I purchased a new Samsung AU7100 65" LED TV just over 1 year ago, and within the recent weeks, it has started to develop some weird dark clouding/smudges (best I can describe) on the screen. They started off small in size, on the left-middle of the screen, but have since spread over the last few weeks, to cover about 1/4 of the left side, and now appear in small size at the top-middle, and bottom right (basically all over). These literally look like smears on the screen itself, which lead to me trying to wipe them off initially, as they do not appear smooth in their shape (like a bunch of dark/dead pixels might be), but rather random. There is no heat emitted by them, nor any flashing or odd acting pixels. They almost resemble LCD backlight bleeding, a bit instead of light bleeding in when viewing dark images, its like dark is bleeding in, with light images? They are visible when the background is light/white as shown in the images below. They are hardly visible in dark scenes which is at least a bonus. I contacted Samsung about this but as I am out of warranty, they did not care. Things I have done to try and resolve this: Turn the TV off and on again Power cycle, (unplug and leave off for an hour before turning on) Switch inputs from Apple TV, to Samsung OS, Xbox, AirPlay etc. Change all HDMI cables connected to new cables Remove all external connections Factory reset the software Play with the brightness, contrast, white balance etc. Hit with fist a few times Apply cold press to screen (saw this in a video) Apply pressure to bezels Play video that colour flashes for dead/stuck pixel's Cry Run hardware scan Turn all energy saving settings off/on All of the above did nothing, no issues reported by hardware, no changes to the clouding whatsoever. It's almost as if there are weird dark discolourations between the pixels and the laminated plastic on the surface, as brightness does nothing to them, contrast does not change them, so it cannot be the pixels themselves. The best way I can describe them is as if there are smudges on the surface of the panel that will simply not wipe off. Please do help Thank you

Hey all, I've been looking for a solution to reduce the white point on my ASUS VG27AQ TUF Gaming monitor but coming up unsuccessful. Recently I had found out about an accessibility option on my iPhone/iPad called 'Reduced White Point' which lowers the white point of those displays (seems similar to a backlight adjustment). Ideally, I'd love to have the same option for Windows 11 but can't seem to find anything similar in software. My current setup has the monitor brightness at 0%, with the blue light filter set to level 3, and picture mode set to Racing (for best color accuracy according to RTINGS). I did come across a forum post stating that reducing the brightness from within the NVIDIA control will help, which it does to a degree, but I feel like it loses color accuracy. Is there a way I can reduce the backlight (either software or hardware) on these monitors? Are there better monitors for backlight control or white point reduction? Any suggestions or helpful tips would be appreciated!

Hi guys, so a week ago i got a Corsair Veangance K70 fully mechanical keyboard, I love the keyboard so much, but i only have 1 problem. When i turn on the backlight i can hear a buzzing sound in my speakers. When i tuen off the backlight the buzzing goes away, with changing the brightness level of the keyboard the buzzing changes volume. If i turn the voume of my PC off I can still hear the buzzing, but if i turn off the sound of the speakers manuly(by turning the volume wheel) the buzzing stops. The sound file is what it sounds like(the background noise is jus me having a shitty mic). Untitled.mp3

Every time I try using my Xiaomi Mi Gaming Display 27" 165 with a DisplayPort connection to my computer (has a Rx 6800 xt), the backlight turns on for a microsecond, then turns off (see video). I believe this might be a faulty DisplayPort cable, since I got this monitor yesterday and only today have I used DisplayPort, even though it was working some hours ago. HDMI still works fine. Are there any other solutions to this problem? VID_20230713013256.mp4

Evening. I bought my first Windows laptop for studies about a 1.5 years ago (Zephyrus M15) and it had quiet many issues, but there is one specific issue that is bugging me - Backlight not working after an update issued by MyAsus (ROG keyboard firmware update tool V2.5.3). It was partially fixed by an ASUS employee via teamviewer couple of months ago, but the very same update basically force updated itself recently and turned the keyboard backlight off again. I contacted ASUS and they refused to help the same way they did. All they said is that i have to reinstall windows. Did that, and nothing happened. That's why i'm asking for help here. Does anyone know a proper way how to fix this issue? Maybe to revert the driver update or something? Thanks in advance. Best regards...

I recently got my new Samsumg monitor Full HD LS22F350FHL, it`s full hd and has TN Panel, however, when i tried to turn off my computor, the screen went black, and i could see what seems to be backlight, i look my monitor from above, the image seems not to distort, but there is a white light coming throught the ''frame'' of the monitor. Is this a high quality TN panel so it has backlight? or is this just a defective product and should request a replacement?

Outta nowhere this tv stopped working correctly, it still turns on and seemingly runs fine but the display is about as dim as it could be. You can see a little better with a flashlight at the right angle but it might as well be black. From what I've researched this is either an issue with the back led lights or the backlight inverter. The trouble is everytime I try to find a video or other post about this problem the tv internals look nothing like the inside of mine. Does anyone know where the backlight inverter would be located and how i could check to see if thats the problem? and if thats not the issue could someone explain where to go from there? I simply cannot afford another tv nor the repairs for someone else to do this.

Hi, I own a Lenovo Ideapad 710s, and have noticed these bright lines on my screen (please see the image attached). When I dim the laptop screen, they dim too, but are always brighter than the rest of the screen, so they are always visible. It's getting annoying. If anyone knows what's going on, and/or knows a fix, please let me know. Additional info: I've had the laptop for between 2 and 3 years, and it's still running fast but crashes sometimes (may have to ask about this another time...). Screen at full brightness: Preview attachment 20201224_204425.jpg Preview attachment 20201224_210451.jpg Laptop case that may have been compressed against the screen: I'm a bit suspicious the laptop case (see above) I had it in has applied too much pressure to the display when placed in a bag with other books, causing damage, maybe to the backlight? The laptop case has a sort of hexagonal jagged pattern, that I figured was there for a good reason... but maybe the display casing wasn't strong enough and the case damaged it over time. Anyways, what do you guys think? Hopefully you'll have better ideas. Thanks in advance 20201224_210451.jpg 2.6 MB 20201224_204425.jpg 4.4 MB

Whenever my monitor doesn't receive any video signal, its backlight starts flickering at regular intervals, but very slowly (about once every 4 seconds ?). It's as if it was trying to turn on to check for a video signal but instantly turn off one frame after. Thing is, it still functions completely fine when I feed it video signal, so I'm really lost, cuz it doesn't seem to be a straightforward hardware defect, it's more like a firmware bug ? I don't really know what's happening or what caused it, my only clue is the recent power outages I've had (about 3 in the last two weeks), but I would be surprised that this one monitor is the only thing that got damaged by it. I've also heard it could be due to the age of my monitor, but I highly doubt that an aging display would break down like this, cuz as I've said, it still works great when receiving video input. I can live with it, it's just annoying to have to unplug it and replug it whenever I wanna put my PC to sleep and back, though I wouldn't mind finding a solution. So if any of you more knowledgeable folks know what could be happening or have experienced it before, I'm all ears. Also if you need more info on my setup please ask away for the info that could help you figure out the problem. Thanks a bunch !

I just bought a new Sceptre 1440p monitor and noticed that there are 2 settings on the OSD that control how bright the screen gets - "brightness" and "backlight". Which one should I change and why?

All photos were taken with S10+ on Pro mode at a shutter speed of 1/10 to 1/6 for the outcome to be closest to reality. This photo was made on when monitor was on sRGB mode, which is a little bit darker than the other modes (FPS, RPG, Cinematic, etc). This one is the closest one to reality. I could say that the backlight bleed is maybe 10% brighter in real life than in these two images. This one was taken from about 0.5 m (1.6 ft.) distance from the monitor On 50% and 75% gray background, a small flake/spot is barely visible. When looking from an angle, more backlight bleed is visible. I am not sure if this is normal or not. I think it's normal, cause my older IPS monitor does the same thing when I move my head around it and look at it from different angles. No dead pixels where found. I didn't test it on games, because my new system is not ready yet. The only tests I did are the EZIO ones. I've had another issue with the monitor flickering/turning off and on when I tried it on 144 Hz. Max it will go is 85 Hz without turning off and on. I don't know if it's the DP cable is faulty (I used the one that came with the monitor) or if my older system can't handle it (i5 4690K & R9 290 Vapor-X). Here's my other thread:

My grandfather is having laptop issues. The laptop is the Lenovo G50-45 with an AMD A8-6410 and 6GB of RAM. The display in the laptop will light up and the backlight will change brightness, but it will not put up a picture. His Dell external monitor does work however. The display settings do detect the screen in the laptop, but it will not identify the display or put anything on it. I am pretty stumped. Sometimes, but not everytime it will put up a Lenovo boot screen, but then it just goes to a lit up gray.

Hey everyone, I'm getting a laptop with red backlighting, because the cheapest with rgb backlighting and the same specs is a whole 350 USD more. I'm sure I can find a way to take apart the keyboard, but I'm not sure how to add some rgb backlight (preferably per key). If any of you have any suggestions, please comment. here is a picture of the laptop below:

So I use my xps 15 (9550) mostly at night and I have to type on it fairly frequently. The problem is, the keyboard has the worst backlight bleed I've ever seen, even at 50%, to the point where I prefer turn it off and click on keys at random until I hit the correct one... So, do you have any ideas how to make it dimmer? Maybe some keycaps or something? Thanks!

I bought an Alienware 13 R2 used off of eBay, and when I turned it on, I noticed that the backlight was stuck as full brightness. The buttons didn't work and the brightness slider didn't do anything. I tried everything. I updated the BIOS, chipset, updated both the iGPU and dGPU drivers, switched the GPU for the display, and switched the driver, but nothing affected it. Now, just tonight, for whatever reason, the backlight does not work within Windows. It turns on in the BIOS to show the Alienware loading screen and the Windows boot screen, but refuses to turn on when in Windows. Does anyone have any idea what is happening?

Hello, I wanted ask for your advice on a new monitor I've purchased. This particular model is Dell U3417W Ultrawide. My concern is the backlight bleed - it's definitely discernible on a black screen in the dark and some dark scenes in movies in lit conditions, especially the top left corner. I wouldn't bother about it so much if it wasn't for the fact this is not a cheap device. Is it something normal what I can expect on this panel and monitor model? I've read over the internet about similar issues, but am not sure whether this is not too much. The IMG_4406 perhaps is not the best quality, but perhaps captures what can be seen with the eye. Thank you in advance for any comments or advice whether I shall opt for a replacement or is it likely going to be the same.

Hi, this is about a Razer Blade 14" FHD from 2015. By now, that device would be almost 1.5 yrs old (bought in Singapore). Early September, the backlight and entire keyboard and touchpad stopped working (apart from the power button). After a lot of back and forth, Razer Europe, offered to have me send it in. Initially, Razer (by mistake) wrote me that the display and keyboard was broken. They also quoted me for a new keyboard and new motherboard, ~$1600. After I asked for the reason (they just quoted $1600), they actually requoted after several weeks, saying they would 'only' have to replace the motherboard, ~$1400. Now, I had had a working laptop (apart from the keyboard), basically a fully functional laptop - working just fine and stable gaming system with external keyboard and mouse. And Razer is asking me to pay for their design flaws, a broken keyboard controller ?! This should never have happened, especially not after effectively 1.25 yrs of age. And they cannot repair their own motherboards but have to have a completely new one every single time? WTF After nearly two month without laptop, being asked to pay as much as for a used Razer Blade 14, I am speechless. This is completely unacceptable. # RZC-0148181-00912120 Anyone feel that pain? k

Hey guys, I have an xps 15 (9550) and I love it, but I mostly use it in the dark with the brightness turned to 0% on windows and I also have an external app called windows shades witch turns the screen even dimmer (I set it to 70% - 80%) I also need to use the keyboard sometimes and since I can't see it I am forced to use the keyboard backlighting at 50% (and even though it's the lowest setting, it feels like it's 1000 times brighter than the sun) It also does not help that I sit at the "perfect" angle where the backlight slips trough the gap between the key caps... I know of the dell app witch allows you a little more customizability, but not in the backlight porcentage... So, is there a program that allows me to set it manually to a procent?

Hello, I was wondering if there is, perhaps, a way to get Steam games outside of the officially supported games for AlienFX to utilize reactive lighting? I'd like to set it up for GRiD 2 and DiRT 3 so that it will react when I put the clutch in to change gears for GRiD 2/Change gears in DiRT 3(For crashes too). Thus far I've found naught, hence this post. Forgot to mention, it's on an Alienware 15 R2. Thank you.

Hey guys, I just bought an Asus rog strix gl502vt for 1300€ and I noticed a little backlight bleed in the top left corner. It's only noticeable with a dark/black background .I haven't owned many laptops so I don't know if this is common. Should I return it? I'm worried the replacement will be worse or something. Also does it get worse with time? (btw it looks worse in the picture I took it with my phone)

hi guys, I just bought the ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q and i noticed the backlight bleed while playing games during some darker scenes. its my first big IPS display and i would like to know if this level of bleeding is normal, and if its worth it to return it for a new one. I read horror stories online of people having to return this exact model up to 6 times before getting a good one so I need some opinion. I adjusted the picture to look as close as possible to what I see in real life in a pitch black room. so to look at it you should put it into fullscreen and turn off the lights. It makes me really sad that asus has such a bad quality control, my macbook pro for comparison has zero BLB, and if you get one with BLB apple will replace the screen with one that works flawless, instead of playing the lottery like with asus where you can get a screen that is even worse if you are unlucky. I will think twice before buying something from asus again... so guys, should i bring it back or is that as good as it gets with asus? best Regards, The Dude
