Hello guys, i've overclocked my 6700k by increasing the ratio from 40 to 46. In windows when i run CPU-Z it shows me that the max ratio is 46 and when i run stress test my CPU is working on 4600 MHz, but in BIOS on the right side panel the numbers are still like the stock ones. I have updated my BIOS to the latest one but didn't get any changes. It's my first overclocking experience and i am a bit confused. Does anyone knows what is this and how to fix it? Is it a big problem or that's how it should be?

Hi to all! just want to ask something. i got an alienware alpha i7 4765T 2.00ghz with 8gb of ram and custom nvidia maxwell gtx gpu with 2gb of gddr5 i saw someone in youtube putting an external gpu with this pc by connecting some wires in the Lan card or wireless card and succesfully using the egpu. i was wondering about the bottleneck of the card because the slot used inside is not meant for graphics card wires or whatsoever. planning to liquid cool this pc and build external gpu with a little budget because im contented with this pc. any suggestions?

As someone who owns the original Cloud's, likes them and after 3 years wore off the leatherette pads I was wondering which headphones I should get next. Right now the price of the Alphas and the Cloud 2 is the same (where I'm from), so I was wondering which ones are better. The Alphas have a detachable cable, the Cloud 2 have a USB soundcard with them that is supposed to give you 7.1 surround. I already have all the accessories that came with my headphones, and I'm kind of dissappointed that the Alphas don't have as many accessories. What do you guys think?

I'm a bit confused to my camera right now (sony a6000) since it doesn't running on its maximum potential. On the spec sheet from sony website said that it will record 60fps on 1080p, but mine will only record at 50fps and 1080i. And the option of all the recording mode it's a bit confusing for me. I don't know if this cam is a different type or something or maybe this is my sd card that couldn't handle that much data. Thanks (the picture shown all of the recording mode of my camera, i don't know which one is the best and i couldn't found any 60fps option)

Hello LTT, While browsing my local craigslists ads I managed to come across a first edition Haswell based i3 alienware alpha for $100, While im not a fan of how overpriced their new stuff is I thought this was too good a deal to pass up for me to run a nice little rocket league/ HTPC while looking decent on my tv stand. However recently my son has been getting into PUBG like crazy lately and has been using the gaming computer more and more often. So I figured If I could maybe upgrade this a little with an i5 or i7( non k) he could play the game on low settings. However, I am aware of the wattage of the PSU is only 130w, Im afraid to put a full desktop grade CPU in there. So i have a couple of questions hopefully someone can answer! Anyone else upgrade there alienware box? Did you undervolt? was it worth it shifting from the i3 to higher or does it just throttle with the cpu cooler? are their larger psus avaliable? did anyone manage to get low profile cooler in? Thanks!

Hello, about 2 weeks ago I have purchased headset Cloud Alpha and connected it to the integrated sound card on the motherboard of my PC (MSI Z370 A-PRO), all properly connected pink to pink / green to green. The problem I have is that I'm not able to hear myself when I'm talking, other people can hear me but what I'm saying is not heard on my headset. If I mark "Listen to the device" I can hear myself but with a delay. Any idea how to resolve it? Thanks.

The Nubia Alpha Wrist Phone with it's flexible display is really pushing the boundaries of what a wearable can be, and although it's a pretty bad time to use now, it certainly has potential. Buy some other smart watch On Amazon: https://geni.us/e1IkC On Newegg: https://geni.us/liBN

Hello everyone, So my new Hyperx cloud alpha's arrived today and even though i thought that it would be as easy as plugging the two audio cables into my motherboard, a window popped up asking me which device i had just plugged in. After i chose headset, it loaded for a bit and redirected me to another window. My problem is that no matter what setting i choose, i hear a weird echo when i play some type of media like a youtube video. For example, when i pause the video, it's audio keeps playing for like a second (there's also a slight static to it). My second problem is that my mic seems to be very low and that i can hear myself through the headset when i turn the volume above a certain point. Thank you guys for your time and i hope there will be someone that knows what could possibly be going wrong. PS. My motherboard is the ASUS z170-a

Hey there y'all! So I'm a video shooter and editor for a small production company in Austria and from a workflow perspective I've been looking for a way to know the final file names of each clip while shooting on my A7III... As far as I know, the Alpha series cameras only give you a number when viewing a clip in the gallery, but that number is not the final file name, rather just an ongoing number that mixes up photo and video files altogether and also just moves around the numbers if you delete anything from in the middle... Does anyone know a way to see the name the file is going to have on the SD card so you could write down which takes were good and bad for the editor? I'm pretty sure you can do that on an Atomos recorder or for Tech God Linus' sake on a Red camera , but I haven't figured out how to see that information on the internal Sony cam recordings yet... Also didn't find any Threads or videos online but maybe I just used the wrong search terms, let me know This is actually my first post on here although I've been watching LTT for over 5 years, so please be patient if there are any rules or something I don't know about and just tell me ^^ Edit: looks like I've indeed already written 2 posts but I can't remember them and one was a giveaway anyways lol Thanks in advance for your help everyone!

So i am thinking about buying HyperX Cloud Alpha headset and was wondering if they are any good as they are claimed to be,does anyone have any experience with them. One of the most important things besides sound for me is comfort,so i need my headphones to be comfortable for longer periods of time.I used to own HyperX Stinger model and had no issues with them, and they felt really good wearing them. So if you could give me your opinion that would really help out.

Hello there, I am soon to buy a Sony Alpha A6000 Mirrorless camera, however, I am just buying the body and I need lenses for it. I am curious whether it is worth buying one of the stock lenses for it or going with a whole host of retro lenses instead. I already have a retro Lens from a Zenit-E SLR camera (The Helios 44-2 58MM prime is the lens I currently have) and will buy a Sony E mount adapter to screw fit m42 lens. I wonder if it is worth buying multiple other retro lenses such as a 30mm prime lens and a 135mm prime lens to go with my current lens. I might even buy a cheap 80-200mm zoom lens on the m42 screw fit as well. Alternatively, I could get one of the stock lenses, this includes the Sony E 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS or the Sony E PZ 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS which would both give me more room to do things in some areas whilst less room to try things out in others. The main reason I ask is that I need this for when I go to Canada (I am from the UK) and I want the best possible lens range I can afford. I probably won't go to Canada again for some time hence why I want to be best equipped as possible. My budget is potentially up to £100 for lenses (I am happy buying used hence the retro part), what do you guys suggest? Also is there any other lenses you recommend instead of the ones I have listed? Thanks, BP.

Does anyone have experience with how much the amount of system RAM effects the performance of Star citizen? My with my current system specs are i7 4770K @ 4.2 GHz, 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 RAM, GTX 1070Ti, driving a 2560x1080 monitor. Playing arena commander or walking around the hanger, I was getting 60fps on max settings no problem. But in the PU it's in the low to mid 20's sometimes as high as 30 but can dip to 15. Has anyone tried different amounts of RAM in the same system and compared the effect, as I have no idea if the performance is the game's fault or my system running out of memory... 8GB has (nearly) always been enough as long as when I play games I don't keep multiple window's worth of tabs open. And I've wanted to get another 8GB for the past year but prices have been so crazy (its twice as expensive as when I bought it in the first place). I was hoping to hold off for another couple of years till my next CPU upgrade, as that would mean switching to DDR4, I didn't want to waste the money on a little extra DDR3 unless I was sure that was going to make SC run better.

I am going to upgrade my logitech g430 for one of those headsets so I was wondering which one is better. I use a laptop which has a combo jack and the headsets have similar prices. Please do not recommend me other headsets as I live in Bulgaria and prices are not the same nor the availability.

Hey all, So I'm focusing in on getting the Clouds but I'm a little bit worried. My only experience with this sort of thing is with the Tritton Pro+ headsets, and I'm worried that the Clouds aren't going to be as good. The Trittons use optical whereas the Clouds are just analogue. Wouldn't this mean that the Trittons are going to sound better? Or do the single drivers of the Clouds make up for it? Should I consider setting up a dac/amp to get the most out of the Clouds? I was thinking the DAC-X6? I mainly use consoles that have optical connections, so just having to change around one cable is useful but not essential. Is the quality going to really be that much of a problem though? A little guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

alienware Discussion for: Alienware Alpha r2/r3
Bendy_BSD posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
I am planning to make a purchasing decision on the alienware alpha (R2 or R3) based upon these variables: 1. Can I deactivate CPU cores in the BIOS options? 2. Can the motherboard itself support virtualization? That's all I need to know. Why do I want to manually deactivate cpu cores? Answer: so that I can assign 8 cores to the host os (ubuntu) and assign 8 cores to the windows vm w/ PCI-E passthrough to the alienware graphics amplifier (eGPU). Why do I want a Vm? Answer: So that I can use the linux os to be my: DNS server, Plex server, Gamestream server (thats IF it supports virtualization) and to be my daily driver computer. Compact and mobile. Please let me know.- 12 replies

Did anyone else get into the alpha? What do you think of it so far? Personally I think there are some balance issues and there needs to be a more fleshed out settings menu (what they have now is poor), but aside from that it's a really fun game.

Hey everyone, I'm currently developing a game and I am looking to get some more people playing. The game is currently an alpha and is being developed very actively by myself and a couple of others. It is just a hobby project so it is free for everyone. The game has most of its core mechanics implemented and really just needs a larger player base to help make the game more enjoyable for everyone! The game is a throwback to the browser MMO strategy games I use to play when I was younger. After getting back into the genre earlier this year by playing Arch Battle, I was left a bit underwhelmed. I wanted something with a bit more depth and a UI that holds up to today’s standards of web design. If this sounds at all interesting to you, i'd love for you to check it out! Head over to www.fleetwars.net and start playing Thanks guys! Heres a description of what the game will be: What is Fleet Wars? Fleet Wars is a browser based massively multiplayer turn based strategy game. The game is primarily text based, but will be packed full of beautiful 3D art and pre-rendered animations. The aim of the game is to rise up the rankings and become the most powerful empire in the universe. You will achieve your ranking by exploring, acquiring new planets and exploiting their resources to grow your population and drive your need to create the most powerful ships with the most advanced technologies. You will research your way through the tech tree to unlock the most powerful weapons and gain the knowledge to build ship classes like Dreadnoughts and the Military Space Stations. Once you have your first fleet, attack an opponent and fight for your place at the top of the leader board. Monetisation Model: Fleet Wars is free to play with nothing locked behind a paywall. The websites monetisation will be primarily driven by non-intrusive ads. In addition to this there will be a subscription model (advanced membership) which will remove the ads from all pages and unlock additional cosmetic customisation options. What the Game Will Include: Fleet Wars will forever be an evolving game. New features will constantly be added and balancing the game will be a top priority. Below is a list of the features that will be included in the initial release of the game. - Expeditions to find new planets - Planet Management - Economy Management - Design your own Ship - Commander leveling - Create a fleet of ships for each Commander - Research Tech Tree - Tech Tree will consist of passive bonuses, new weapons and new ship classes - Guilds - Declare War on other Guilds - Guild Rankings - Attack other players and NPC's - Text summary of how the battle played out - Steal other players Technologies - Raid other players planets - Destroy or steal other players planets

Hey guys I’m in a slight dilemma, I’m using my galaxy alpha since nearly one year now and I’m pretty upset how Samsung handles updates. Android 5 is actually available for some Alpha's but apparently not for all. Here in Germany if you bought a Alpha with o2 or Vodafone branding you already received Android 5. But not if you got a device with Telekom or none branding at all (like me). Now, I want to upgrade my Alpha to 5.0 or 5.1 not only because of some new features and look, but also to fix some security issues (like stagefright). There are two things I want to talk about. First the installation of an official Rom and second an unofficial. Now, the "official" I’m talking about is a Rom that is already available for the Alpha but from a different country (without any branding). See here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G850F/ In particular I was thinking of the French 5.02 Rom released in April 2015. But there are some things I was wondering about: - If I install a Rom from a different country, could I get some issues with stuff like phone calls and mobile data as the device (may?) try to use the French mobile network and not the German one?! (I live close to the French border.) - Do I receive future updates? If yes, from a French vendor?! - What's the deal with the "PDA" and "CSC" number? I've found a similar number in the device info of my Alpha (G850FXXU1BOA2). But that number is not in the list. Even not for a Android 4.4.4 Rom. The unofficial Rom is a Resurrection Remix. See here http://forum.resurrectionremix.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=prtsikt0k4ejnvk508afaejra2&topic=2037.new#new , and here for the xda device thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-alpha/development/rom-resurrectionremix-v5-4-5-t3117915 What do you guys think I should do to get Android 5? There is no official version of cyanogenmod available. I have the feeling Samsung completely skip Android 5 for my device and may go directly to Android 6. I heard rumors that 6 is in development for the A-Series and the Alpha. Thanks

Folks of the wise community that be LTT... I have purchased my 5, and 6 year old kids Alienware Alpha computers. (https://goo.gl/photos/DVmjoYVa6UaRfR7u6) These have been wonderful little devices and handle all the games I can throw at them just fine. Yet one of the compromises of this machine is lack of standard audio jacks. Thus finding headphones that work with it well severely limits the selection. My kids live and breath gaming online with their cousins and each other. Whether it be Minecraft, Gary's Mod, or Team Fortress 2 my kids love being able to group chat/call with the gameplay. So I've been using the Logitech USB comfort headsets. They are cheap say ($20-30) but they are brittle. Kids are rough with things and they work fine until the kids sit on them by accident or pull them off their head aggressively. I'm tired of buying cheap plastic headphones. Looking for something more robust. That can bend and flex with the kids neglect of the headsets. I bought USB Audio Adapter with 3.5mm Speaker/Headphone and Microphone Jacks and tried that approach as well. They USB plug doesn't deal well with the cord being tugged at all, and break really easily. The sound quality is waaaay worse than the other options. I'm willing to re-approach any of these approaches and wouldn't even mind a bluetooth option if the battery life is stellar. Sound quality coming second to durability... please say someone out there has found a decent headset that can fit my needs?
