Hello, I have the Xiaomi Mi 11 and for some reason I can no longer (for the past month now) take further away photos without it being very blurry when I could flawlessly prior. I could even zoom into a performance in a concert before but that's not even remotely a possibility any more. Close up photos and videos like someone right in front of me is still as good as it ever was. The auto focus on those photos work as it should too. What could I do to try and fix this puzzling issue? Thank you.

Hello, For a long time rooted device user i would like (for different reasons) to switch to non-rooted phone (it will be s10e or mb pixel). But I do not know if alternative solution exists for some functions: Essential: Advanced charging control - enable/disable fast charge (charger agnostic), limit max charge (f.ex to 85%) System-wide adblocker what does not relay on vpn functionality (to run alongside of vpn, if needed) Firewall Desirable: System-wide on-demand file access 3rd party permissions manager app and advanced permission management (in-settings list is limited) Custom gps position for apps (without access to real position) If some of that list can be made in twrp, prior to system boot, it is fine. Does someone have similar experience, found some solutions?

Hello all, I have a moto G53 and whenever I open the Youtube app, all video thumbnails are in colour it's just when I play the videos they go into black and white. It's only the Youtube app which acts like this, other apps such as VLC, YouTube in chrome or google photos all play media in colour. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this, might just be a buggy version of Youtube. So far I've reinstalled the app, cleared storage and cache. Only thing I haven't done is factory reset my phone. If anyone has any ideas on how I could fix it then let me know, cheers.

Hi all, I switched to Outlook mobile, but the problem is it's not loading folders. I have like 20 folders, the app only shows 4-5 and it's not even loading them until I directly go in them and refresh. I tried on different devices, tried to reinstall the app, tried to reset my account, nothing worked. Anyone has any idea? Because at this state it's unusable. Thank you in advance!

Every time I update my phone(mostly security updates), android keeps installing various mobile games such as Bingo Blitz, Royal Match, Solitaire, and Pandora, as seen in the image attached. I believe this is because when my phone was set up(August 2023), the guy setting it up checked all of the boxes to install all of the sponsored apps. Total scumbag move. How would I stop this from happening? I would prefer it if it's a setting, but I would download something form GitHub or something if there are no other options. The screenshot was taken on October 5th, 2023.

Hi all, I live in the UK and use a service called O2 switch up which is part of my phone contract. It enables you to swap to a new phone every 90 days if you want to. I currently have a Samsung S23 which I like but, I want to switch back to iPhone. My dilemma is, you have to take the phone you're swapping into store to be inspected before they give you your new handset. Does anyone know how I can backup the whole of my S23 and then transfer to iPhone once I have the new handset? Normally you would have both phones (if it was just a normal upgrade or new handset) and I would be able to just transfer from old device to the new one. TIA

I connected laptop to TV (with the same HDMI) and TV displayed laptop's screen. I also connected PC to other monitor (same HDMI) and it displays my PC. How can I display PC on my TV?

Because modern Android pissed me off for quite some time, I went back to using Android 7.1 on the HTC ONE M8. It made me realize how great Android used to be until they started ruining Android with Android 9 making call recording nearly impossible. Android 10 then introduced scoped storage which was a royal pain in the ass! Android 12 finally killed Android for good by introducing the PhantomProcessKiller, which makes it impossible to avoid scoped storage by making it impossible to run any Android VMs or do really, anything with your device. That and the fact that the Pixel 7 Pro could not run Yuzu in a vain attempt to make up for all these negative changes made me want to go back to older devices. However, based on advice from @OhioYJ, I rooted my Pixel 7 Pro and installed a Magisk module that disables the terrible PhantomProcessKiller that was introduced into Android 12 without any announcement or warning! It infamously made VM apps made for running older versions of Android completely incompatible (the VMs would run for a few minutes, and then freeze up). It also made Termux users mad as well. Fortunately, with this disabled, I have regained so much functionality already and can already run an Android 4.4 VM with support for Flash! But we are not done. There are still two more things we need to do before my phone will be in fully working order. These are technically optional, as VMs can now run again with no issues, but I would still like to use modern Android with everything that originally made Android great to begin with. The two things I want to address are 32-bit compatibility and scoped storage. While I can now work around these by running an older version of Android inside a VM, I would still prefer to not have to use VMs for these. So what do I do next to make scoped storage history and bring back 32-bit support? With those things fixed, the only thing missing is the ability to run Yuzu, but with this phone's Mali GPU, that is not happening even with root access. However, all of this should make up for my inability to run Yuzu. And thanks @OhioYJ for recommending me to use root access on modern Android to fix its faults!

Hi everyone, I hope y'all fine. Here's the situation: A family member wants to buy one Android box for some movies and series, the problem is that we live in the same house, I work from home so i'm scared that by giving this android box access to our Internet it could lead to problems. This family members really wants this box. I decided to buy a year subscription for a 4G network (yearly) to seperate my Personal and Workstation from the main internet soruce (going to buy it tomorrow). My questions: What happens when you connect the android box to a network? Does these boxes have full access on the computers, phones, everything connected to the infected network? Will my new Internet 4G network be safe if I don't connect that android box on it? Is there a risk? Is there something that I should do before installing that android box? Something to change/update/wipe? I'm really concerned. Thanks

So scoped storage has made /data/media completely obsolete. Originally, it was meant for shared storage all applications could access. However, even when rooted, scoped storage makes it notoriously more difficult to use than it was before. So I came up with a solution. If scoped storage only restricts how you are able to use /data/media, then why not just delete it? Scoped storage doesn't act outside of this directory, so I have basically nothing to lose. /data/media is now useless because of scoped storage, so I am best off just deleting it now. Any alternatives to taking back /data/media? Can I recreate this folder to restore application functionality and not deal with scoped storage again? Or am I just best off downgrading to an older version of Android again?

So basically, scoped storage makes Android much more difficult to use than it was before. /sdcard is now a much more protected directory than /system! How did they screw that up? Am I supposed to just download and store things in /system now? How does that make any sense? I thought protected folders the OS is stored in shouldn't be freely written to, but now it is easier to use that folder than is is /sdcard, which was originally meant to be user-facing storage all apps and the user could freely access! Apparently people are having less trouble with modern Android than I do, so I will need to ask how they make it look so easy. So yeah, I need to defeat scoped storage. So I need a root tutorial on how to use modern Android. Can anyone help me? Do I just look crazy?

My iPhone 6S from 2015 got seven major versions of iOS from iOS 9 to iOS 15, and still, to this day 8 years later, regularly receives security updates from Apple. The same is true for my iPad Air 2. Which Android phones have great long-term software support? I’m asking about phones that has a great track record historically, so Google’s claims about 7 years of updates in the future doesn’t count since Mr. Pichai breaks promises more rapidly than cheeseburgers are consumed at McDonald’s.

Honestly, I remember being pissed at smartphones for so long, and at first it was because of the fact that I thought they should only be a decade behind mid-range gaming laptops, and yet their game library sucks. I now learned something different after forcing myself to daily drive an HTC ONE M8, which I initially bought as a way to justify smartphones having a crap gaming library, and that was to buy a phone that is hardware incapable of any form of modern gaming and being weaker than the Switch, so it would justify me not getting good games. That ultimately wasn't it. I actually found the real reason I hated smartphones, and it was actually because Android 9 and above are the very downfall of Android. You see, back when Android was using the first incarnation of Material Design, now retroactively named Material 1, Android was actually very good. It had everything that other mobile OSes did not have. It had widgets, emulators (to make gaming even possible), customization, file system access, IR blasters (certain devices only), call recording, and I think I missed something. Unfortunately, modern smartphones running Android are now missing everything except emulators, but restricting file system access actually also restricts emulators too, now making Android devices worthless. No wonder people now want to switch from Android. Remember the good old days when people switched to Android? Technically, most of those things are more of a device maker/hardware problem than with Android itself, but still, Android phones are getting worse, and it is clear that the Golden Age of Android is long over. A lot of this all started with Android 9 restricting call recording, making it near impossible. However, while Android sucks now, for the longest time, I actually had a really hard time finding any decent alternative. iOS is still out, because I really, really hate Apple. GameOS on PSP isn't even able to connect to a cellular network, and its successor, whatever the PlayStation Vita's OS is called, only supports 3G, which is now pretty much completely gone from all carriers. Really, my only option was to use old Android. However, there is a problem with that, old Android has a limit to how long it is usable. Currently, I am using Android 7.1 on my HTC ONE M8, but soon, that will not usable as app developers are planning on either going 64-bit-only or require Android 8.0 or later. So I came up with four options for how I can keep using smartphones like everyone else: Screw connectivity, just use old Android no matter how well it is supported! Hell, even use Android 4.0 just as a big middle finger to modern Android. Lose support for so many games and apps, not that I play any online games, so it will mostly be Ren'py games and a few other offline games that do not work. Lots of internet-connected utilities like Google Play Services, Discord, and web browsers will either not work or have problems. Switch to Mobian with Plasma Mobile, a mobile OS that just seems too good to be true, so it naturally basically only supports the OnePlus 6/6T. Other devices it supports use lower-end hardware, so I will basically be forced to use the OnePlus 6/6T. Buy a cellular laptop! Great, how do I even find one? Screw cell phones entirely! I should just convince my family I do not want one or need one. I will do everything on my laptop (or at home on a desktop PC). That is my ultimatum! No more modern Android, I am sick of it! And no iOS! And while we are at it, can I get an exhaustive list of everything normies do on their smartphones?

It is clear that this needs its own thread. I have root access on my Pixel 7 Pro, but I have no way to simply grant legacy filesystem access to certain (or even just all) apps. This is a massive problem. Scoped storage is the worst thing to ever happen to Android, along with the PhantomProcessKiller. Sorry, but document providers and SAF are just not good workarounds, we need legacy filesystem access back! How the hell am I supposed to use my phone without a VM with this crap? Some apps are broken unless run in a VM and others are clearly less functional or at least slower than they were before. This is still a problem and I refuse to deal with it any longer! I will stay on my HTC ONE M8 until someone finds the mythical Magisk module that will let me use my Pixel 7 Pro like normal.

Hi LTT forum! For a while, my new phone is unable to connect via bluetooth to my pc, and its kinda frustrating after 2 years of working. The only things that changed from my old phone to my new one is really only the model number (from a Samsung A52 to a S21), and i say that cuz i used smart switch and every file between my phones have moved over, even my bluetooth connection list. The phones have the same bluetooth technologies and the bluetooth drivers on my pc remained the same, and since i changed my phone, neither of the phones are able to connect, but my headphones (Sumsung buds 2) are able to connect both to my pc and my phone with no problems. Does anybody knows/encountered the same problems? If so pls let me know how you managed to fix it! my bluetooth adapter: (Asus BT-400) Desktop 2023.11.30 - 11.28.02.01.mp4 Screen_Recording_20231130_112632_Settings.mp4

Hi everyone, I am pretty new to the community and not sure if this is the right place to put this. My Pixel 6a started to randomly reboot and get stuck in a boot loop right after the android 14 update. After a couple of tries it would turn on, this repeated thrice and now it does not turn back on. To be clear I did not have a single issue with the phone before the android 14 update. After a lot of hassle their support team picked up the phone for diagnosis. They diagnosed that there is a issue with the motherboard. But I came across the november android security patch which specifically mentions this issue and aims at fixing it, have attached a link and screenshot to it below. https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/242705137/google-pixel-update-november-2023?kgs=f2ffcd4f59636a1e&shem=igass&source=sh/x/gs/m3/5 When I checked with the support team regarding this, they outright denied this and told that a software update cannot brick a phone. Even considering it was a hardware issue I was sold a lemon in the first place. They have given a repair estimate to replace the phone at full cost(360 usd approx.) and I am liable to pay the full price because my phone is a month passed its 1 year limited warranty. I am pretty clueless in what to do now, any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I have a Redmi Note 10 Pro running Android 13/MIUI 14.0.7.0.TKFEUXM Global. I want to root it again (it loses root with each update), but the only 14.0.7.0 Global ROM available at xiaomifirmwareupdater.com is 14.0.7.0.TKFMIXM. There is a 14.0.7.0.TKFEUXM EEA ROM, which I believe is the EU version. Can I extract boot.img from the TKFMIXM variant to root a TKFEUXM ROM? Will that brick the phone because of the different version? Alternatively, could I use the EU version? I don't want to flash the entire ROM, just extract the boot.img file. I appreciate any help.

I'm trying to figure out how to set my phone alarm clock based on my Outlook calendar. My job has variable hours every day, and I usually have to set my alarm clock in the evening based on when my first appointment of the day will be. It takes exactly 50 minutes between waking up and getting to work, so I always set my alarm 1 hour before my first calendar event of the day. It's that action, creating and enabling an alarm based on my Outlook calendar, that I want to automate. I use Tasker for a few automations already, but IFTTT and other automations apps are on the table if Tasker is the wrong app for this. Has anyone done this before? Google isn't showing anything other than turning up Outlook notification volume, which isn't ideal.

Hi guys, I just saw spatial audio option in Sony headphones connect app for my XM5s. I turned it on but don't know how to use it. I'm using Nothing Phone 2 and didn't saw any spatial Audio option in the settings. I tried Spotify, Apple Music, YT, and poweramp but no luck. Is it even possible to experience head tracking using NP2 or windows?

For me it's not about pricing (in the US), obviously it's cheaper to buy new and used devices from the US market (in most cases) however I still import Samsung phones just because they refuse to allow unlocking of the bootloader on North American models (U/U1/W). I see bootloader unlocking FALSELY related to Snapdragon vs Exynos chips however this is not the case, It's easily disproved by the existence of the 0 variants which are both unlockable and use snapdragon SoCs. Same thing with Z devices, all Z devices use Snapdragon SoCs (as of now) and yet some variants (B/N) are unlockable yet U/U1/W are not. I don't really know who to blame here, I would blame Samsung but if they really wanted to stop bootloader unlocking I feel like they would just do it for all regions... So I can only assume it's something to do with carriers, especially because similar stuff happens with Verizon specifically (Verizon Pixel devices are not unlockable yet other devices (even in the US) are...). It's getting harder and harder to find devices I want to upgrade to, I really like Samsung's software (once you remove all the useless garbage) and their hardware is also pretty good but between having to match up LTE (and now 5G) bands to find the 1 model of device that works reasonably on my (US) carrier and having to actually find one for sale at a reasonable price that's either willing to ship internationally or has already imported one it becomes a nightmare. You might say 'well, just don't use Samsung devices' but that's not the argument I'm trying to have. I keep with Samsung because of the great customization to community IF you have an unlockable one. Some stuff does still work and I did daily a US model for a bit but eventually gave up and imported one. I'm surprised there's almost no talk about unlocking bootloaders, how is it that I can pay $1000+ for a device and not unlock it so I can use it how I want??? I happen to actually own 3 variants of the Note9 and it really shows my issues with this kind of stuff: my N960F can run OneUI 5.1 (thanks nobleROM <3) but has god awful coverage/speeds (thanks Carrier Aggregation) in the US making it not useful as a day-to-day device. my N9600 can run (non-OneUI) versions of android up to 13 currently (maybe 14 with GSI images) but because of that lacks voLTE support (which is a WHOLE NOTHER discussion) and certain software that benefits the experience my N960U is stuck on OneUI 2.5 which is slowly losing support... both the N9600 and N960F can run up to date versions of android with little to no issues however because of Samsung's stupid locks the US model cannot. Their locks/proprietary BS is also the reason voLTE doesn't work... I also don't understand the argument that 'it makes sense from a business perspective' should be seen as anything other than greed... Not to mention that 99% of people aren't going to flash custom ROMs on their devices anyway.... I can't imagine it would impact sales of people upgrading their devices to noticeable degree at all. I'm hoping someone brings up bootloaders as part of right to repair movements because not being able to unlock a device that you own is completely ridiculous IMO, I get that 99% of people won't do it but again, they don't have to. No one is forcing you to unlock it & the security argument is total BS. It's not something you can accidentally do nor is it something that isn't super obvious if you're buying a phone (especially Samsung) used. There's a big fuck off warning on every reboot (in fact there's 2 warnings) and the warranty bit is set (which can be checked in recovery mode). This is mostly just a rant about the current state of the phone market but I invite discussion on what people agree/disagree with and talking about your experiences.

Google released an OS update that causes pixel phone users (6, 7, 8, and Fold) that are using multiple profiles (a built in feature) to suddenly lose all access to either their main profile, or their entire phone altogether. Contacting support will only have them walk you through how to factory reset your device, and very rarely are they even acknowledging that this is a known bug. I had this happen to me, and ended up having to factory reset. The bug is still active and reproducible on my Pixel Fold. Steps to reproduce (and walk back from the edge) WARNING: This bug behaves differently for different pixel models, this process worked for me to confirm the bug is still active without locking up my Pixel Fold. I do not guarantee that even on a pixel fold that this process will not cause data loss to your device, so proceed with caution. 1) Verify you're updated to the latest version of Android 14. Turn on multiple profiles. Make a second profile that is NOT the built in "Work" profile. If you don't switch to the second profile at all your phone will continue to behave normally. 2) Switch to the second profile. AFTER THIS STEP DO NOT REBOOT YOUR PHONE UNTIL YOU HAVE FINISHED STEP 4!!! As an added bonus make sure the wallpaper is a different color than your main profile's. 3) Switch back to your main profile and lock/unlock the device, open up things like your photos app that use storage. For me, my UI started going weird. I'd unlock my phone but all the lock screen text would remain. I'd hit the home button to return home but nothing would happen until I lock/unlocked my device. Also maybe 10% of my UI elements would match the colors of my secondary profile's wallpaper, not the primary profile that I was on. IF YOU REBOOT YOUR PHONE AT THIS STEP YOU WILL LIKELY LOSE ALL DATA ON THE DEVICE THAT IS NOT BACKED UP. 4) Delete the new secondary profile that you added and then turn off multiple profiles. The phone will continue to be weird until you reboot but it should come back up normal. There's an article about how Google has told a couple users in support chats that they're "working hard on the issue" but without Google publicly stating anything I'm taking that info with a grain of salt. There are also people saying that this was being reported by Pixel 6 owners before the wider rollout started and that Google ignored the bug reports and rolled it out anyway. Android 14 comes to pixel devices. Personally the advertised new feature list seems a bit, mild. I am still waiting for manual controls for their camera app https://www.theverge.com/2023/10/4/23900207/android-14-update-download-google-pixel

I migrate from long time chrome fanboy to firefox for all my device about 8 month ago, all its been great, all the sync features etc is working, just like chrome. Now the only problem is firefox mobile running on android tablet like Galaxy Tab S series and some android phone that have Desktop mode via HDMI dock, running firefox mobile UI on bigger (and higher DPI display) is kinda sucks, I know its too much to ask, but probably there's way to add features? I know chrome and some other browser have this feature in mobile, but not in firefox. This thread is made on FIrefox Android on Samsung Galaxy S8+ in dex mode

So I just had this random thought in my head. And I'm thinking it wouldn't much help, but, if I can use a ethernet adaptor to typc-c then plug that into my ethernet port on PC, would that potentially stabilize some of the hotspots speeds? Kind of a stupid question, but I'm wondering if it would genuinely help.
