2. Hi everyone! Last year, I started having some trouble with my main PC at the time. It is an Acer Aspire V5-571, a just terrible laptop. At the time, I got a black screen with an error message that said something like "OS Not Found" and that was it. It never launched Windows 10, I could never get in the BIOS and just... nothing. Eventually, it got to the point where the screen was just black even though the keyboard and fans turned on, so I built a PC and forgot all about it. I still have the laptop and due to the quarantine, I have some free time. So can someone with more experience than me please help me out? I tried a bunch of things at the time, but I'm starting from scratch now. To sum up, the keyboard lights up, the fan starts spinning and I get nothing on the screen. The only "physical" thing I did to the PC was remove the HDD, but I have a bunch of flash drives where I can install an OS to start from there. Today I tried turning it on and off again and then I connected it via HDMI to a monitor and I didn't get a signal. Any ideas are more than welcome. Thanks in advance!
3. Should i buy acer nitro 5 with GTX 1050 3GB 8GB DDR4 ram I5 9300H 1TB + 128 SSD. OR acer aspire GTX 1050 (not Ti) 4GB 8GB DDR4 ram I7 8750H 1TB HDD. i need it for gaming and studying i want the best in gaming and cooling system the difference in price is 42$ is the I7 hotter? is gtx 3gb worse than 4gb?
4. I need help! How i update BIOS manually when computer wont start. When I try to turn on my laptop I get the power button lightning, but the display is not turning on.Tried: CMOS Battery reset
5. Hi, so ive mostly installed Hackingtosh on several built pcs and laptops that are well known to work with OSX (like dell Laitutudes and ProBooks), recently a friend asked me to install it on his Acer Aspire E5-475 (core i5 7200u (altho sticker says 6200u bios says 7th gen) 8gb ram) and a 120gb drive in wich we will be OSX (laptop has 3 drives), after following the exelent guide on Tonymax86 i created my bootable usbs sticks, but after booting into clover and trying to boot into the mac installer, it only shows the apple and restarts, any insight?
6. The 2 units I'm refering to are these: ASUS X542UN http://www.asianic.com.ph/product/asus-vivobook-15-x542undm097t-intel-core-i5-8th-gen and the ACER E15 http://www.villman.com/Product-Detail/Acer_E5-576G_i5-8250U Both are priced the same. Both have the same processor and gpu. Thoughts?
7. Dave2D mentioned that his 7th gen Aspire 5 in his review here: that all the NVMe drives he tried in this laptop didn't work, however, I speculate hope that it Optane support is unaffected by this fact as the slot is only keyed in M, which indicates (at least physical) support for PCIe drives. His laptop is also a last generation laptop, so that might make a difference in compatibility. I don't currently own this laptop, however, it is one I plan to purchase in the future and I am just researching and collecting undocumented information on its features. The reason why I didn't ask Acer directly is because on their Amazon listing for the 8th gen model of this laptop they said they only tested up to a 256GB SATA M.2 drive, so I figured I shouldn't bother them with a redundant question. Any brave souls out there willing to spend a little bit of time and money to try and install Optane memory in this particular series of laptops and report back if it works or not? Perhaps a BIOS hack might work in theory.
8. My new laptop is not charging when the CPU is under load... I think? When doing normal work on my computer there is not a problem, but as soon as I start up a graphics intensive program such as a video game or Creo, the computer starts to switch from charging to not charging. when it does this it beeps and the screen dims and un-dims. I think that this could be that the charger is not providing enough amps, but it is the charger that came with the laptop. Any suggestions or ideas? it also starts switching when starting a new program. I know that it is not the adapter that is the issue because I do not have to wiggle or move it at all to get it working again. Thanks!
9. So I am having a real hard time here with a friends computer, It seems to crash for him at random times and he said it also doesn't boot into windows, Just a black screen with a cursor.. This is the third time I have had it now and I cannot seem to make it crash or find the problem with it while I have the machine. It's a Acer Aspire AX1300 slimline desktop PC with the following specs: AMD Phenom X4 9650 2.30Ghz CPU, 4GB DDR2 RAM, 250GB SSD (840 EVO), Blueray Writer, GeForce 8200 Onboard Graphics, Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit Service Pack 1. (It did have a ASUS PCI-E GeForce GT210 1GB installed but I removed this to see if it made any difference) I have tried the following so far: Prime95 for multiple hours without issue, Memtest86 for multiple hours & passes without issue, Ran chkdsk and found no issues, Just generally used the system for a few hours and guess what - without any issues! The only thing I can see is that windows is now telling me to "Troubleshoot a problem with your computer's hard disk", Today is the first time it has said this and it hasn't crashed in the last week or two I have had it. I have no idea what exactly it wants me to try though because when I attempt to open the message it just says it was unable to download the solution.. (Yes, The computer was connected to the internet!) No matter what I do I can't seem to make it crash or blue screen for me because I want it to, What I do have this time he has brought it to me though is when I turned it on the first time it booted into windows with a message saying it had recovered from an unexpected shutdown blue screen, I took a screenshot of the message and copied all the dump files to a USB stick, (a XML and DMP file) but I have no idea what to do with them next? Below is all the information it gave me & the XML file, I have no idea how to open the .dmp file though.. 13. Hello! I got myself a acer aspire 1, (A114-31-C3b7). I'm meaning to use this for school work. The CPU has struggle keeping up opening programs (something i expected from a 260$ laptop) so I was looking for a way to burst the CPU. Before buying the laptop I saw it had the cpu N3350. It has a base clock of 1.1 Ghz and burst speed of 2.4 ghz. I don't think it's running on 2.4 ghz because it's struggling so much to keep normal programs running. Here's what I tried to do: I checked the bios if I had options to force it on 2.4 ghz all the time, I wasn't an option. I have uninstalled and disabled programs that take a lot of CPU usage but it is still a bit behind. Do anyone any tips for how to fix this? -JD
14. First off, I have very little knowledge of computer hardware. I dropped my laptop and damaged the hard drive, it is a Acer Aspire 5742. The HD that was in it that broke is a WD Scorpio Blue 650GB. Should I just replace it with another one of the same model or is there a better option? I only ask because this is an older laptop and I figure that since it was made there is some better option for the HD. Thanks for any insight.
15. I recently bought new Acer Aspire 7 and started testing it, as I have several days to return it to seller if there are any issues. Model is A715-72G (i5-8300H and GTX1050, 15.6" version). Problem is that it thermal throttles during stress tests and gaming. I was reading about throttling on the internet and I have found that it can happen in modern mobile devices, but I have no idea how much throttling is too much. Is it normal for this model, or it has cooling problem and I should return it? Here are some stress testing results (every stress test was running for ~10min): Aida64 FPU stress test, no throttling yet: Aida64 CPU and memory stress test: Aida64 CPU + GPUs, CPU clock drops to around 700MHz sometimes: Furmark + Prime95 in blend mode, it's not as bad as in AIDA test, but it's little bit below base clock: Half of an hour of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, high preset 1920x1080, I didn't noticed any lags or anything like that, it was > 40 fps all time: So, is that fine or should I return laptop to seller?
16. Hi, I have an acer aspire e14 e5-476g-38qz and here are the specs. intel Core i3-7100U Processor 4GB of DDR4 system memory 2GB NVIDIA GeForce MX150 1TB 2.5-inch 5400 RPM i want to upgrade the ram to 8GB, however im worrying about compatibility issues. so i would want to ask these questions 1. would DDR3 RAM work? 2. would DDR3L RAM work? 3. will any DDR4 SODIMM RAM work? 4. what are the considerations i should consider when buying / upgrading the RAM of my laptop? 5. I'm planning to buy this RAM : https://www.lazada.com.ph/products/kingston-valueram-8gb-2400mhz-ddr4-cl17-sodimm-laptop-memory-kvr24s17s88-i161880450-s198062387.html?spm=a2o4l.searchlist.list.2.49cf64b3CMeiyw&search=1 , will this work just fine? 6. is it okay to mix different RAMs? If i would buy the RAM in the link above, will it be okay if I just put it since there are 2 RAM slots, or should I remove the old one and put the new one) THANK YOU
17. So this happened to me before. I took my laptop to school; as i do everyday; and it worked just fine. When i returned home it refused to turn on. I followed the recommended instructions on how to fix the issue to no avail. A couple days later it worked just fine. This happened again a couple days ago. Same exact story, but this time it still won't boot up. A couple things to note: It charges perfectly fine, the charging led works as it normally would. When it started working again the first time round, it didnt boot up from the start, it was as if i had my computer in Sleep mode. The power button is a key on the keyboard rather than a different kind of button.
18. so i found the is laptop on amazon Acer Aspire E 15, 15.6" Full HD, 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8250U, Geforce MX150, 8GB RAM Memory, 256GB SSD, E5-576G-5762 and it is only 600 link:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075FLBJV7/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=gaminggizmo-20&camp=1789&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B01LD4MGY4&linkId=5c44adf3aa24c31d9b1c02e8aa06c82e&th=1 question do u guys recommend it or has any one owned it or does anyone have a better laptop for that price
19. 20. I have an Acer aspire V nitro and for some reason my bluetooth has turned itself off and now it doesn't even say my laptop has bluetooth....what do i do?
21. I've recently bought a acer aspire switch 10. its not even a month old, and it's running all the latest software and the latest bios. Few days ago i started to notice problems the bluthooth, it would turn on but not show any devices, even if the devices are switched on and made discoverble, I've tryed phones, speakers and earbuds. I've noticed that the bluetooth and wifi will only work one at a time, I've re installed windows and it solved the problem for a two days and now it's happening all over again. I've noticed when it did work simultaneously, that the internet speeds decrease dramatically, a 140p youtube video wouldn't even stream smoothly. Also sometimes the wifi will just lose connection and any available networks will not show. But this you just need to disable and enable the wireless adapter for it to work again. this usually happens once a day. Can somebody please solve this problem for me.
22. Hello guys i'm thinking of selling my laptop and i really want your advice about the cost i should put it. Specs: The laptop is in excellent condition and i was using it for my work.
23. Hello I am getting this Acer Aspire S3 for $200 in which i can upgrade the HDD to SSD or SHD what do you guys think should i get it. I am going to install Windows 8.1 on it too. Please give me your honest opinion on this it's used but should i get it for that much. I am going to use it for these applications list: IF YOU HAVE ANOTHER ONE RECOMMEND IT TO ME PRICE CAN'T BE OVER £250/$385 List: Photoshop CS6 Office Web designing some other small softwares. Main browser Chrome No gaming as i have a gaming PC and a Console Specs: OS: Preloaded Windows7 Ram: 4GB (can't be upgraded built on board) HDD: 320GB (Can be upgraded to any of the above) CPU: i5 1.6GHZ 2 Core (Almost to 1.6GHZ) I think it 3rd gen supports turbo-boost too.
24. The Acer aspire R7 has been getting its fair share of slack on the internet mainly due to its backwards design keyboard track pad layout. But ive been struggling to find a detailed review of the more impressively spec'd Aspire R7-571G-73538G25ass which has a Intel Core i7 3rd Gen. 3537U (2 GHz) CPU in it with a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M. This model is obviously geared towards a consumer that will be using the laptop for more then just a casual media consumption device, But i really have no idea what sort of performance to expect out of this machine? The idea of having a external gaming mouse running out of this thing while tilting slightly floating over the keyboard in the coined "starship enterprise" mode seems like it might make for a very interesting gaming experience. Ive found this laptop for around £740 second hand online which makes it the cheapest laptop i can find that has a gt 750 or equivalent of graphics card in it although im not very well read on the CPU in mention. Am i being deceived here by the gimmick of the tiltily screen function? and is the low clocked CPU going to bottle neck my GPU to the point where i cant enjoy modern game titles or medium to high settings? Thanks for any help you can offer. For anyone not in the know here's what the R7 looks like:
25. Hey So with my senior year at high school coming to an end and university coming up in a few months, I'm planning to buy a new notebook or ultrabook for school. I've done a bit of research and I've been thinking of getting the Aspire S7-392 or the Dell XPS 12. I'm looking to get some input from some people who are more knowledgeable about notebooks. I'm planning to use the laptop for mostly school work, maybe some light gaming. My budget around $1000 +/- $300. I live in Canada and I'm willing to go down to the states to get the laptop to save some money. Thanks in advance! Edit: Actually, its probably better to stick to Canadian stores and websites for now.
