  1. Yesterday I downloaded a file that claimed it would install Dolby Atmos on my computer. I was skeptical at first since it was not an .appx file, but I scanned it using BitDerender and the results were initially safe so I proceed to open the file. Nothing appeared, no UAC warning, no setup, and Atmos was definitely not installed. I tried opening it again, this time I was looking at the task manager and I've found that it is was running at least three instances of the command prompt. It was then that the antivirus blocked the file. I used MalwareBytes and it deleted a file on Loca/Temp called dup2patcher.dll. I restarted my PC since BitDefender locked my access to hidden files and when I booted again I tried to scan my PC using BitDefender. But I thought something was wrong because everytime I tried to open BitDefender by double clicking it's icon on the windows tray, the other icons "flashed", like when my mouse is over them for a second before the antivirus opened. I found very odd that this only happened when I tried opening BitDefender, all the other programs that I tried to launch via the windows tray behaved normally so I'm thinking that maybe something is wrong with the antivirus itself. Here's a video of it happening, as I think my explanation is somewhat vague and hard to understand. Furthermore once when I tried to restart my computer I the following process was preventing it from restarting: CoreSync::â€<musync::â€<WSystemâ€>ObserverImpI I've searched it up and it seems that it linked to Adobe software, but given the circumstances and the fact that this never happened before I'm afraid that this is linked to all of this. Today I tried to end all processes I could and leaving the task manager to check on my CPU usage. It stayed on 2%, it occasionally went to 3% but never more than that if I left my PC unused. I'm wondering if the BitDefender thing is linked to a virus, and if so, if I should format my PC or try removing it some other way. Any advice? Thanks in advance.
  2. it started I think today morning, at the system boot a command prompt window opens for a split second and closes, then Forlumineontor.com popup opens on chrome, I didnt go in because ublock origin blocked it, but this is a cmd script thats causing this. I didnt have issues with virus for years because I used and still use a antivirus, the current one is Bitdefender Pro, which didnt seem to catch it maybe because it's a script? Apprantly it is common enough that there are multiple websites telling me to either change browser setting or download malwarebytes, one of em is https://malware.guide/adware/remove-forlumineontor-com-virus. Is there any way to get rid of it without downloading a seperate av? I've also noticed, cmd is on the task manager startup list, which it didnt used to before. I after I disabled it, the popup happned much later after system boot.
  3. Hi everybody! I am trying to figure out if Bitdefender's Web Protection/Filtering service logs all the websites you visit? And if so, do they encrypt it and for how long they keep that data? And finally, what is the alternative if you want to be on the safe side while having people on your network that click on any link they see? From Bitdefenders website/blog: "Bitdefender’s web protection technology makes sure you don’t land on a malicious website and risk having your personal and banking data stolen. When the Web Protection feature is active on your iPhone or iPad, Bitdefender checks every website you or the installed apps access for threats, blocking all known infected links and protecting you from cyber thieves." "Bitdefender”s web-filtering technology makes sure you don”t land on a malicious website and risk that infects your devices with malware. Web attack prevention checks every website you access for threats, blocking all known infected links and protecting your personal information from cyber thieves"
  4. I’m guessing this is in support of National Doctors’ Day, Bitdefender is giving away Gravityzone for healthcare providers for 12 months, regardless of the size of your organization, whether it is a small private practice clinic, a trauma center or a huge tertiary hospital.
  5. I am using a laptop with a fresh install of windows 10. I use Bitdefender 2018 and Dashlane but for some reason when those two are used together I get a warning saying Dashlane has stopped working. I have turn off the safe files module that used to be an anti ransom ware. I have also excluded the Dashlane files from scanning. I am wondering if anyone else is having this issue. Thank you everyone for your time and help.
  6. I'm trying to install an antivirus, but I can't. I first tried Malwarebytes, then Avira and now Bitdefender, but when I click "Run as administrator" Windows says there's no information about the publishers and neither can be run.
  7. Hello guys, Kaspersky VS Bitdefender Which one is the best antivirus software between these two?
  8. So first of all i'd consider my self a kind off tech savy guy but this one is just beyond me. It started some days ago when i got kind off anoyed that some webistes werent loading as they should, you know they didnt download some of the textures and the websites looked like cached versions of the original websites. This usually got fixed after i refreshed the page so i though nothing more of it, but at some point i realized that downloads got interupted aswell not only in chrome but in microsoft edge aswell when i tested downloading it from there. I started fiddling with some settings and doing the occasional google search that makes you semi paranoid and tried deleting cookies etc. when i got recommended to look into my firewall settings. Now heres when i started to get knd of worried but mostly confused, i realized that I had an old trial version of Bitdefender handling my firewall, a trial version that must have been expired for many months at this point since i thought i'd got rid of it and i was running Kaspersky instead. So when i tried to access Bitdefender i couldnt get into the setting of it or anything it just said that i needed to upgrade to premium status, well ok lets just uninstall it through the uninstaller section in windows... yeah right, just says uninstalling... and leaves it there forever and sometimes it just says that there are no uninstaller installed. Ok lets go to Bitdefenders uninstaller section on their website and download the uninstaller. Not so easy after all since something is blocking downloads on google chrome. Malware bytes isnt showing anything wierd neither does kaspersky when bitdefender alows it to run every now and then. Im like kind of lost for words at this point and on the brink of defragging the harddrives on this computer and just try to start over but im not going down without a fight... yet atleast. Please the gods of LTT forums, please shine your light on this clusterf**k of a sittuation. Edit: For some reason files that are getting downloaded are now saying network error which is total bull shit and now even google searches is getting blocked with kind regards/ Eric
  9. What's poppin forum. So, usually I have at least some ideas as to what's going wrong with my hardware, but I'm genuinely drawing a blank here. My computer is slow on startup, and this persists for a long time afterwards. This was a sudden change. I hope you can help me identify the issue! WINDOWS VERSION IS: WINDOWS 10 PRO - VERSION 1809 - BUILD 17763.253 Here's my system spec: CPU: Ryzen 7 1700 (3.875GHz @ 1.35v) MOBO: ASRock AB350 Pro4 RAM: 16GB Crucial 2400MHz (2733MHz @1.42v) GPU: Powercolor RX 580 8GB Red Devil CPU COOLER: Cooler Master Masterliquid 240 SSD: WD Blue 250GB M.2 2280 HDD 1: WD Black 1TB 7200RPM 3.5" HDD 2: WD Blue 1TB 5400RPM 2.5" PSU: Cooler Master 550W Elite V2 Case: Corsair 270R Issue: So let me describe in a little more detail. Before this occurred, I could boot up my computer, and do everything at lighting pace and my CPU usage would match the workload being put on it. So for example, booting into Windows wouldn't cause immense pressure, and browsing the web was pretty light, gaming was a good way to push the system usage, video editing/encoding would also push the CPU to it's limits. Normal behavior; you ask the CPU to do something, and it will operate according to the task it is assigned. The issue now is that I boot into the system, and it would seem that my CPU is pegged at 99% usage. And it is SO SLOW that even the cursor follows behind my actual mouse movements, it's jelly like. Opening up Task Manager is a 50/50 because it crashes half the time, and I barely got into the settings menu to see the build of Windows that I'm on. Context: I always put my computer to sleep rather than shutting it down, so yesterday I woke it back up because I wanted to try out Chrome Remote Desktop from my laptop to control my desktop (the system in question). So after waking up the system, I went over to my laptop and ran Chrome Remote Desktop. I did a couple of basic things on my Desktop (via my laptop); open up the web on my desktop, look at the file explorer, just mild stuff. So after I was done confirming that remote desktop worked properly, I went to open up the "Sleep" dialogue in the start menu on my desktop. This is when the Chrome Remote Desktop connection got very slow & choppy (I'm thinking it may have been my actual desktop). The desktop did however go into sleep mode. So later in the day, I go to wake up my desktop, only to find it acting funny. The login screen is somewhat unresponsive, and it takes me a little longer to type my pin in to login. I reach the desktop screen, only to be surprised by how slow everything has become. Task Manager is incredibly slow and sensitive, and doesn't refresh very often (like once every minute), but for what it's worth, I didn't see CPU usage drop below 99%. The system has been on for the past little while, and it's still acting the same. Slow, unresponsive and it sucks because I can't determine what's up. I've restarted the system one time through, and no change. Additional Information: I've had issues in the past with Ryzen overclocks, wherein you can set a frequency in BIOS, but in reality it you're actual frequency is much lower (for example 3.9GHz in BIOS but in reality you're running at 1.7GHz), and HWInfo64 can confirm that this IS NOT the case, it reads frequency @ ≈ 3.875GHz. Again according to HWInfo64, the system IS NOT overheating, the highest temp I saw TCtrl get to was 51°C. I tried to run JRT (Junkware Removal Tool), for the purpose of nuking any unnecessary processes, and that didn't seem to do much, still slow and unresponsive. While it would appear that JRT did manage to kill background processes, strangely enough it couldn't complete the system sweep, it crashed at the last phase. Moreover, JRT now acts sort of temperamental. Sometimes, I can just run it as per usual. Other times I'll get an error message and the program won't run. I am still somewhat skeptical about the "99% Usage" on the CPU for one reason. My PSU (the Cooler Master Elite V2), has a very sensitive fan curve. The fan will spin up audibly at very moderate load (related post I made). Task Manager reads (kinda sorta) 99% usage, but my PSU is next to silent? I'm not sure how true that 99% is. For some other Task Manager curiosities, certain processes will read at well below 10% total CPU usage, but be categorized as "Very High" power usage Also "System Interrupts" shows up in Task Manger very briefly every once and a while at 99% usage. As I'm writing this, I just witnessed a Bitdefender system scan stop working
  10. Good morning guys. I need advice and help. I have a Desktop PC with Windows 10 pro installed. CPU:Ryzen 2700x RAM: 32 gb (2x16) RAM HDD: 500gb WD Blue SSD as the primary OS boot drive Graphics:Geforce GTX1080 graphics card Motherboard : ASUS ROG STRIX B350-I GAMING I use Bitdefender Total Security 2019 for protection. I was trying to upgrade to BitDefender Total Security 2020 , downloaded the installer from their site. Double clicking it would not do anything... the mouse button would indicate some background processing is on, but no popups comes up... So the next step I tried was to try uninstall 2019 version and try reinstalling 2020 version. To do this, I clicked on uninstall 2019 from Control Panel>Programs>Uninstall a Program. However by mistake, I ended up selecting the option "Reinstall Bitdefender with saved settings" , the system continued to reinstall Bitdefender and then after few minute it was ready for a reboot. I gave it a reboot, but strange enough the PC wouldn't POST after that. Here's where my pain starts... The PC power LED was on showing it powered on, but after waiting for few min didn't see any POST. [ I can see the CPU Fan moving, RGB lights on both on my Wraith PRISM Cooler and motherboard ] Pushed the power button to turn the pc off, and turned it on again. No POST after few min. [ RGB lights on cooler and Mobo as above] Pushed the power button for 5 sec to hard shutdown, and then turned it on again , no POST. [ RGB lights on cooler and Mobo as above] Shut it down, unplugged the power cable and waited 2-3 min and then plugged back the cable and powered on the PC , no POST. [ RGB lights on cooler and Mobo as above]. Again turned off the PC, unplugged it and went for dinner.. came back after an hour or so and tried plugging it back on, powered it on, no POST.. [ RGB lights on cooler and Mobo as above]. At this point I am think, either my CPU is toasted or my motherboard is... I wake up today morning ( 7-8 hours later ) , and thought before I go the PC repair shop, let me try powering it on. I did. Powered it on, and wow there's a POST screen now. This may be due to the previous POST attempt failing because of system instability, or if the power button was held in to force the system off. If the system failed to POST after you made changes to UEFI settings, you may wish to revert to stable settings to prevent POST failure. (Ignore the keyboard not detected message as I unplugged my keyboard and put it on a secondary laptop ) Here's a screenshot of the POST screen My Question is , is it safe to to reset and login to windows ? What could have caused this ?
  11. Got a notification from Bitdefender that Origin accessed my mic. I wasn't even playing any games through Origin at the time. My PC was basically idling. Anyone else had this happen or have any idea why Origin would need to access it randomly?
  12. I'm looking at either Norton or bit defender but don't know which is better. Any inputs are appreciated.

  14. So, recently my family got a iMac, but someone managed to allow it to get hacked. I, being a rather tech person knew that I needed to immediately take it offline, as they went to some phishing website, and stupidly gave over it's password. I downloaded bitdefender to my laptop recently, and still have the download file. My question is will it prevent the hacker, even if they ran some console commands, from getting back in? I need this question answered ASAP, and NOT with a long list of questions, nor a link to a website I don't have time to read. By the way, for some more details, the computer is running High Sierra. It is a 2015 iMac (we got it used) and no security measures were in place before, except for the ones automatically enabled by default. Sorry for the rather rushed parts of this, as I have barely any time to do anything right now.
  15. Specs of laptop: Lenovo Ideapad 330 15ARR CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 3300U RAM: 8gb ddr4 1tb HDD GPU: AMD Radeon VEGA Mobile Laptop is about a year and a half old OS: Windows 10 Pro 64 bit Security: Bitdefender Total Security 2020 Laptop originally came with Windows 10 home (64 bit), about a couple months ago I upgraded to Pro and reinstalled bitdefender with it. Around a few weeks ago the fan was running high even when laptop was "idle". I looked in task manager and bitdefender was using anywhere between 20-40% of cpu all the time. This combined with a google meet with obs recording for school and it gets 100% of Cpu. I've tried everything in the settings. Even disabling everything I could find, but bitdefender still used the cpu quite a bit. The only temporary solution is to restart the computer, which keeps bitdefender at 0% most of the time, but after about 10 minutes it goes back up to constantly 30%. I would get other security, but I paid $100 for total security with a VPN. Is anyone else having this problem or know a solution? Is there any way to actually stop the bitdefender tray and service? If I try to stop it in task manager it says that I do not have permission. Is there any way to gain the "permission" to end the task? Thanks for the help!
  16. (Using Google translate, sorry :( ) (I hope Linus and Dennis can watch this topic and reply me) So the first thing you should do is make sure that you can read Simplified Chinese or you can use Google Translate's "Translate Entire Page" feature (just fill in the URL in Google Translate, then click "Translate" and set it to "From [Chinese Simplified] To [your language]") These URL are about the Qihoo 360 on Wikipedia (Please read it first and do not change Language, you can only read the Chinese version to get the most information): https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/奇虎360/ https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/360安全卫士/ (They software for Chinese) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ So, start our topic: On 2018/06/22 (UTC+8), I watched LTT's video. In these videos, I watched a video of Reviews Bitdefender. I thought at the time that Linus might not know that China has a more powerful (junk) anti-virus software than this, not only free of charge, and it will try to install all of their softwares on your system, and remind you of some good sites has risky. It betttttttttttttttttttttttttttttter (juuuuuuuuunk) than Bitdefender. It's true. But, I just say 360 anti-virus software in China is junk, their "International Edition" is really better! No AD, no any bundled software, no anythings! It just a anti-virus! (Support Google...) Their English version of website: https://www.360totalsecurity.com/en/ But it isn't end! If you can read Chinese (@Dennis), you should be try to using "Chinse Edition". Chinese Edition is very Poorly's anti-virus software (Yep our Chinese software is very bad...). If you want to try it, chick this link: http://weishi.360.cn/ Please! Please! Please everybody installed 360 to your virtual machine! Because: If you think "360 Total Security can't stopped something" you should be try to running Chinese Edition. Yep if you think somethings like that. (If you isn't live in China (includeing HongKong, Macao and Taiwan)) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- So, this is end. I have an uninvited request. I hope Linus can evaluate 360 software. Both the international version and the Chinese version can be evaluated. I am not worried that Linus does not understand Chinese, because Dennis is in LMG, isn't? @莱纳斯 @丹尼斯 Loyal users from LTT, even I from China.
  17. I want to buy a security app for my pc, but I want to know which one is better? I'm a long time user fo Eset Internet Security, but my friend told me to try Bitdefender supposedly it should be better than Eset, but I'm not sure. What I like about Eset is that it's lightweight and it's not that annoying in the notification side. Thanks
  18. So, Sometime an hour ago, My computer updated the firmware for the Logitech G430 Headset which required me to unplug and replug the headset. Windows didn't like that and it bluescreened, Something about "System exception not handled". Regardless, I started the computer back up and launched chrome, This happened. The thing that strikes me the most, is that the only reason that i have it installed, Is because Linus featured it in a video, plus the free subscription. So, in other words, WHAT? Thank you all for your time, GTinsider
  19. Does anyone else feel like BitDefender is just paying to get their rewards? Like, it's just so weird.
  20. Thanks to Bitdefender for sponsoring this video! If you're new to Bitdefender and want to try it for yourself you can get six months of Bitdefender Total Security service FREE at https://www.bitdefender.com/GetTotalSecurityLy What happens when Linus throws caution to the wind and visits some of the sketchiest sites on the internet?
  21. Intro: What I have and what I know Antivirus So I've been using McAfee for a little over a year because my Dad said it's one of the best anti virus, but my Dad only knows the big brands and was somewhat good with tech but what he's been using for a while isn't the best anymore, especially to many tech enthusiasts like me and everybody on LTT forums. VPN I also never use VPN unless I might need to unblock some random sites (no, not Porn) in countries overseas so for stuff like that I just use some random free VPN I can find on the Google Play store. The problem is most free ones don't really work that well and usually degrade the quality of the WiFi connection to the point that it's unusable, and some work enough to unblock sites but when I try to keep it on when I do my normal stuff, the WiFi becomes unsuable. Password Manager So I used to use a free password manager that was really good, 1Password, but I honestly never really needed it cause there was like one main password I used for almost everything and sometimes (rarely) would I modify it for some sites. But it's paid for the PC and when I changed phones, I just decided to stop using it. Then I started to need to sign up with many more very important sites because I started having to look at colleges, start studying for the SAT, and take AP exams, etc. And I also started really changing up my passwords, to the point that it was definitely impossible to remember them, so I started looking towards ways to organize my passwords. When I asked my Dad if he could let me buy a password manager I really liked he said, there's no use, just do what I do. What he does is write his passwords in a document and changes parts of the password that he uses often into little codes and it makes it quite unreadable. So for some time I used a combination of binary, coding syntax, a secret language my cousin made up a while ago, Cesar cipher, and used in weird ways to secure my passwords that I would put into a document on google drive. And I guarantee that anyone who tries to decode them would not be able to, here's the whole current list Data Set Inpeeps = Eeep Langeep; Int varEeep = Norm; inputShift(even.Num) = inpeep.Num(odd.Num); Ex.input {1st key = [Int indexNumber myEvnShft = OdShft;]} Ordeep = code.bineep; lrn = educateep, scheep; frum = foreep, Teep’s Hardweep; shp = Ebeep, Amazeep; prfsnl = busineep, careep; prsnl = meep, priveep steep; gmng = videep geeps, gameep acceeps; ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz1234567890!@#$%^&*() 00000001Int lrnCnnUggru = Epvkbjkj4499!; 00000010Int frumPiitXiitXiit = Jgrxm&&!!; 00000011Int shpTkkvKmm = Litzo((##; 00000100Int prfsnlOummx = SlihuvuKv2qAA%%; 00000101Int frumcwoozLooz3 = Pmx4sCC&&; 00000110Int prfsnlZm8umzoqq2 = Roz6uEE((; 00000111Int gmnga3xss4 = Yron121Q28wGAGA; 00001000Int prsnl!WOOZ = S40ypxyxatqICICI; 00001001Int gmngV1!uww8 = cvsr565UKKK; 00001010Int prfsnlnyy0p3y&yy0 = W8$3t232exuGGGGG; 00001011Int lrnY!8811@X11@ = gzwv909YII; 00001100Int prfsnll71633$ = i2ya@*7QQQ; 00101000Int manyvids = hello7tele89wo#rmus; But my process was too slow and if I was to make it less complicated then it wouldn't be that secure and I would not be able to put it onto a cloud storage service like Google Drive. I also had way too many passwords and I've decided I'm just gonna use a password manager. Need: What I'm looking to gain from you guys What I'm here for is to ask you guys for... Good Antivirus: I think I'm gonna switch to bitdefender ASAP cause I've heard a lot of great things about it. Good VPN: When I was checking bitdefender's plans I found that you can add their VPN to it but when I searched up about it, people said it's just a rebrand of hotspot shield (or something like that) and it's really bad. So I need a good VPN that is able to protect my data and privacy from my ISP and anything bad. Good Password manager: Lastly, I want a good password manager that people like, trust, and actually recommend to others. I also need it to have these requirements Support for PC and other devices, most importantly Android. It needs to work well with other devices and not just a good PC app but an Android app that was just thrown together with a shitty UI (like the Steam app on IOS) I also want to be able to store a bunch of passwords. And any other features would be good like it works well with android to the point that it could ask me if I want it to fill a certain app's password when it comes up or that it auto fills in google chrome well unlike Truekey's trash autofill (although I haven't tried it in a while so it might have improved) I am kind of asking a lot but just please tell me what you can and help me out to the best of your abilities. All help is appreciated
  22. Hi, Just been loading back all my applications onto my laptop after a clean install of windows. Sadly Bitdefender Free edition is been a pain in the neck. I installed it normally without any errors or issues. Then when I went to check it worked it says its not installed. So I assumed it just needed to be reinstalled so I when to uninstall it. THEN its says its already installed during the uninstall process. So is there a way I can remove it, and reinstalled it when I cant go through the typical unistall process? Anyone else encounting this annoying issue this is the second time bitdefender has decided to mess with me. Cheers.
  23. so i want to play a game but bitdefender is using 100% disk for 20 mins already any reason why? updating? shouldn't take that long right?
  24. Hi, I've been trying to add a false positive file to my exclusions but bit defender is preventing me from even clicking "add to exclusions" or not doing anything at all. Any suggestions on this or is this a common issue with the free version of bitdefender? Cheers
  25. Hey guys, since my Norton antivirus subscription just expired, I looked for other antivirus programmes, as I heard, that Norton has some severe malware detection problems. Therefore I decided to switch my "security provider", and KasperskyLabs and Bitdefender were the first ones, that came into my mind. As I can't decide which one to take, I decided to ask you guys for a solution. Thank you very much in advance!
