From the album: My Build, the beginnings
Not much more to say. -
Before I got a new laptop last year I used to use a Toshiba encore write 2 Windows tablet for art. The other day I dug it up and decided it might be nice to have it to sketch on. Unfortunately after booting it up I remembered why I stopped using it. Some art programs, notably paint tool Sai (& Sai 2) have issues with the pen (Sai has no pressure sensitivity, Sai 2 has a really weird lag problem that looks like a you're using a spirograph when you try to do curved lines). After some searching, the biggest solution for these problems was to uninstall/reinstall the pen drivers. Problem is I literally can't find the drivers, Toshiba still has drivers for the tablet but I cant find anything for the pen. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place on their site? If I go ahead and uninstall the drivers will it automatically reinstall some or will I be stuck? Has anyone experienced something like this before? (sorry if this is in the wrong place, wasn't sure if I should put this in programs or tablets)

The last time I made a post here, I was asking for some opinions/advice/suggestions about some tracks to use for my video project & the responses I got were pretty good overall! BTW, thanks for the replies on that topic! But now, I feel like I'm stuck again. As the title states it in a nutshell, I'm wondering if someone here knows of any artists [art creators; not bands] who would be willing to create some custom pieces of art upon request for my YT video project? As of typing out this topic, I've only managed to find 1 artist on Instagram whose art I liked, but he said he doesn't do requests & I honestly don't know of any other art creators off the top of my head whom I could try. But hopefully, that's where you guys can come in handy: you can refer me to anyone if you happen to know of anyone, tag them here in the post, etc. For anyone interested, this is the last post I made here going into some of the details: https://linustechtips.com/topic/1310456-thinking-of-creating-a-sonic-music-compilation-for-youtube-can-anyone-suggestrecommend-some-great-songssoundtracks-updated-03-09-21/?tab=comments#comment-14546770 Hopefully, I've provided a good amount of details. If I haven't & you happen to need more or have any questions you wish to ask me, ask away & I'll answer right back. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help! :)

As I do not have enough $$ yet to upgrade my R5 2600 to a R5 5600X (or maybe even a R7 5800x), I decided in the meantime to "photoshop" a traditional Chinese character version of the zen 3 architecture logo. I feel that this is only appropriate as AMD has for a very long time worked closely with TSMC, a Taiwanese mega-corporation, in manufacturing their CPU dies. In addition, I'm a huge fan of computer microarchs, and as an ABC I'm fascinated by traditional Chinese calligraphy. But as my handwritten Chinese can be best described as "chicken-feet scribble" a.k.a. 鸡爪子 unfortunately, I decided to go the digital route and create this work of art using Gimp instead. Hope you all enjoy my creation; there's zero fees associated with downloading a copy ;).

Budget (including currency): Around $450 or Less. 500 Max. Country: USA Mainland Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Streaming, Multitasking, 6+ Hours of Games, Art Programs (Online ones like DrawPile as well), Google Applications (Multiple open at once). mostly will be used for Streaming Games, Work, and Holding and making a lot of huge Art Image Files, preferably in PNG. Avoiding Cloud Storage. Transferring Files to and from Device quickly. Check Parts List Desc. Other details 16GB RAM is my ideal, but can work with 8GB if it’s sufficient for the minimum and cost effective for later upgrading. 60HZ Refresh Rate minimum, 1080p or Mid-level graphics settings in games. 40 FPS or a little under is minimum. Windows 10 (Pro, Home, doesn’t matter). I will find keyboard later, I already have a Monitor (Samsung M5) and Free blutooth USB connected Mouse. Lag-free display Ps4 + Ps5 Console Games I really want to avoid Offloading of tabs, apps, and programs. I don’t plan on buying all components at once on the same day/week, and will wait over this next year to get the best prices. I’m not worried about having the best of the best, just aiming for manageable. Can add things or change later, since I’m pretty clueless, being this is my first build. Suggestions greatly appreciated, thank you. debating on starting with i3-10100 or i5 10th gen / any cpu that’s at least equivalent to the i3-100 efps https://pcpartpicker.com/user/SmokyOni/saved/W29JnQ

Yotsuba Channel hasn't helped me here, but they did help me set foot in the right direction, so here I am. I'll keep it short, and salty. The Asus PA279CV monitor I ordered has yet to come in stock, and the stock date delay has been moved multiple times, now to near the end of this month, so safe to say I shouldn't be expecting it to come in stock. Same with the other stores. So, I've been considering cancelling the order and getting a different one that actually bothers to be in stock, so I've come to these options. >Keep waiting (insert smoking monky in space) >Get the PA278?V instead >Get a Benq PD2700U instead >Any other equal monitor with qualities listed below (comment that) When looking around for the monitor in the first place, I set some requirements, and then some later. The requirements are: [[1440p and up]], [[27" maximum AND preferred]], [[100x100 VESA mounting]], [[won't exceed max weight of Arctic X1-3d (the mounting I will be using)]], [[not cost me a liver, I'd rather not saddle myself with a payment plan yet]]. The usages are simple: Show nice picture when editing, drawing, animating, modelling, and all other artist stuff, passive second monitor when gaming (As I do, indeed, have gaming monitor), and media consumption when I'm not using my TV. (in short, do art and editing, and watch thing on when I'm not using TV.) If you're thinking of a diffferent monitor already... Nice features such as it not killing my eyes are nice, but otherwise, as long as it fulfills the requirements set above, then it doesn't matter what panel type it is. When calculating price, multiply the dollar, euro or british pound price by 10 to get a rough estimate (NOK) Alternately, if you want to check if it even exists here in Norway as well as exact prices, PriceSpy Norwegian Edition and PriceGuide (Prisjakt and Prisguiden respectively) will be your friends. Don't worry about the specs, it's all modern components. I have horrible indecisiveness when I don't know what I'm doing. Pls, pretty pls.

Hello, I've never been on a site like this, and I barely know how to make a proper post on a forum because people scare me! But I figured I had no choice since I'm an Art major who finally after getting beaten and bruised for wanting to go to school have FINALLY got enough money to build my own PC...that and i'm not too smart on PC Build stuff lol My budget is starting at 500 and I wouldn't mind if it hits close to 700. I'm not sure if thats reasonable budget but I'd appreciate any info you have fam. 1. I live in the U.S where people still like to go outside and shop everything's normal 2. Aim My Aim is for Drawing, Mostly in Clip Art Studio and Blender's 2d drawing software| Music Design in FL Studio | 2D animation in Clip Art Studio| and Medium gaming(I believe the most heavy game I have in my Steam is Tales of Vesperia /Destiny 2/ Trials of Cold Steel. 3. Monitors I don't have a monitor but I am getting a 720 32 inch flat screen tomorrow, if I see a need to get a monitor I might, since I'll surely need accurate colours. 4. Peripherals So I just now found out you have to buy an OS when building a PC...oof. But yes I would need a OS, I have a keyboard and mouse already and if I need speakers then I might invest in some later on, but if there are recommendations I'd appreciate it fam : ) 5. Why are you upgrading? : ) I have a 128GB of storage on this laptop... 6. Please, No Dream Builds The only dream build I have is to have a decent computer : )

Today i was amazed by the progress AI is making. I, on github, recently created a repository to group ai-made wallpapers, (generated by me) and i am classifing them too: https://github.com/davidj2003/AI-generated-wallpapers Some of the images looked as amazing as some of the best human made art, and the fact that was all done by a computer blows my mind. I would suggest you go take a look at them, the space_futuristic section is amazing and it is perfect for a very cool desktop setup. It's free!

My friend is building a new PC setup and I am not sure what monitor to recommend to him. He is mainly focused on Content creation with Animation, Drawing, 3D Design, Music Production and Video Production with Gaming as a secondary focus. He has a budget of around £500 but this is flexible by about £50 up or down. The monitor has to be 4K, and reasonably colour accurate for his creation and a refresh rate of above 60Hz would be nice but in no means a priority. Does anyone have any ideas for a monitor that fits this category. Thanks in advance for any responses.

Budget (including currency): | Currency | US Dollar | Budget |$2k-$4k Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: | Main Objective | Have it last for many years with a lot of use and good care. Little need for upgrades since many pcs now, especially mine, are becoming outdated. (Explained below if curious) | Uses | Art Programs (video editing hobby, visual novel hobby, etc), Large Mod Loads (Minecraft with over 15+ mods for world builds, Sims with folders of added custom made content), General Gaming (playing FF14, Valkyria Chronicals, Monster Hunter, etc), Future Streaming (Streaming art and some gaming with 2D model) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): | Explanation if Curious | I explained in my previous post, but incase for those who didn't see it. My current PC is over 10 years old by this point, it's an all in one touch screen ASUS pc, more so for office use than what I've put it through. My dad is insisting to get me an upgraded pc for everything I need as I use it almost on the daily with what I do; as well give the old one to mom for easier use for her work. This new pc will be used for my art career, hobbies and gaming with friends who live faraway. | Parts List | Don't have one, sadly. | When | I plan to try to hit the sales during the year when they pop up to help get everything for hopefully a lower price. Especially Black Friday. So over the course of the year more than likely. Unless I some how strike gold of luck to find all on sale at once. | Resolution | I do like to play with beautiful graphics, it's just a me thing to immerse into the game and I like doing in-game photography. It also helps for when drawing characters and cosplay to see all the details as needed. I at least ask medium quality or for the highest quality. Having it run smooth is my top priority, because it gets absolutely frustrating if it buffers and ruins the fun. | Additional Request | My dad wants all the information possible, if you can make a few separate lists of builds for the range of $2k-$4k it would help a ton. Espeically one for $2000, then a middle one like $2,500 to $3000 and last one for $4000. We want to compare and have a discussion which is the best option. Any advice involving computers and care maintenance help a ton. Thank you a whole ton, hope this isn't too demanding a request.

Budget (including currency): What I'm trying to find out Country: United Kingdom Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 2D and 3D art Hello! Beginner here. I have decided to start saving to make my own computer for making art with, and I was wondering what goal I should shoot for. My current goal is £2000, is that overboard for what I'm trying to achieve? (I currently have £150 saved up) I don't plan on doing SERIOUS HARDCORE GAMING with this ideal computer, the only reason I'd need a good graphics card is for rendering stuff in Blender or whatever, and I know that the biggest bottleneck in price is usually the graphics card. Thoughts? I appreciate any and all input

Budget (including currency): 15 years old with job + no bills = unlimited over time. CAD Currency. Around $3k CAD for PC and Monitor. Everything else separate. Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Roblox, Minecraft, most FPS games, Streaming, Content Creation, mods, future games he may want to stream, possibly animation and/or drawing with a pad. Other details: - Build help from a IT professional (me). Have not done a consumer PC in a while though! - Upgrading from a sad refurbished office PC with no graphics card. - Prefers things that just work and look great (Hence no water-cooling)! - PC Partpicker list: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/3XdrsL (manually entered prices after tax for purchased items) (Anyone foresee problems with this build? Suggestions? Fans good?) - 1080p at the moment until he buys the LG 27GP850-B 27" (What do ya'll think of it? Better options? Would prefer to spend $350 or less.) - He has his sights set on the Mountain Everest Max keyboard (What do ya'll think of it? Better options?) - Mouse/Headset suggestions? Thinking either Sennheiser with a DAC and mod mic or going Logitech Lightspeed Wireless. Mouse thinking Lightspeed Wireless. - Streaming gear suggestions? Camera, Mic, Mic arm, software, etc - Drawing pad suggestions? Art and/or Animation. Free or paid Courses? - Video editing software suggestions free and paid. Free or paid Courses? - Thoughts on best custom CableMods cable colors and style to match the build and to be able to use any color for RGB - Thoughts on using Signal RGB free in its current state to control all the different RGB? - Best software optimizations to do to both the BIOS and Windows for both security and performance and anything else you consider important? - Thoughts on optimal airflow setup with his case. # of fans and locations? Which ones should be RGB for the best final look? Can we put AL120's on a Noctua D15S? Should we? - We are doing a custom DIY Ikea desk (Would love advice or suggestion on parts that worked well or didn't) - He has his sights set on a Secret Labs chair (What do ya'll think of it? Better options?) - He wants to RGB his room and decorate for streaming (advice needed on affordable options! He wants it to look great to all age categories and be customizable) - Best free software these days to stress test and benchmark the PC to make sure everything is working and up to spec? - Any other advice for him in his build or buying things or choosing software I didn't think of with the goal of a high quality stream, quality video content, customized RGB setup, and art/drawing. The parts were chosen with the plan of upgrading to/overclocking a 5950x in the future, planning for significantly faster internet and larger game sizes with multiple storage options (M.2 coming down in price and/or Large HD cold storage), and upgrading graphics cards as they get more power hungry. He plans to keep using the majority of these parts for 8-10 years only upgrading the CPU, GPU, and adding storage Lots to cover with this post. Don't feel like you have to answer every question if you got no clue! We will be reading all the comments. Thanks to everyone for their help in advance! With the right preparation we hope to have a blast on build day!

Budget (including currency): $2000 Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Blender, Clip Studio, YouTube streaming, Phasmophobia, Grounded, Star Wars: The Old Republic Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Current PC Build: Windows 10 Home Processor: AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor 4.00 GHz RAM: 8GB Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Monitor: Onn. brand 1920 x 1080 60Hz Second monitor: GAOMON Pen Display 2200 1920 x 1080 60Hz I am wanting to upgrade my current PC set up for both gaming and creating digital artwork. I am wanting to create web comics, assets for video games, as well as become a YouTube streamer. I am also wanting to still be able to play games at their best graphics settings if not extremely close to them. For the gaming side I know I will need a better graphics card, processor, and monitor to name a few upgrades needed. For the artwork side of things, I am not sure what I want to look at for an upgrade. The GAOMON Pen Display was recently purchased and will not be getting replaced it is just the PC side that needs upgrading such as the main monitor and tower. When I turn up the DPI settings for my artwork it will lag out my computer very bad to the point it comes close to crashing. Thankfully it hasn't yet but I don't want for that to happen and risk losing what I currently am working on. The game assets I will be making will range from both 2D and 3D graphics both low-poly and high-res style assets. Another area I am unsure on is what is required to post and upload videos onto YouTube. The first videos I will be uploading are going to be web comics but I will be eventually doing streams as well using a avatar to represent myself. I am currently learning how to create and set one up through VROID.

Not sure whether this should go under laptops or tablets but I've heard enough iPad testimonials so maybe I can get some Windows hot takes here. I've been looking to get into digital art, specifically drawing, for a while now but haven't had the money or desk space for a conventional USB drawing tablet. Recently, out of the blue, a family member got me an 11" iPad Pro to use as a note-taking device in classes, unaware that I already bring my regular old laptop to classes and prefer handwritten notes. I'm low on space and said laptop is getting really dated (HP Elitebook G1; I've had it for 5 years but it's a 7 year old model) so before they did that my original plan was to eventually upgrade to something like a Dell XPS 2-in-1 or an HP Spectre; I asked them and they said it was totally cool if I returned the iPad and used the money to get one of those instead. The thing is, I've heard mixed things about the drawing experience on Windows laptops as well as the iPad. Some people said go iPad because Windows pen support is spotty and not typically pressure sensitive. Some people said the iPad isn't pressure sensitive either and that the screen is much too small to draw on. People who have only ever used one of the two platforms tend to give it rave reviews despite what the other side says. I have zero desire to own another device (let alone an Apple product) I need to keep track of, and my old laptop is pretty much fine for my purposes, so what I end up doing comes entirely down to the drawing experience between the two platforms. Does anyone have experience drawing on Windows laptops, the iPad Pro, or preferably both? Windows 2-in-1 crowd, do some Windows laptops have better pen support than others?
