  1. Ryzen System $515?

So i came up with this PC that someone made and it is on sale for $515.92, but i want to have your opinions on this PC (yes this costs $515) CPU : AMD Ryzen 5 1500XMOTHERBOARD : ASROCK AB350M HDVRAM : TEAM ELITE PLUS red 1X8GB 19200(2400Mhz)SSD : PIONEER 120GBVGA : SAPPHIRE RX550 2GB GDDR5PSU : ANTEC NEO CLASSIC 80+ BronzeCase : Cube Gaming Savora +fan I can sell some parts later on so i can change to Asus X370, add 1TB HDD, Give RX 480 and better PSU 1. Budget & Location Indonesia, where it is kinda the typical place where you have high taxes so new parts aren't considered around Rp 10.000.000 / $800 2. Aim Virtualization Machine, and Gaming Machine Simulation Games at 1080p 3. Monitors Samsung FHD Curved TV, will probably get LG 27MP59-G for $260 later on 4. Peripherals Just a G403/402 Mouse and G213 Prodigy Keyboard (#Logitechfanboy) 5. Why i am upgrading? My current System is 1. Core 2 something CPU 2. Asus P5G41T-M LX 3. 350W OEM PSU 4. 1GB DDR3 RAM 5. 160GB HDD (will reuse this since it has an original Windows 7) 6. PixelView GF9400GT I can actually spend less by modding my current motherboard so it can fit a LGA 771 Xeon, but since my demand is Editing and Lightweight Gaming. Also how much do you think the old system can be sold? Thank you Guys
  2. NH-C14S VS NH-U14S

I've tried researching both of the above choices but oddly no one has compared them directly to each other. I did find some testing the NH-U14S & the past gen NH-C14, although I'm sure improvements have been made. I've also asked Noctua & they recommended the NH-U14S, but also acknowledge that the NH-C14S would cool the VRM's better. Although I'm still a little confused as to how a fan blowing through hot fins will cool the also hot board components below with hot air. On Noctua's site I did find one thing that supports their reply but there's no details explaining why. Under their TDP guidelines it ranks the NH-U14S as "95W & OC***". While the NH-C14S is "95W & OC**". More asterisks representing more overclocking headroom. This is the last thread I'll be making related to my cooling upgrade because I'm tired of researching it & should be ready to buy one of the choices soon by the end of this month.
  3. Is it a better option to spend extra for onboard wifi and bluetooth or to jut get adapters getting a am4 board preferably b350
  4. What is the best b350 mobo for a ryzen 3 1200 under $100?
  5. So this is my issue. I brought a Asus B350 Prime plus motherboard back in may and also this RAM from Corsair CORSAIR DESKTOP RAM VENGEANCE LPX SERIES - 16GB (16GBx1) CMK16GX4M1B3000C15. It is a dual rank one and i think the t which they refer in lot of Youtube videos is 2T or something. Problem is the system won't post if i try to overclock the RAM using the XMP profile which happens for a lot of people and i did try overclocking to 2400Mhz, 2666Mhz and finally 2993Mhz along with increasing the voltage to 1.35V and changing the clocks to 15-17-17-35 but still i was not able to post. It works with the default 2133 Mhz with no problem. I found that the RAM is not mentioned in Asus QVL of memory but most variations of the same RAM series are compatible. Even worse is this RAM stick used to be in AM4 ready memory in corsair website and now its not there. (I am sure it was present while i purchased the stick) I am anyway happy with the performance with the default 2133 Mhz but since the RAM supports upto 3000Mhz is there anyway i can get more performance from the RAM?. Thanks in advance. i tried overclocking with Ryzen Master but it doesn't post too! Full system specs CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 (non x version) Motherboard: Asus B350 Prime Plus RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (16x1) Gfx card: Asus Geforce Gtx 750ti Running Latest BIOS 1002 from Asus website Windows 10 creator update
  6. AM4 mounting bracket

So I'm kinda in a bind here. I bought a rajintek 280 triton on impulse, considering I was able to get it at a great price. It however doesn't support the AM4 socket, and seems to be the only cooler they make that doesn't support AM4. I was thinking of buying this:https://www.overclockers.co.uk/raijintek-am4-backplate-hs-029-rt.html however the triton isn't in the supported list. I'd prefer to not have to sell the cooler, though I might have to.
  7. E-ATX mobo cases?

Looking for a cool looking E-ATX Mobo. I've already ruled out the Cooler Master H500P, due to the high price tag and the build quality of a McDonalds toy. Looking for one that goes well with this motherboards colour:
  8. AM4 CPU Cooler Poll

The last option I can't afford yet but if y'all think it's worth the price increase over the previous 2 then I'll go for it. According to Guru3d's tests of the Core Frozr L found here, the only the time NH-D15 (non AM4 version), noticeably out performed it was at stock idle, stock load & OC idle. The moment they OC'd & put a load on it the i7-4790k only showed a 1 degree difference between the 2, I just don't know if that limit of air cooling would apply to my chip.
  9. Hi everyone i'm just throwing this up as hopefully a short and easy to understand guide to p state overclocking on the crosshair vi hero motherboard (AM4/Ryzen). First of all don't be turned away if you don't have the crosshair! Most of this guide features the AMD common bios which should be common across motherboards (it is just up to your board manufacturer which options to make available in their BIOS). Why should you want to do this? Well as you may has noticed if you have overclocked your powerful new ryzen cpu that it no longer downvolts/downclocks when idle . This is because this is a fixed all core overclock. Which while good for performance, it is bad for: the cpu's lifespan, excess heat generation when idle and your electricty bill. A power state or "p state" overclock however will not only enable you to overclock above stock speeds but also step back down when idle (similar to Intel's speedstepping). Crosshair specific info: - This should be working on any BIOS revision later than and including 1002 (which at the time of writing is 1002, 0079, 0081, 0082 and 0083) - Update 0081 and later should be working with custom BCLK values (though i personally haven't tested this yet), 1002 must use default BCLK. As above i'm using the crosshair vi hero motherboard and BIOS revision 0082 but this should be fairly similar across manufacturers: Step 1: Always best to start with a clean slate so head into the bios and hit "load optimised defaults" Step 2: Head to the extreme tweaker screen and check everything is back to default and most importantly that the cpu core ratio is on "auto" Step 3: Head to the advanced tab and open the AMD common bios specification or "AMD CBS" for me Step 4: Next open "Zen Common Options" Step 5: Head down to "Custom Core Pstates" As you can see I left all above options on auto but you might want to force enable "Global C-State Control" Step 6: Accept the terms (this is no more dangerous than a fixed all core overclock so don't worry) Step 7: Pstate0 will be set to auto by default, change this to custom Step 8: Setting Pstate0 to custom reveals 5 boxes, 3 of which can be changed by the user and the top 2 greyed out boxes show the results. It gets a little complicated here because we are using hexadecimals. we are going to try a 3.9GHz overclock in this guide. Change Pstate0 FID to "9C", do not touch DID or VID, DID is the divisor there is no need to change this and VID is the voltage. We could change VID but at the moment anything different from the default VID breaks it and it will boost 100% of the time. (3A on my 1700 - if this is different for you please use YOUR default value NOT mine) I will add a table to calculate your FID values soon TM File is now attached: Ryzen Hex Values.xlsx Note: Voltage is in micro volts so that is 1.187500V and not 1187500V (Take a note of this number btw it will help later for the offset) LEAVE ALL OTHER P STATES ON "Auto" Step 9: Head back to the extreme tweaker tab because we now need to set the voltage offset. Change the CPU Core Voltage to "Offset mode" and positive "+" Now from your manual OC which you have probably dont prior to this you will know what voltage you need to be stable at 3.9GHz, for me this is 1.3375V but its always good to be a little generous when using offset instead of manual so i'm going to allow 1.35V maximum. To calculate your offset voltage take the desired value and subtract the voltage value that you noted down in the previous step. 1.35V - 1.1875V = 0.16250V Note: My RAM speed and RAM voltage have defaulted to 2133 and auto, leave these as they are and redo your RAM overclock once you are happy with what we are focusing on here. Step 10 (Optional): Enter "Extreme Tweaker\External Digi+ Power Control" and give the CPU voltage and SOC voltage some load line calibration to reduce V droop, personally I like level 2. Although this step is entirely optional! Step 11: Boot! Yeah we aren't done yet sorry Change your Power plan to "high performance" (May also work for AMD Ryzen Balanced plan - untested) or "Ryzen Balanced" (now confirmed to be working) and edit the plan -> change advanced power settings -> expand "Processor Power Management" -> expand "Minimum Processor State" -> set this at 20% Change Log: 20/04/17 - Release 20/04/17 - Added Hex Value Calculator 17/05/17 - Minor Text Changes & Confirmation of Ryzen Balanced Plan
  10. *IMPORTANT: Please no Noctua recommendations, I know they're the absolute best but the fans are the absolute ugliest, especially with my color scheme of red & black. I'd also hate myself if I bought a Noctua CPU cooler for the heatsink itself, but swapped out the fans to something that looked better but had worse cooling. So I'm looking for the overall best regarding what I've found below only, unless you know of a different brand entirely for the same price, cooling, noise & ease of mounting. I'm looking to upgrade my MasterCase Pro 3 & Ryzen 5 1500X's cooling, I'm willing to spend around $200.00 USD. Currently my case just has the 2 included 140mm Fans (tried checking specs but no specific name) & as for my chip it's wearing a Wraith Spire. I'm torn between just buying 2 more fans & an aftermarket tower air cooler or replacing all the fans, I can afford either but can't help but feel wasteful somehow. So far I've only found the following highly rated choices for AM4 compatible CPU Air Coolers & case fans. Cooler Master RR-212X, MasterAir Pro 4, MasterAir MA410P RGB, MSI Core Frozr L, MasterAir MA610P RGB & MasterAir Maker 8. 140mm be quiet! SILENTWINGS 3 & Noctua NFP14S. Yes I said no Noctua but these aren't brown, although I've read & watched reviews where the be Quiet's are better all around, I decided to include these particular Noctua's as a consideration anyway. I've already tried finding review comparisons of those CPU coolers between each other but there's nothing. 1: Would those be Quiet! or Noctua fans be a noticeable improvement over my included CoolerMaster ones to justify replacing them all instead of just adding 2? 2: I know the MasterAir Maker 8 is overkill but I don't mind that, my only 2 concerns are if it'd cause my MSI B350M board too much weight stress & if the included dual fans are junk, thoughts? 3: How do all the other $35-50 CoolerMaster models listed above compare to the MSI Core Frozr L or even $70 MA610P? 4: I'd prefer not to have to replace the CPU Cooler fans with a be Quiet or Noctua alternative too but will if anyone feels it'd be a noticeable improvement, thoughts?
  11. Hello guys, i need your help again. As the community standards pointed out that everyone has to write 5 points in the New Builds and Planning section 1. Budget & Location I live in the silly place for computer parts, because they don't think that Xeons are cheap, they think it is so awesome They also give ridiculous pricing for Graphics card! like $480 for RX 580 4GB. The PC Part Picker of Indonesia for used and new parts are : -OLX.co.id -https://www.bukalapak.com/ My budget is around Rp.14.655.443 ($1100). Also the currency is Rupiah (IDR) 2. Aim I am gonna be using my PC for Streaming and Gaming, specifically at 1080p 60Hz and FHD Quality Stream. But my games are gonna be Need for Speed series, Minecraft and Games like Crysis 3 3. Monitors Just a Samsung 1080p Curved 40 inch TV, and is it worth if i exchange for the LG's Largest 4K Monitor 43UD79? I bought the FHD TV For like $446 New when 2015 4. Peripherals I already hunted for Logitech equipments Like G413 keyboard and G403 Mouse. Also a Razer Kraken Pro is bundled with my upcoming PSU 5. Why am i upgrading? I already have a super old PC (LGA 775) and i think i can sell it for $121 (if you want the specs of it tell me) so i can make the PC Price not so Expensive. But what i have listed is this 1. Ryzen 5 1600 : $201.28 Link2. Asus X370-Pro : $193.73 Link3. Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB DDR4-2666 : $93.07 Link4. Sapphire Nitro+ RX 480 8GB : $256.825. Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD : $50.926. Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD : $84.267. Corsair HX650i + Razer Kraken Pro : $120.908. Corsair Carbide 330r : $50.92Total : $1073.85 Well i am gonna use this thing as a light workstation so i can edit school tasks (video), and my friend's content (also Video) But i would like to have 75Hz experience in summary then, is this actually good? let me know in the comment section below and as always thank you
  12. Hello, my setup is Ryzen 7 1800X, Asus X370 prime-pro mother board, radeo rx480 graphics card, 32GB ram and corsair rm650i power supply. I have latest BIOS and my OS is Gentoo linux with latest kernel. My problem is that that my system occasionally hangs. I completely freezes and i have to reboot it. I had the similar peoblem before it started the same, with occasional hangs, than it started to reboot under load. I thought it was bad CPU. I RMA the CPU and i have new one, but now i am thinking if there is some other problem, maybe with mother board. Do you have any ideas?
  13. AM3 to AM4

After 7 long I have finally decided to retire my Phenom II x4 965 BE build in favour of a Ryzen 7 1700. As part of this build I am not going to use all new parts. I am going to reuse the Asus R9 290X, the EVGA 750W Supernova power supply, the CF card reader and the old fans from my old pc. New parts: Phanteks Enthoo Pro M Tempered Glass Ryzen 7 1700 Cryorig H5 Universal RGB DDR4 3466MHZ CL16 (CMR16GX4M2C3466C16) Cryorig AM4 bracket Old parts: Asus DirectCU II AMD R9 290X EVGA Supernova 750G full modular All the new parts ready to be assembled. Prepping the motherboard for the cooler... Inserting this cooler was a breeze.... getting the cabling ready for installation... Setting up the power supply and cabling... Motherboard now in the case... the card goes in next... all the components in and all the cabling connected.
  14. I've won a CPU cooler, and I only have a very old AM2 system thanks to financial issues, and I would also require to replace the RAM to at least DDR3 in case of upgrading (would need eventually, especially as most of my motherboard's USB ports and the LAN no longer work), and I don't really plan to sell it for money, especially as I have bad experiences with stock coolers and their noise levels. Should I get a backplate from somewhere, or just use the zip-tie method?
  15. So the Swedish retailer, Inet has listed a new Asus Strix B350 ITX motherboard, and man does it look interesting. Sadly there have been few AM4 ITX boards on the market so far, so for ITX builders, this could be what they are looking for. What makes this motherboard so interesting, is the peculiar setup above the PCI Express slot. It's a daughterboard containing the soundcard (or some of it), as well as an M.2 slot with cooler, floating above the rest of the motherboard. The board comes in at 1899 Swedish Kronor, which is about 3 US dollars. Wait, about 230$ with 25% VAT. To put that into perspective, the ASUS ROG STRIX Z270I GAMING costs 2090 SEK, which is about 257$. A bit overpriced for a seemingly simple board, but remember the B350 chipset supports overclocking. Some interesting specs: Number of M.2: 2 (So apparently this board has 2 M.2 ports. I wonder if the second is on the back) USB 2.0 (Internal): 2 USB 3.1 (Internal) Gen 1: 2 USB 3.1 (External) Gen 1: 4 USB 3.1 (External) Gen 2: 2 Source: https://www.inet.se/produkt/1901045/asus-rog-strix-b350-i-gaming *Update* Asus has now launched the product page for this motherboard: https://rog.asus.com/articles/maximus-motherboards/bring-ryzen-to-mini-itx-with-rogs-strix-x370-i-and-b350-i-gaming-motherboards/ It shows a very interesting sandwiched M.2 design of 2 M.2 on top of each other: Pretty cool design with double heatsinks for both M.2 drives. But that is not all though. If you think B350 is not enough, Asus decided to make an X370-I mini ITX motherboard too: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-Strix-X370-I-Gaming/ The only issue is that the X370 doesn't really provide any benefits at all. Only difference between the two boards seem to be ESD guards for LAN, audio and USB. Hardly impressive. Another issue is that only one M.2 NVME port is PCIe 3x4. The other one is PCIe 2x4, so it can't max out a Samsung 960 evo for instance: https://www.asus.com/Product-Compare/?products=1ZTbHyB4JfQVklLS,0yXJyjfNoMbcSSQR&b=2 This is the biggest issue with AMD's current chipsets: The lack of PCI lanes. Should be good when new chipsets launch next year for Zen+. Until then, these boards do look really nice.
  16. I need help or an explanation. - have a rizen 1700 and I over clocked it by going to the bios and increasing the cpu frequency to 4.0. -I rebooted my system and it says in the system information that my cpu is at 4.0 but when i go to CPU-Z and core temp its telling me my core speed is 1.55. Is there a difference between increasing the cpu frequency and the core speed? if so how can i increase the core speed?
  17. So I bought the hyper 212 Evo before am4 and I'm trying to find the bracket if someone could show me a link that would be great.
  18. CoolerMaster AM4 upgrade kit

Is the AM4 upgrade kit for CoolerMaster hyper 212x/212 evo/hyper 412/MasterAir pro3/4 compatible with Hyper 212 LED?
  19. AM4 Motherboard Battle: A320 vs B350 vs X370 What are the advantage and disadvantage of these three motherboards? In the end, who's the winner? Nah.. Obviously, you know that. (Just posted things in my mind right now).
  20. Been a while... Eh. I wanted to scratch an itch of not being to build a rig after a year, so here's something for my brother to get come the holidays. It's a $318 usd starter budget build that can beat his old-ass 2007 laptop and can be upgraded further. Well, the A8-9600 was on sale last month so I carpe-diemed and bought one at $65. The lack of Ryzen can be rectified by my brother by obtaining more money on his own to upgrade to a 1600 or to next year's Raven Ridge/Pinnacle Ridge processors. I don't know what he'll be interested in doing that requires more than 4 cores/8 threads, so I leave it to him. Based on Buildzoid's tinkering with the AB350M pro4, the 8 core/16 thread CPUs will be avoided. He may come to the bandwagon, eventually. 2nd, any other confirmations that Samsung M378A5244CB0-CRC DRAMs work with ab350m pro4?? I found 3 CPU-Z Validator links on rigs with Asrock mobos+said RAM, but I'd like more feedback on that. 3rd, considering the Carbide 88r's front panel+small crevices for air intake, would it be ideal to use 120mm lower-rpm fans on the front and then set the high-rpm 120mm fans on top?? On that too, which fan hub would be ideal for 5 case fans?? 4th, I'll warn him that the R7 graphics on the A8 won't handle today's games and can suggest sticking with the old Eidos!Core Tomb Raider games, Fallout 1/2, other old games or easy to run games from Steam. I intend to give this build my EVGA GTX 1060 6GB FTW+ as a birthday present next year while I upgrade to a Nvidia Volta/AMD Navi consumer GPU. 5th, will not let go of the CD drive. My brother has his old Tomb Raider game disks on him and my Windows 10 installation media is a CD. Help if possible, don't help because it doesn't have Ryzen, thanks.
  21. Got some thermal paste on the cpu pins and i'm not able to get it off with only a needle. I've read i can use isopropyl alchol (90%), but i can't find out where that is sold in Norway. I found this: https://www.apotekhjem.no/display.aspx?menuid=259&prodid=46013, Would that work?
  22. Am4 Ram speed issues ?

Hey I'm back here again. After updating my Bios to 902 ( most recent as of writing) my ram speeds are still lower then the box advertising. 2666. Manually changing the speeds in bios causes the PC to not Post. It attempted 3 times and then booted to safe mode and asked to run a set up. ( I can't find helpful information because I'm not looking hard enough) I payed a little extra money for the 2666mhz ram, I want to use that extra speed however minut it may be. 23. AM4 MOBO

Hello there, i'm buying the r5 1600 and i need a mobo for around 100-120$ I was looking at the Asus b350 Strix but i can also get a Asrock x370. What do you think?
  24. This is the USB 3.0 version. Pros: $60-70 Price It works. No major performance or functionality issues at all. BIOS is easy to navigate and updating it via USB Flash is easy. After the update, you can control the motherboard with software. It overclocks fairly well (RAM up to 3000 MHz) with reasonable temperatures. Magnetized holes make mounting screws to it simple. Variety of ports: Ethernet, KB/M, and several USB 2 and 3 ports. Good build quality, for the most part. Cons: Only supports 2 case fans (you will need fan splitters for more) Only supports fan controlling for one chassis fan input No integrated wifi or bluetooth (factor that into the cost) Generic vanilla IO Shield (I don't even use it) Prior to update, literally any adjustment to the OC settings makes the system crash. Video card obscures a lot of necessary pins, making upgrades difficult. Overall, I think this is a good motherboard for people who are on a budget or want to spend their money on other parts. It's a fine board for performance builds. Of course, it only supports 2 RAM sticks, 4 SATA cables and 1 video card, but that's expected for Micro ATX and more than enough for many performance users. The software experience is good (once its updated at least). Is it worth the $60? Yes. None of the cons are significant enough to make me regret this purchase, though perhaps I would've paid a bit more for a board with more controllable fan inputs, wifi/bluetooth integrated and a better IO Shield.
