I want to use Atom as my IDE. I know its not, but I have heard that you can set it up with the gcc compiler to act like an IDE, but since I am new to POP OS and linux in general I don't know how to do so. I used to use VS Community edition on windows but then I moved to Pop OS and am on the lookout for an IDE or an Editor + Compiler setup.

Hi, I'm having difficulty booting my Intel Bay Lake/Bay Trail-T development board. The screen hangs on the Intel Inside screen. I'm getting the POST code 012F (can't find any info on what that means) and in the boot log attached I get errors regarding an "Invalid OSIP". I managed to SSH into the board via serial connection to my laptop to get the boot log. Board is running an Engineering Sample Atom SoC equivalent to an Atom Z3775. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks. Ok, I was asked to price a build with an Intel Atom (no specific model) 8 gb of RAM and mini-itx form. Doesn't need storage as this guy apparently has it, I'm just having trouble figuring out how to get ahold of the processor. Thanks in advance, links appreciated.

source: https://kb.netgear.com/000037344/Service-Note-for-RN3130-RN3138-WC7500-and-WC7600v2 what all of these devices have in common? well, as The Register found out, they all are powered by Intel's Atom (C2000 series) Avoton CPUs, CPUs that are known to stop booting over time so, if your business/institution has one of these devices in their racks, better contact NETGEAR before the Atom chips decide to die

Is an Atom processor on a full size motherboard more powerful than one on a stick? OK here;s the back story. I have an ancient case that I'm sentimental over. I was thinking about throwing an Atom and 4 gig in it then hooking it up to my garage TV. I want low heat and just to stream video. My garage is hot enough already. Would I be better off getting rid of the case and just giving into an Atom on a stick, that's portable. and maybe more versatile? Or, does an Atom on a uATX offer more bang for buck, power, and fun? Keep in mind. I don't need to be adding heat to this place. I just need it to stream Netflix and/or Comcast while I tinker.

I'm in need for a laptop or 2-in-1 for taking notes at University. YouTube, MS office are my use cases. Even if it only lasts me 1year. I'm trying to find out how cheap I can go on a 10-13inch laptop. What are the use cases of laptops with Atom, Celeron and Pentium processors (Why are there laptops with each of these processors?) Which processor type would be the cheapest, pleasant experience for my use?

I watched this video to learn how to set up a local coding work flow. What I wanted to do is insert gulp starter and google web starter kit from my github desktop into my terminal. The thing I also wanna do is just like the video shown I wanna be able to edit on my atom and see the live result on google chrome. However this video is too confusing. Can someone help me to guide me through the process??? I have github desktop , atom and node.js installed in my Macbook. However I do not know how to tell whether gulp starter and google web starter are installed in my terminal or not. If I did not say anything clear enough, ask me to specify please. I am new to this.

Recently installed Atom text editor. Installed GPP package for C/C++. But it fails to compile my code by printing "G++ missing..." I really like this text editor because I find it easier to read and code in this editor. I have tried reinstalling GPP package but the issue still persists.

Hi all. So for father's day, I told my dad that I was going to take his old computer that he uses to run his business and upgrade it. Now I know Father's day was already about a week ago, but I've just barely been home to take a look at his computer. However, when I opened it up, it didn't look like anything that I've ever seen before in my life. No PSU (it's external), and the mother board isn't one of the ones that I have ever used to build before. So I'm stuck. I really want to do this upgrade, but I don't really know where to start. Below I have a rough draft of a parts list for what I want to build: Motherboard: ASRock - H110M-ITX Mini ITX LGA1151 Motherboard (I have a Skylake processor to flash the BIOS) CPU: Intel - Pentium G4560 3.5GHz Dual-Core Processor CPU Cooler: Noctua - NH-L9i 33.8 CFM CPU Cooler RAM: Crucial - 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR4-2133 Memory x2 Now I'm not working with a whole lot of space, only about 2.25 inches (57.15mm) since all of the other components (CD drive and SSD) are located on the back side of the motherboard. (There's a plate in between the two.) Is there anything that I can do? I've never worked with this kind of motherboard before, or an external power supply. The idea is to stay as cheap as possible while still improving the speed of his computer. Any help would be welcome! I'll attach some pictures when I have access to better internet. Thank you!

Hello, First of all sorry if I'm off-topic with this question but I'm not into hardware and I'm trying to get a grip of what would be good before I go and buy something to find out that it was a mistake after all. I'm currently running on an i3 laptop with 4gb mem. I'm currently building some websites etc via Vagrant setups and other VMs etc. As you can understand running a VM and PhpStorm ( or Atom ) together for my current PC is a mess as I'm usually waiting 5+mins to even work with VCS and built diffs / commits or even make a search in the whole project at some points ( average lines of code per .php file ~5-10k ). After searching all of YouTube and all possible pages online I'm even more confused. I've found this bargain ( I think ) workstation that goes like: HP Workstation Z620 2 x Intel Xeon Hexa Core E5 2620 2 Ghz (24 threads total / 30M cache) (Up to 2.5 Ghz) nVidia Quadro NVS300 512MB PCI-E ( total 2 x vga 2 x dvi ) ( I don't care about graphics that much but it will be nice having a 3rd screen finally! ) 8gb DDR3 ECC ( up to 192gb ) ( I will probably boost it from the start to 16gb ) 500gb ssd ---- My main question is would it support running 1 instance of vagrant + phpstorm without problems and slow-downs ? I can understand the 'server' power of this box but I have no idea how to translate it to user process if I'm making myself clear here . I'm not into gaming or whatever else I just want to code without having headaches from waiting 10 minutes for a save that could end up in a crash and lose everything . That's all I ask pretty much as my i3 is starting to get on my nerves with all this lagging and crashing. Sorry again if I'm off-topic but didn't find any suitable sub-forum. Best regards, Konstantinos

Like the title says, i'm wondering if the atom is good enough for the HE4xx. I've heard they are hard to drive, and using a power calculator i found out that they need at most around 500mW to work at the highest volume. Now i'm not sure about it, because there is no information if the sensitivity of the headphones is SPL/mW or SPL/V, and with SPL/V the power needed jumps up to 14.000 mW, which looks insane. The JDS labs atom is supposed to output 1 watt at 32 ohms, and the HE4xx have an impedence of 35ohms, so i suppose it's around the same, and the Atom has double the power needed to drive them. But i'm still not sure, i've read that a magni 3 is not enough to drive them, and i think it has even more power than an Atom, so i really don't know. Anyone knows something about this or has first hand experience?

Hello there, folks. So, here's a question I waited long enough to post here: How much Computing Power is really necessary for Web Development? (JS, CSS, HTML, BOOTSTRAP) But wait, there's more: And how about backend stuff (like managing servers, dealing with databases etc)? (JAVA and C# mostly) I know gaming and game development need beastly machines, but how about the other things? Cause if you look into the interwebz people will recommend i9 with titan z and 128 gigs of ram, but dude... that can't be truth... can it? How much cpu do we really need to the day to day web development?

Hello LTT community! Once again I am asking for your support. Things are like this, I have this old Intel atom tablet that I mainly use for media consumption (YouTube) and a bit of web browsing. Being an Intel atom I would aspect it to overheard a bit more than normal but not as much as untouchable levels. If the back portion of it is covered, it overheats like hell... It starts dropping frames all over the place and even the UI lags. Yes, it's true that the battery is old and the CPU is 32nm but when brand new it barely did anything like this, I was even gaming on it... The device in cause it's an Asus Fonepad 7 Fe170CG (2014) Does anyone have any ideas what is happening?

I'm looking for a rack mountable NAS to be a general file depository, PLEX server, and NVR; right now I'm eyeing up a Synology RS1219+ but have a few questions. Synology RS1219+ 1) Is the Atom C2538 really enough to run plex on 2-3 devices? Right now It's all 1080, but 4k video files are certainly coming so I want the power to handle that. 2) Does anyone have any experience with using a Synology NAS as an NVR? Is this really the best way to go, or should I look at a dedicated NVR? 3) *Dumb Question Alert* This is an 8 bay NAS, can I populate five or six of the bays right away, then populate the remaining slots in the future as needed, or will this cause issues with the RAID configuration. I'm currently thinking RAID6 but I'm no expert, so if that's dumb I can move to something else. Thanks in advance for the advice!

I recently posted about having blurriness issues with the Atom code editor. Text occasionally becomes blurry until I click on it and then it comes back into focus, but then it becomes blurry again. I used the Nvidia control panel to turn antialiasing off, but that did not work. Could I please have some help. Here is the old post:

I recently had a mishap with my little 8" Intel Atom-based Windows 10 tablet, and was wondering what I can do with it now... I thought it might be fun to remove the motherboard, mount it in a little box and attach some break-out cables so that its a portable Mini PC. The main issue I have with this is that, due to it being a cheapo tablet, it only has a single USB port which is used for charging AND connected devices such as a mouse and/or keyboard. I have done some research on USB cables/adaptors that support attaching a charger AND devices at the same time but apparently a lot of devices, especially lower-end ones, don't tend to support this? Instead I thought maybe I could remove the battery and hard-wire an alternative power source onto the board in its place. Is this a feasible solution? The obvious things to consider are the incoming VOLTS and AMPS from the new power source so I guess it might be possible to source a power circuit to handle this? Has anybody tried anything like this before? Cheers Matt

hi. so this is an follow up to the "low-spec intel learning shall rise!!" post i did a long time ago and i can say more things. lets get started. 1. the heat so the heat. i said an cozy 80 C now it is currently 61 C (no it didnt start now) and lowest temp was 51 C and it was running a long time 2. youtube and web i said 360p in youtube now it is 480p and that post was right after i got linux 3.the os no it is still lubuntu but instead of 17.10 it is running 18.04 "bionic beaver" and it is the same 4.screen brightness well i cant dim it 5. the laptop version so i did not knew the hardware version of the pc. it is E11IS1 but the color is blue. here is the link to it: http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_SPEC.aspx?DetailID=1183&CategoryID=3&DetailName=Feature&MenuID=93&LanID=0 so that wraps it up for now i am still using it today it runs well and if you are planning to get an "dirt" cheap pc which has plenty of storage for linux/coding etc. use that is an good candidate for that and until next time sam out.

Ok so this question popped out of nowhere but lets say you have a blade that is like any other long blade BUT it's width is the size of an atom. So lets say with this blade you cut through someone completely. Would that person die, bleed ,survive, or would something else happen to that person.(This blade is extremely durable like any other sword except the width is a width of an atom)

Hello eveeyone i Just got an Old Hand me Down Notebook from my dad but it is super slow so i did some Research and found Out it only has 1GB of ram and a Atom N450 Professor so i am thinking about upgrading it to a D2550 Professor and 4GB of ram. The Laptop Model is a NP-N230-HAV1DE. Would that be possible? Do i need to consider something Special? I,ve alread searched for a D2550 but i couldnt find one.

Netherlands based research group demonstrates the possibility of single atom data storage. C&EN Newsletter Article by Stu Borman Gizmodo Article by George Dvorsky The concept of data storage on the nano scale is nothing new, and was discussed in the late fifties by Richard Feyman, however technology has only recently progressed to experimentally perform and validate this concept. PDF of Richard Feyman Lecture discussing Atom Encoded Storage So What? The method devised allows for a massive decrease in the size required to store data. Over the past century various forms and improvements have been made to data storage, History of Data Storage -Techquickie, and this nano technology could have much larger implications towards the future of commercial data storage. Current data storage is primarily limited to Solid State and Hard Disk Drives, each require a minimum physical size to each point of data, effectively establishing a limit to how small the data storage can progress. The method devised utilizes individual atoms of chlorine deposited onto a copper surface. Using the needle of a scanning tunnelling microscope the atoms can be shuffled around, and by doing so filled or empty positions can be established due to the presence or lack there of chlorine. This in turn can be interpreted as a 1 or 0, which can be strung together to form bits, and larger forms of data such as letters. Within the spoiler below is a youtube video describing the storage method posted by Sander Otte of Delft University The researchers have already achieved actual data storage by recording Richard Feyman's lecture using this method in a roughly 100nm sized plate featuring several 64-bit blocks representing several characters. However the technology as it stands now is not "production ready". The device requires an operating temperature of 77Kelvin (-196Celsius), as opposed to previous potential devices which required a temperature 10Kelvin (-263Celsius), to ensure the device remains stable.
