Hey I'm upgrading my old system with a custom waterloop. I have some old Noctua fan that served me well but now I want some RGB in my life (bed-work-desk-bed). So I'm looking for good RGB fans for use with radiators (2x 240). My problem is, I have an old mainboard (Asus Maximus VI Impact) therefor I have NO RGB header on it. So I need a controller. I got an EK-Vector RTX 2080 RGB waterblock that I would like to add to the RGB System. I will have at least 4 fans maybe a 5th one depending of space in the case left. So the NZXT CAM Controller will not work. Corsairs Comander Pro with a Lighting Nod would be possible but it is so expensive and if I remember right is it a custom connector so I could not use the RGB on the GPU waterblock. Any suggestions for fans and controller ? Thank you for any suggestions -Frownwarrior

Hi Guys and Gals, So over the last few months I've been having a serious issue with my PC and can't seem to isolate the issue. Basically, my PC shuts down (completely looses power) without warning or BSOD after 30 minutes of being on. I have check windows event viewer and couldn't see anything out of the ordinary I've run various tests on individual components with no luck. Any help or advice would be much appreciated. So far I have: Replaced the PSU Stress tested CPU, GPU and Ram. Programs used, Furmark, OCCT and Mem Test (Temps were in a normal range) Tested PC withiout GPU, using built in MoBo graphics Left running in Bios mode Replaced Cmos Battery I know I probably haven't done as much as the average nerd would but I'm still fairly new to the custom build world. Specs: GPU: Gigabyte GV-N760OC-4GD CPU: Intel 4770K PSU: 650W Cooler Master V-Series 650S Gold MoBo: Asus Maximus VI Impact Cooling: Cooler Master Seidon 120XL Water Cooling Kit RAM: 2x4GB G.SKILL Ripjaws 1600MHz DDR3 Ram

So here's what's going on. a while ago I built an amazing ITX sized system for a friend of mine who has now moved to Chicago, which is very far away from California where I live. His Computer bluescreened at one point and he decided to reinstall the operating system which is windows 8.1. This worked except for a single update for which he called a microsoft supoort guy in to help. It was apparently the update that allowed metro apps to be closed like normal apps. anyways, the computer has bluescreened again recently and I cannot figure out why it is doing this. the system never had problems with me when I was building and testing it at my house. I even recommended he remove the SSD and just use the seagate 1TB HDD since the SSD setup is quite nontraditional. Now the only drivers that were able to install from the Asus support site were the intel chipset drivers. Not even windows updates will isntall. I'm considering fixing this by jumping on team viewer and reinstalling windows update for him. I absolutely cannot figure out what is going on. here is the current setup: Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Impact Z87 (original bios) memory: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz CL9 1.5V CPU: Intel i5 4670K CPU Cooling: Corsair H100i w/ two Corsair SP120mm quiet edition fans GPU: Asus GTX 780ti Direct CUII PSU: Rosewill Capstone 650 Watt 80Plus Gold Storage: Seagate 1TB 7200RPM Optical: Lite-On 24X DVD RW Case: Corsair Obsidian 250D In the old setup, the storage would have included a crucial M500 mSATA ssd CT240M500SSD3 inside if a mydigitalSSD msata to 2.5" enclosure. like I said, nontraditional ssd setup. Anyways, all of this hardware should be compatible. I measured the power usage of the system at around 500W so I don't think the power supply has anything to do with it. Anyone out there have any ideas? I'd greatly appreciate it.

Hey everyone! I could really need some help, suggestions here: I recently built a new MiniITX system and ran into issues right from the start... Im going to list my system specs: Asus Maximus Vi Impact motherboard Intel Core i7 4770K cpu cooled with a Corsair H110 Corsair Vengence 8gb 1600MHz C8 RAM (2x4gb) ASUS Radeon 7970 graphics card - reference cooler Corsair RM650W PSU Corsair Force GT 120gb SSD First of all, after assembling the system, the Impact gave me the number 71 on the debug LED. So i started testing all my components. It came out that everything runs just fine on other motherboards, so i flashed the BIOS with the BIOS flashback feature that this board supports. (although i could not find how to rename the bios file at first, but the bios renamer under bios utilities worked). So i installed Win7 and all, but to be honest, my 4770K runs f***ing hot. Untouched clock speeds, not even XMP is enabled, the chip pulls a 1.26V and the core temps reached 85 degrees celsius at 3900MHz turbo speed. Remember this is a Corsair H110 cooling the CPU with two pressure optimized fans on the radiator, currently in pull setup. Thermal paste is an Arctic Cooling MX4. Repasted it a couple of times to test differences. What i did after, was try overclocks but the damn thing wont even run a 4.2GHz stable. I followed so many guides how to oc haswells but without success. Then i did delid the chip, changed the TIM , now core temps went down to a 67-74 degrees celsius under load, however the package temp is still reaching 79-82 degrees, just like the labeled as CPU temp (on OCCT). Tests i used are: prime95 and occt I realized something that im not sure is right.. the Impact Power (the raised pcb part where the boards power management is) is f****ing hot. I mean so hot under load that it burns my fingers within a second! I have built a few systems before, but never experienced something this hot to the touch on a motherboard, unless it was faulty. Also a big issue in my opinion, that the Vengeance heatspreaders touch the side of the impact power so they are getting insanely hot aswell. These rams were never hot in my previous system, and they ran 1.65V, 1866, c9 there along with a 2700K stable on 5GHz. I know 4770K -s do not oc well, or the difference between chips is huge, but not even 4.2GHz?? 3.9 GHz and temps on package reaching 82 degrees, core 0 at 79 degrees? After delid-ing? Oh and these temps occur even on a test bench. Room temp is 21 degrees celsius. Do you guys thing that my motherboard is faulty, or its just such a bad chip, or am i really this stupid and im missing something? Looking forward to your replies. Thanks!

Hey guys, I currently own a Creative X-Fi Titanium HD and I'm using Sennheiser PC 360 headphones and Corsair SP2500 speakers. I was wondering if purchasing the new Maximus VI Impact would be a upgrade in sound quality. I want a small factor computer, so would it be worth sacrificing the PCIe slot or should I buy the Maximus VI Gene and continue to use my Titanium HD? If the Titanium HD is just a small gap over the on-board sound quality on the Impact, I'd still see that as a upgrade.

Hello I am a bit confused if the new Devil's Canyon Intel i7 4790k would work on a Z87 motherboard, in my case the ASUS Maximus VI Impact Websites such as PC Part Picker suggest a bios update and Amazon saying the CPUS are not compatible with Z87 boards. Thanks -Blair
