Greetings, My Asus laptop X415JA with BIOS Aptio American megratrends inc (blue and gray standard bios) is not letting me change anything about ram settings. So far, I have found how to change to an advanced mode (in the same Aptio American megratrends inc bios) but for some other brands like HP, ACER and MSI. CONTROL + F1 will grant acces to more advanced settings in HP laptops. Shift + Control + Alt + f2 will grant acces to more advanced settings in MSI laptops. Pressing FN + TAB 3 times in a row will grant acces to more advanced settings in Acer laptops. Unfortunately, I have not found how to do it on ASUS laptops. Does anyone know? My goal is to change the frecuency of my ram, curently stuck at 2333. thanks!

While trying to find a laptop a came across the Asus k501lx. The reviews seemed mixed at best. I really like this laptop but I'm not sure if I should purchase it over an acer aspire. Does anyone else have experience with asus laptops and how long I can expect one to last. Edit: I should mention it's refurbished from a business surplus warehouse.

Nvidia GPU throttling at 72°C [Asus K501UX]
Zero Fox posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
My laptop is an Asus K501UX with an Intel Core i7 6500u (dual core), Nvidia GTX 950m 2 GB (factory overclock at 1124 MHz), and 8 GB DDR3 RAM. I know it's not a high-end gaming laptop, most games run poorly at the native resolution (1080p), but is really upsetting that the games I manage to run at 1080p or 900p are later capped by the temperature limit. I'm using MSI Afterbuner with Riva Turner Statistics Server to watch over the temp and the GPU and vRAM clock, at 72°C the GPU clock can throttle all the way down to 500 MHz, it's pretty low temperature to thermal throttle in my opinion. Also in other laptops the temp limit is over 85°C and in Nvidia webpage the common limit of its GPUs is 105°C, so it should be safe to change the temp limit to something like 85 o 90 degrees. Using MSI Afterbuner i discover that i can overclock the GPU up to 1259 MHz, but at that clock it just reach the temp limit faster so is useless right now. The Temp Limit slider is disable so I can't change it from there. I read that modding the Nvidia BIOS i can change the Temp Limit, that seems a little dangerous so I consider it as a last optiton, i follow some steps from a Nvidia forum and i manage to make a copy of the Nvidia BIOS and check it out with the Maxwell BIOS Tweaker and found out that the Temp Limit is set to 92°C, so apparently modding is not an option. Is there any way to change the temp limit?- 23 replies

I need a replacement battery for this https://www.ultrabookbatteries.com/genuine-asus-x540l-a31n1519-a31lo4q-33whr-10-8v-2-9ah-battery.html/A31LO4Q and was wondering if anyone knew of any cheaper options or a better replacement for it. Looking at the battery it looks pretty simple, could I simply buy 3 new NCR18650A batteries (the one i need a replacement for comprises of 3 of these taped together with a red and black wire connecting) and redo the connections myself? Or even buy 3 better batteries to replace it with a better one? How would I go about this; how difficult/dangerous would that be?

So I've had this Asus Zenbook Pro UX501JW for half a year now until it all of a sudden stopped working. I tried booting it, but it wont even do that, the only thing that happens is the 3 LEDs light up (Power indicator, AC Adapter indicator and Airplane Mode indicator), the screen is just black. I've tried hard resetting it the normal way by disconnecting the battery (Opening this thing wasnt fun, 10 Torx T5 screws and 2 Philips screws) that didnt work. Then I removed all hardware (ram, ssd, wifi) I could remove + CMOS battery, after that when I plug in the AC Adapter and it turns on directly after, with the same result of black screen and 3 LED indicators on. Then I re inserted everything back, same thing happened.... So what can I do next? Should I just RMA the damn thing and sit through Asus' painful and terrible Customer Service? hmm

So, my brother's Asus FX502VM-AS73 laptop suddenly stopped working today. When his wife turned it on to use it, it was in the BIOS. She tried to get out of the BIOS, but it froze and turned off. When he turns it on the screen is black, but the fans are still running. He tried taking out the battery, CMOS battery, and pressing the power button, but that isn't working. I should mention that he thinks he's out of luck when it comes to the warranty. I haven't been able to confirm if that is true. That's just what he said. Does anyone have a possible solution or what could be causing the problem?

Hi guys, So i bought this laptop last January. It's Asus Vivobook S15 X530UF. It's CPU is Intel Core i3-8130U CPU @ 2.20GHz. It has 2GB nvidia graphic. I mostly play pugb game on this laptop and the temperature goes to up to 70C. Is this normal ? Last month my laptop's motherboard was in bad shape. It wasn't starting at all, fully dead wasn't even charging. After taking to customer service 2 times, they changed the motherboard. That's what they said. Basically i used the laptop for more than 13 hours per day continuously for few month. After that i started to play pugb game and within a month my laptop faced that motherboard issue. Now i am worried if i use this laptop like before and also play the game then it's motherboard will face the same problem again. The problem with this laptop is its very slim and it has different type of fan inserted. I mean i can't even use laptop cooling fan because this laptop below is fully covered. You can see that laptop from this link: https://www.asus.com/bd/Laptops/ASUS-VivoBook-S15-S530UF/ I would like to know what you guys would recommend me to do. If i should play this game if so then should i use the cooling fan. What should i do to decrease the temperature. Sorry for my bad english. Thanks in advance.

I own an Asus Zenbook Flip 14 UX461UN. After a while I noticed that it keeps waking up from sleep, particularly when the lid is closed. Also, if it does I can't get it to wake up from sleep mode. Furthermore, it overheats during these time lapses, and I can't figure out what is the problem. Does anyone have any idea or can help me, before I contact the support?

So I bought a laptop used recently, and it was stuck in a boot loop. I tried to do a fresh install of Windows 10, and it would work, but after installing the graphics driver (for the gtx 970m), it freezes at startup with the Asus logo. I ended up taking the laptop apart and saw that someone had previously used thermal material for both the gpu and cpu. I cleaned it off and applied some ic diamond, and reinstalled windows 10. And then the laptop worked! Until the graphics driver was installed. It would work sometimes, but would other times just get stuck at the boot screen. If it did boot to the desktop, sometimes it would freeze or have a white screen. It would work sometimes with the ic diamond, and I even ran unigine heaven. I'm thinking maybe the problem is with the thermal pad/material on the rest of the gpu. It looks very unevenly applied. My question is, might this be the thermal material on the rest of the gpu that's causing the problems? I've already swapped hard drives, and alternated ram sticks, so I'm almost positive it's the gpu. I'm going to try to reapply thermal paste using antec formula 7 instead of ic diamond. I've attached photos.

My ASUS K501-WH74 laptop doesn't power up anymore. I've had this device for a little under a year now. When the battery is in and the charger is plugged in, one of the fans (the bigger one) starts up for a few seconds. The power and charge indicators also come on for the same amount of time, and then it shuts off. When the battery is disconnected but still plugged in, the power and airplane mode indicators blink continuously. The battery doesn't charge. This issue only started yesterday. Please I need solutions to this as soon as possible because I'm an Architecture student and I need to get this device up and running before the end of next week. Thank you.

So I've been having an issue with my laptop that i purchased in May of 2017. The laptop, every day, will give me a pop up saying that the "In product messaging application has stopped working". I've tried going in to task manager to see what it is, but I can't figure it out. Maybe someone out there can help. Thanks, Brendan

Hi all, I frequently use my 32 inch Samsung TV in my room as a secondary monitor or to project from my laptop via a HDMI cable. I was wondering what would be the best settings I could use to best optimise this as icons display extremely small, but I don't want to scale my display as it takes away from the quality. If anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it! Kind Regards, Dan.

Hi folks, I recently installed a windows 10 update (on the 17th of September). Since then I have been unable to connect my monitor to my laptop using the same everything as I did in the past. Specs- Monitor: ASUS VG248QE Laptop: ASUS NJ551X Graphics: Intel HD 4600 and GTX 950M Cable: Minidisplay port from laptop to display port on monitor, single cable, no adapters OS: Windows 10 So basically what happens is when I try to change to any of the external display modes (duplicate, extend or second monitor only) the VG248QE screen flashes for a second and then displays "NO SIGNAL", the laptop displays "The display settings could not be saved. Please try a different combination of display settings.". I have tried so many things and no matter what I do I just can't get the display on the monitor. Any help or input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I bought an Asus g75jl laptop that came with a 1TB HDD running windows 10. I have gotten tired of slow boot times so I purchased a 500gb 850evo ssd to put along side my HDD. I installed the drive in the second empty 2.5in slot and initialized the drive. Everything seems to be fine and working so I tried using samsungs cloning utility to put everything from the hdd to the ssd (only about 240gb of stuff) but every time I try it tells be the my target drive has been removed right after I start the cloning process. Am I doing something wrong?

Hello everybody, as the title says, I have a problem with Windows 8/8.1/10. After a few hours of usage I get the annoying Disk 100%, and I have turned off those 3 features which everyone's talking about. I don't think it's really a problem with my HDD. BTW I have an Asus laptop, which is an Asus K55VD-SX130D. Now, I have Windows 7, but I would like to run Windows 10 without this problem. Can you help me? Thanks in advance!

I need suggestions for a relatively inexpensive SSD to replace the HDD in an Asus K601J. It's my mom's laptop and as it stands now it takes more than five minutes to become usable. I've tried every software trick I know but I can't make it any faster(it used to take ten minutes). It doesn't have to be big as she has a lot of external storage for all her data, I would also like suggestions for decent USB to Sata converters. Specs Pentium T4400 2.2Ghz 4GB 500GB HDD Win 7

Disclaimer: I already solved the issue but I'm posting my workaround so that others with similar problems can find it. So I have a first gen Razer Mamba that I bought late 2009. The mouse have been working flawlessly since then (I know, amazing luck i have. Touch wood). In 2013, I got myself an Asus N550LF laptop for my studies in the UK. It came with only USB 3.0 ports. When I first plugged in the mouse in wireless it wouldn't work at all. I've tried updating the firmware for both the base station and the mouse even though I've kept it up to date. The mouse still won't work on wireless. It works just fine in wired mode. I managed to move the cursor using the mouse if I keep my track-pad's left and right button pressed. If I let go of the buttons the cursor will have a massive lag on it and it seems to overload the laptop with like 5792837594820 left and right clicks per second (Closing windows, deleting files, opening IE. It was horrifying to watch. The laptop was like possessed by a demon ). My only thought at that time was somehow the flight screwed up the base station (all those x-ray scanners and what not). I've tried to open it up to look for any signs of burnt circuits. Looks fine and dandy inside. I tried google-ing the issue on the net but it seems that no one else have the same problem as mine or couldn't be bothered to ask around or there is no solution. So I tried the mouse on wireless mouse once in a while for the past 6 months or so just in case Asus or Windows or Razer updated their drivers or something. Last month I got a USB 3.0 hub from amazon and casually tried the wireless mode again. IT WORKED!! But if I tried to plug the base station directly to the laptop, it won't work. For some reason the controller in hub allows my Mamba to work like normal again. I never would've thought the controller itself to be the issue. I expected the USB ports on the laptop itself would have the least amount of compatibility issue. So yeah...try to use a USB hub if your peripherals is acting weird. If anyone finds another solution to this problem please share it here as well. Would love to use the wireless mode but I don't really want to carry the hub around. Also, my quickfire tk won't work on the hub. Only direct connection will. I've tried both N-key and 6-key rollover modes. Any ideas? If it helps, here is the link to the USB hub
