Hello, I've got a volume problem with my Razer Barracuda X's. The issue is that listening through the type-c dongle on my phone and it's limited at about 70% (My own estimation) of what the headphones are capable of on full volume. While my phone volume is at max and so are the headphones. This bothered me but I'm currently away at camp so I lived with it for the past 4 weeks until this morning. I had been listening for the past hour when suddenly I got my ears destroyed by the volume, seemingly "unlocking" itself and starting to blast at the volume it's supposed to. Nothing on my phone changed, the dongle wasn't moved, no software thingies to make it act this way. I enjoyed my music for another 30-ish minutes, thinking that they must have fixed themselves, somehow. I unplugged the dongle, laid my headphones on the table and went about my business. The weird thing is that, later today I pick them up and expect them to blast at full volume again but I'm met with the same 70%-ish sound and it just rubbed me the wrong way. So far I've tried everything that I could think of, tried moving the dongle around, played around with the headphone volume adjuster, trying the dongle on other phones to see if the volume would be fixed but nothing is working. (These are my second pair of Barracuda X's, the first ones I've had 0 problems with). Would really appreciate if someone has any idea of what's going on and whether or not I just got unlucky with a faulty unit. =)

What is the difference between Seagate FireCuda and Barracuda hard disk drives?
-
The old barracuda used to have 7200 rpm, but newer Desktop drive and new Barracuda are questionable because it doesn't appear on any manual. and 4TB ver. is somewhat slower than 3TB on the paper so it could be 5900 rpm instead of 7200?
-
So, we just talked with Seagate tech support, and the company's new policy is that they no longer provide the RPM speed of any of their consumer grade (Barracuda) drives. There is no information in the technical documents on their website, and tech support will not give any such information out, because even to them it doesn't exist. According to the tech, they claim it's based on platter density and controller speed, and that RPM isn't important anymore. I don't have a link to this information, as we discovered it by calling Seagate directly. We were forced to do so, after checking on a 4TB Seagate drive and realizing that we couldn't find any relevant data on the RPM speed. Some sites were reporting 7200RPM, some were reporting 5900RPM and others had no information listed at all. Any thoughts on this? I'm not a fan of this policy, whatsoever (then again, I've never been a big fan of Seagate).

Hey guys, would you please help me in identifying the cause of the noise? I attached the recording. It really bothers me. It is Seagate Barracuda 10TB Pro. It is only three months old. Thank you for your help and input. Martin Hlas 005_sd.m4a

Hi, I am not sure what to do, I ran a chkdsk C: /f /x /r on my 7 months 3TB barracuda, it dismounted it, found a ton of bad clusters however it is taking forever to finish. ETA is 21 hours I suspect because of the message: the disk does not have enough space to replace bad clusters ( picture ) I ran seatools but it cannot see the drive. I am trying to salvage important data off of it but it is inaccessible. Can I just reboot and try to see if I could access the files? or is there a better way may be? Any help is appreciated. Regards. Ido

So I know this is a noon question, but I need some advice on this. Basically: I have three drives in my PC, one for Windows, a second for my games, and a third for all my other junk. I was lucky enough to find a 1TB 7200rpm WD Caviar Green drive on Craigslist for 10 bucks. Now I'm thinking of replacing my games drive with this. The one used for the games is a old 2.5 500GB 5400rpm Seagate drive. My question is: Is the WD drive going to take harm in any way from using it for gaming? I don't really care about game load time, since is probably not going to be any worse. If anyone can help me with this it would be much appreciated! (Again, this is a noob question, but you can't be good at everything, right? :P)

Hello! Basically what the title says... Are the Seagate Barracuda HDDs any good? I read some reviews and people said that they broke after 3 years. I had a 1TB Seagate Barracuda HDD in my old PC what I got in 2008 or 2009 and the HDD still works! What's the case now tough? I'm planning to buy a 3TB HDD and WD HDDs are notably more expensive than Seagates. Thank you!

If I was set on buying a 5Tb Helium filled HDD, which would be a better general use drive, the Barracuda or the Western Digital Red, and why? EDIT> My thought on why it has to be a helium drive is that the helium drive is obviously air tight (therefore water proof / resistant) so if the modified AIO I am running fails than there is a lesser risk of data loss even if the cooling failure is bad enough to damage other critical components.

I need some extra storage for game installation drive (big file game that I rarely play) so I don't wanna spend extra money on SSD and will looking toward a HDD I already have an overrated WD Black that not even fast, and a slower 5.4k rpm WD Blue ,so I think I'll go for Seagate this time. I saw new SSHD Firecuda 2TB came out, which they said it's fast, but new Barracuda 2TB is $40 cheaper.. which one is better?

I have this drive from like early 2010 or so, really no exact guesses here. So I just recently (this March) hooked up my drive to my 2016 PC (my present machine) and it is behaving abnormally since the past few months. As you can clearly see in the following images, it is just lethally going down in health consistently with some exceptional rises (as it just went up from 68% to 73% on 8 August). Should I feel worried about the data on it or is this curable? I mean I've put it currently on some Short and Long Self-tests as there are some reported bad sectors on it but I did the same test 2 months back and some sectors were repaired but not health and has been on the course of deterioration. What can be done now to prolong its life? This drive's history: Used originally for the first time in 2010-ish (Athlon-powered PC) (the only primary drive back then) Transferred to 2012 Sempron Rig and worked quite good without any issues Took out of that rig in 2014 when it went rogue on me (Read/Write speeds fell back drastically due to unknown reasons and the OS on it at that moment couldn't load properly for 7/10 times) and hooked a WD Green Caviar 2 TB and kept it that way. Never used my Barracuda since then until March of this year (stored it safely after formatting it completely and losing lots of data, kept in its Antistatic cover) Finally swapped it into my current 2016 build (A10 7890k-powered) in March 2019 and to my surprise it performed quite well without any hiccups. This was only a matter of a month or two that it has been behaving weirdly since May. Unexpected freezes, File Explorer unresponsiveness, read/write errors, and you name it all. Please go through all the images below for more info on my drive and thank you for your patience and extracting some valuable time of yours. Please Just in case, here's the amazon link.

Hello, I'm building my frist pc, I'll have a 500 GB nvme m.2 ssd as my primary drive and I already have two 3TB drives that I want to use in RAID 1 (so I won't lose my data if one of the two fails). The drives are: -Seagate Barracuda ST3000DM08 -Toshiba DT01ACA300 My question is: since the two drives have different read/write both sequential and more importantly 4k and different IOPS, would they perform at the speed of the slower drive (the Toshiba) hence making the Seagate speeds uselles. I'm pretty sure write speed are going to be the slower of the two since it has to write data on both, but what about read? Doesn't it have to read from just one of the two drives? Thanks and give me a suggestion on what I should do.

Hey, I'm just wondering. I made myself a nice PC parts listing, and was interested in getting some decent Christmas deals, so I went looking at my bookmarked listings regarding my parts list. Unfortunately, the one supplier I had for 3TB 7200RPM HDDs no longer has them in stock and may not be restocking them. So, I come here with this question: does drive speed really matter in this scenario? I'm planning to run two larger capacity (3TB for now) hard disk drives on a SATA controller for extra storage. It's more redundant media and data, stuff I really don't need to access too often. Are 7200RPM drives really worth it in that regard? Should I just settle for a pair of 5400RPM drives?

My new build will have 500gb NvMe but I want to have 2TB HDD for my games. I keep getting opinions on these drives as the best. Which of the 2 would be better to hold my games?

Seagate just released a 14TB drive under their barracuda pro brand .It seems they're stretching PMR+helium tech to the limit until HAMR drives start hitting the market . But with a 580$ MSRP , this drive ends up being around 0.04$ per GB . Not great when compared to other drives ( their own 2TB drive is about 0.03$ per GB on PcPP atm) , but it's actually quite impressive on such a large drive . source : https://www.anandtech.com/show/13340/seagate-barracuda-pro-14tb-hdd-review

So I was looking into the possibility of getting a hard drive for mass storage due to my paranoia of wearing out my single 250GB SSD that I've put into my system, which contains everything from the OS to my games. A quick look on Amazon and I come across both Seagate Barracuda and IronWolf drives, and I read into the IronWolf drive and found out it's used for NAS systems, whereas the Barracuda is for consumers. The major differences there are between the two are: • 1TB Barracuda = £36 / 1TB IronWolf = ££45 • 1TB Barracuda = 7200RPM / 1TB IronWolf = 5900RPM* • 1TB Barracuda = 210MB/s / 1TB IronWolf = 180MB/s *There's also an IronWolf Pro which is 7200RPM but the minimum is 2TB. In classic fashion, I have some questions: 1. For a normal consumer gamer like me, should I even be considering an IronWolf? 2. Since the IronWolf is for NAS, does this in theory mean it lasts longer and wears less than the Barracuda? 3. Seagate or WD?

Help me choose which of these drives is the best for gaming! The Black is 20$ more expensive than Gold and Barracuda Pro. Is it really worth the extra money or should I go with Gold or Barracuda Pro?

TL;DR - Cant seem to pin point which would be the best option, done some research about it. Really unlucky on Western Digital, 2 broken drives, never had a Seagate. Need help, budget of $130, live in the Philippines. Dont care about noise and warranty , more on performance and reliability. Also havent found an SSD. ( Link Below ) So im looking to replace my paper weight WD Blue 2tb 5400 RPM, with a much more reliable drive. I have been unlucky with Western Digital , with a 2 tb Green breaking down in 2.5 years and my 2tb Blue in 1.25 years. I dont really care for noise, what i really need is speed and reliability, or which will last the longest based on failure rates. Im going to give Seagate a try, although i have heard of their fail rates, but still put WD into consideration even if i had 2 of their drives fail. All of the drives put into conaideration are 2 TB. The Western Digital is the 2013 one, Seagate Firecuda Probably 2016, and same with Barracuda. Still havent chosen which SSD. I have done some searching and i have heard that the Seagate SSHD ( ST2000DX002 ) is really great, it comes close to an SSD on certain times and benefits the most when i play the same game, which i do. Also heard its just as fast as the Black and Barracuda except when the flash NAND comes in to play. However i do hear that whenever the SSHD is defective, it becomes incredibly slow. Also done some searching with the Black ( WD2003FZEX ) heard its better than a standard HDD, and will also benefit with loading times.i dont know how its dual processor benefits, and some said its noisy but i dont really care. I tried to compare it with the Firecuda and Barracuda but i cant seem to settle on one. I have heard that it fails by making a weird noise. I have put the Barracuda/SSD into consideration, the ST2000DM006 model feels like it will fail just the same, and the speed just the same. Although it does seem like the better option, but i have not settled on which SSD. The max capacity of an SSD that i will be able to purchase if i go with this option is 240 to 256 gb, or less. Warranty doesnt matter, because i dont live in the US, i live in the Philippines, and cant take advantage of it. I only have a year warranty regardless of any drive , i have a small budget of $130. http://dynaquestpc.com/product-category/components/harddisk-harddrive-storage-hdd-ssd-portable/harddisk-harddrive-storage-hdd-ssd-solid-state/?orderby=price This is the site where i can buy. My budget for an SSD is P4,000 ( $80 , Philippine Peso ) my overall budget is P7,250 ( $145 ) i have not chosen which SSD so you can suggest because im clueless on what to pick lol. Maybe you can also suggest a Hard Drive. Thanks.

Hey everyone! I'm in the market for more storage and I've come across a few options which seem to fit my needs in the Seagate BarraCuda line. Specifically: ST4000DM005 4Tb 7200RPM drive with 64Mb of Cache and ST4000DM004 4Tb 5400RPM drive with 256Mb of Cache My use case is generally long term storage of large files, movies, songs, shows etc. It is unlikely I would write to these drives every few weeks and it would likely be a large file of 10Gb or more. I'm not sure if going with larger cache or a faster drive would make more sense in this situation, or if going for something like a WD Red. Thoughts? TL;DR: Larger cache or faster drive for semi-frequent writes of >10gb?

Today I purchased a new Seagate Barracuda 2TB drive. I've attached it to my PC and started up my PC. I can view it on BIOS and device manager, however I cannot view it on Disk management to allocate it new volume. Can anyone help? Am i doing something wrong?

The symptoms started about a week ago, where my 1TB Seagate Barracuda HDD started going on the fritz. I noticed it when I tried running a game of League of Legends and suddenly a lot of my program icons were replaced with "Blank Page" Icons and when I'd try to run it, I received a little window asking me to browse for the file because it was not able to find it. I run my OS off an ssd, so my browsers and other light programs still run fine. I just can't get into any of my files in the hard drive, nor can I actually do anything to it. I've tried just about every trouble shooting article out there and I've decided to give in and ask my one beacon of hope before I just buy a new one. I don't have a LOT of stuff on the hard drive, but it would just be a pain in the ass to not be able to recover my files before dumping it, sentimental stuff. I'll post pics of all the error messages and weird shit I've seen since this started happening. I do want to note, that this pc I am using is made of 90% used parts, and I wouldn't be surprised if I am just experiencing hard drive failure due to wear and tear from the previous owner, who was a pc and gaming enthusiast. On the off chances that I could get my HDD to work, I noticed a HUGE blow to performance, certain parts of my games were being really glitchy and slow, my load times also took a massive cut once these problems started cropping up. In this image I left it mostly uncropped so you could see the files running off my SSD and the files running off my HDD. What the actual hell is going on and what can I do to salvage my data, since it's pretty clear I'm not gonna be able to get this hard drive back to running as normal.
