I have 2 gpus one for me and one that i was gonna put in my sisters pc, she doesn't need that much performance so i bought her an rx 470 mining edition and i tried to flash it with new bios. But i think i flashed it with the wrong bios. I didn't notice anything apart from that i wasn't getting video output from the hdmi but i was using parsec to see my screen. I wanted to test the performance with a benchmark but noticed the fans weren't spinning. I went to turn it off but too late, my green looked all messed up and green. I'm pretty sure this one i can throw away. My other gpu (r9 270x) i also tried flashing the bios because i think it got corrupted somehow because it wouldn't update the drivers because Radeon didn't recognise the card. I flashed the bios that went well and i could update the drivers now, but while trying to flash my other gpu for my sister i accidentally flashed my r9 270x with the rx 470 drivers, i think i forgot to change a 0 to a 1 or the other way around. Now i dont know how it works and how can fix this, i cant get video output from my pc and idk how to flash a bios of another card without video output. Is it even still fixable if i had a functional card or are both GPUs dead? You're my only hope.

so i recently got an msi b650 tomahawk wifi board for my 7950X3D. 1. ive formatted the usb in fat32 and made sure it was mbr 2. loaded the latest bios version onto the drive and renamed it to MSI.ROM accordingly 3. connected my 4-pin cpu power and 24-pin mobo power to the psu and powered the psu on 4. stuck in the usb drive to the port labeled bios flash and pushed the flash button for about 3 seconds at this point, as soon as i push the button, the white flash bios led stays on for about 5-7 seconds before turning off, then slowly flashing only 5 times. the led doesnt turn on afterward. no other led on the board turns on during this process either. from what i understand currently, this isnt supposed to happen. it should be noted i dont have any memory, ssd, or cpu installed on the mobo. its just sitting on its box connected to the psu. ive also already replaced the 3v cmos battery as well. any help on this would be greatly appreciated! specs if that matters: mobo: MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk WiFi cpu: AMD Ryzen 7950X3D psu: Seasonic Prime TX-1000 Titanium ram: G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 gpu: MSI Gaming X TRIO RTX 4080 16 GB

I have an Asus TUF B550 Plus and a Ryzen 5 5600x. I am attempting to do the bios flashback with a usb. As soon as I plug in the power and flip the PSU switch the bios button is already flashing. So I plug the usb in and hold it for three seconds but the light does not blink any faster. I unplugged and redownloaded the bios update and am attempting it again, and the light is just steadily blinking, and when I held the bios button it did not blink any faster. I read online manuals but didnt really find a solution to my problem. I thought maybe the BIOS was already up to date but I tried booting it up and it didnt post. Would greatly appreciate any help!

Hi. I started on this build yesterday and I'm running into a couple of issues. Here's the specs: MOTHERBOARD: Asus ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING (WI-FI) ATX AM4 GPU: Asus GeForce RTX 3070 8 GB DUAL OC CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X RAM: G.Skill Trident Z 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) 3600 MHz (PC4-28800) (F4-3600C17D-32GTZSW) PSU: Corsair RMx 850 W 80+ Gold (CP-9020188-EU) STORAGE: Western Digital Black SN850 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME BIOS TESTED: BIOS-1801 or BIOS-1202 When I boot I have no peripherals lighting up and the "error lights" stop at the white VGA LED. When I unplug the GPU it sometimes allows the peripherals (keyboard/mouse) to light up, but the white VGA LED stays on. All 7 fans and 2 cpu cooler fans are running fine. M.2 SSD had contact in BIOS. Voltage to internals were fine. RAM showed 32GB. The furthest I got while testing things were to the bios at latest version 1801. Everything was running fine and I checked if everything had connection and power. I was about to start installing Windows after being in bios and the display shut right off before we got started. When I restarted it I was back to square one with the white LED lighting up and no contact with GPU again. - Flashed 2 different bios. - Cleared CMOS battery. - Taken GPU into PCIe 4.0 slot and PCIe 3.0 slot and tested everything on both places. - Tried several different cables and cable configurations from the PSU to try to make sure it wasn't a PSU problem or connection problem. All the parts should be compatible and the only thing I thought would end up being a bit tricky was if something acted up due to the 5800x and the RTX 3070 being new products. Thought maybe an old bios would be the only issue when getting started. I should say this is the first build I've done in about 10 years so I thought I might get some problems. Is there anything else I can do? Do you know how I can solve this? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Okay so I took the mobo out the box pre tested my psu and made sure everything was right. I followed these steps rename the BIOS file to MSI.ROM format the usb to FAT32 and move it onto the usb connect the cpu_pwr1 and atx_pwr1 from your psu (plug in your psu first) plug the usb w/ the file into the "Flash BIOS Port" in the rear IO press the flash bios button on your MOBO and the LED should flash and then once the process is done your LED will turn off my psu hasn't turned off and neither has the stupid blinking on my USB or the motherboard light beside the flash button. that light is staying hard red while the usb is flashing. I read other threads and a bunch of people just returned the mobo and it worked the 2nd time but is there anything I'm missing before I do that? If there isn't, does anyone know how I can cancel the flash without bricking my mobo?

I have an MSI B450 Tomahawk Max motherboard and a Ryzen 5 3400g processor. I can't boot until I update the BIOS with the flash BIOS option and a USB drive with the correct BIOS. I've been using the correct BIOS and renaming the file to "MSI.ROM" but every single time without fail I'll plug in the USB, turn on the power supply, push the flash BIOS button, and nothing happens. If I remove the usb and push the button, the light flashes three times and then stays off and from what I read, that means it doesn't detect the USB which would make sense since there's nothing plugged in. I have it plugged into the correct USB port and it must be recognizing it right since it doesn't flash three times with the USB plugged in? I've tried everything and searched everywhere on the internet and talked to MSI, nothing has worked so far. Also I've tried this with and without the CPU and RAM installed, no difference there. Edit: The system does NOT and has NOT ever booted, the CPU is good I tested it in another system.

So i tried to update the bios for a motherboard, with the steps told in the manual, renamed the file to MSI.ROM, and everything goes as it should except for the fact that it never ends. I have probably left it going for about 30-40 minutes and never ends. Might the motherboard be dead? The motherboard is the msi b550 gaming plus. Also after seeing that something was wrong i decided to try with a different version, first i tried agesa 1.1.0, and later agesa 1.0.8.1 but neither of them worked.

I am trying to upgrade my CPU from A10 9700 to Ryzen 5 5600g. I currently have bios version 56.. The dots indicating more numbers I can't see because it won't post. I need bios version 6042 but the only cpu that will work is my old one. When I try upgrade to 6042 on my old one (which would cause it to stop working but I don't mind that) it says it's not a valid bios and doesn't match the bios ROM or something. Because the bios won't update past 56.. it's impossible to use my new cpu even though it is on my motherboards supported list. The motherboard is a ASUS PRIME A320M-R. Any help of how to overcome the error of not allowing me to update my bios and make the old cpu unusable would be great. Thanks

Hi Everyone, I know there have been a number of videos on YouTube about BIOS Flashing the rx 5700 to an XT model. I was interested in doing this but when I attempted it would not work. I then proceeded to go online and found out that MSI had made some specific perimeters around the cars stopping this from happening. I then found that there was a way around it but it didn’t make sense to me. If anyone has had this problem or knows how to fix it could you please help me. Thanks

Guys, I just flashed my Palit GTX970 Jetstream sevral times now and I get almost the same results as before. What might be the rason? Are Palit cards hard locked or what? In benchmarks i have higher scores but in BF4 my core was 1515mhz now is 1519mhz or maybe 15130 -something. WHAT IS THE REASON ????The screen shows 1605mhz but it crashes. i give a link to the BIOS i edited:https://mega.nz/#!4hZknLYL!_ZR8yANMLDEOrD30ePV5TFyUfggvXOhNKM0b-hRdzBQ

Hi guys, 1st time poster. Recently my 1 year old pc''s hdd turned into a brick so it was replaced with a WD Blue 1tb. It's my only drive. Drive seems to work fine when pc boots (eventually) problem is getting past post. Usually have to manually slept the drive to boot from but...BUT.. I'm having issues now where I can't open the UEFI or Boot options and it hangs on the manufacures splash screen (where it says press f2 etc) can't open the UEFI or boot menu and when I try it freezes on that screen and I have to restart. When it does work though it won't boot straight to OS despite setting the drive as primary boot option it just wants to boot from ipv4 and I need to manually select the drive. I keep seeing people say I need to update/flash the bios but according to UEFI when it loads, I'm using the latest that ASUS have to download on their site no idea what this is and it's upsetting me. Tried swapping sata ports and cables to no avail. Any help would be loved. Sorry for ranting

There should be two ways to update bios with an USB drive, one is to put bios files on a fat32 USB (should it be empty?) and update it from a bios flashing utility. Second way is to download a DOS version of bios and make a bootable USB, this way bios can be updated outside a motherboard's flashing utility. Are these valid ways to update a bios?
-
I am attempting to flash my motherboard BIOS to the latest version via the bootable USB DOS method. The motherboard in question is an MSI H61MU-E35. I created the bootable USB drive, copied the BIOS update .exe file from MSI's website to the USB root directory, booted into DOS and ran the file. It seems to run through some checks, then asks me if I'm sure I want to flash the BIOS. As soon as I hit 'yes' it spits back out an error stating there was a "Problem Allocating BIOS Buffer". Does anyone know why I keep getting this error? I'm stumped. The reason I'm even bothering to update the BIOS is because I'm having trouble with the PCI-E x16 slot. The system boots and runs just fine when using an old GTX 550ti. However, when I'm trying to use a (relatively) newer R9 380x, I get nothing. No post beeps, blank screen, just nothing. I believe I've narrowed it down to the extremely outdated bios. The board was originally on ver. 10.4 and I've been able to update it all the way to 12.0 so far. However now I'm stuck trying to get it to 12.2 (the next step up) or 12.3 (the latest version and the one that's supposed to fix the PCI-E slot problem). All other flashes went easily enough, but now I'm getting the "Problem Allocating BIOS Buffer" error explained above. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to put this build together for a friend's birthday and I'd really like to get it done on time! Full system specs: CPU: i5 2500 MoBo: MSI H61MU-E35 RAM: 8gb EVGA SSC 1600mhz GPU: XFX AMD R9 380X PSU: 600 watt EVGA 80+ HDD: WD Blue 1TB

Hi, I recently ran a bios mod on my rx 470 4gb from Asus, after installing I got a black screen, even without restarting, then when I restarted, I still had a black screen, long story short, got a pen drive running dos and atiflash on it, ran it with both the igpu and with another dgpu, results were the same, it says no adapter found whenever I use the -i command or try flashing. P.S. card does not have dual bios, I believe I have found the bios chip, but am unsure as to which pins to short for a validation bypass, aswell as how long I'd need to short them for before I can let go.

I currently have a build I built off of cheap eBay parts, here's the specs: - Xeon E5-2660 - 32GB DDR3-1333 - Beyang "X79" Chinese Motherboard E5 VER 3.2S1 - RX 570 8GB - Corsair CX450 (2017) The CPU is a bit lacking in single-threaded performance in games, I'm eyeing on the Xeon E5-2690 that's going for ~$90 on eBay. So I'm looking to upgrade this system but after doing a bit of research, the 2690 is just a higher clocked 2660. I can't currently overclock my CPU on this Beyang motherboard, but I have seen options to flash the BIOS, although I still don't know which flashing tool/files to use for this specific motherboard. I've seen people overclock the 2660 to 3.9GHz, which is .1 more than the 2690's boost clock. So does anyone know the specific tools and files I need to flash the BIOS on the Beyang "X79" E5 VER 3.2S1 motherboard? Are there any other good LGA 2011 CPU's that would be a worthy upgrade (maybe the Xeon E5-2667 V2) ? I haven't seen a whole lot of benchmarks/information online for v2 Xeon CPU's for single-threaded tasks and multiple "CPU comparison" websites show different results.

Thanks, Gabriel John Caddy

This is the model: https://www.pcmag.com/review/324285/alienware-17-2014?tab=Specs I'm trying to fix this machine up for my friend, when it boots it has a black screen and just beeps constantly. I took the entire thing apart to reset the cmos batttery to no avail. From some searching online it appears that I might be able to flash a new bios onto it. But the procedure has a link to a tool that is no longer available. Can anyone help me either find the tool or find a different way to try and flash a bios.

Hello I would like to OC this card a lot more it stays at 60C on Max load. But even when I try to OC a bit more it becomes supper unstable and I think it is the power limit on this card it can only go up to 117% feels really low to me if the card dosn't go above 60-65C. Now I am thinking of flashing the card to unlock the power/voltage on this card but I have no idea how to go about this. I have read some things that people flash these bios version on the MSI gtx 1080 TI (gaming X) XOC BIOS to remove power limit completely (idk anything about XOC BIOS) ZOTAC Arctic storm bios Palit 1080ti Gamerock Premium BIOS FTW3 bios The things I would like to know is What is the risk of flashing the card. If I brick the bios of the card can I fix it (I have onboard gpu) If I can fix it how would I do this. And last how to flash the card and if I flash it do the drivers for this card still work or do I need to install the drivers form the bios that is flashed on it. Thanx in advance PS i have flashed AMD cards in the past for mining

Installing F4 from F3 worked fine, but after installing BIOS F5a on a Gigabyte Aorus Master sTRX40, my Windows installation would not boot. I thought the BIOS wasn't seeing the drive etc etc so I booted from a disc and did startup repair and then it went straight in! I noticed that I no longer have a UEFI partition, or a system reserved partition. Instead I have a random 128MB partition as the F: drive letter on my SSD and a 261MB unallocated partition. My secondary HDD also has a random 185MB unallocated partition. Running system information showed the BIOS mode is Legacy! I have no idea how this has happened! I have never ever converted from UEFI to Legacy! Also in disk management if I right click the SSD, it says "convert to GPT" as greyed out implying it has also been converted to MBR in the process. Please can somebody explain how I can convert it back to UEFI, convert it back to GPT, and get the necessary partitions back so I can boot up and undo what Windows has done? Thank you in advance!

Hey there, could someone please explain to me(in detail please, don't have much experience with this sorta stuff so please explain it thoroughly) alright, so the reason i want to flash the bios is because windows cant be installed because of multiple error codes, these are the error codes:''KERNEL MODE HEAP CORRUPTION'', ''SYSTEM THREAD NOT HANDLED'', ''PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGED AREA'', KERNEL SECURITY CHECK FAILURE'', ''BADPOOL HEADER'' and ''DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL''. those are all the error codes i got while trying to install windows. so thought was that maybe installing a fresh bios might fix this. and with 8gb of ram the thing wouldnt even let me get to the installation of windows, it would just stay stuck on the screen included in the files and pressing f11 didn't do anything while that screen was showing and i also wouldnt be able to enter the bios, with 4gb ram i was able to enter the bios though. so i hope flashing the bios will fix these issues, but i dont know how to flash the bios on this motherboard. so could someone please explain it to me? Thanks in advance! Kind regards Stefan

Hello all, I am working on a tower for my uncle, it seems that there was a issue with the display being that it had none. No display from the Graphics card (GTX 750 TI). After cleaning the inside of the case so there wasn't so much dust in it I began to attempt problem solving the issue. I was able to find the manual for the motherboard online at ASUS. I promptly unplugged the power supply from the motherboard and all cards in the computer, as well as the HDD and optical drive. I removed all cards from the PCI slots, and disconnected all plugs from the case that connect to the motherboard. I then removed the motherboard from the case after making sure my ESD protector was connected properly. After which I removed the ram and cleaned the pins as per instructions. I cleaned out the rest of the case. I checked the power supply with a 24 pin power supply tester, everything had the appropriate values. At this point I connected the power supply to the motherboard and reconnected the power button from the case to the motherboard. I put one stick of ram (240 pin 2 GB DDR3) back in and connected a monitor to the motherboard directly with a VGA cable, I connected the HDD to the motherboard following this. I turned on the power supply and the motherboard came back with a green light. I pressed the power button, the fan for the heat sink turned on and the HDD made its usual sounds. Though I still had no video, so I turned the computer off. I then tried changing the Bios battery to a fresh one and turned the computer back on, still no video output. My next step was to reset the CMOS, this fixed the video issue and the screen started to display. This is where I'm stuck though. When the monitor turned on it was displaying Going back to the ASUS website I found the BIOS and downloaded it. I put the BIOS ROM onto a fresh toshiba 32gb USB drive that was formatted to FAT32 and connected it to the computer. When the computer loaded up back to the Boot Lock screen it recognized that there was a USB drive connected and attempted to read the file which was named "CG5270.ROM". The BIOS Recovery program was unable to find the file on the USB though it was named correctly. After this I burned the file to a CD and then attempted to recover in that mannor but the computer also didn't recognize that the file was on the CD. So my question is, am I doing something wrong with the file when I put it on the USB or burn it to a CD? I have tried putting in a different piece of RAM which I know works, I changed the power supply though I know it works to another that I also know works, I changed the CPU to a known working one. I'm not sure what else to do.
