I recently shifted to Windows 11 and a new problem started to occur. My display won't stop flickering *see video*. I have reinstalled the display drivers for my laptop (ASUS Zenbook 13 UX331UA). It has an i7-8550u with UHD 620 graphics. The two display drivers I have from ASUS are: 27.20.100.8682 and 26.20.100.7325. Both cause the incontrollable flickering. I can use the "Microsoft Basic Display Adaptor Drivers" which stops the flickering, but is also not the best as it doesn't let me change brightness levels and it is choppy. Windows Update is not helpful here...can I use other laptop model's display drivers that have similar specs? Any input is appreciated. 20230620_171416.mp4

Hey all, My current laptop is dying on me and I need a replacement for it, soon. Although I'm not foreign to tech, I'd really appreciate some input from the community on the quality / viability of each of my choices. I'm going to be writing, compiling, and running some various codes on my laptop. Some more intense than others. Some of the simulations I am using also benefit from Cuda Core optimisation. My choices are the Dell XPS 13 9315 - 16 GB ram - ~1200 EUR Asus Zenbook 14 OLED UM3402 - 16 GB ram, Ryzen 7 7730U - ~1100 EUR Asus Vivobook pro 16x - 16 GB ram, i7 11370H, RTX 3050 - ~ 1200 EUR I would go for the XPS 13 based on reputation and build quality alone if it wasnt for the lack of dedicated graphics and small screen. Although I do have external monitors that I will be using, it still concerns me. Similar concerns for the Zenbook 14. The Zenbook 14 also boasts a high res OLED screen, and the Vivobook 16x a 4k OLED. For people in development and/or experience with these laptops, what would you recommend? I intend to use this laptop for a minimum of 5-6 years, to finish my Masters and continue with my PhD. Cheers, Eric

So recently while browsing through Amazon I came across a version of the Asus Zenbook Duo line-up, which was available with an i5/i7-10th generation processor along with 8gb of ram(cannot be upgraded I think) and a MX250 2gb graphics card. It is a 14 inch device(unlike the pro duo which is 15.6 inch) and is only available in Eurasia, I think. It's not available in North America that's all I know. I, myself, am an Indian would like to ask if the device is worth it or not. It costs 89749 INR(which is like $1250) for the i5 model. Is it worth it to go for the second screen or should I get a laptop, priced similarly, which has better hardware? If yes which one? Hey guys! I recently bought a Asus Zenbook U430UA! great laptop, but recently my CPU has been acting weird! So my CPU's base clock is 1.60 Ghz to 1.8Ghz. I never seen it cross 1.80Ghz, but today I realized my laptop was running hot on simple tasks, then I decided to check on my CPU and its running at 4.0Ghz!!! And the ultra-book fans can't cool it down fast enough. Is there any solution for this?? I am so confused, I research about it, but couldn't find anything, this is possible my last hope.

Hello, I have a asus zenbook pro UX501JW and it is running windows 10. I have no clue why but I turn on my computer and 50% of the time it boots into Windows normally, But the other 50% of the time it gets stuck in a BIOS loop and does not detect a drive(NVME SSD). When the computer does get into a BIOS loop it does not go away no matter what I do whether it is change random setting or spam the save and exit key. The BIOS only goes away after 20 mins of doing random things. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated Thanks -Bossstrike

Asus Zenbook UX305UA Review Note: This review is a first for me, so if you like it or have any other questions. write them down in the comments. Okay, so I just recently bought the Asus Zenbook UX305UA, god I hate product names, and I’ve been using it for about a week now. So I thought for a minute, and said,”Hey, why not put out what I think of this laptop?” Now I’m here writing this article on my Google Drive. The 305 is a 13.3” laptop with an i5-6200u, 8GB of Ram, 256GB SSD, and a 1080p (non-touch) display. The special part about this laptop is that it gives you all of these features with a price of $750! Yep, this is basically a device made to beat out other ultrabooks, yes, it’s an ultrabook at only 2.9lbs. The body has a decision extremely reminiscent of the dying Macbook Air, with shockingly accurate bezels and feel. The 305’s keyboard is not backlit, which I guess is a bummer for a growing number of people, but being honest I no longer look at the keyboard when I type, so I don’t really understand the use case for the backlight, so I guess to each his own. The track pad however, is complete cancer. It’s surface is not glass, and is neither smooth nor good feeling. My finger constantly feels the friction as I use the track pad, and just feels like I’m using a more fragile feeling version of my 2007 Toshiba Laptop. I actually found myself taking out my old Alienware mouse and plugging it into the laptop so I wouldn’t have to use the track pad. I’ll be honest here, My $200 trackpad on my school loaned chromebook feels better and smoother than this one. The display. . . is nothing special. Just a simple 1080p display that’s a little cool out of the box, like most other laptops. Non-Gloss and all that other stuff. . . 95% sRGB and 71% AdobeRGB. The main missing feature with the display is the fact that it doesn’t include a touchscreen. Yeah, I get that touchscreens are becoming more and more necessary, but if you honestly needed a touch screen display, you should just buy the Zenbook 303 for $70 more if you’re truly dying. The battery is a 54 watt hour cell that lasts about what you’d expect. I get about 7-8 hours of usage from 100-0% at about 50% brightness. The wifi card is an intel 802.11 A/C, nothing special but it gets the job done. The card is supposed to be a little slower than the newer wifi cards found in newer ultrabooks, but I don’t really notice the difference day to day. The laptop, being an ultrabook, comes with intel hd graphics 520 which, surprisingly, managed to get an average of 45 fps on my Minecraft usage benchmark. For all you other people, it got a score of 821 on the 3DMark Firestrike Benchmark. The SSD is made by Micron, which is connected over a SATA 3 interface that’s 256 GB strong. I get about 460 Mbps read. The boot time is less than 10 seconds to boot up the first app, and use smoothly. The laptop also comes with another configuration for $70 more that comes with a backlit keyboard and touch screen display, and $400 more for a 512 GB SSD, 12Gb of ram, a Quad HD Display (2560x1440), and a gtx940m with the exact same body as before. The Laptop has 3 USB 3.0 Ports, an SD-Card Reader, a mini hdmi port, and a headphone jack. No USB-C, but I guess we can’t expect future proofness with a budget of $750. Fun fact, I didn’t know that a mini hdmi port was a thing until I checked out a review of this laptop. The world’s adding so much random crap. There’s little no no noticeable keyboard flex that I can detect as I write this review on my bed, but the power jack isn’t quite as good. It’s a thick style design that takes up two spots on an outlet because of how fat it is, and the jack just seems a little too far out of the laptop when it’s plugged in to feel safe and secure. The 305 comes with no actual software that I felt the need to remove, other than one or two that I usually do, but those are just because I don’t see the use for them, not because their bloatware. The Speakers are bottom firing and are muffled whenever they're in use, I can’t really say much more as I usually use headphones, but expect what you’d get from bottom firing speakers. Finally, the hand rest area seems to show sweat quite easily as I am beginning to notice as I type this review, but don’t leave any mark, just a little odd. To conclude, the UX305UA is what you'd expect from an ultrabook, a premium feel, oddly mac like design, better than average display, light weight, no dvd drive, and other premium things. What makes the 305 special is that it gives you all of this, aside from a decent trackpad, for less than $750. It's truly an amazing price point. *Update - 11.02.16 - Once battery drops below 10% and battery saver starts kicking in, it pretty much becomes unusable until you put it into a wall charger. Asus' low power mode is wayyy to strong. Other than that, everything in the review is about right.

So after this summer im going to start high school and i need to take the train in to copenhagen in denmark and id like a small 13.3 inch laptop with "long" battery so i can do homework on my way. The school is a technical school so we get adobe creative cloud for free and i have been looking at a Asus Zenbook UX305CA with the specs: Core m3 6Y30, 8 gb ram, 256 gb ssd. I need to know if it can handle it. My guess is no but i cant find any benchmarks or other stuff on photoshop. I know it is a slower cpu but it can turbo boost to a pretty good speed and its hyperthreaded. I know video rendering wont be a blast but will it give me smooth timeline scrolling and overall feel... etc? Does anyone have experience with photoshop on a ultrabook? Or premier? Thanks in advance

Hello, I'm in the market for a new laptop and currently have my eyes on this zenbook 303la (The laptop I'll be replacing has a full keyboard that I think I'll be missing, but out of curiosity does anyone know of any good, lightweight laptops out there with a full keyboard?) This asus zenbook ux303la that I'm considering seems like an excellent machine but sometimes I wonder if I even need to spend all that money on a laptop if all I use one for is internet / netflix / and drawing with programs like open canvas 1.1 and sketchbook. The processor on my current laptop is an amd a6 4400M, that I've had for maybe 3 years and works decently well, so the pentium n3700 would be faster than what I'm used to, correct? But would a lesser expensive laptop like this dell inspiron 11 last me or need to be replaced sooner that the zenbook would need to be replaced? So, would spending that extra $300 really pay off or could I skate by on the dell with little to no issues for years to come? Thanks.

Having been a long time Linus/NCIX tech tips watcher I decided to ask the community for some advise. I'm starting college a few weeks and wanted to buy a laptop. Initially I had saved up around 2800$ and wanted to go for a premium grade laptop like the Thinkpad W540 or the Dell xps 15. But as Intel is battling the laws of physics and pushing its Broadwell laptops past the early 2015 mark, I have decided to buy a mid-high end ultrabook instead and use with my Sony vaio s15(which has a battery life that looks to be powered by a potato) for all the "heavy lifting". My budget is around 900$, The laptop should have a good if not great screen running at at least 1080p , a awesome battery life(7.5+ hrs), a good keyboard with nice travel (I have been known to pound my keys) and a I5 with 8 gigs of RAM(I wouldn't worry too much about the storage capacity, 120 gigs should be just fine). The trackpad doesn't matter much but should have decent gesture support. I have looked at the XPS 12 but the XPS 13 seems to be better(Battery life, bigger screen etc.) **ALSO, I HAVE A STRICT POLICY AGAINST MACs.**
