software for that recently as well. I don’t have much installed but steam, steam vr, adobe creative cloud, OBS, and HTC vive software. I have a three monitor set up and the other two monitors show fine. All three show fine when connected to my windows 10 work laptop.
  11. So 8 months ago, I bought an RTX 2060 from Galax, and it worked for about 4 months before it started having a problem, when I launch a game it would black screen me and my fans would go up to 100%, so I claimed the warranty and got a replacement, Fast forward another 4 months, it's happening again, this time with Covid2019 going on, I can't really leave my home to claim warranty again, so, I searched the net for a fix, which I found was to change the thermal paste, so I did, there was no Warranty sticker on the screws, so I should still be able to claim it since I nvr removed the existing sticker, but after changing the paste, It's still having the same problem. Launch a game, works for like 2 seconds and black screens me and the fans go 100%, I've already tried reinstalling the Nvidia Drivers but to no avail, I then thought I'd fiixed it by disabling the Power Saver mode, which worked for like, a couple days, but now it's happening again, and well, I don't know what to do anymore.
  12. Hey guys. While i was on my PC my second screen suddenly went black. I heard a low whining sound out of my RX 480 and then the screen appeared for a few and went black again. The second screen is connected via VGA (hdmi to vga) while my main is hdmi (display to hdmi). I switched my VGA cable and the screen came back but i still heard that low whine. After a few mins the screen went black again but my main still works fine. I updated my drivers and everything but still nothing. The second display was tested on another PC and it works fine. Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks in advance :D
  13. I keep getting black screen (follows with lag), then normal again, and after a few second, the screen went black again, and normal again, and keep repeating. I noticed, sometime it doesn't effect windows components, like the taskbar, or the start menu, so when it black screen, sometime the taskbar, and start menu is still normal, albeit I can't click anything still. I also noticed the problem didn't occurs if there's no movement in the display, like no video, or when I don't scroll anything (moving my mouse doesn't seems to make the problem occurs too) . I can acess ny bios with no problem. I would appreciate anyhelp, thanks.
  14. So I posted about this problem on here before, but the issues just keep on coming. I have a 2018 Xiaomi Mi Air 13, with an i7 and a MX 150. At first i had some problems with screen flickering, especially with grey colours, as many have on the internet. So i ordered a new panel online, disassembled my laptop and tried to put the new one in, but i ordered one with wrong spacing on the mounts, still tried the video connection on the new one out and it worked just fine. So again ordered an other one, with correct mounting points, only to discover that this screen had a loose contact on its connector. So i tried multiple times if the problem wasn´t on my side and swapt those 3 panels through to see if it was the internal HDMI cable or indeed the connection on the screen. It was indeed the connection on the screen. So i wanted to put my laptop back together with the original screen, ready to again order an other panel. But as i was done with assembling the laptop even the original screen wouldn´t work anymore. Notice here that this one did work seconds before as i was searching on which side the error was. So i tried to connect an external screen via the HDMI out, but no succes their either as suddenly no HDMI output could be detected anymore. The laptop also seemed to be stuck in a bit of a loop as when i turned it on the fans and keyboard backlight would start, but turn off after like 20 seconds and then on again. Also turning the laptop off even with pressing the power button for more than 5 seconds was sometimes not possible and only through removing the battery it turned off. Already tried a few things like booting without battery and only with power cable, or pressing buttons for windows safe mode etc. Not even possible to get/display into bios anymore.. In the attachment a video of the error can be found. Now my question: Is their a possibility that i damaged something on the internals, and if on which part, or any other ideas how to solve this problem? Thanks in advance for the help, isn´t my first time working with computers but this error is really frustrating. Video_of_error.mp4
  15. Hi LTT forum gurus - long time listener, first time caller. Seeking guidance on troubleshooting my MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming GPU randomly crashing. Sometimes within minutes, sometimes I get a few hours. If I start to push the GPU usually within 30-60 seconds a crash occurs. Crashes have only occurred in the past ten days - started early Dec-2019. Really stable for years prior to this. Have made no hardware adjustments or modifications in the last year. PC is still powered on, network continues, sound (MP3) continues, just no video (no audio if from game). On crash GPU still has power and fans are spinning. Have to hard reboot to get the screens back. Depending on crash infrequently EUFI asks to have setting adjusted or Windows 10 boots into recovery. Any guidance and/or assistance is greatly welcomed. Things that I have tried so far: Wound back mild GPU overclock. Upgraded NVIDIA driver to latest 441.66. DDU driver and reloaded latest directly download from NVIDIA site. Memtest PC RAM - no issues. Unigine Heaven benchmark crashed 7/10 benchmark runs. OCCT (v5.4.2) tests: CPU OCCT (large data) over one hour - no issues. CPU Linpack (2019) over one hour - no issues. GPU 3D without error detection - crash within 45 seconds. See image OCCT note temp is 56 degrees Celsius. GPU 3D with error detection - crash within a minute. GPU Memtest one hour - no issues. Thought I'd ask the community what I can try next. N.B. Ambient temp 20-25 degrees Celsius. GPU temps > 60 decrees Celsius. PC Specs: i7 4790K. 16 GB RAM. MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming. Corsair 750W RM750 Gold PSU. Crash scenarios: Just after boot into windows. Surfing the net. Watching YouTube. Gaming - see image MSI Afterburner of second before crash about 45 seconds into a game - note temp is 39 degrees Celsius. Idling. Any and all of the above in combination. Thanks in advance. TK.
  16. Hello Forum, Months ago the motherboard of one my laptops (ASUS F555L) got broken (I was almost 100% sure about that after t-shooting but I took the laptop to an authorized repair shop and it was confirmed). The repair shop offered to replace the board for ~900 BGN (around 500$) which was ridiculous given the fact that I bought the laptop (brand new) for 700 BGN (around 390$). After some searching I found a replacement board with even better processor for just 140$. After months of waiting I finally got the board, replaced it and the laptop was back to life (almost). The only thing that wasn't working was the display, however I was able to use an external display without a problem. I figured that maybe this was some sort of driver issue so I started downloading new drivers for the new board (ASUS X555LD). Everything was fine until I've decided that upgrading the BIOS will be also a good idea.... At the moment the laptop will power UP and that's it - no Windows, no BIOS, no image - just a black screen (the same way like it used to be before replacing the board). I'm not even 100% sure if nothing happens or just the display is not working... I was reading that there's a way to flash a new BIOS from a USB drive but I'm not sure if I'd be able to do this with this board. Furthermore I'm not even able to take out the CMOS battery from the motherboard because it doesn't have one. For the update I was using firmware and tools from the ASUS' website and before the restart of the machine everything was fine - I also received a message that the update was successful. P.S. I'm aware that this ASUS series are quite crappy but my mom was using the machine in order to run very lite software products and it was doing the job just fine.
  17. Hi, So i bought a new Asus ROG 5700 XT and a samsung 970 evo nvme ssd 256gb last january. I keep getting random freeze for 1-3 seconds with no regular intervals inbetween. Sometimes these freezes goes into blackscreen and i have to restart, maybe 1/8 times. what i have tried: I have reinstalled windows 3 times when i changed my GFX and my SSD. I have tried using ddu several times over the past months (every time a new driver came up) My temps are good as far as the sensors see it (cpu and gpu) on realtemp and gpu-z. I've tried changing the ports my gfx is connected on my PSU. turning windows game mode off. I really dont know what else to do. Please help. 18. Hello, recently I have a problem that happens randomly and only in game and only in certain games. When I launch Rocket league for example I have these color screens that appear. In addition I still hear the sound of the game and also discord. I can hear them for a few seconds or else until I turn off the computer. This problem does not appear in all games. The games with which I encounter this problem are: Rocket league and trackmania. i also play at csgo(only one crash in maybe 30 hours and it was a black screen), Escape from tarkov, no man's sky without crash. I can either do a long session and not have a crash or otherwise this problem appears at launch or after a few minutes. In game my gpu reach approximately 80°C. My specs: Ryzen 5 2600 TUF B450-plus Gaming 2*8 GO ram corsair 3000 MHz Gigabyte GTX 970 4GO blower PSU: Venom POWER 850 W Bios version: 1607 I need help to know what is the problem because i saw on the web that it can come from the PSU or the GTX 970 and i can't change both of them THANKS for your Help.
  19. Hello everyone. I recently bought a new XFX AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT THICC III Ultra and replaced my old r9 380 today. At first, there was no issue, Windows booted properly, I have checked the AMD software and device manager, and everything seemed in order. So, I started to play Witcher 3 to test it, FPS was normal (80-100) but there was stutter. After 3-5 minutes of playtime, the computer crashed to black screen and wouldn't boot after restart (it powers up but all I see is black screen, no BIOS or anything). I've tried to boot with my r9 380 to see if I mess something else but it runs just as fine before. I've tried factory reset with adrenaline software, installed the new GPU and booted again but the result was black screen. I have used DDU to completely remove the drivers in safe mode with my old r9 380 on, selected the option "clean and shutdown". After shutdown, I installed the 5600 xt and tried to boot, did not work again. Am I doing something wrong, or do I have a faulty GPU? Specs: Motherboard: GIGABYTE B450M S2H CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 GPU: XFX AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT THICC III Ultra Memory: GSKILL 8GB Ripjaws V Siyah 3200MHz CL16 DDR4 Case and integrated power supply (650 W): EVEREST RANGE-7 PEAK-650W USB 3.0 MidT ATX
  20. I built my own desktop about 3 years ago. It has worked pretty much flawlessly since then. However, the other day I went to turn it on and nothing happened (and I do mean nothing). Not a single light came on on the outside of the case or on the motherboard. No fans spun up, and no outputs worked. I tried looking online, and most outlets pointed at the PSU as the most likely source of the problem. I removed my PSU and did the test where you jump the power on switch, and it worked. The fan came on, and using my digital multimeter I check that all of the pins were outputting power. I also read that the CMOS battery can sometimes go bad in a computer this old, so I replaced it. Still unresponsive. As far as I can tell, all of these signs point to something being very, very wrong. Because of all of the COVID crap going on, buying half a computer's worth of parts just to diagnose the problem doesn't make financial sense right now. I also cannot exchange extra parts with my friend nearby for the same reason, and I also don't want to damage any of his parts. Are there any other ways I can test my machine before I write off the motherboard and CPU as a total loss? I have nothing but time these days, so if it is a matter of trying something, I might as well. And yes, everything was plugged in, no fuses were blown, and the power supply switch was on. I left the computer exactly as I normally would when I shut it down for the last time. I didn't move it around or do anything that would unseat something like the RAM. Just some more context: The only thing that was strange was that the night before, I plugged in a flash drive into one of the front USB slots on the case (there are two of them) and both slots suddenly stopped working; my headphones were being used in the other one. I plugged the same flash drive and headphones into another computer and they worked fine. Perhaps that has something to do with it, but I'm not sure. I continued to use my computer for about an hour after that, and turned it off and on a few times to try and fix the problem, before finally shutting it down for the night. Also, there was not major/obvious catastrophic failure, such as blue smoke or a burning smell. Every thing looked fine visually as well. Not sure these are entirely relevant, but here are the specs: -CPU: Intel 6600K (NOT overclocked) -MB: MSI B250... mortar? I think -GFX: Sapphire Radeon RX 480 -PSU: Corsair CX 550M -RAM: 2x8GB Kingston Fury
  21. Hello guys, I don't understand much about pc's, but few weeks ago i built a pc, my specs are GTX 1650 4gb, 8gb ram, h310m pro, i3 9100f and matrix 800w psu(i posted a picture of it) I have a problem after i use my pc for some time(7-9 hours),at some point the screen freezes and after few seconds turns black, then turns on and that repeats again after 2-3min...And i have to shut down my pc, and take a 20-30 min break.. I think its my psu but i don't really know... Also once my graphic card *crashed* or whatever and started using 100% of itself and the whole pc was lagging, I had to reinstall my gpu drivers and restart the pc for it to start working again.. i really need help the pc is really new and i need to fix it before it ruins other components(if its my psu), also i dont have any coolers, should i buy coolers instantly??
  22. Specs: i5 9600k (oc'd to 4.9ghz) Asus prime z370-A II Corsair vengeance LPX 2x8gb MSI RX580 Armor 8g OC Corsair TX650M I've recently started playing Cities:Skylines again, updated my mods list with some new graphics mods etc. Then I started experiencing issues with my GPU where I would play for a bit (up to 15 minutes but often only a few) until my screen would go black and my GPU fans would ramp up to maximum RPM. The computer is still clearly running in some capacity as I can hear the game music is still playing even with no display. This makes me think that the CPU OC isn't an issue. I have played the game with no mods installed (also played in DX9) and the issue didn't arise, this might be because it wasn't pushing the GPU to 100%. All of the mods I use haven't got any recorded incompatibilities which makes me lean towards this being a hardware issue. Possibly the mods are causing issues but I would expect the game to crash rather than the whole GPU. I was watching the temps with AMD radeon software during gameplay, all seems normal just before it crashes. Readout was FPS: 45 GPU util: 97% GPU SCLK: 1257 MHz GPU power: 107W GPU temp: 64C GPU fan: 3532RPM GPU VRAM util: 5470MB GPU MCLK: 2000 MHz I haven't experienced the issue in Forza horizon 4, GTA V or FurMark, all of which push it to 100%. I've started thinking that this may be a power supply or RAM issue, since I have also been experiencing a power cycle before post ever since I built the PC (even between CMOS resets). Basically when I press the on button, the fans spin up for a second and the relay in the PSU clicks, then after about a second the fans stop and PSU clicks again. Then the PC boots up normally. This only happens on the first boot after I have turned the PSU on using the physical switch. Just shutting down and turning on again doesn't cause it. As far as I'm aware this power cycling isn't normal. I built this system in January of this year (used GPU and CPU but everything else new) Things I've tried: Reseat GPU Turn off fast boot Verify game data Try with both sticks of RAM separately (for power cycle issue) I haven't yet updated the GPU BIOS as I'm not sure which is the correct BIOS file to use. Thanks in advance
  23. I have been using my PC for 4 moths now and there have been no issue But 1 month+ ago my PC started to black screen all of a sudden when playing games like cs and r6 but doesn't black screen while playing apex Whenever the monitor black screens the fans in the PC start to blow at max speed I have been monitoring the temps and it doesn't go above 70 degree celsius.
  24. Hi there. I'm turning on my PC and all the fans spin normally and powers up, however, there is no ouput to the monitor at all. The screen just stays black. Things I've tried: Cleaning everything Checked all wires and that GPU sits correctly. Trying another GPU (the same outcome) Switched the position of the CMOS jumper and then put it back. Installing a new motherboard Installing new PSU Changing the one 8GB stick of RAM into another slot. Monitor and HDMI with laptop (worked fine) Plugging HDMI into Mobo. (But my CPU doesn't have integrated graphics) Before all of this happened, I was having a problem where my PC would crash and I'd have the "Bad System Config" error, as shown in the photo below. Windows was not booting properly at all. I was about to complete reinstall Windows, but then it wouldn't power on. Now it does power on after installing new PSU and new Mobo, however, no output. Does anybody have any idea of what could be wrong and anything I could do? I am desperate and about to give up. Haha. Thank you very much.
  25. So I was trying to test a laptop keyboard and whilst securing the keyboard connector onto the motherboard the screwdriver accidentally touched the motherboard there was a spark and the laptop powered off. I power it back up but the screen remains black. Connecting the laptop to an external screen works okay. Laptop is a Lenovo S20. Any ideas what might have broken and how can it be fixed?
