  1. I bought the NZXT player one model, this is my first pc. I have watched tons of videos from LTT and other popular tech content creators. Ever video I have seen says to enable XMP. Here are the specs of the pre build: CPU Intel® Core™ i5-12400F GPU NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3050 Memory 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR5 5200 MHz Motherboard B760 Storage 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD PSU 650W Gold Is there any conflict with the motherboard or anything that would make turning on XMP cause any harm or slowly damage something?
  2. Hi, I recently wanted to try my luck with performing a xeon mod for an LGA775 board. I think that I succeeded with the socket modification, and the cpu modification (adding the mod adapter). The cpu did heat up, but it didn't post. So I checked that my motherboard does support quad core CPUs. I took out the bios memory, and used a universal programmer to copy the .bin file of bios. Then I changed the file extension from .bin to .rom and I used the MMTOOL to insert the microcodes into the bios file. And the problem is, how can I create a boot-able usb to update my bios? My motherboard doesn't have a usb flash port and it doesn't have any way to select a drive to flash bios in the bios. And of course I can't flash it using software on my lubuntu drive. (I still can use the OS with the previous cpu) The modified bios file in the attachment. The xeon model is e5440. please send help :< xeon modified.rom
  3. So I have spent the better part of 2 weeks (in my free time) trying to sort out what exactly is going on with this thing. Let me air out this story for some context. I had purchased this kit off of eBay almost as soon as I had seen the posting. It was a solid price ($551USD) and already had the upgraded Sunrich S-331 backplane so I was pretty stoked that there really wouldn't be anything for me to do beside have fun... Specs - 1 x SuperMicro X9SRH-7TF 1 x Intel Xeon E5-1620V2 4 x Hynix HMT31GR7CFR4C-PB 8GB DDR3 3 x PI49230-2X2B 2 x PSM-5760V Fast forward to today and it's honestly been a huge headache. Initially after the first boot, I was having issues with the board either not detecting my keyboard or locking up entirely. So I had spent some time reading the manual and had sorted out howe to reset the BIO to factory defaults. So I did what anyone else does and I pulled the motherboard and found that there were a 2 standoffs that didn't correlate to any holes so I had assumed the board maybe had died. Reached out to the seller to request a new board ands the sent one over. Out of curiosity I put the board on a test bench to tinker around and behold it boots? I thought ok, maybe that wasn't the issue, after a quick bios check, and adding one PCIe card it would bios lock, so I had assumed ok maybe it is dead. New board arrived, and I had assembled it in the chassis(after removing the problematic standoffs) I verified a few times that everything was in order before booting and on first boot it boot locks...again.. seemingly on bios code B4. I have since spent 4 hours along with a few friends troubleshooting various things and still no luck. Ubuntu doesn't recognize any drives (attached to the board directly or to the backplanes) and it still will lock up during post for some unknown reason. The board is on BIOS version 3.0 and the new version don't have any relevant updates so here I am, asking if anyone else has had this issue. Not sure what else to try, the backplanes don't work with my desktop (No Post) and directly adding the drive bypassing the backplanes also yields no success. Thanks in advance and hopefully I'm just an idiot :/ IMG_2155.HEIC IMG_2137.HEIC
  4. Hi. I have a Gigabyte 4090 Gaming OC for less than a year, running with some mild undervolt with MSI AB, that has been stable since day 1. However, 5 days ago, I updated "successfully" the BIOS for the GPU. I updated the BIOS because the previous one had some fan revving issues and the new BIOS is supposedly addressing this issue. I used Gigabyte Control Center (GCC) for the BIOS flash and the app showed the update as correctly applied. Immediately, I uninstalled the crappy GCC but then, after 2 hours using the PC (web searching, nothing intensive), it froze showing artifacts. Since then I've tried to reinstall Nvidia drivers (DDU + installation of latest drivers), but after some hours it froze again at start-up. I have also tried to reinstall GCC as some Reddit posts were showing similar issues after uninstalling it, but after 1 day, the PC froze again showing artifacts also at Windows start-up. Then, for the last 4 days the GPU has been working fine (gaming too), until this morning the same happened at start-up screen. The thing is, I'm assuming there's a problem with the new BIOS, but after contacting Gigabyte support center, they replied stating that there's no way to revert the BIOS to the previous one. My main questions are: Is there a way to downgrade the BIOS safely? I know about the existence of Nvflash, but I'm not sure if it can be used to safely downgrade the BIOS. I have only found info of that being used for upgrades, not downgrades. Could the BIOS actually be the culprit for the artifacts? Or even a software issue? I've tried the GPU on my former system, and it has also crashed (so, I haven't even bothered to create a partition for a clean Windows install). Should I RMA it before doing anything else that could render the GPU completely unusable? I'm typing this with the 4090 running and I'm sure I coulde do some intensive gaming with it for hours before crashing again (so, at least now I'm able to post and start Windows with it). I'm attaching some pictures with the artifacts. Thanks!
  5. Hello, I have a Lenovo Legion Y520-15IKBM with 8GB of ram, and today I have bought 2 Crucial 16GB 3200mhz, but after the installation this is what it shows me in task manager: I tried to the benchmark it running a game of PUBG to see if there is any change, but no succes, still at 2400 I tried to activate XMP to use te full speed but I could not find any advanced settings in BIOS. Also, I have just updated to the latest version of the BIOS using Lenovo Ventage but sadly still no results. Does anyone know how to access advanced option in BIOS in order to activate XMP or how to use the full speed of my rams ? I will put some ss of CPU-Z
  6. Hi, I was wondering if it's possible to flash the D946GZIS BIOS to the D946GZAB motherboard with a positive outcome. I was planning on replacing the e2160 CPU for a XEON e5440 to the GZAB and I can't manage to find a .rom file of the D946GZAB BIOS (I found only .exe). Or maybe anyone knows where i can find the BIOS for D946GZAB in a .rom format?
  7. I recently bought 2 extra sticks of the same RAM i had in my motherboard, increasing it to 32GB with a speed of 3000MHz. Although the capacity shows up correctly, the RAM speed is shown as 900MHz or 1400MHz with game boost and an A-XMP profile on. I've also checked if my mother board is supported for such RAM speeds and it sure is, it says that it could go up to 3200MHz and even more. I've recently done a factory reset wiping all drives and also migrating my OS to a different drive, yet the issue still persists, with game boost and A-XMP my computer also seems to crash sometimes. I have provided a screenshot of CPU-Z RAM currently running + the SPD tab, perhaps the timings or/and voltages ar off. Specs: Ryzen 5 2600X GTX 1660TI GDDR6 6GB MSI B450M BAZOOKA V2 G-SKILL AEGIS 32GB 3000MHZ
  8. Hello! Introduction to the problem: This issue is not mine to solve but one I attempted to help my younger brother with and am now having issues with. I will include all the necessary info via a photo of his system info. I gifted my younger brother his first PC with what was my first starter build, his mother board is an ASRock B450m/ac, originally it only had 250gb ssd installed, this eventually became a problem for him as he's a gamer and is currently playing the new COD MW3, any players of the current COD games would know this game is extremely storage taxing and will take up most of the storage when all you have is 250gb to work with, I instructed him to buy a new ssd with at least 1T of storage if he wants to be able to play the games he is wishing to be able to play on the pc as COD was obviously not going to work error free when he was only allowed 5gb of storage when the game is fully downloaded. He was running out of storage during the gameplay thus causing the game to crash when it would reach its limit. He purchased a Crucial P3 1TB PCIe 3D NAND NVMe M.2 SSD (C1000P3SSD8) via my instruction and go ahead as I'd checked over and over with multiple sources whether or not it was compatible with his current motherboard and got a confirmation every time that it was indeed compatible. The problem: I instructed him to use his external hdd to install a windows 11 backup media so that he may reinstall it once the new M.2 was installed, which he did successfully. Once he'd removed and installed the new M.2 to his pc, and attempted to reboot, his PC will not boot into BIOS at all. He's tried every key possible, we've checked if it was installed correctly several times, we have been totally unsuccessful with every troubleshooter i was able to find, i've never had an issue such as this and am running out of options for support aside from taking the PC to get looked at by tech support at our local shops. If anyone could get back to me today/tonight about this solution i'd be very appreciative, as I was the one instructing him during this process and I dont want to scare him away from buying and installing his own PC parts in the future, thank you in advance! All system information provided in the attached Photo
  9. Hi all, Edit: the issue seems to be more fundamental. I can get into BIOS, and I opened hardware monitor to look at my CPU temps and after being there for a while I wanted to close it and my BIOS froze. Rest of the story provides context on how I got to this situation... I'm slightly panicking here. I had a good working setup with just Windows 11 (pro) installed (upgraded from Windows 10 pro) on my newly build machine (tech specs will follow). I installed Ubuntu as dual boot in a separate partition on the same SSD as my windows is located. It booted into MOK (I had secure boot set up) but I had issues with that so I passed it. It booted fine a couple of times when so I performed the necessary updates but after that it the problems started. I reboot into ubuntu and at the login screen it works fine, but trying to login in or open a different tty (ctrl+alt+f2 e.g.) it froze again (not getting into the desktop at all when logging in or not even reaching the tty). I tried rebooting into windows and I'm getting a different BSOD every time. Trying to boot into Windows recovery mode works, but when opening CMD I'm getting different BSODs as well. Couple I've had were: - IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL in ntoskrnl.exe - MEMORY_MANAGEMENT when trying to run DISM in cmd in recovery And a couple more but didn't have time to take a picture because my pc rebooted immediately. I tried swapping the boot order back hoping that was the cause, but then my BIOS froze... I don't understand how to get the dump files in this situation since booting from my Windows 10 install USB is freezing as well on the windows logo. My BIOS is on E7E26AMS.150 (just the version with which it shipped) and I see on the MSI page that there is a BIOS update available. But honestly, with my BIOS freezing I'm really afraid to start flashing a new version on it... what If it happens during the update? OS - Windows 11 + Ubuntu 22.04 dual boot x86 (32-bit) (i think I'm sorry I'm not sure) What OS was originaly installed on the system? Windows 11 pro retail Is the OS an OEM version (came pre-installed on system) or full retail version (YOU purchased it from a retailer)? purchased from retailer Age of system (hardware) less than a month Age of OS installation - have you re-installed the OS? less than a month CPU model AMD Ryzen 5 7600X Boxed Video Card model ASRock AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT Phantom Gaming 20GB OC MotherBoard - (if NOT a laptop) B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI (MS-7E26) Power Supply - brand & wattage (if laptop, skip this) Seasonic Focus GX-750 System Manufacturer what? Things I tried: tried going into Ubuntu advanced, pick the older version in recovery but after browsing in the settings for a while it crashes and spews out this enormous log (see attached picture). tried booting into my Ubuntu boot USB but that freezes at boot logo tried booting into my Windows 10 pro USB but that freezes at boot logo
  10. Yo! So for a month I have had a total of 4 freezes on my computer. It always happens during load (gaming). The freeze consists of everything literally freezing exactly in place and nothing else happening. The fans keep spinning as normal, pc keeps running. Nothing happens everything is just froozen. The 3 first times this happended i was able to just unplug the cable and then start up the PC again. But now the 4th time the pc will not start up again after I unplugged the cable. It tried to start for 10sec, red light on CPU all time (on mobo), then after 10 sec it shuts off and restarts the process. The PSU is tested and the computer does not work with another one. Unplugging GPU does not work. So my thoughts is that this has something to do with BIOS and maybe a corrupt socket firmware. I tried CMOS reset but it does absolutely nothing. I did a update using the Intel ME update tool somewhere around when this issue began, maybe it could be related? If anyone has any ideas or is experiencing anything similar I would really appreciate all help! 11. hi all, a bit of a weird predicament here. i had an old ssd that i had replaced because the OS was broken and yesterday i decided as i was cleaning my pc to plug it in to grab some old files and whatnot. i had to unplug it and re plug in the old ssd to get my computer to boot, but it was working and i got my files. i ran malwarebytes to make sure i had no viruses or anything and it came back clean. і left my pc on overnight and fast forward this morning, i decide to restart it and unplug my old drive to wipe later. now my pc won't boot, fans won't spin, no lights on motherboard or gpu. i already tried plugging it in again, clearing cmos (both with motherboard button and with the pins on the motherboard), tried booting with the old ssd plugged in, and then tried again with it unplugged. nothing seems to be working. does anyone have any ideas or insight? thanks! i'll try to answer questions in the comments, and i'll test some solutions when i am home from work Specs in case it helps: Ryzen 7 5800x Aorus b550 Elite mobo 32gb gskill ram 3070ti Boot drive is a 1tb nvme ssd 2tb games drive 4tb games drive and the old ssd is a 500gb sata ssd.
  12. I have ran into an issue. I have contacted Asus support and the retailer for this incident. I can't enter the BIOS at all. But Windows boots normally. I have tried: - Accessing BIOS through UEFI Firmware settings. - Using both monitors (DP), single monitor and single monitor HDMI. - Removed my GPU and run via intergrated Graphics (HDMI, DP) - Flashing BIOS to newest available update (successful) - Removing CMOS (at least 5 minutes) - Updating DP firmware for Nvidia - Changing CMOS Battery - Shorting CMOS pins - Removing all but 1 RAM stick - Removing both NVMe drives - Flashed BIOS to latest update (successful) - Tried to use an older GPU (GTX 1070) I get no crashes while using the computer normally. No indication of anything acting odd. At this point im clueless of what the cause of the issue is and i'd gladly take some advice as this is getting frustrating. I only want to access the BIOS to change boot mode to Secure Boot. 13. Hi everyone. I bought a new pc. I have an MSI B650-S pro mb and gigabyte windforce 4070 super. After booting it up, i cant see the loading screen and it only shows the win11. When i tap to del button to enter bios or f11 to select an os, there is nothing too. I am sure that it goes to bios because the windows doesnt come. These problems only occur with DP and not with hdmi. I tried connecting DP cable to cpu (ryzen 5 7600) but the result was same. what is the issue?
  14. Hello, I'm going to sound like the biggest wuss ever but I need to update my bios for a certain update. Now I'm actually scared of doing this but I know what I'm doing. For some reason I think my power is going to suddenly go out and that's it for my motherboard even though it has a dual bios. Why am I like this, I don't understand why I can't bring myself to update the bios. Any ways on whihc I can reassure myself. Many Thanks, Fire!
  15. I have Asus TUF B450m Pro Gaming and I'm just looking at the bios then I saw this one. It has two modes. Normal mode and the Asus Optimal. Is it fine if I tune in the Asus Optimal? Is it like, overclocking? It also indicates it'll boost perfomance so I'd like to try it. But I'm not sure if it's safe.
  16. Hello fellow enthusiasts. I have run into a problem with my bios for my Gigabyte R5 KD Gaming laptop. I hadnt updated it in a little over a year and when I did after doing maintenance on the internals, I.E. cleaning and repasting, I figured I would go ahead and do so. well I went from having a great laptop, to now a laptop that I can't tune(overclock), control the fans and can no longer configure my RGB. The gigabyte control center also no longer recognizes that its a gigabyte product. Please help. I cant even find the old bios file to roll it back. My old bios was from 2022 and it was amazing. The old bios looked like the red picture and the new one is the garbage insyde one.
  17. So... After a while, I finally got around to installing my brand new Crucial MX500 4TB... and it isn't working. It does not show up in the Windows Explorer, but my BIOS does detect it. I am very confused... I also know that I plugged it into a working SATA-Port, namely no.2 - 5&6 don't work because I have a M.2 installed. I use the B450 Tomahawk Max motherboard btw. If anyone else experienced this issue with the Crucial MX500, please let me know. I don't want to realize I have bought a 300€ paperweight. Thanks!
  18. Hi everyone, So a few days ago, my pc just didn't want to boot to windows anymore. It sucks, but I didn't mind as I wanted a clean windows install. Now is the problem that it just doesn't want to boot to the USB. I have tried pretty much everything, changed bios settings, resetting the bios, and it still just freezes with its loading circle. I bought a new USB stick, put the windows' installment on it and it still wont boot to it or anything else. Does anyone have any idea what i can do to fix it? Thanks in advance for at least reading this.
  19. Hey! So I know that UEFI is the new fancy bios with all the fancy gui and secure boot and stuff. Legacy bios is the old one for MBR systems. However, I read that there is a performance difference when installing an Operating System from UEFI bios and LEGACY bios. Is this true? If yes, which one should I go for while installing the OS?(Windows, Linux dualboot)
  20. so i installed an NVMESSD (WD Black SN850X) in my MSI B450 Tomahawk Max which does not support PCIE Gen4, i have installed the SSD correctly, my bios is up to date, the ssd is working but maybe after a day or two when i turn the pc on it does not show neither on windows nor on Bios, if i open and reattach the ssd it shows up again, i have checked with crystal disk info and even bios's built in m.2 checker, both shows that the SSD is new and no errors there, the other day i did not even have to open up the ssd and its back to showing, from bios i just changed storage to raid and turned it on to a blue screen and after reversing it to as it was the SSD was back and now my other sata storage devices were not showing in the bios, one of which contained window, but getting out of bios the pc booted up in windows and was showing all the devices including problematic SSD, do u think it is the issue of the motherboard? the SSD itself? or Bios?
  21. I bought a mining card from china but after installing it and using it for about 2 weeks, drivers started acting up driver crashes or freezing. Been searching up for bios for the card and have found none yet anybody got the same card? please upload
  22. I replaced the motherboard, cpu and memory recently as I upgraded, but I've been having all sorts of issues at complete random and I have no idea what the culprit is. To start, sometimes the pc boots with zero issues. No freezing, no bsod, no nothing. But then randomly, it'll do this (images attached). It freezes on booting, it'll glitch the bios completely out. And the bios will freeze up, and the pc with put out an A9 error on the board. I'll also hear the 1 long beep and 3 short beeps (at least i think that's what it is unless it's the gpu fans being squeaky? Sounds like its coming from the gpu.) But I just replaced the memory and it's the same issue on both kits, so it can't be that. I also have integrated graphics so is it possible the dedicated gpu would cause a freeze even with Integrated graphics? I have seen a few nvlddmkm errors in windows while playing games, so maybe it could be a gpu issue? I just bought a new motherboard, memory, and cpu so those are returnable if they are the issue. I think it could be the gpu but I don't know with the bios being wacky. I do have the latest bios version and drivers as well. I honestly have no idea anymore so if anyone has any ideas that would be helpful. 23. I have a HP Probook 430 G4. Whenever i restart, it says "Press ESC key for startup menu". The button doesnt seem to do anything. Even after spamming ESC and F10 the BIOS doesnt open up. What should I do?
  24. Hello, Recently I've been looking on windows 11 and my tpm is turning off and on irregularly. I looked on my motherboards website and clearly states "Change default status of AMD PSP fTPM to Enabled for addressing basic Windows 11 requirements (https://support.microsoft.com/windows/1fd5a332-360d-4f46-a1e7-ae6b0c90645c)". Now I'm really not a person who understands bios updates, however I know how to use the bios ... typical. Now I have a 2nd gen processor and one of the updates says "update AMD AGESA ComboV2 1.2.0.3 B for Ryzen 5000 G-Series processors support". It will still support my ryzen 7 2700x after the update right? I also want to install a new bios because mine is 4 years old. Any help is greatly appreciated, Thank you!
  25. As title states, I have a machine running Ubuntu Desktop (for now) that successfully booted. I tried to configure a 2 hardware RAID 1 arrays on 4 of the non-boot HDDs, and after applying the config in BIOS, I'm hanging on the BIOS logo screen for 20 mins with no change. This is the second time this has happened; previously this resulted in a total motherboard bricking. CPU: AMD 5600G; using the integrated graphics MB: MSI Pro B550-VC AM4 ATX Boot SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB HDDs: 2x 1TB WD Blue drives, 2x 4TB WD Red Drives (connected via Sata, all showed up in the BIOS) OS: Ubuntu Desktop (just to test the config; likely moving to debian) BIOS config: enabled RAID mode, restarted, cleared the drives, applied 2 RAID 1 arrays. This has me completely stumped. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you
