Hello everyone ! I come to seek advice since this was my first PC build and I've always loved the channel so I could not think of a better community to ask my question. Here is the problem: The love of my life is a compact gaming PC, a H200 from NZXT with a i5 9600k and a GTX 2060. Recently my SSD M2 nvme died (RIP) and I lost all my data. This happened while playing the new COD and the worst part is I was winning a gun game after a streak of defeats :' (. I noticed high peak of heat during +2h gaming sessions (80-90°C for CPU) and I'm wondering if the airflow might be the problem and the heat could have killed my SSD. I have : - 2 x 140 mm Be Quiet fans for intake in the front - Be quiet Dark Rock pro 4 for CPU - 2 x 120 mm NZXT fans for extraction in back and top The thing is having to do a clean install and loosing all those files has been a pretty big downer since I'm a developer so I'm considering modifying this before any new gaming session. The filter mesh for the intake fans was pretty dusty so I got those cleaned up but the CPU cooling and extractions fans are really close to each other and the NZXT fans are not that good. Also the SSD migh have been partially faulty since it was a cheap Kingspec from China (didn't really know what was good back then). I was thinking about : - Corsair Watercooling H80i v2 - 2x 120mm Be Quiet Shadow Wing (to replace NZXT fans) - SSD M2 Heat Sink from Aliexpress (https://bit.ly/2tfODgc) with thermal pads on both sides This would better the airflow given the massive size of the Dark Rock pro but at the same time I don't want to spent 140 € if it won't have a real impact on the high heat peaks. Do you guys think the dust + bad extraction could be responsible ? Should I change for a smaller CPU cooling to have better airflow ? Sorry for pics quality.

I put the planned components as the tags, this computer has no storage, just kidding. I have spent about 100+ hours watching Youtube and reading articles and tech specs to reach this conclusion, and although I feel confident in these components compatibilities, I have a few ponderings concerning tweaking this build. First: I learned that turbo clocking was recently introduced where the CPU raises the MHz of one core; however, 9th generation Intel seems to boost all cores indiscriminately, resulting in extreme thermals. I don't want to buy an i9 just to have to turn off multi-threading and end up with an overpriced i7. I also don't want to run my chip higher than 60°C, sacrificing longevity just to get a decent performance out of it (and hopefully this high-end, quiet air cooler can maintain because I don't want liquid-cooling). Due to most of my productivity being in Maya and other frequency specific tasks, my ideal clock rate is at around 4.7 GHz and I like the notion of having multi-threading in case I ever have a chore for the cores, so I don't think I could easily sacrifice it for an i7 in this build... First questions: 1. Can I turbo-clock a single core in this chip in the system BIOS? 2. Will my CPU cooler keep thermals safe at 4.7 GHz? 3. Does having many cores help when using GPU rendering or any aspect of modern modeling/rigging/animating or multitasking? (Specifically having 16 vs 8 virtual cores) Second: I originally chose the Asus WS z390 Pro due to its higher quality VRm compared to the Prime z390-A, but after reviewing an article comparing the best motherboards for the z390 chipset I noticed that Gigabyte touted a stronger review across all their versions for this chipset. Then noticing that the top choice with this brand was only $220 instead of over $500, I figured this savings could help buy me a 4K monitor. I've never built a computer, nor have I ever looked into a PCs BIOS before, so I am unsure of whether this motherboard allows me to select individual core turbo-clocking... Second questions: 4. Should I go back to the Asus WS z390 Pro, or will this Gigabyte suffice? 5. Does this board and RTX Quadro both support SLI? 6. What was that next level version of SLI where two 8GB RAM GPUs mean 16 GB and does this board and RTX Quadro both support that? 7. Does this board only support 2 GPUs or will it also half-hazardly support 3 GPUs? #1 Refresh. Will the Aorus Pro Wifi give me the option in the BIOS for single core turbo-clocking? "Do you get it" Third: The 9th gen Intels claim support recommendations for 2666 MHz RAM, and benchmarks represent significant benefits of 3200-3600 MHz memory sweet spots. I have also noticed some comments about overclocking RAM as well as comments about filling all 4 slots instead of just 2 slots to maximize bandwidth... Third questions: 8. Should I get 2666MHz sticks and overclock to the mid 3000s etc.? 9. Should I get 4x 8GB sticks to fill DIMM up (lol) or does it not actually matter? Final: This setup was planned for building the highest-end productivity Workstation for "under $3,000" and that's why I went the K route instead of Xeon. I also chose the more expensive intel/nvidia package due to better support and needed to get the RTX card because I want this build to last the ages. With the Ray-tracing technology starting a new era in rendering and graphics and Intel reaching a dead end in the nm architecture process, what better time to stick a flag in the ground to build a machine that wouldn't be obsolete in a few years (maybe even a decade). Final question: 10. Are there any reasons I would need to use an AMD GPU in the future for programs that don't support NVidia? I know this is a lot of questions, but it seems that lay persons such as myself can only dig up so much info in the internet media as they exist fairly void of consistency and the sites that display the specs don't portray the whole picture. Feel free to reply with just the number you're answering to make this "thread" a "bit" more efficient. "Get it"
