Budget (including currency): $800-850 AUD Country: Australia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Blender, Photoshop, Sketchup, Adobe Xd, Lightroom, 3D rendering, light gaming Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): This is a list that one of my friends threw together after i told him what i wanted. unfortunately, a lot of the components of this build either are no longer available or cost way too much. as well as that, the price he got with the original parts (as seen below) is already higher than my budget. The original (and unfinished) list that i made was comprised of: CPU: Ryzen 5 3500X GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER (Windforce OC 4GB) PSU: GMX 650W ATX silent power supply SSD: 250GB WD Green Blue Internal Solid State Drive HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB SATA Internal Hard Drive RAM: 16GB Corsair Case: PC Gaming Computer Case Tempered Glass ARGB Strip ATX Tower Desktop (without fan) It doesn't have a Motherboard cause i wasn't sure on that. Could you maybe mix these two lists into something that will work, or help me make a new list that fits better with my price point? Do you guys have any suggestions? it would be great if you could tell me about cheap workstation components, cause i'm very new to building pc's (this will be my first pc). Thanks!

Hey Guys, I'm currently in the process of planning my first PC build. Although I have built PCs with friends and toyed around with existing builds, I've never done it all from scratch myself. I have most of my parts selected, but I wanted to just put it out there to see if anyone has any opinions, or if I've completely overlooked something that will come back to bite me once I try to put it all together. Personal opinions and criticisms are welcome Parts List To give a bit of background, the PC is going to become another (perhaps primary) location where I game. I currently own an Xbox one, and although I'm quite happy with it, I'd love to see the best the world has to offer. The computer will be setup in my quite spacious room, close enough to hook up to my 40 inch TV if need be. I only have 2 power points, and the PC will most likely be plugged into a power board which has other appliances already connected, I'm a little worried this could be a problem since there seems to be a lot of power being drawn already from these two sockets. I am not near the router in the house, so internet access is still one thing I'm not entirely sure about in the build. However, a couple of friends have mentioned to me ethernet over power adapters. If anyone has any experience with these I'd love to hear how you got on. Of course I could go wireless, but I feel like that's frowned upon. 1. Budget & Location See the link to my part list. I'm already over what I wanted to spend, but I can afford it with a bit of money shuffling. I am Australian, so the parts are in $AUD 2. Aim The computer will primarily be used for gaming, but I may also perform programming work on there for university or my job. I would consider video playback from a HDD and also streaming via YouTube as a secondary main use. 3. Monitors Initially, I am going to run 1 2560 x 1440 monitor. Currently, the monitor I have on my parts list is running at 60Hz, but if I come across a decent 144Hz monitor I may run that instead. As mentioned above, I will also be connecting the computer to my TV (with HDMI in) occasionally. In the future I wouldn't mind adding a secondary monitor, or maybe upgrading to 4K if my rig could run games at that resolution and I could find an affordable display. 4. Peripherals For now, I am not going to buy a mouse, keyboard, or headphones, since I already have some that would work fine. My mouse and keyboard are wireless cheapies that I am not too concerned with for the moment. I will use either my Audio Technica M50xs or Astro A40s for audio. I will however need to purchase a version of Windows. 5. Why are you upgrading? I am building this as I have always wanted to build a PC, and now that I work as a programmer, I feel that having a beefy machine is sort of a rite of passage, and also that having a better understanding of the internals will make me better at my job. And then there's the most important reason.... Cause I want to! Thanks, Jesse

Hey everyone. have I made a great PCPP list? the list is http://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/dmsrGf I chose the i5 6600K because it has 4 cores and is overclock able (wish me luck in the silicone lottery). this CPU parred with the Deepcool Captain 240EX White 153.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler should be a great pair. for RAM, i went for the Avexir Raiden 16GB (2x8) DDR4 at 2666. I chose this because of it is white and with a hint of blue even though it has PLASMA FREAKIN TUBES. Linus did a video of this. The motherboard that I chose is the Asus z170-A, i kinda chose this for its fan headers and its CPU_OPT as well as its colour... WHITE I also put in a Crucial MX300 and a Western Digital Black Series 1TB. the SSD is for...Obviously... to store my gam I'm just buustin your balls. It is for a boot drive and you know the rest. The case that I chose is the Phanteks Eclipse P400S. I heard that liquid cooling can be loud so I went for the Silent edition. I wonder if you are catching on to the colour scheme. This case is white and has blue LED's at the front bottom and a connector for an LED strip. it also comes with a fan controller for the case fans that come with the case. For the most expencive piece in the build, the Graphics Card. I chose the Asus GeForce GTX 1070 Dual series with 8GB of GDDR5. this card can run most games at 1440p Max/Ultra settings. it is white as well. The Power Supply that i went for is the Corsair RM650X. It is a bit overkill but i do have head room if I want a new GPU or CPU. The Wireless adapter... I live saver for many... a need for others. In my case, I need it. If there was no such thing as Wi-Fi, life for many will be pretty difficult, My router is quite far away through a wall. so I need a Wireless adapter to help me with this. I chose the Asus PCE AC68. perfect for me and others. Last but not least is the Thermal compound or Paste. whatever you want to call it, you need it. I dont know what Thermal Paste I just went with the Zalman ZM-STG2 3.5g. I heard it was good and cheap also but this is one thing that I need help with. Thankyou for Reading this and I hope you enjoyed it.

In anticipation of Cyberpunk 2077, and a general want to upgrade my old system, I am looking to spend about a max of $2100 AUD (Roughly 1400 USD at current exchange rates) to get myself something that can play most things very well. The most recent video showed quite a lot of helpful information about potential pricing and what GPU to get for what situation, but I don't really know what I should get in terms of CPU. I've always ran Intel just because it's what I've been told is the best. Now, I'm unsure. For my use-case, I'll be using Greta v2.0 pretty much exclusively for gaming with a pretty heavy focus on competitive FPS games and other intensive titles. I dabble in minor 2d photoshop work for other hobbies, and plan to get a CAD or similar program to work on 3d printing files. I apologize if this question has been answered before, and appreciate any answers.

Hello, as the title says im looking for a 1200$ AUD laptop primarily for school, i want it to be able to handle all that my course requires, so since i do a bit of programming and animation on a side if it could handle the lot thats all i need. Some specs id like is: CPU: 8th gen i5 RAM: 8gb STORAGE: 256GB SSD anything that exceeds these expectations would be greatly received, ive been trying to research my own laptop but have had troubles, i found a lot of dell computers (listed below) that suits my needs but it seems the reviews on such vary widely and since i want a minimum of 5hours battery life some of them werent too apealing. If anyone can chime in with a laptop they might suggest that meets these requirements i'd be greatly appreciative. I'd prefer a somewhat bright screen that i can use outdoors, but i understand at this price point not really expecting a massive deal. And weight doesnt bother me but as for aesthetics i'd like it to be slim and stylish, its weight does not bother me. Thanks all!! https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/dell-laptops/inspiron-14-5000-2-in-1/spd/inspiron-14-5482-2-in-1-laptop/b510902au This one is a 2in1 that matches all my criteria. https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/dell-laptops/inspiron-15-5000/spd/inspiron-15-5570-laptop/b510561au this is the inspiron model, not a big fan of the aesthetics but got 16gb of ram and 8th gen i7 processor all in my range https://www.dell.com/en-au/work/shop/cty/pdp/spd/vostro-14-5471-laptop/b541246au vostro model, i7 processor and checks every other box. I understand to respond to this is a fair chunk of your time, but im incredibly overwhelmed with all the choices and any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

Hey everyone I'm building my first gaming pc and i have a pretty good budget (sadly it's in Australian though so everything is overpriced...) I've been getting advice from the forums on pcpartpicker and after a while I've come up with this. I have a 980 and I'll add a second on later. I only have one stick of 8gb memory since that is OKAY at the moment and I will add another one in the near future. I went with the 4690k so i can overclock a tiny bit and learn from it. Also i got the membrane keyboard with the cheap bundle since I'm fine with that. I love the S340 case with a red and black theme and I like the look and quality of MSi stuff so I went with that. Any thoughts on how to improve the build to the most out of this budget? http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/KYcQgs

Hey everyone, So I'm currently a student studying design and this will be my last year at university. I'm looking to build a proper work computer just for now that's affordable yet packs a punch in games within the $2600 (Australian) mark. This PC will mainly be used with Photoshop, After Effects/ Premier and even perhaps branching into Maya or Zbrush. So I will need something that will have minimal brush lag on high resolution canvases in PS and just a computer that can tank most of my video editing and annimation work. As for games I'm just super psyched for Star Wars Battlefront 3 hahaha, so I want to be ready for that, oh and also GTA 5. Here's my list, hope I did good haha http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/fYRJGX I didn't add W8.1 because I think I'm able to get it at a student price which is half of what OEM would be. As for peripherals, right now I'll just use my mouse, keyboard and monitor from my old Dell pc from 2009. heh I'll try to upgrade these when I can. I'm aiming to buy an IPS monitor down the track and perhaps even further down going ahead with sli 980s. So yeah let me know what you think, I'm interested to hear opinions and I hope eveythings together haha. As I'm posting this now I realise this has a lot of msi parts in it, don't know why.

I am going to be buying all this in about a fortnight and i'm just fine lining it so it hits a good little notch in the value to performance area. i have received lots of help on these forums leading towards this build and now i would like to get some final opinions before "finalising" this build. It will be used for destroying most games (not including Witcher 3 and ridiculous games like that) on 1080p (hence the title) on ultra settings and i just need conformation that it will do so. i also want it to run quiet and cool, which i think this will do (reason i chose 970 over 290x). my budget is $1750 AUD except if theres places to save i would prefer to. there are some things i would want to know though - from your own experience is 120GB SSD enough or should i go for a 240GB for $50 more? - do i need to change anything to another brand because of reliability problems/ are there any bad issues with any of the products listed? (i'm aware of the 3.5gb VRAM issue with the 970 and its not too important considering i am only on 1080p) - is this motherboard good for a stable overclock? - is its bios relatively easy to navigate? (just out of interest) - any small tweaks i should make that will really make a difference to the outcome of the build PCPartPicker part list: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/dG9XWZ Price breakdown by merchant: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/dG9XWZ/by_merchant/ CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($314.00 @ Umart) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 65.0 CFM CPU Cooler ($89.00 @ Umart) Motherboard: MSI Z97-G45 Gaming ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($189.00 @ Umart) Memory: Kingston Fury Red Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($179.00 @ Umart) Storage: OCZ ARC 100 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($75.00 @ PLE Computers) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($69.00 @ PLE Computers) Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card ($525.00 @ Umart) Case: Fractal Design Define R4 (Black Pearl) ATX Mid Tower Case ($129.00 @ PLE Computers) Power Supply: XFX TS 550W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply ($99.00 @ PLE Computers) Other: Umart Shipping ($40.00) Total: $1708.00 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-02-14 17:20 EST+1100 I have a monitor, mouse, mouse mat and a generic crappy keyboard already. UPDATE: Motherboard is dead and it turns out that the repair shop doesn't have a 2011-3 motherboard to test the CPU and RAM. I'll rma the CPU and the motherboard because the CPU could be dead as well. Pc specs: https://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=wish_lists&wlcId=377454&action=wish_lists So my new computer was running just fine (got it a week ago). I shut it down after an update and I came back 5 mins later to turn it back on. About a second after I pressed the on button (all the LED's flashed on and all fans working), my lunch finished cooking and I rushed down stairs not looking back. I finished lunch and went upstairs, the computer wasnt on.. I pressed the power button thinking that for whatever reason it turned itself off. But no response came from the computer and there was no error LEDs but the power and reset leds were on. I tried pressing the power button on the motherboard, but all I could hear was a faint click. So after doing some research it turns out that I should check whether the motherboard boots on with only the motherboard connecter plugged in, so I unplugged the cpu connector (left the hard drives plugged in and the graphics card plugged in, also left the cpu cooler and fans plugged in). I turned the computer on and it worked with the 00 error displayed (leds on, gpu on, but fans not working). So I guessed that maybe the cpu power wasn't plugged in correctly. So I tried making the cpu plug as secure as I could and I turned the computer on... It didnt work... nothing, no LEDs, just a faint click sound. (is a click sound normal? Seems to only happen when I turn the power supply on before pressing the power button on the motherboard, if I leave the Power supply on and press the power button again, no click sound) Can sombody help me? is the cpu burnt out? Should I RMA the motherboard and cpu? BTW I updated the BIOS using EZ update recently (about a day or 2 ago), could that have caused it?

I am planning on building a brand new computer next year, and I have watched a few of linus' videos and I have come up with a build. http://au.pcpartpicker.com/user/rattacko123/saved/BPmmP6 As you may have noticed, I live in australia, and computer part prices here are expensive compared to american prices. My budget is around $2500-3000, and I am probably going to change some of the parts to newer parts, because there will probably be new graphics cards/other stuff that will be released next year. So do you think this build is good? Or should I change some of it? I will do some 3D rendering (for school) and i will do a bunch of video editing. I will also do a lot of gaming. I also need 8 USB ports because i have alot of usb devices to plug into the computer, so thats why I went with this motherboard. I might do a little bit of overclocking too. EDIT: I might use a corsair H100i instead of that noctua air cooler. EDIT: I already have my monitor and I have all of my pheripherals with me (mouse, keyboard, etc).

I am looking for some help with selecting parts for my PC I have a Friend helping me with the build but I am still a bit worried about my decisions of the parts because I am a noob in the PC World. I am getting this so I can keep my laptop for school and have a gaming and editing based desktop. Questions 1. Where should I spend less/more money on parts in the PC? 2. Do I need an i7 If I am looking into graphic design and video rendering in the future? 3. Is the power supply to high wattage? 4. Do I need a better GPU to play games like battlefield and CS:GO at 1080p 60 FPS? 5. What is a good 1080p monitor? 6. I am hoping to get a Corair K70 RGB Keyboard Is this good keyboard? Information I am in Australia So I wont be able to get some of the deals from the USA and Canada This is all from my money I am saving from working and I cant really go over $1600 AUD on the build(not including peripherals). While Mayflower Electronics' naming scheme is precisely as graceful as a flying brick, their Objective2 + ODAC combo unit is certainly more useful than said adage - unless your motive is in fact to kill someone and/or be disqualified from a paper aeroplane contest with the social label “monumentally stupid”. Certainly, my unit spent the first month of its life as a flying brick on it's trepidatious journey from Murica to Straya, however, and thankfully, far from the optimal dimensions and strength characteristics of a common house brick, it arrived in good condition, as packaging was excellent. As fascinating as the science of house bricks is, I'm not silly enough to spent about $330 on a brick, especially seeing as I wanted to spend the $330 on a box that makes sounds, and, spoiler: it does, and much more effectively than a brick. In tandem with my Objective2 + ODAC combo unit I also stole one of Mayflower's Fostex T50RP headsets, with the “Version 1” modification configuration, and that was about $150. Included in the box with the O2 combo unit is a gold plated USB to Mini USB cable from Monoprice, and an American power supply by Triad. Alternative power supplies are available directly from Mayflower, however it isn't an option on the purchase page, and being used to proper power supplies being included with my purchases, I was caught out. This is one area in which Mayflower Electronics must look into including the right power supply in the box before sending it off, especially for obvious international orders, or at least add the option on the purchase page on their website, rather than an obscure accessory page buried behind menus. If you are from Australia/ New Zealand (or in another country that uses the AS/NZS 3112 socket) this power supply will work with your combo unit: http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=MP3059 The Fostex headphones ship with their stock 3.5mm to 6.5mm cable (with lock in connector design), and Mayflower again offer a replacement 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable, however alike the power supply it isn't an option on the purchase page, and for a 3.5 male to male cable it's bloody expensive. It's a strange thing that these cables are included at all, seeing as Mayflower knows that these stock cables aren't compatible with their own amplifier products, and indeed the O2 combo unit, and in the end it just makes the whole experience jarring and not user centric at all. I opted for cable from Voso instead, and used a sharp blade to carefully strip away the housing on the right angle end until it fit into the headphones. Interestingly the straight connector end is already fine enough to fit straight into the headset, so you'll have this option with this cable as well. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VOSO-3-5mm-Male-to-Male-90-Deg-Right-Angle-Audio-Jack-AUX-Connect-Cable-2M-AU-/200852989734?pt=AU_Electronics_Portable_Audio_Accessories&hash=item2ec3c56726&_uhb=1 HARDWARE Starting with the combo unit, it's precisely 1 Australian house brick's width across, about half a Swedish house brick high (or half a Germanic house brick with the rubber feet included), and a little longer than two average Danish house bricks are tall. A brushed aluminium enclosure wraps around the two circuit boards inside, with essential connectors jutting out somewhat evenly through the front panel. Three of the four screws holding the front panel on were silver, with one being black, which is either the worst aesthetic design choice in the universe or a sign that my unit met the bottom of the screw draw in the Mayflower workshop. Either way, I knew going in to this that it wasn't going to be the best looking thing in the world – if I wanted that I would have purchased a 12th Century Iranian glazed mud brick to admire – Besides, it compliments my mirror. Centre of the front panel is a red LED which is awesomely uninstrusive, and doesn't distract you from the screen when the unit is in front of you, unlike some peripheral electronics in my vicinity (it starts with A and ends with udio Technica and is a microphone, grrrr). The Fostex headphones looks roguishly nice, sort of noughties television with a splash of copper hot water plumbing. I'll make the point of not rambling on too much about the headphone's aesthetics as they spend most of their life out of sight. Also there's a big picture of them at the top. In terms of the modification, it mainly involves clay being packed into the T50's baffles (baffles are components used to prevent interference between sound waves generated internally from waves outside of the earpads) and a bit of foam/cotton thrown about inside to dampen the relatively open design of vanilla T50 headphones. The modification essentially (and I should mention effectively) snuffs out corrupting external noises and adds a bit of punch to the bass and treble ends of the spectrum, at the expense of clarity in the mid ranges (because the driver simply has less space to wobble about in). Keep in mind these headphones have an RRP of $110, so you need to decide if this modification alone is justification enough for the $70 price hike. SOUND REPRODUCTION and INTEGRATION In terms of how these products sound, their whole purpose for existing, well, the answer is quite simple. Bloody awesome. When used in tandem, details and clarity through the breadth of the sound scape is very good, and very impressive in the bass end. The O2 amplifier has an inaudible noise floor, and no noise or corruption occurs throughout the amplification range. The ODAC component spits out noticeably clearer sound than my on-board audio, however more modern motherboards may not leave as much of an impressive improvement. It is undoubtedly a massive improvement for me, however. The unit only ever reaches a slight warmth, and as it is a completely solid state design, it can be left turned on 24/7, so it really is a hassle free addition to any audio setup. As for the headphones they work exceptionally well for their price. They sound amazing, even when powered through my phone (albeit nearly on max volume due to the impedance) and are definitely worth the purchase price. I've found they really come into their own when crunching through complex music, especially the heavier lumbers of metal and core music, and work well at ironing out the individual notes due to the supreme clarity of the headphones. The headphones are quite comfortable also, surprising given the rather daunting looking headband. The pleather earcups induce a bit of sweating which I wasn't used to, coming from cloth pads, however it isn't severe at all. As the size adjustment on the headphones isn't staggered, they do move about and change size throughout a few hours of use, tending to rest only when the top of the earcup makes contact with the top of your ear, and this is probably due to the weight of the headphones, however again it is only a marginal issue, and certainly not a reason to deter purchase. FINAL WORDS Wrapping up, these are two truly excellent products, let down only by boring, utilitarian names and an insensitive purchase page on the Mayflower website. Mayflower Electronics, luckily has an incredibly helpful and personal public relation attitude, and it's for this reason that I think these issues will be handled appropriately, and hopefully wholly resolved in the future, preferably without the need for flying house bricks to be involved. Keep in mind that these are hand made products, and will appeal more to tinkerers and modifiers more than your mainstream Beats commuter who is solely concerned about the consistency of the finish on their aluminium headband. If you are a DIYer and music/audio enthusiast and appreciate unique punctures to the severely disillusioned audio marketplace then this product is for you. I am very happy with my purchase and each of these have well and truly earned a space on my desk. Right beside my 12th Century Iranian mud brick, of course. p.s. Some brief ideas which I'd like to see from Mayflower - 3.5" and 5.25" faceplates/ internal bay versions for the ODAC+O2 combo as well as tripod screw threads being drilled into the bottom of the chassis.

Looking for what you guys think would be the best HEADSET for under $200 Australian, preferrable from an online retailer such as PCCaseGear or MSY. If not headset, then attachable mic must be included in the price. Cheers! PS: I have never owned a pair of headphones before, but I have tried some on and I prefer more padding as its the most comfortable. Also, I play mostly FPS and Racing games
