Like usual, I get bored and crawl the internet for new or goofy tech stuff, and AliExpress never disappoint me in this regards. An RTX A2000 with 8GB of VRAM? What in the hell? Very weird considering RTX A2000 officially only support either 6GB or 12GB config, 8GB configuration is pretty strange, especially how they manage to modify the VBIOS and the utmost important, memory bandwidth allocation, unlike some mods that usually double the capacity by using higher memory banks the likes of RTX 208Ti, 3060 and 3070/3070Ti thats some people has manage to done. What do you think about this another "re-salvaged component - Chinese style " abomination? Adding to my interest is a 6 Pin GPU power connector (see the last picture below), I believe either the Chinese do some "factory shunt mod" (RTX A2000 can be easily shunt-modded and widely practiced among Crypto miners) or just some reassurance to keep stable board power (and maybe they tweak the VBIOS too somehow). It seems that both RAM slots cannot be used at the same time. I tried contacting a few different stores on AliExpress to ask about this - generally the answer that I received was that the “right type of RAM” needs to be used, in order to be able to fill all 8 slots. But when I asked further about what specific type of RAM will be needed, the best response that I received was that it “needs to be ECC RAM”. Since this is what I am already using, and all RAM has been confirmed as working on other systems, I am trying to figure out how to use all of the available RAM slots. I understand that there are different types of ECC RAM (LDIMM, RDIMM, etc.) - so do you think that this is actually the issue (and that some other form of ECC RAM should be used) ? I do know that this issue is not specific to this motherboard. I have tried to do this type of build in the past - and ran into the exact same problem. With that build, I just gave up - and someone else wound up using that computer (with only the RAM slots on top filled). I was never able to get it solved - -
More than a month ago, the Fairphone 5 was released. After Linus his good impression on the Fairphone 4 and his personal investment in "Framework", surely you could expect a Fairphone 5 review from him. But nope, despite all his claims that he is a big fan of sustainability, long software support and repairability, he published videos about Apples new phone, Googles new phone, A laptop on Aliexpress, game consoles with illegal game collections on Aliexpress, a Temu gaming setup, etc... If he is honestly so "invested" in a better future for consumer hardware. Why does he keep creating videos about products form companies that are mostly fishy ( Chinese webshops and their sellers ) or products from companies that already dominate the hardware space ( Apple, Google ) and not actual products that were designed to change the way consumers handle their hardware? He got the phone for free, he claims he likes products like that, but refuses to publish a video on it? The only possible explanation I have is that Framework is working on a smartphone. Or he's simply someone who just tells people what they want to hear.

Hey I am getting some final parts for a computer I am selling. TLDR was just building it for a customer with no GPU and no RGB they now don't have the money go figure. I will now need to just flesh out the computer and sell it on ebay I have found that a Chinese brand called Soyo is selling cards for a much lower price than other western brands. I have seen reviews of their other cards and have been reasonably impressed you think it is worth purchasing? Anyone else buy cards from Soyo? i found this i9 cpu on aliexpress and im so tempted to buy it, what do you guys think about buying CPUs off aliexpress? is there a chance it could be a fake i9 ? So... I just watched today's video and got a little spooked. I was considering buying a cheap mini pc from aliexpress (e.g. like this) for me to experiment on (pfsense, homeassistant, jellyfin, etc). With the context of today's video, the recent LTT hack (and the knowledge that Luke decided to nuke the whole PC because he said it wasn't worth trying to find out if the bios got infected or not), how can I be certain that if I were to buy something like that mini pc, it'd be malware free? Or should I refrain from buying it in favor of a more reputable product from a more known brand? Since I will definitely plug this thing to the internet, I feel like I can't be too careful. -
Today I have received my led magnetic type c cable and I'm just a bit worried now. It is functional and working with fast charging so this isn't something 'cheap' or is it. I bought this on AliExpress which wasn't such a smart idea but had good reviews so I said why not. Overall my total came out to £3.07 GBP equivalent to $3.87. I was charging fine, still is, I felt the plug usb a connector and it was pretty hot felt like 35 degrees Celsius (95 Fahrenheit) not sure didn't have a thermal camera or any of that kind of tech. If this helps in temperature-wise it is just bearable to touch. It has a a metal wall surrounding the circuit underneath data + data - you get it and I'm just worried as I feel like it shouldn't be this hot. However the cable is thin which probably doesn't help aswell. Can I get any suggestions on why and if this is alright to be happening or is there a plan B?

So I'm thinking about changing the thermal paste solution on my ryzen 3600X and was looking for a good thermal paste solution on AliExpress and found this liquid metal thermal paste brand going by the name "LT -100". It Costs 13USD including shipping for a 3g tube. My question is, it is advertising itself to have a wopping 128W/m K of thermal conductivity and I'm not totally sold on its claims as I have my doubts. Even popular liquid metal brands like Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut and Thermalright advertises their products to have about 79W/m K conductivity. Could this be true or is it just false advertising? Can an relatively unknown cheap brand achieve that kind of thermal performance and cost less than the competition? The product has good reviews btw. I recently found out that aliexpress ships to me and I was wondering on some help and feedback. I'm looking for a case to make my pc smaller as a mid tower is taking up unnecessary space. I recently saw a video covering a version of this product: https://www.aliexpress.com/i/3256804336030867.html?gatewayAdapt=4itemAdapt While I'm not married to this brand, this does seem like pretty uniquely good for a non-mission critical media NAS and home server: relatively low wattage and heat output compared to a full desktop CPU with similar core and boost specs, more expandability than similarly priced boards from more well known brands with much more anemic CPUs, and fairly inexpensive for what should be basically a full working system sans RAM and cooling. However, there are the obvious issues of relying on components you buy on AliExpress; drivers (especially as someone who refuses to host servers on Windows)/weird BIOS issues/misrepresented or miscommunicated specs/almost certainly zero warranty seem like an issue. Has anyone used one of these for this sort of workcase? Does anyone have particular brands or items they can recommend? -
I've been trying to find a MSI MAG B550M MORTAR WIFI for under 200 dollars, and it just seems to be impossible in terms of most of the trustworthy sites (Amazon, Newegg, EBay, B&H) however I've found better deals on Aliexpress, however, I've never purchased anything from Aliexpress and I have no idea if it is a trustworthy place to buy electronics or not. Any experiences from you guys that could help me? Much appreciated.
