Hi, looking for help on my Acer Aspire ES1-521 (AMD A8-6410 with AMD R5 Graphics/ 8GB DDR RAM). The problem started few months ago, but I didn't need a laptop till now so it was just waiting on a shelf. A laptop just freezes every few seconds, about 0,5 sec every 4-5 sec, right after turning it on, and running it longer doesn't affect it. Laptop was carefully cleaned and i applied a new thermal paste before installing new HDD and OS. Checked on both 120GB SSD and 1.5TB HDD, no difference. BIOS updated. Freezes on both Windows 10, fresh install, updated (used to work before) and Windows 11 (just to check). DOES NOT freeze on Win Server 2019, Linux Ubuntu or Debian. All drivers are up to date, from manufacturers site. Checked Task Manager, nothing wrong Checked temps with HW Monitor, nothing wrong. Set all power settings to high performace Checked Event Viewer, nothing wrong Tried unplugging some peripherals (CD-ROM, keyboard) no difference. Ran Windows Memory Diagnostic, nothing wrong Checked both HDD and SSD, nothing wrong. Ran a Windows Debloater on Win10, no change The goal is to use Windows 10 on it, as it is going to my wife, so Linux is not an option. I would really appreciate your help.

I realize that this is long but I tried to include as much information that I could to try and avoid something similar to the "turn it off and back on again" fix suggestion. Some pre-req info: MODEL: Acer aspire v nitro vn7-592g-71zl CPU: Intel i7-6700hq GPU: gtx 960m RAM: 16gb ddr3 (originally 8gb but was personally upgraded about a year ago) BOOT: 250gb nvme ssd boot drive (boot drive was originally the HDD but i upgraded to the nvme drive around 2017) STORAGE: 1tb HDD This laptop was purchased on 08/2016 and the warranty expired 3 years ago. Around the same time that i upgraded to the nvme drive, when taking apart the laptop, i broke a tiny piece off of the sliding retainer clip for the motherboard ribbon cable connecter. Nevertheless I was able to use what was left of the retainer clip to hold the ribbon cable in place and put it back together. That retainer clip has never been replaced to this day mainly to the fact that i cant find it sold anywhere and i would have to just get an entirely new motherboard to replace it. I have just gotten used to the slightly harder task of wedging the clip back in place while holding the ribbon cable in place. About 2 weeks ago i replaced the battery in the laptop because the current battery had gotten so bad that it would die within minutes if not plugged into power. after swapping the battery i let it sit on the charger for 24 hours and then let it run on battery playing videos until it died.(I had seen that it is recommended to do this with new batteries). So about a week ago i was using my laptop at work, nothing special and all of a sudden it just shuts off. Doesn't blue screen, doesn't show the logo or say it's shutting down in any way, everything just shuts off. When i would hit the power button nothing would happen. (normally the led light strip on the hinge under the screen would turn on at this point as well as the led backlight of the keyboard, then the screen would turn on) Already attempted troubleshooting: After it 'died', I made sure that the power cable was all the way in the poer port on the laptop and that all connections were secure all the way to the wall. the blue led on the side for the battery would come on when i plug in the power cable but nothing else, no change. the next step was holding down the battery reset or disconnect button on the under side of the laptop for 30 seconds, no change. I then took it apart and and disconnected the battery, reassembled(supposedly the power button on the keyboard wont work unless everything has been put back together), and held down the power button for 1 minute, plugged the power cable in and nothing came on, no change. I then left the laptop unplugged from the battery and power outlet for 24 hours, then reconnected the battery and plugged it into power, no change. There was one point when taking apart the laptop to disconnected the battery that i noticed that the ribbon cable for the keyboard had come undone, but after re-securing it and putting the laptop back together it still would not turn on, no change.

Hi everyone! Last year, I started having some trouble with my main PC at the time. It is an Acer Aspire V5-571, a just terrible laptop. At the time, I got a black screen with an error message that said something like "OS Not Found" and that was it. It never launched Windows 10, I could never get in the BIOS and just... nothing. Eventually, it got to the point where the screen was just black even though the keyboard and fans turned on, so I built a PC and forgot all about it. I still have the laptop and due to the quarantine, I have some free time. So can someone with more experience than me please help me out? I tried a bunch of things at the time, but I'm starting from scratch now. To sum up, the keyboard lights up, the fan starts spinning and I get nothing on the screen. The only "physical" thing I did to the PC was remove the HDD, but I have a bunch of flash drives where I can install an OS to start from there. Today I tried turning it on and off again and then I connected it via HDMI to a monitor and I didn't get a signal. Any ideas are more than welcome. Thanks in advance!

Hello, wonder LTT users! Another stupid question today. One of my friends is currently trying to upgrade his graphics devices. (Currently using integrated Intel HD Graphics 4400) Problem is, he bought an Acer computer, and lives a state away. Sigh So, since I can't get any hands-on experience with the computer, I had to do the next best thing... Ask for the model. He has an Acer Aspire XC-705 (LINK) He needs a GPU able to play most modern games at 60fps, 1080p. (Yes, I told him to upgrade the CPU. No, he isn't upgrading it before getting a GPU.) Low Profile 1050 ? Low Profile 1050ti ?

Hello! I got myself a acer aspire 1, (A114-31-C3b7). I'm meaning to use this for school work. The CPU has struggle keeping up opening programs (something i expected from a 260$ laptop) so I was looking for a way to burst the CPU. Before buying the laptop I saw it had the cpu N3350. It has a base clock of 1.1 Ghz and burst speed of 2.4 ghz. I don't think it's running on 2.4 ghz because it's struggling so much to keep normal programs running. Here's what I tried to do: I checked the bios if I had options to force it on 2.4 ghz all the time, I wasn't an option. I have uninstalled and disabled programs that take a lot of CPU usage but it is still a bit behind. Do anyone any tips for how to fix this? -JD

Hello, I have been in the process of upgrading my computer in to a more workable thing, especially for gaming purposes. I started out with this: Pre-built Acer Aspire X3995: i5-3470 quad-core @3.4GHz DIB75L-Lena motherboard 8 GB RAM DDR3 (2×4, Kingston) 1 TB HDD Came with Windows 7 x64 (haven't upgraded and no intention to) Nvidia GeForce 620 As I said, I am in the process of upgrading. I replaced the PSU to a Corsair 450W plus bronze and bought a Zotac Geforce gtx 1050 Ti mini. Also bought a new casing to fit everything in (bought after seeing the Mini-card not even fitting in the slim-case). Transferred all the stuff today including the new GPU and that's where the problems start: * PC Works fine with the old GPU * With the new one, it doesn't boot any further than the BIOS-screen and I can't even access the setup-menu; after about 20 seconds, the pc produces 1 short beep every 15 secs, then after three beeps it shuts itself down * Putting the old card back makes the unit work fine again * I've updated the BIOS to the latest available version (P11.A2 I believe), doesn't work * Resetting the BIOS to factory settings (i.e. manually discarding all made changes in the BIOS menu) didn't work as well What are my options and/or the possibilities? Thanks in advance

Hi guys, a few weeks ago I bought the Acer Aspire VX15 (i5-7300hq, gtx 1050ti 4gb) and I ran into some weird issues when using my headset. The headset is a relatively new HyperX Cloud 2 and I am using it on my laptop (4pin headphone combo jack) without the included external USB-Soundcard. As some friends reported, my volume in Teamspeak changed out of a sudden, but only when playing back sounds (either music or game sounds). So I checked the built in volume-adjustment-tool of teamspeak and also used audacity and everytime a sound is played on my laptop the microphone volume drops. (Also: the louder the sound, the more it reduces the volume) So I took my USB-Soundcard and connected it to my laptop to chekc if the issue was still there, but it was gone. Even after unpluging the USB-Soundcard and using the built in soundcard the issue was gone. Only after restarting the Laptop the problem reocurred. But since I don't want to have to take my USB-Soundcard with me, everytime I want to play something away from my desktop, and I couldn't finde any usefull solutions anywhere, here my question: How do I fix it??? P.S. I already tried to reinstall the realtek drivers, and playing with the Windows sound options. The problem also occures, when using another headet (Oneplus Bullets) and still goes away when plugging in and unplugging the external USB-Soundcard.

My new laptop is not charging when the CPU is under load... I think? When doing normal work on my computer there is not a problem, but as soon as I start up a graphics intensive program such as a video game or Creo, the computer starts to switch from charging to not charging. when it does this it beeps and the screen dims and un-dims. I think that this could be that the charger is not providing enough amps, but it is the charger that came with the laptop. Any suggestions or ideas? it also starts switching when starting a new program. I know that it is not the adapter that is the issue because I do not have to wiggle or move it at all to get it working again. Thanks!

Hi, I have an acer aspire e14 e5-476g-38qz and here are the specs. intel Core i3-7100U Processor 4GB of DDR4 system memory 2GB NVIDIA GeForce MX150 1TB 2.5-inch 5400 RPM i want to upgrade the ram to 8GB, however im worrying about compatibility issues. so i would want to ask these questions 1. would DDR3 RAM work? 2. would DDR3L RAM work? 3. will any DDR4 SODIMM RAM work? 4. what are the considerations i should consider when buying / upgrading the RAM of my laptop? 5. I'm planning to buy this RAM : https://www.lazada.com.ph/products/kingston-valueram-8gb-2400mhz-ddr4-cl17-sodimm-laptop-memory-kvr24s17s88-i161880450-s198062387.html?spm=a2o4l.searchlist.list.2.49cf64b3CMeiyw&search=1 , will this work just fine? 6. is it okay to mix different RAMs? If i would buy the RAM in the link above, will it be okay if I just put it since there are 2 RAM slots, or should I remove the old one and put the new one) THANK YOU

After installing a 256GB micron m.2 SSD my computer actually seems slower.I originally performed a clone using minitool and it went fine but minitool created an esp partition (this did show in the api window prior to clone that showed in My computer and ) which wasn't there before. So I decided to reset this PC to hopefully solve the issue. No luck, something about no recovery environment (so minitool copied the disk but didn't clone it). So now I decided to download dev tools and clean install of windows without any acer apps or other clutter. It works, but there are issues bugging me:• Seems slower• Screen Tear and early after and during updates the screen kept blanking out (stopped now)• Downloads are very slow• Games seemed to look to have more jagged edges, even when I switched to high detail• ACC won't complete m.2 drive check past 60%• Feels offSo my question is, how do I go about properly cloning the m.2 drive. I still have the original so all I need to do is replace it, then properly clone to this drive and if I feel the need, reset this PC (which should work if properly cloned).Any advice or suggestion are welcome, not sure what to do now.

My Acer Aspire laptop won't turn on. Help!
Snook.MP4 posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
So this happened to me before. I took my laptop to school; as i do everyday; and it worked just fine. When i returned home it refused to turn on. I followed the recommended instructions on how to fix the issue to no avail. A couple days later it worked just fine. This happened again a couple days ago. Same exact story, but this time it still won't boot up. A couple things to note: It charges perfectly fine, the charging led works as it normally would. When it started working again the first time round, it didnt boot up from the start, it was as if i had my computer in Sleep mode. The power button is a key on the keyboard rather than a different kind of button. -
Howdy all, bit of a longer post here, but I feel context is necessary. My cousin owns a two year old Acer Aspire AXC230 desktop. An office PC, and the lowest spec machine of the AXC series, its woefully slow. But thats to be expected from a low end PC, you get what you pay for. The PC runs an AMD E1-7010 CPU which after a Google search turned up to be one of the slowest and worst CPU's out there. Considering its for a netbook, I wondered why it was in this desktop in the first place. Anyway, the PC is literally only able to run about 3 Firefox tabs at a time, and is good for spreadsheets, Word editing, etc. Usually, all he does is browse Facebook or eBay. Recently he got into Civ VI and Stardew Valley, and, whilst Stardew runs fine (pixel graphics bro) Civ was laggy as heck on the integrated graphics. I bought him a GT710 to fix this, and now it runs at about 35-40 FPS, which is fine. However, the CPU on the other hand is a different story. While inspecting task manager (just because it runs low end games ok doesnt mean it stopped freezing!), I noticed the CPU was at 99% constantly, whether on the desktop, typing documents or even playing Civ. At first I just thought that it was some background tasks or something, but even after checking then it still doesnt make a lot of sense of why the CPU is running this hard all the time. I thought about an upgrade until I looked into it and realised the CPU was soldered onto the motherboard. Does anyone know why this CPU is throttled when I'm literally on the desktop with no apps running? Thanks guys!

Hi, so ive mostly installed Hackingtosh on several built pcs and laptops that are well known to work with OSX (like dell Laitutudes and ProBooks), recently a friend asked me to install it on his Acer Aspire E5-475 (core i5 7200u (altho sticker says 6200u bios says 7th gen) 8gb ram) and a 120gb drive in wich we will be OSX (laptop has 3 drives), after following the exelent guide on Tonymax86 i created my bootable usbs sticks, but after booting into clover and trying to boot into the mac installer, it only shows the apple and restarts, any insight?

So this started happening like over half a year ago and its still fine (the laptop) but randomly these red dots start flashing and certain shades of white appear as cyan. These dots do randomly go away (sometimes if I just turn off and on my screen) and sometimes they stay for a long time. Should I get a new pc/laptop really soon or will it hold up until around christmas (because thats when I'm gonna get a new pc)? VID_20180721_185741.mp4

The 2 units I'm refering to are these: ASUS X542UN http://www.asianic.com.ph/product/asus-vivobook-15-x542undm097t-intel-core-i5-8th-gen and the ACER E15 http://www.villman.com/Product-Detail/Acer_E5-576G_i5-8250U Both are priced the same. Both have the same processor and gpu. Thoughts?

Looking at an ACER Aspire E5-576G-53S2. You may not find the global site with this model, it's rather regional. Here are the key stats: Intel Core i5-8250U 16GB DDR4 (don't know the frequency, but not like i'm expecting much) 15,6" 1920x1080 IPS LED GeForce MX150 1TB HDD 5400RPM Mostly it's similar to most models of the Aspire 5 type, with some changes. My questions is - am I missing anything with this choice? Please note that in my neck of the woods the selection is not huge, and the prices are high so I am forced to compromise. PS: I might get an 120GB m.2 for the OS.

Dave2D mentioned that his 7th gen Aspire 5 in his review here: that all the NVMe drives he tried in this laptop didn't work, however, I speculate hope that it Optane support is unaffected by this fact as the slot is only keyed in M, which indicates (at least physical) support for PCIe drives. His laptop is also a last generation laptop, so that might make a difference in compatibility. I don't currently own this laptop, however, it is one I plan to purchase in the future and I am just researching and collecting undocumented information on its features. The reason why I didn't ask Acer directly is because on their Amazon listing for the 8th gen model of this laptop they said they only tested up to a 256GB SATA M.2 drive, so I figured I shouldn't bother them with a redundant question. Any brave souls out there willing to spend a little bit of time and money to try and install Optane memory in this particular series of laptops and report back if it works or not? Perhaps a BIOS hack might work in theory.

Hi So I want to upgrade my graphic card for a better gaming experience and I want to do it on an "Acer aspire x1470" computer, so right now I have the default AMD graphic card that came with this computer, and I want to upgrade to a new one that my friend gave me "XFX r7900 series, ghost thermal technology".. I don't know what any of this means so I need your help guys, is there something i need to upgrade before starting to use this graphic card? Or can I just run it right away with no problem? Will I have to format my computer before installing the new graphic card? Will i need a new monitor? Is there anything a newbie like me should be aware of before starting to use this new graphic card?
