Hi Everybody I have recently purchased 2 m.2 drives that are exactly the same capacity from the same manufacturer. They are installed into an old B360 motherboard. One drive is a boot drive, the other is storage. I will be upgrading the motherboard to a B550. The new motherboard has dual M.2 Connectors and I want to make sure that I install the boot drive into the right M.2 connector. Is there a way to identify the boot drive with information from the computer that can then be checked against the physical drive (e.g. a serial number) Thanks

Recently I want to try window 11, so i decide to upgrade the bios version in order to enable feature called TPM (Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0) I use Asus B360-G Gaming (https://rog.asus.com/vn/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b360-g-gaming-model/helpdesk_bios), so I download the latest Bios version which is 2901, rename it to BS360GG.CAP as the document tell (https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1151/ROG_STRIX-B360-G_GAMING/E14057_ROG_STRIX_B360-G_GAMING_BIOS_EM_WEB.pdf). Then copy it to an USB, reboot and using EZ Flash 3 to flash the bios, this whole process is a success and the message tell that my bios flash progress is complete, just need to restart. But after that the case turn on, fan and LED running as expected but nothing show up, no VGA signal and the mouse and keyboard totally not light up at all. I've try ditch out the CMOS battery => re-flash with old BIOS 2701, 2501 so far but nothing fixed. Did I miss something or anything else wrong here, noted that I've try my VGA, RAM on other mother board and it work perfectly fine. Hey ya'll I recently picked up a used i7-8086k to replace my i5-9400f and when I put in the 8086k all the fans and lights would turn on for about 15 second but then switches off for a couple seconds turns on again and does this loop. I haven't been able to get it to post. When I switch back to the i5-9400f it works fine. I've cleared the bios and upgraded the PSU. Any help would be great, I was wondering if maybe a bios update would fix it but I'm not too sure thanks! Hi guys. Im in a big trouble since i would like to build a brand new pc. I ordered almost every component except the motherboard. But recently i found a webshop that offers rog-strix b360-g motherboard with 30% discount. I think it’s a pretty good deal but i can’t find any information about supporting 9400f with r0 revision (i searched the official webpage) Any ideas? Or if you have similar config and it has no issues please reply:) thanks.

Which Motherboard should i choose? base on price bundled with the i5 9400F at my local area. Im limited with these options for my mitx build and not sure if the Asus H370 is worth the extra jump when there is the cheaper asrock z390. Im not planning to overclock at all. Any suggestions/information/justification for your answers would be appreciated as well. thks guys! All these prices are bundled with the i5 9400F. Will I be able to run two NVMe x4 storage on a B450 ITX motherboard / Ryzen 3000 without sacrificing the GPU PCIe lanes (x16)? I am confused on how many PCIe lanes Ryzen / AM4 are available for m.2 drives, since a B360 / i5-9400F can comfortably supply two NVMe x4 storage and a GPU @ x16 without any difficulty, while a B450 / Ryzen 2600 can only provide two NVMe x4 storage while the GPU @ x8...

Hi, thanks to LTT I got encouraged to build my first PC. Now I'm currently discouraged because of: problem here with PC not posting any display output + there's red led lights (on MB) showing on and off for CPU, DRAM, VGA. My troubleshooting so far: A) Fans spins => spins B) Disconnected/demounted all components and mounted/connected back again => no problems detected C) Checking CPU pins / Wrong thermal paste application => no problems detected D) Switching RAM between DIMM slots (with different counts (1-2 sticks), with different orders) => no difference detected E) Disconnecting all components besides CPU + RAM => no difference detected F) CMOS reset by removing battery for 10+ min => no difference detected I hope it is because the Gigabyte B360 Gaming 3 Wifi has old BIOS which is not compatible with i5 9600k. Since I don't have any older CPU by hand, I'll probably buy some Z390 MB like MSI Tomahawk. Please any thoughts, what else might it be? Or do you think I'm probably right on this one? Any more troubleshooting to do? Recomendation on cheap MB which would have stock bios with 9th GEN i5 support? (no overclocking needed since I'll be using 1660 Ti anyway) Build setup: PSU: EVGA 750 B3 MB: Gigabyte B360 Gaming 3 Wifi CPU: i5 9600k RAM: Hyper-x Fury 2666 MHz, dual channel 2x8 GB GPU: 1660 Ti SSD: V-NAND SSD 970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2

I have an MSI H310M motherboard with Core i3 8100 and HyperX DDR4 2x8GB 2400XMP . Works okay and I can set the ram speed to 2400 (without XMP even though XMP is easier) in the BIOS and reduce timings (CL 13 is stable) as well to get some free performance. I bought the memory because it was cheap at the time and I need 16GB ram for running VMs. I am thinking of switching to the Gigabyte B360M D3H motherboard because the upgrade (by selling some old stuff and the motherboard) isn't going to cost much and I also would like to buy a 256gb nvme drive for which adapters arent easily available here. I also want gigabyte because the MSI motherboard receives driver updates like rarely for newer windows versions and gigabyte boards seem to be supported well. That part is kind of important and part of the reason for the switch. However I was wondering about the gigabyte website that has me confused '* To support 2666 MHz or XMP memory, you must install an 8th Generation Intel® Core™ i7/i5 processor.' this seems to suggest XMP won't be supported on i3 ? seems weird. I dont want to plug everything in and run my perfectly good ram kit at 2133 and absurd timings. While HyperX does have plug and play (it can run at 2400 without XMP) I dont want to run into memory setting issues. Does anyone with gigabyte boards confirm that i3 can in fact run xmp (upto 2400Mhz) ? Also the other option is to buy the gigabyte Z390M (https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z390-M-rev-10#kf) which is about 40$ more but doesn't offer much to me at this point unless I plan on buying an i7/i9 later and also overclocking the cpu and memory. I don't plan on upgrading this PC anymore as I have already spent more time on it than I wanted playing around. I am just looking to build a stable PC with regular updates because stability is important for me. I also want a DP for an additional 4K monitor and want that m.2 slot for switching to nvme. This is my daily driver and I do coding run VMs for some classes I take, CPU usage is usually low for me and intel graphics are more than enough. Its just the fact that I want to setup everything once and keep updating windows and drivers as they roll out without worrying too much about compatibility.

Hi all, Can I turbo boost the i5 9400F to 4.2 GHZ with this motherboard(does it support tubo boost ?) Thanks!

So I currently have a gigabyte B360 HD3 mb with a an i5 currently in the socket. I'm wanting to upgrade to an i7 8700k and noticed that the socket needed was an LGA 1151, a socket that my current mb has. However, I have read elsewhere that the i7 would require a z370 mb and the b360 wouldn't cut it. I was wondering if I am able to put an i7 8700k in my current mb and save moneys Thanks in advance guys!

Hi, I have i7 9700, asus strix 5700xt, 8x2 2666mhz hyperx predator ram with GIGABYTE b360m ds3h. I found Asus z390A prime available for trade off with additional 100 dollars. is it worth? 1- Can i run higher clock speeds although CPU is rated to support 2666mhz as per intel website? PS my ram can run 4000mhz+ 2-Can i run all cores at max turbo boost of 4.7ghz? 3- Do the extra 10 PCIE lanes on the board affect or increase performance, CPU OR GPU? 4-Does intel take benefits of higher ram speeds? similar to AMD? Thanks

Hi, I have the below rig i7 9700 @4.5ghz on all cores Strix 5700xt 16GB DDR4 2666mhz, 12-14-14-34 B360 Motherboard. My GPU is almost always at 99% usage, CPU is in way below, rarely reaches 90%s in few games like the division 2 and AC Odyssey. Im thinking of getting z390 motherboard to run the cpu and 4.7ghz, and OC the ram. im afraid that since my GPU is fully utilized then any upgrade wont matter, correct?

Hello, I recently upgraded my i5 8500 to i7 9700 with GIGABYTE b360m ds3h board. I noticed that CPU frequency is volatile and doesn't reach 4.5ghz on all cores, cinbench r15 scord a low 1100 points only. I installed intel xtu and increased the turbo boost power max and turbo boost short power max to 125 watts from 65 watts. R15 score is now 1490, but i get constant boots to the bios, increasing wattage is not stable, and below 125 watt will decrease CPU power drastically. VRM MOS temp on the board reaches 80c CPU is watercooled and never exceeds 70s CPU draws up to 125 watts, but rarely. the CPU is in the support list of the board but cannot handle it? i mean WTF?

i7 8700 with Asus B360M-D for Battlefield V , its gonna work ? and i7 8700 for future proof as some games are more CPU Intensive and gonna use 100% CPU USAGE.

Hi, Long time fan of the stream, but first time on the forum (no fan on Toms hardware...) I´m building a new pc with a B360 M/B, GTX 1060 6GB OC, 2x4GB 2400 DDR4 Ram and so on. But I´m stuck at a crossroad, the MSI B360 Gaming Plus only has 1 m.2 port and the Gigabyte B360 HD3 has 2 m.2 ports and crossfire (which I will never use). I´m planing to install a 16GB optane, so 1 m.2 port will be used straight away, is it worth having a free m.2 for for the future? There is no real difference in price for me, both will be priced at ca. USD 80. But for some reason I´m leaning towards the MSI M/B, what should I do? Thx!

hi, so I'm planning to get i5 8400 and asus b360M E gaming board, i know that the board only support 2666mhz ram but i got a good price for ballistix DDR4 3000mhz 8x2 ram. i check list of board compatible ram and i couldn't find the ram serial number, does this mean that the ram will not work? i dont want to buy and throw it away. board and ram attached.

Hello guys I have a motherboard b360, i was wondering, is there a software to see the actual temperatures and control fans?

Hey Guys! I am currently upgrading my Rig and i thought about buying an 8700 (Mostly Gaming with a little bit of Video Editing and Streaming) But when I was looking for a Motherboard I didnt know what to choose because with an non K Processor I am not in need of an Z370 but still they have some nice Features (like RAM overclocking, etc.) and are only about 10€ more expensive then a H370 or B360 Board. I am currently thinking about these 3 Boards MSI B360 Gaming Plus ~ 98€ MSI H370 Gaming Plus ~ 103€ MSI Z370 Gaming Plus ~ 112€ I know it is always the same Board with another Chipset but I like the Design and Features MSI provides
