Hi everyone, looking for a tech tip. I'm having issues with my Sennheiser headset. When I use it via Bluetooth, selecting the "Headset" option as the output in Windows, I get weird noises, as if the headset was skipping a beat or something, and also some tapping noises. If I select "Headphones" the sound is perfectly fine yet I can't use that output for Discord for some reason. I tried a Jabra headset and I don't get this issue at all (it also allows me to select either Headset or Headphones as the output), so I assume the issue is with the Sennheiser headset itself. Any idea on how to possibly fix this? I recorded the headset playing a 432Hz sound where it can be clearly heard how it "skips a beat" every now and then. Thanks in advance! So I have a bit of a weird issue. When the power to my household shuts off and then is turned back on my PC will automatically turn itself back on. Normally I would not mind, however when this happens my PC no longer recognises my screen as an audio output and I have to restart the PC. Small issue I know but it is so frustrating to deal will. Note: My household electric works on a pay as you go key so once the amount has been used up it will shut off with no warning. Of course this may cause other potential issues with my components in the future but there is not much I can do about that.

I have some audio issues on my Motorola moto g8 power. The volume is basically always very low, low like it would be in a call. After a few minutes of video playback the audio suddenly goes to normal volume, and 5-10 seconds after that the video is auto-paused. When I resume the video the audio is low again. First noticed the problem with headphones, where they would occasionally go silent, somehow "disconnect" and pause(even though the headphones were still connected), and then it would play on built in speakers when the video started again. Reconnecting headphones worked, but only temporarily. I couldn't find anyone else with these issues. Any help is appreciated!

Heyo, As the title suggests, I'm getting this crackling noise anytime a sound is played using my Razer Surround Pro Audio Controller. This only started happening after I finally updated last night. Other audio outputs like regular realtek and even my monitor speakers sound fine. From what I've been reading, this is only affecting surround sound audio. Anyone know a good fix for this? Win 10 Pro, fully updated as of Apr. 23, 2021. Let me know if you need more info about my PC.

Hello, i've recently been having issues with my microphone. when i look at the interface of my Focusrite, the little ring around the gain button is constantly flicking green and then stopping and sometimes red, now the issue is that it's doing this when i'm not talking, there is no fan in the room either. it used to work perfectly fine untill one day randomly people couldn't hear me, or barely hear me at all. the only way for people to hear me was if i turned up the gain to around 9 or 10. and then started yelling. when opening discord and doing the audio test they have where it plays back what i say, i can constantly hear what sounds like static (becuase the gain is too high) but if i turn down the gain to what it used to be at (around 3-5) i cannot hear myself at all. since the issue i have tried to download the most recent driver (mine was out of date when it stopped working but getting the new one didn't fix it) i have bought an entirely new XLR cable and the same issue is still present. i have also tried using both of the interfaces, and the same issues appear when using either of them has anyone experienced something similar, or is able to guide me to figure out if the issue is with the microphone itself or the Scarlet 2i2, i would hate having to spend 150$ on a new audio interface only to realaize the issue is my microphone

I'm currently using my gaming PC and when I plug in my Astros via USB (No matter what port) I get random static build up and it happens every 15-20mins. I've used my Aux and stream ports (From mixamp) to my pc and have no issues what so ever. Any Ideas why I can't use my usb instead? Also currently using the streaming and aux port for another computer to have audio/mic support. But when I switch the usb to my non gaming pc there is no static that's why I'm confused where is the static build up coming from.

I am having some issues with my 5.1 surround sound set up. Please look at the hardware specs below to assist. The issue I am having is all to do with my subwoofer. When I enter the Realtek Audio Console, I can change the 3.5mm audio jack inputs for the monitors and for the sub. To get the sub to play anything, I have to change the blue audio jack, which the sub is plugged into, from "sub/center" to "headphone." Even then, I have to have the speaker configuration set to stereo instead of 5.1 surround. When I do change it to 5.1 surround, and launch into a game like COD, I lose all ability to hear vocal frequencies. I can hear gunshots, explosions, footsteps, but not any voice. The only solution I have found is to keep the sub as a headphone output and the speaker configuration as stereo. However, I believe that this is causing some audio quality loss as it isn't hooked up as a true subwoofer. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Its really weird, WMP plays the audio almost fine, but the video is just pixelated and stops playing after a few seconds. Any other media player i tried plays the videos fine but no sound whatsoever. tried VLC, MPV, MPC-HC... the weird thing is the files were converted with VLC 3.03 but even that doesn't play the audio anymore now, and WMP had no issues at all playing the files before the update (that was why i converted them ,because I wanted to play them in WMP) So it seems obvious something in Windows changed, but i don't know how to fix it? So the main problem is that the audio doesn't play (since video works fine in any player except WMP) and foobar plays the audio just fine! So it doesn't seem there's anything wrong with the files (although who knows)?

Hi, So long story short I got the audio to work but once I moved houses and set up my PC the audio is gone again. I reinstalled windows hoping I can fix the problem like I did the last time. I was able to go into realtek audio console and change my speakers to a "7.1 speaker" and when I run a sound test. I can hear half the speakers that light up on the realtek audio console software. I can also move the audio levels up/down and it'll make "ding" or if something gets plugged in i hear a "ding". Now it's partially working but i can't hear any sound off google chrome or anything else for that matter. I can only hear system notifications. Things I've done: install latest audio driver off Gigabyte, uninstalled all audio drivers then reinstalled the new driver again (rebooted), switched between speakers to realtek digital output in the bottom right corner. went in to sound control panel and messed with that ( bar moves if sound is playing, but can't hear the sound) specs: windows 10 64 bit i7-9700k gigabyte aorus z390 pro wifi gigabyte 1070 corsair 32gb ram

Just a heads up for anyone who uses OBS for audio capture that is thinking about installing Windows 10 version 2004 to hold off for now. As the title suggests audio capture in OBS version 25.0.8 with Windows 10 version 2004 does not work. Testing was performed on a Dell XPS 9570 running Windows 10 version 2004 and OBS version 25.0.8 with the behringer U-Phoria UM2 and integrated laptop mic with all up to date drivers. Secondary testing was done with a Dell Latitude E7470 running Windows 10 version 1909 with the same OBS version. OBS did not register any input from either the built in microphone or the microphone I had plugged into the UM2 when measuring with OBS. Curiously OBS did register desktop audio. I was also able to confirm that the built-in Windows voice recorder was able to register voice input from both the UM2 and built-in mic. Unfortunately I had not tried this setup previously on the Dell XPS, so there is a chance that this issue is specific to the Dell XPS 9570, but when switching to another laptop running Windows 10 version 1909 with the same version of OBS, I did not encounter this issue. So am laying the blame on the new version on Windows. Hope this prevents someone else from having a headache like myself.

I need help with my computer. I booted it up this morning to play Minecraft Dungeons that just released. When I opened up Discord I got a prompt for new device: Nvidia High Definition Audio. It then closed and reopened and closed again. It cycles through this so I was confused. I unplugged the Display Port from my GPU and re plugged it to no avail. When I opened Task Manager I saw that my CPU usage was pegging 100% which is not normal at all. I have a Ryzen 3 2200g which is a 4 core, 4 thread but I never hit 100% usage when starting up. I rebooted my PC after recording the first video clip seen below. When I rebooted my PC it was the same thing over again, but this time it shows my monitor with the same device as before but in parenthesis, as seen in the image below. I uninstalled Skype (I saw something on the internet that said Skype can make windows audio things run high CPU usage). I then force quit some programs such as Twitch, Voicemod, and Microsoft Teams. Now my CPU hits a nearly constant 80% usage, sometimes dropping to 79% or jumping to 85%. I then recorded the second clip, hopefully the 20 MB upload limit doesn't prevent me from uploading it. As I am typing this I have been monitoring task manager and noticed that something called Windows Audio Device Graph Isolation is rising in memory usage. About every second it gains about 1 MB to 3 MB of memory usage, I first noticed it at about 1,000 MB and it is currently at 2,362 MB. When my PC booted up there was some process called NVIDIA Container that was at like 50% usage or something close to that. The GPU engine was GPU 0 - Video Encode. The 50% usage disappeared after a while. Service Host: Local Service (Network Restricted) which is the parent process of Windows Audio has been jumping around from about 15% up to 20% CPU usage (Third image). Service Host: Windows Audio Endpoint Builder which is the parent process of Windows Audio Endpoint Builder has been jumping around from about 4.7% up to 9% CPU usage (Third Image). Windows Explorer has also been weird, jumping around from 10% up to 20% at times. Does anyone know anything about what is going on here? I tried to provide as much detail as I could after monitoring things for a while PS. Windows Audio Graph Isolation is now up to 2,900 MB of memory usage. The second video clip couldn't upload due to the 20 MB limit so I uploaded it to Google Drive, here is the link https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yNyLZni9x6puNdq04VQPssFtaeP8-Qgn/view?usp=sharing Desktop_2020_05.26_-_06_31_42_01.mp4

Hello! I have an aux jack issue with my hp elite 8300 sff. What happens is the pc only detects and uses one audio device at a time even when I have multiple plugged, including the onboard case speaker. The one device it detects is the one that was plugged in the latest such has my sound system or headset. When nothing is plugged in, the system uses the case speaker. The computer should be able to detect all speaker devices allowing me to switch in between them. It is inconvenient to have to unplug a device and replug it in for the computer to use it. This has me stumped. Any ideas? Thanks!

Good evening everyone, I'm a first time poster here so please be gentle, I'm delicate. I've been messing about with computers for quite a few years ago, cannibalising old hand-me-downs and fixing the computers of people I know. Anyway, the other day I decided to finally build myself my own, decent computer for college work and programming, which brings me too my issue. I bought an ASrock Extreme4 MB, an Intel i3 6100, 1 8GB DIMM of Corsair Vengeance LPX 2400MHz and a Corsair 460X. Upon building my computer yesterday all was well, POST and clean boot first time. However, after wiring it up to my AMP through the rear 3.5MM audio port I found that I had to turn the volume on my AMP and computer up quite drastically to achieve the same volume as before. I'm aware that some MBs don't amplify audio out of the rear I/O so I repeated this on the front panel audio with the same result. I tried both ports with my headphones (Sennheiser HD439s, 32 Ohms Independence) and at full volume I could just about hear what was playing. In addition, I attempted to test the front microphone port but upon inserting the cable there was a large pop from the speakers and my system black screened. I cant fathom what is wrong other than a fault with the board. The panel cable is fully inserted into the header. The most up to date drivers are installed. All volume mixers at max. I tested with a spare front panel I/O to check whether it was my 460X but to no prevail. I appreciate any help. I just want to check that I'm not being an idiot and forgetting something completely obvious before I RMA this board. Thanks in advance.

Been having this issue with Chrome and Edge, some YouTube videos will be muffled and swap back to clarity at random points. So far I have 1. Reinstalled Chrome and reset all plugins + extensions 2. Updated flash. 3. Updated my Realtek drivers 4. Re-installed Windows I still get the issue, for instance, I can watch: And the audio is crystal clear. Yet when I go to watch; The audio sounds like it's coming from behind a quilt. Yet when I load the exact same video onto my Mac Mini it plays clearly. My audio setup is my PC's (specs in signature) via 3.5mm to Aux to a set of Technics SH-DV250 separates which is 5.1 set up around my room.

My PC Audio isn't outputting to my headphones or speakers. The computer things that everything is fine and it thinks it is outputting audio but nothing is coming out of the speakers or headphones. I have tried a bunch of different stuff and my friend who has much more experience with PC's than I do couldn't figure it out. Let me explain everything that I had done before this issue happened. There was some construction going on in my room for two days and I moved the PC to another room of that time. The PC and audio worked fine in that room for two days and all I had plugged in then was one monitor (HDMi) my headphones and mouse and keyboard. Today the construction was finished so I moved my PC back to my room and I plugged all the same stuff back in with the only addition being a Blue YETI MIC. I left the computer for a little while and I came back and tried to play a video and there was no audio. I checked all hardware connections and I was good on that front but neither my speakers or my headphones would play a sound. I checked all of the basic audio settings and nothing has worked. I have restarted multiple times, and check all of the basic settings and nothing. The computer detects the outputs and says they are working fine and thinks the audio is playing. I am really confused and as a person who just built a pc for the first time idk how to fix this. NOTE: My friend who tried to help me said he could hear the music I was trying to play in discord even though I could hear nothing, and he could also hear me when I set the mic from my headphones as an output in discord. Any help would be really appreciated! EDIT 0: I do NOT have an audio card, I have the Aorus Gaming 5 X370 Motherboard.

Hello everyone! Recently I upgraded my ancient desktop. I got an Asus Maximus IX Apex motherboard for the new build. About two weeks I lost all audio from the line-out (green) jack on the motherboard. I tried everything: - Reinstalled the device (which shows up just fine in the device manager). - Rebooted into my Linux installation. - Tried a Linux live USB. - Reset the BIOS. - Used the 2nd BIOS. - Updated both ROMs. Nothing procured any results. The weird thing is that the sound card detects which ports are connected/disconnected and outputs audio just fine in the front panel. I RMA'd the board, but the tech department of eshop.gr stated that the sound card worked just fine. This is driving me crazy. I can't think of anything else. Can you, please, help? ------- UPDATE 0: The front jack stopped working too.

I started noticing this problem a couple of days ago. My audio stutters for less than a second then resumes playing normally. I noticed it while watching a youtube video and thought it was just an issue with internet connection issue. But it continues to happen when I am listening to songs and videos I have stored locally. It seems to happen randomly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Greetings everyone: I just completed my first build and I am struggling to resolve some issues with Overclocking, Audio and M2 Drive. I have been a lurker here for a while now and am hopeful I will find a solution here: OVERCLOCKING The Motherboard does not seem to be permitted overclocking or there is some issue which is causing system fail loop. Attempt 1 – After PC assembly, PC booted into BIOS, Windows was successfully installed. After installing all utilities from Pen Drive which came with the M/B, I opened AI Suite III. The software asked me to run a 5 way optimization. After clicking on the optimization button, the PC went into a restart mode and there was no feed on the monitor thereafter for several hours. After several attempts to restart (including emptying CMOS and installing a new BIOS battery) the computer got stuck at American Megatrends screen with a message “Overclocking Failed! Please enter setup to re-configure your system.” I entered BIOS, loaded defaults and continued using the PC. Attempt 2 – After discussing with ASUS Tech Support as to why RAM was reflecting as 2300 MHZ while the RAM is 3000 MHZ, I entered BIOS to switch on XMP. While exiting BIOS after switching XMP on, it showed several changes to CPU settings which were not made by me but I assumed these were automatically made in order to accommodate XMP profile. As I exited BIOS, CP went into the same error loop. The computer got stuck at American Megatrends screen with a message “Overclocking Failed! Please enter setup to re-configure your system.” I entered BIOS, loaded defaults and continued using the PC. Attempt 3 – I followed an online guide to overclocking (link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dW6gBneg3VA) which isn’t very extreme and the target CPU clock was 4.0 Ghz. I made changes as reflected in this video however upon exiting BIOS after making changes CP went into the same error loop. The computer got stuck at American Megatrends screen with a message “Overclocking Failed! Please enter setup to re-configure your system.” I entered BIOS, loaded defaults and continued using the PC. No further overclocking attempts were made. Has anyone faced similar issues? Any recommended workarounds? AUDIO I plugged in my stereo speakers into the lime colored audio jack at the back of the PC (as recommended by the manual). When I turn on my speakers, I get persistent static and whirring sounds which get acute as I initiate any commands on the PC. E.g. it seems like static when CPU is not performing any new commands but as I initiate a new task something as simple as copy/pasting, the whirring increases. I have tried to reconnect all ports, and reinstall drivers a few times but to no avail. I have tried the same wire and speakers on my two other computers and no such issue. Performance with M2 I have a SSD 960 EVO NVMe M.2 500GB plugged into the M2 port. I have installed windows and all programs on this drive. Somehow, working with this drive is giving me slower results when compared with using the same set of programs on the SATA Samsung 850 pro. Do you know if there are any compatibility issues with this drive? Or the port in general? The second drive which gave me faster results is SSD 850 EVO 2.5" SATA III 500GB which is weird since read/write speed of the m@ drive is much faster. I have tried reading about these issues but I haven't got far. Hello, sorry if my english is bad, its not my first language I recently bought the Razen kraken headset but i keep hearing a constant static noise coming in,when the mic is turned on the static noise is even louder, i tried switching between the jacks in the front and in the back but the noise is still there, i tried configuring the headset with their software but i didnt really understand how to navigate and i didnt get anywhere. The only way to not have the static noise stop is if i unplug the mic or the headphones from my pc but i want to have my mic always plugged in since im playing games and i need it to talk, can anyone help me with a solution or tell me why or how is this happening. Before this headset i used to have a turtle beach ear force z60 and it didnt do this so why is it happening now ? Note: this is the first time i experience something like this, none of my previous headseats did this Edit: upon further inpection it seems that when i rub the cable it makes a weird buzzing sound, I would apreciate it if someone explained to me what is going on. Did i buy broken headphones ?

So I'm having issues with what sounds like electrical interference on my brand new Mod Mic 4.0. I've tried with usb sound card and integrated mobo sound and on two separate computers. Is it just that the mic itself is just bad? Do I need to contact Antlion? I'll avoid posting it as a link (Please don't hit me for spam) but here's a video with the audio issues I'm having: https://youtu.be/yjh_8XCq0RE You'll see on the video how it comes in and out. This was connected directly into the mobo but the same thing happened with a Sabrent USB sound card.

Hi, new to the home audio section. TL;DR: how can I get my Apple TV remote to control volume of my Samsung HW K470 Soundbar? Hardware: LG 55” 4K TV with HDR Dolby Vision 2017 Apple TV 4K with Siri Remote Samsung HW K470 HDMI soundbar Two 4K HDMI cables supporting HDMI-CEC and ARC. I’ve had the TV and Apple TV since 11/17, but since I’m moving into a smaller apartment, I’m downsizing from my nice 5.1 system to this sound bar (picked up for $130 but with no remote) Two issues are present with the soundbar: 1st. It’s not 4K compliant. My bad but I can live with that since it’s only a temporary solution. 2nd. I don’t have a remote, and I’ve yet to get the Siri remote to adjust the volume properly. Presently it can only increase the volume. Does anyone know how I can get it working so that I can continue using a single remote? I found a replacement for the stock remote online but i would prefer to not need it. Thank you!

So I recently bought a Blue Yeti as I'm an aspiring musician who wants to record vocals at home. Upon plugging it in, it was working alright and stuff but I could notice lots of ambient noise, disturbance and some crackle. I have 4 PCs at home, and tried it on them, and this problem persisted on most except maybe a Surface Pro that I can hardly use cos my dad takes it to office - I hence couldn't test it out very well on the SP so results are still inconclusive. What utterly shocked me about it was just how much clearer it sounded when I took it to my cousins house and plugged it into his PC. It was almost crystal clear and I could instantly hear the difference between the recordings. I have a Lenovo AiO, a Lenovo Flex 10, a Lenovo Thinkpad X240 and a Microsoft Surface Pro. My cousin's is an HP ProBook something. None of them have dedicated audio cards or such, although I know as a fact that a USB mic like the Yeti doesn't depend on it at all. As for acoustics, I'm pretty sure they were similar, in fact, better at my place. On the ProBook the recording took place in a room with no sound-proofing or special acoustics as such and still came out better, while on my PCs in my room, I tried cushioning, curtains, soundproof-ish windows, and all that - basically all that I can do without spending a penny, and that STILL sounded better. What's going on? I'd love it if you could read this thread that I had begun when I had a Blue Snowball that I had borrowed from a friend, and in that too, results were very similar, with the conclusions... well.... inconclusive. There are some additional details to a similar condition here. Here is the link, if you could be kind enough to read it. https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/880520-why-does-sound-through-an-external-mic-sound-different-on-my-laptop-and-pc/?tab=comments#comment-10886194 PLEASE help me. I'm on the verge of beginning the journey of living my musical dream, and I don't want something as stupid as this, playing spoilsport. Thanks a lot!!!
