I currently have 5g Nokia antenna, but everything I lose the 5G signal I have to restart the PC, I want an antenna that automatically switches to 4G and stays connected. So if I know that this could possibly help me switch provider to one that uses an antenna that is not problematic. An smartphone can switch between signals and stay connected, so I don't see why an antenna can't, this is absurd. My antenna has 4g signal, but shows as no internet on my pc. Only reboot solves it. I've tried to turn off all power saving on network card, but it still happens. I came to the conclusion it's the antenna not an PC issue.

Hey, about to take some stuff out of crappy prebuilt and put it inside a custom PC. Just had a question about the wifi card, though; I just bought an Intel M.2 Wifi6 Kit, which is great, because that frees up a pcie slot on my new mobo. However, my prebuilt comes with an m.2 wifi card, and I was wondering if that could replace my Intel Kit and I could save a buck. However, in the Intel Kit, the card leads to two antennas, while the prebuilt Wifi card is attached to two weird metal pieces screwed in just outside my case (I assume those are just some weird antennas). I guess my question is, if I were to find some place in/on the case to place those metal pieces on, would I be able to use the prebuilt card, or is the card, in some weird way, only usable with the prebuilt PC? Sorry if this post seems out of place, kind new to the forums, and this is the only place I could find that relates to wifi cards. Thanks to anyone who helps.

My ping/internet is usually very good. I can literally see on discord, my ping is usually 15ms. But as soon as I play any game, like league of legends or roblox, my ping becomes extremely bad. Pretty much unplayable. I'm not sure what it is, it might be my adapter. I'm thinking of buying new antennas to see if it will do anything. But any way to fix it without buying anything ?

I have an Alienware 13 R3 with a busted antenna cable (see pic). The male UFL connector is missing, and as such I have unstable and unusable Bluetooth. Before you ask, no I didn't do it and it did not came like this from Dell, I bought it refurbished/used and it was this way from the beginning. I didn't mind all this time, but I've been fixing a lot of things on the laptop and I want to get this over with as well. Also, it is not a software issue, I've tried many things but to no avail. It is certainly a hardware problem. Now I've seen that I can replace the connector, there is a shop nearby selling cables like this for cheap, and I can just remove the connector from the new cable and attach it in the old one. There are videos of this and it is feasible, but hard, and I'll have to do this over the laptop which is not ideal. Replacing the whole antenna is not an option as I would have to do a full disassembly and order a new antenna assembly which who knows how much it'll cost. Also I've seen that Killer network cards are considered kinda crappy, and many people have just bought Intel ones and any problems they had disappeared, even with the main cable alone (wihtout the auxiliary). What do you think? Should I fix the cable or just buy a new card? Also do you think the cable is really the issue, or it is the card again and thus it is up for replacement? Cheers!

Hello guys. I have an relatively old PC, all original parts. I'm going to start updating some hardware for better performance, but I also need to replace the WiFi antenna because of some wires starting to become exposed. I would love to have a LAN connection but the router is to far a way from the room where the PC is so it is not an option. I'm not that a big online gamer, so my internet is for more basic use. My motherboard is a M11AD and it comes with a WiFi card with SMA connectors. Do I need to replace the existent antenna with a similar one with the same connection or will a USB connection antenna work? Thanks!

Hello there So I have a refurbished AW 13 R3 which always had problematic bluetooth, and I didn't think much about it, I just got a BT adapter and called it a day. However, upon closer inspection after some time, I noticed that the auxilliary cable of the network card is unplugged and wrapped in tape, as in it hasn't got the adaptor end. Now I know this is mainly for wifi, but has this cable anything to do with the sucky bluetooth? I would replace the cable without much fuss, but I'd have to do a full laptop dissasemply, which I'd rather not for only this thing. Also if I were to replace the cable, does it really need to follow the same route inside the chassis? I mean if it really is just an antenna maybe I could fit in in another place (somewhere away from the hot parts)?

I believe this should be the correct place for my topic.. Anyways, I bought an Antenna a while ago and I get pretty much get all the channels I care about NBC, CBS, FOX, but the channel I'm missing is the CW. I looked at coverage maps from the fcc and TV fool and I should be able to get it. Also, I was able to see abc (WABC-TV) with no problem before but now the signal stutters. I only moved it a bit so it can be on the window. (The antenna is also hanging upside down, I don't know if that has to with anything) Specs of the antenna

Question, do WiFi 6E cards require special antennas to pick up 6GHz signals? I have an AC wifi card in my PC right now with an after market extended dual band 2.4/5GHz antenna. If I buy one of these, I would like to get the antennas out from behind my PC, so I need to know if the antenna I have now will work with 6GHz. There is a review that says it works with their 6E connection but that’s not very concrete as far as my question goes. Thanks,

Sorry.. I feel like a baby asking this. I've been using PC's for over 20 years but never learned much about wifi, I've just been using it for the last few years without thought. I'm looking to expand with some different options for other PC's.. and need to purchase some antenna and I'm clueless. I'm looking for small ones (6-12cm).. and I'm only seeing 2.4G band and not dual band. However, the PCIe card I've been using smaller ones and has been fine over the years. I get 4/5 bands for 5G and 3/5 bands for 2.4G (which I don't use but it still shows up in the sys tray thing). The router/modem that sends the signal out doesn't even have an external antenna. Do I need a 2.4/5G dual band antenna, for plugging into PCIe (or ngff plugged directly into the motherboard).. or will I be ok with 2.4G antenna? What happens to 5G if I'm using a single band antenna? Is it just a weaker signal? I also read that a single band antenna performs better than dual band hybrid, would I be better off just getting a 5G single band antenna? Do these even exist? Is it possible that the antenna at the back of my PC right now are single band 2.4ghz and I get 5G signal because the newer technology is so much stronger/effecient.. or it is 100% sure that the current antenna I have are dual band? They are 3 X 8cm ones. Thanks to anyone who can help.

So my current wifi adapter is 2.4GHz only and i wanted to upgrade to 5GHz for faster download speed (dont tell me to use lan cable). my current wifi adapter have an anthenna that's detatchable, if i switch the anthenna to the anthenna that does support 5GHz would the 5GHz work on my PC?

I want to setup wifi network i have 2 connection of wifi 250MB and 500MB and distribute wifi between 1000 people in 1KM of range. What type of wifi outdoor antenna i should use? And how to setup this network?
-
Alright, I was thinking about my drone, and how the range is semi-limited and you have to be pointed in the general direction, and so I thought about possible ways of extending it. Wouldn't it be somehow possible to extend the range via some kind of satellite or large antenna? How would someone possibly go about to do this?

Hey guys,I am new here. I am concerned that there may be a hardware problem with my Asus PCE-AC88 WiFi card. I had to disconnect the antenna cables when I needed to replace one of my case fans and heard a popping sound that possibly came from the card. I inspected the WiFi card's ports and antennas and so far everything seems functional. However, if the antenna acts up, I will replace it. My network has a 300 Mbps cable modem, and an AC5300 Nighthawk X8 Tri-Band WiFi Router from Netgear (which has four antennas). My WiFi speed right, now according to WirelessMon's software is between 938 and 987 Mbits. This speed is likely due to the fact that the router is on the second floor of my house while my computer is located in the basement. Asus claims my WiFi card is rated up to 2100 Mbps. I only recently learned that 802.11ac's theoretical max signal strength is around 1300 Mbps. Did I fall for a marketing scheme when I bought this antenna? If so, is the maximum reasonable Mbps that I should look for on an 802.11ac antenna 1300 Mbps? I would appreciate suggestions on PCI-E based 802.11ac WiFi antennas that are capable of handling online gaming scenarios equivalent to Star Wars the Old Republic, World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, and Battlefield, streaming movies in high definition and possibly 4K, and streaming music. Thanks in advance.

For a year long school project a friend and I are trying to build a self counting cornhole board, and through preliminary research it looks like RFID technology is the way to go. However, deciding what antenna to use has been giving us many problems. Looking at the pre-built models out there and how we would be mounting it the board the signals would be going straight up into the air and not very effective at reading the tags in the bags. We know we should be looking at circular polarization as the tags will almost never be in the same spot, but yet again we run into the issue of the signals going straight up into the air. So after a bit more research we found that we could potentially build our own copper wire antennas and place them inside the board, but lack the expertise to make those currently. Because this is a school project we are limited by money so buying a bunch of different things to try isn't really an option. So if anyone out there has experience with this sort of thing and can throw in their two cents, the help would be greatly appreciated. -Grayson

Hey, guys I'm at collage and bought with my friend Internet with 4G+ speed but the signal isn't that good so we're planning on buying a aftermarket antenna. So what kind of antenna would be the best option. Any info will come in handy. Thanks

Does the position of the antennae on your router change how strong the signal is or how effective it is at delivering data? For example, on my router I have to antennae and if I put one of themk vertical and the other one horizontal, would the "performance" change?

I'm having quite the internet situation. My PC is just a few feet away from having a WiFi signal. I just don't know if its a good idea to buy a rp-sma cable to extend the antennas, or just to buy a repeater or power line adapter. Im looking for something that will get me the best internet speed. I don't know if the cable will have huge internet degradation or if its a good idea. I'm currently planning to buy a 30ft long rp-sma cable to extend the antenna directly above my router. Notes: ~router is on first story ~pc is on second story ~distance to area directly above router is roughly 15ft, but im going to put cable against wall so it would take roughly 26-30ft. ~in the area directly above the router, i get 60-70mbps on my phone. This is the first time im doing anything with networking, so anything helps. Thank You. amazing ms-paint drawing below.

Hey, so I want to upgrade the WiFi card from my Asus X556UQ laptop and discovered the following: My WiFi card is a NFGG type However I discovered there's other "sizes" for this same card So my question is, can I use any of those sizes? Thanks!

Recently I had to replace my x99 motherboard due to a USB overcurrent issue preventing me from booting. My new motherboard is used (obviously) and has built in wifi/bt. It has the connectors on the back for the antenna, but when I bought an antenna it was too large to fit the connectors. I didn't realize that the connectors are smaller than ones on a typical router. I have searched for information on what kind of connectors these are on the back of my motherboard, and I can't find anything conclusive. Does anyone know the specific name of the connectors on the motherboard? So my headphone jack broke on my samsung s8+ and i oredered a new part and when it came i replaced the old with the new and everythign worked fine... Until i tried to use mobile data and make a phone call. Whenever i try to use mobile network i cant and i cant call anyone it says no network signal or not registered on network. Ive tried all the software fixes internet can provide to no avail ive tried the manage network and manually doing choossing ee but its not worked. Ive reset the phone cleared cache and 100 other things. I think its a hardware problem but i dont know which hardware needs fixing. I assume its the antenna and not the nfc antenna because wireless charging works fine. I have a samsung S8+ and if anyone knows what i need to buy for it a link to a picture of it or even a website would be PERFECT!!! https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/172950934386 (This is what i think the problem is but if anyone with better knowledge knows the fix please say) Sorry if this is in the wrong chat area thing im new to forums

Hello. This may sound weird ( and maybe dumb, but I know pretty much nothing about wireless networking), but recently i purchased an Asus Rog Strix Z370-E Gaming, and it usually comes with 2.4g and 5g wifi antennas. Thing is, I don't have the antennas (long and meaningless story for the question). My question is, can I buy any kind of antennas that would fit and work on my motherboard, or do I have to look for the ones that came with it? Thank you very much, and sorry for my bad english.

I know that back when wireless networks couldn't penetrate through buildings. People used "horns" on doorways to repeat the RF signal inside. I was wondering if this was possible to make for Bluetooth signals. Maybe something like repeating a Bluetooth signal hidden in glasses to Bluetooth earbuds. Since most earbuds have trouble staying connected when the phone is put in the pocket. Is this possible? Or would I have to wear a tin foil had in order for this to work.

I want to kludge an external antenna to pick up 94.5 FM. Our cabin window’s facing away from the Owen Sound transmitter. What I have on hand (here in the bush)... coaxial cable. ~50 feet. BNC male coupling on one end, make cablevision-type male connector at other end. spools of speaker wire (for Shortwave pickup). duct tape, gorilla tape. rudimentary tools. No soldering iron. I’ll do a google search too; however, I want to see whether my e-community have plans that worked! Thanks in advance, eh.
