Greetings! 1 of the fans that came with my arc midi r2 is ticking at all RPMs. I'm going to replace all of them, and my hyper 212. Planning on Noctua U14s, and 5 NF-A14s. All set up in this config. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/9kyMkL Any thoughts on improving this? I'm not really a silence freak, I kinda like a low hum. But I cannot deal with ticking. So idk if the noctuas are right for me. Since I've been on this forum for enough years to know who will answer this question... @WoodenMarker.

Hi all, Thanks for taking the time to read my post. Toward the end of October I will be building my Dad a workstation/light gaming PC for his home office setup, but I am torn on what case to use, the S340 from NZXT or the Arc Midi R2 from Fractal. I've heard about the S340 being a bit less fully featured than the R2 (skimping in some areas) but I am really drawn to it's full metal construction and it seems very highly regarded. I will be air cooling (reusing an old 212 Evo) and just want to know which is the better case. The price difference is negligible so that shouldn't really be a deciding factor. Thanks guys!

Hello LTT I'm here to ask for your opinions, once again (lol). I was thinking for a good value case for my upcoming build. First, I picked out Arc Midi R2, and then a C70, then after a week, S340 came out here on our country (PH). I also heard trends coming from the S340 league. So I checked it out, watched Linus review it, watched NCIX review it, watched HardwareCanucks review it. I don't know, it didn't hype me, but here are the things that I disliked about it. The very vulnerable side panel window. No rubber hard drive rubber grommets No intake fans, I'm not overclocking and I don't need AIOs, this is a dealbreaker for me. If I will buy another fan, let's say a Spectre (cheapest here), that would almost cost like the Arc Midi R2 I don't mine the PSU filter from the bottom though Don't get me wrong here guys, I really think the S340 is a really good case, I just want your opinions on whether I should pick the S340 or the Arc Midi R2. If you have other suggestions, my budget would be around $70-$80, Phanteks and and Antec are not available here

Hi everyone, Im building a system and need a great air cooling case. Features I need: Front, Bottom AND Top dust filters possibility to install and AIO 240mm water cooler (I think the h100i) SSD mount on the back (not using any HDDs) Hopefully under $100 Cases I've already looked at 1. Fractal Arc Midi R2 (this is probably the front runner for now, not sure of any issues but it is a little expensive) 2. NZXT Source 530 (no top dust filter) 3. Fractal Arc XL (expensive, and maybe its too big...idk) As you can see i dont have a particular form factor i need. Thanks in advance!

Hello LTT forum! This is one of my first posts here. I am looking for some opinions on some potential mods I have in my for my arc midi r2. I want to create a basement area, but I also want to finish framing the motherboard tray by using another piece of material placed upright. I am split on what materials to use so that I can maintain good airflow, but also achieve an even cleaner look. My options/layout are explained in the attached picture. I also attached a template for others who wish to draw out their ideas. I think it would not make too much sense to have 4 fans in the front of the case blowing in opposite directions. While this is mostly and aesthetic upgrade, I also see it as preparation for installation of a custom hardline loop. I am not sure of what exact parts I will use so the setup is pretty flexible. With both panels installed for the framing of the motherboard tray, I can't imagine cramming a tube reservoir in anywhere. The pump and small reservoir would have to be hidden behind either of the panels. As for storage, I would create a bracket similar to the one Wilvids on OC3D created for his reservoir. Additionally, would it be possible for hardwire a sleep mode button in addition to the stock power button? I know the Sabertooth 990fx R2.0 features a 2 pin header for direct to bios. Any help is appreciated! Thanks! -Matt System specs: AMD FX 8350 2 x 8Gb patriot RAM ASUS GeForce GTX 770 OC Edition ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0

Hi all, I just got a second x61 from a friend who decided to build a custom loop for his rig. I have my CPU X61 mounted in the front position of my Arc Midi R2 in push/pull (necessitated by the internal steel structure of the case), but I did not remove the ODD bay at the top. I would like to leave it in if I can. With the Kraken G10 installed on my R9 290 and the X61 ready to go in the top mounting position, I hit a snag. The rad doesn't fit because it hits the rounded edge of the ODD bay structure (see picture below). I tried to get it to fit in an unorthodox mounting position but that way the motherboard top heatsink and RAM interferes with it. Anyone know how to deal with this aside from removing the ODD bay by drilling out the rivets? Thanks everyone.

I may be building this pc later on and I was just wondering if this build is suited towards the NZXT H440 or the Fractal Design Arc Midi R2. I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong section. I'm looking for a case that has decent airflow and room for a 240mm radiator on the top in push configuration as exhaust under AU$170. I hope this build will last for a long period of time so my components must stay in optimal condition. Any other cases are also open to suggestion and much appreciated. I know the H440 is optimized for silence and arc midi r2 is more suited to airflow, but the H440 looks amazing. I have watched/read some reviews on both cases and the only complaints for the H440 is the lack in ventilation. The Arc Midi R2 seems like a wonderful case but I do prefer the look of the H440. My main question though is between the two cases, will there be much of a difference in temperatures? I will be installing a h100i in the top but will the gpu and other temps see much difference between the two cases? And if so, are these temp differences going to dramatically decrease lifespan of the main components. I'm not an expert at this stuff so I don't know if I'm sounding stupid with this question but any help provided will be much appreciated. (Is there much of a temperature difference of the evga gtx 780 acx cooler between the two cases? If there is, will the difference shorten the life span of the gpu and any other components prone to over heating?) Hello LTT Army, I am still researching cases and the Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 is on the short list of cases I am considering. The case looks nice and has gotten good reviews across the web. For those of you who own this case, I'd like to ask a few questions. How is the overall build quality? Are the fans able to suck in a decent amount of air through those thick dust filters? They look pretty thick in the images I have seen. What fans are you using with yours and how many would you recommend for an air-cooled setup? Is the case loud or quiet? Yes, I understand that this may very due to the type of fans and how many being used. FYI, I will not be over-clocking anything, so water-cooling is out of my plans for now. Also, if you have images/videos of your rig and want to share, that will be great. Thanks in advance, guys! Much appreciated! Other cases I am considering Corsair Vengeance C70 Corsair Air 540 Thermaltake Core V71 I'm sure I've forgotten some.

So I'm gathering money for my near future Hackintosh/Gaming PC but can't decide on a case: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Tyler510/saved/1WwZ I'll explain my reasoning behind the parts below since my choices might seem a bit strange I've had my mind set on the Midi R2 for a while. I recently heard about the H440 and then I ran into this dilemma. Midi R2 Pros: Very clean, elegant aesthetic and has 2 5.25" bays (which I would make use of with a card reader and storage thing for USB drives and SD cards) Cons: None H440 Pros: hidden PSU, very clean, simple look, matches build with green accents Cons: no 5.25 bays (can still get external card reader), seems like the airflow is very restricted Now for my questions: How is airflow in the H440 with stock fans? Are there any cases with PSU covers/hidden PSUs? Could one be easily built (and fitted in the Midi R2)? Reasoning behind parts (if you're curious): CPU: At Microcenter (I have 3 within reasonable driving distance ), all the i5s are with $10 so the 4670K makes most sense even with a B85 board (although I think B85 can be OCed on based on the manufacturer). However, if I can get a price match on this when I am closer to building, I will get the 4430 instead for $99 and either get a better GPU or save it. Mobo: Going for green/black theme. Leaves only the Gigabyte G1.Sniper boards (luckily it's Gigabyte so it's Hackintosh friendly). 5 and M5 are too expensive, Z5S and Z87 have Creative audio and Atheros audio, both problematic with OS X (aforementioned, this will be hackintoshed). B85 has Realtek audio and Intel LAN which is good for OS X. RAM: Green heatsink model of Corsair's Vengeance LP RAM. Typical 2x4GB 1600MHz. Storage: I've got more SSDs and HDDs than what I've listed (got lazy finding exactly what I had). Probably will have 6 in total with 2 SSDs and some 2.5 and 3.5 inch HDDs (SSDs, mass storage HDDs and backup HDDs for W8 and OS X). GPU: On a budget/I don't play very demanding games. Most demanding game I play is Call Of Duty which runs at around 60 FPS on maxed out settings on the 750 Ti. I'd go for an R7 270X or R7 265 to CFX in the future but I'd need a bigger PSU and I got a free Nvidia Shield so 750Ti it is. Will eventually upgrade if I need to. PSU: TigerDirect starts this PSU at $79.99. Instant Savings -> 50.99. When I bought it, MIRs for $10 and $15 -> $25. $25 for an XFX (Seasonic) 550W PSU sounds pretty good to me Got this from /r/BuildAPCSales Case: H440 (Green/Black model) or Arc Midi R2

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone has tried removing the optical bay in a arc midi r2 as well as if anyone has installed an h110 in one of these. Thanks for any responses this my first take at case modding and my first build Thnx!

I'm looking for low noise/good static pressure fans for my rig which has 2 x 240 mm and 2 x 120 mm EK PE series rads. I'm cooling a 4690k (not yet overclocked) and two GTX 570 Superclocked graphics (will upgrade these once there are good 4k options and I can spend more). Everything in a Fractal Arc Midi R2. Obviously I know the Noctua NF-F12s are a favorite but considering I won't likely need very high rpm with 4 rads in the rig, how would Scythe GT AP-13s (or any others for that matter) perform? I also like the white fins but color is a distant second concern.

Hey guys I'm currently planning my first build and have already researched quite a bit. I've already came up with a 4790k cooled by a Cryorig R1 Ultimate and have shot a R9 290 Windforce OC quite cheap on ebay. Whats left is the choice of the case. As these parts get quite hot, the cooler the case keeps them the better. Also Watercooling support doesn't matter to me, as I'll not be changing to watercooling using one oh theses cases. I'm mainly torn between these three, but also open for other opinions. Corsair Air 540 The good: Direct airflow Small volume per chamber -> faster air exchange at the same cfm of the fans Easy cable management Looks pretty cool The bad: No bottom fan mount->no extra GPU airflow Seems to be a bit noisy Only front fan filters Fractal Arc Midi R2 The good: High front panel -> easier accesible, because the case will stand under the table A lot of fan mounts available Solid build quality All around fan filters The bad: Really nothing that would come to my head atm Phanteks Enthoo Pro Pretty similar to the Arc Midi R2

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum here and was hoping to get some further insight on the pc parts I have been choosing for my new rig and if they can be better optimized for the same price or even less. Here's the list! *PS: I am trying to create a full black/blue themed build so if you could limit the suggestions to black/blue colored parts I would really appreciate it! Main Rig: CPU: Intel Core i5-4670k 3.4 GHz Quad Core (Every review and forum that I have read for this cpu has said that it is a great choice for gaming and would be a waste to pay extra for an i7 if you mainly plan on gaming). MoBo: MSI Z87-G55 ATX Motherboard (At first I was between this mobo and the gigabyte GA-Z87-UD3H. I ended up picking this one based on aesthetics alone. I am not very educated when it comes to mobos and their layout so if someone could explain whether this was a good decision or not it would be much appreciated). GPU: Sapphire Radeon R9 280X 3GB (Since AMD announced their new lineup of GPUs I have been glued to this card because of the cost/performance ratio. It costs about the same as a GTX 760 for alot more performance, and performs right along side the 770. Also, with the release of MANTLE I definitely think this card is going to be hard to beat). PSU: Corsair RM 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular (This seems like a great choice because my case is not completely optimized for silence and I have been told, correct me if I am wrong, that the psu is one of the loudest parts in a pc. I also wanted to get somewhat of an overkill psu so it isn't constantly running at full load). Case: Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 Black-Windowed (First off I love the simplistic/elegant look of this case and would be proud to show it off, also I have heard great things about this case [build quality, airflow, fully dust-proof, etc]. Oooo yeah did I mention this case is 55% off right now on newegg!). Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB (I could get this or a caviar black but seeing that I am also getting an ssd I didn't think a black was necessary). Samsung 840 EVO 120GB SSD (These samsung SSDs have been getting a lot of rave for being some of the best out there. I don't know if I should go with the 120gb module or the 250gb, I will most likely only put my operating system on this and some of my most frequently played games [WoW, DOTA 2, Skyrim, etc.] I'm not sure how much memory it will require to store these on there so tell me if you think I will be fine or if I should grab the 250gb one instead). RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3-1600 (Once again I'm not sure if I should get less or more, with new games requiring 6gbs of memory to even play I feel like I should future proof my system and go with 16gbs, but many people have told me that 8gbs is more than enough for gaming. I honestly chose this memory because it's some of the only blue ram I could find that I actually enjoyed looking at, if anyone knows of any other blue ram please link it. Also, should I get the 1600MHz or 2133MHz for gaming?). OD: Asus DRW-24B1ST (I went for a cheap but reliable OD because well.. let's be honest now I'm going to install the OS and never touch this thing again, I might even uninstall it to use some other 5.25" drive). Peripherals, Aftermarket Cooling, and OS: Monitor: Acer H236HLbid (This monitor looks sexy! It's very cost efficient for an IPS panel, I have heard that the bezel is outstanding, and honestly haven't heard many negative things what so ever about this monitor). Keyboard: CM Storm Quickfire Ultimate Cherry MX Blue (Now I have seen and been told that MX blues should not be used for gaming but honestly I don't care, I want that tactile feedback from typing, and I'm sure the difference in response between blue and red is very minimal). Mouse: Logitech G600 MMO Gaming Mouse (I plan to live stream/record WoW and DOTA so it's pretty much essential for me to have one of these bad boys. Also, I have heard that this is much easier and all around better to use than the naga). Headset: Razer Kraken 7.1 Surround Sound (I know some of you will hate me for going with a razer product but honestly from everything I have heard this headset has SIGNIFICANTLY improved on the kraken pro and now has a digital mic of which the quality is very impressive). CPU Cooling: Corsair H100i (Now I am only going to do moderate OCs so this cooler might be a little overkill but it looks significantly better than a colossal heat sink pressed against the side window). Fans: Corsair Air Series SP120 x4 (I have heard that these are some top notch fans [obviously not noctua but those things don't match my build in the slightest] I'm not sure whether I should go with the silence optimized ones or the performance optimized. Seeing that my case isn't silence optimized I might go with the quiet edition of these fans so my build will be somewhat silent). LEDs: NZXT Hue (I love the fact that I will be able to change my case LEDs to anything I want just by twisting a few dials, and this will be much more convenient than a single colored LED brick sticking on the side of my case). OS: Windows 8.1 OEM 64-Bit (Now I might get a lot of hate for choosing windows 8 but honestly I don't care about looks and simplicity if this OS will optimize performance I'm getting it). Full Build and Price (You will need to add an extra $100 for the kraken 7.1s and another $30 for the NZXT Hue) Total Amount: $1779.55

Hey guys! Almost done with my build, I just need to select a case and I'm really having a hard time deciding between the Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 and Corsair Carbide 500R White. I personally like the aspect of the 500R White much more, but my main concerns with it are the lack of a dust filter for the side fan and how many watercooling options there are available for it. If for the dust filter I've found places where I can order a Demciflex one that covers the side fan (hopefully it ships to my country), I do want to keep my options open for watercooling in the future, so I want to be sure the case can support it. On the other hand, the Arc R2 has been praised for the watercooling support and general performances. How do the two compare, performance-wise? I'm talking airflow, wire management, quality of components, watercooling options, features, etc. I'm interested in good airflow and as much dust protection as possible (the space the PC is in gets dusty really fast). Another question, I have been advised that due to the small size of the Arc Midi R2 and the big graphics card I want to stick in (Sapphire Radeon R9 290 OC Tri-X 4GB DDR5 512-bit), if I want to do OC I would be limited to an 180mm cooler. Is this an issue? From my research highly praised i5 coolers like the Noctua NH-D14 only go up to around 160mm. Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks!

I recently abandoned the custom water cooling loop I was going to build (basically an EK everything dual 240 rad loop) because it was going to cost min $500 to set up and I'd rather find a cheaper option so that I could invest the remainder of the money in something else. I really love the aesthetics and 280 mm rad of the Kraken x61 and have basically decided on that AIO for my CPU, as it works very well in my Arc Midi R2 case. My question is: would it be possible to fit a second Kraken x61 in the front of the case so that I could connect it to a g10 on my R9 290? Clearance at the top can be resolved by taking out the 5.25" drive bays if necessary, but clearance on the bottom seems like it could be an issue too.

Hello everyone! I finally decided to watercool my build after using CLC or heatsink for the last couple of years. My first loop! ^_^ Here is my build, my main computer upgraded all the time : CPU: AMD FX-8350 MB: Asus Crosshair-V Formula-Z RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum (2x4gb) GPU: MSI R7950 Twin Frozr III OC (v1) SSD / HDD : 64gb Crucial M4 + 1,5Tb of Caviar Blue PSU: Corsair HX650 (v1) Case: Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 Watercooling (thanks DazMode!): XSPC Raystorm (AMD) XSPC EX240 + EX240 CrossFlow XSPC D5 Tank XSPC 3/8 - 5/8 Black tubbing Feser black fittings (x6) + XSPC Black chrome fitting + Bitspower 90-degree fitting DazMode D5 Vario (Laing D5) Here are much better pictures of the rig, not a lot since I'll be changing all the LED to red and adding a GPU block soon! Here's how the lighting looks like Socket area (Raystorm AMD block); note how that acrylic bracket bends under the pressure  Inside! Everyone (maybe not) favorite fans, the Gentle Typhoon 1850rpm! On my desk! As I said, more is to come as I will install the GPU block (an EK-FC7950 Acetal + Backplate) and switch all the LED (+ Corsair's fan) to red
