Need recommendations on portable monitors. Im an Engineer and don't need super color accurate screens ( I have my blue light filter on 24/7 feel free to roast me). I mostly want something that would work well for both on a plane and on a random table or desk. I'm not sure what kind of budget I'm in, but considering the other solution coworker have (see below) is about $500 Id think anything $200 and below would be easily approved. Some of my coworkers have the Xebec TriScreen (LTT did a video on this linked below) I tried a coworkers the other day and couldn't stand it. I am looking at other solutions to request. The one coworker who really liked the Xebec said he used it on a flight. Which I could see being nice since it doesn't require additional tray footprint.

Hey guys not sure if this is the right part of the site to ask about this but I'll be moving soon for college across country and I'll be taking a plane and I need some help and advice with how I should transport my computer. Currently I plan to disassemble most of the parts leaving the chassis pretty much empty and hand carrying my HDD and SSDs with me along with my GPU and Motherboard but I do plan on leaving the CPU in the Motherboard socket but I don't know if that's safe? I didn't wanna bring the CPU box since it's really bulky but if I have to do so to make sure it's safe please do tell. Everything else besides that will be pretty much be put in their original box. Another concern I have right now is they don't have any anti-static bags big enough for my HDD and I was thinking of using paper bags to use as an alternative as that's what I've seen to do online, is that still viable advice or is that misinformation? I was going to order it online but it would take 2 weeks and my flight is in a week so that was poor planning on my part.

So there is a new "carry on luggage ban" that has taken place. http://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2017/3/21/15000424/laptop-ban-us-airports-muslim And unfortunately, I'm in one of those banned airports :(. I was going to buy a small roller bag take my PC to carry on but looks like that won't be happening right now. Here is my partlist: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xG438K Now how do you suggest I take my pc with me on plane? 1) Remove all the components and place them in their original packaging and take them as a carry on (Dont know if individual parts are banned) 2) Remove Gpu/ cpu cooler, put those on original packaging, and hand it over to the TSA to place it inside a "checked baggage" which will eventually go to the luggage compartment. (AKA PC meeting its demise) So what do you guys suggest? Thanks for your time.

While in Orange County this week for a business trip I decided to stop by Micro Center and see if they had any deals that could get me closer to completing my Ryzen build. As it happens, they had a great deal on a 1600 (which includes the wraith stock cooler), some ram from Crucial and a power cable which I snagged for a spare monitor I already own. I'm flying back home in 2 days and I only have one carry-on bag that is already crammed full and my laptop bag which isn't big enough to accommodate the wraith cooler. Does anyone have any tips on how to take PC parts through airport security without losing or damaging anything? I would really like to avoid having to ship them or buy additional luggage since I've already blown my wad this week on the new parts.

I plan to buy a WD Mybook 8TB for ProRess footage. I am flying to Vietnam and I am sure I need to put the HDD into my luggage because my carry on will be full already. Do you have experience with HDDs in luggage? Were they broken afterwards or can HDDs withstand rough handling by handlers if it is packed between clothes?

Hi, did anyone ever try to bring their PCs on an airplane as a carry on? do I need to take off the parts? will it be fine as is? is there any advice you could give? I'm moving to another country for 2 years and want to bring my PC with me. shipping it via UPS will cost me buying a new one. that's why I want to bring it. switching it to a microITX build so I could carry it far better.

I am planning on making a super compact gaming pc in an insanely small itx chassis. Is this a good idea for traveling on a plane in the U.S. or should I just buy a gaming laptop? (the whole pc setup including peripherals, small monitor, and gaming PC itself would be going into a backpack.)

? I'm curious as to how far they plan on taking the realism in this game. Will there be notice to airman reports the player will have to account for? What about runway analysis? You really don't have a real flight plan without it. The way I see it, if they are going to call this a 'simulator', then they might as well go full tilt and make it a true simulator and stop half doing it.

I have two builds that I plan to take to college with me on the 18th. The main build is inside a Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ITX, the other in a Corsair Elite 130. If we assume that I need to take both of the systems, eliminating the suggestion that I just rebuild into one larger system and then deal with moving that, what is the best way to move these across the country? I will be traveling from CA to OH, my flight has one connection in Vegas. Right now it seems best to remove all 'nice' hardware from the cases (and any storage), then pack the builds into their original shipping boxes. Those boxes will then be checked. There is a Microcenter in OH near where I land, so any broken parts can be replaced. Will the TSA be fussy about me carrying 2 CPUs, 2 GPUs, 6 3.5 inch HDDs and 6 2.5 inch SSDs? Should I expect any breaks resulting in the motherboard of the Enthoo build from an H110 GTX? I'm really looking for all suggestions here, and really nothing is off the table. Thank you! Spec lists are as follows in case that matters in how I chooses what to pack: Enthoo Evolv ITX Gigabyte Z97n Wifi i7-4790k Corsair H110 GTX EVGA GTX 980 Ti EVGA 650 GS 2xHDD 4xSSD Corsair Elite 130 Asus H97i Plus i5-4690k Noctua NH L12 Sapphire HD 7950 Corsair CS450m 4xHDD 2xSSD

Hey everyone I just flew from the UK back to my home (12 hour flight) I packed my computer in the box the case came in and duct taped it all up, slapped some fragile stickers on it. I just got back and decided to set up my rig but it turns out it will not power up. I am not sure what the issue could be, I have tried multiple cables, different sockets, pulled out the button cell on the motherboard but still nothing. If anyone has any idea what could be the cause or might have an idea how to fix it please let me know asap. Asus maximus viii hero EVGA 980ti x2 EVGA 800W PSU Corsair H110 GTX

Sources: http://www.tweaktown.com/news/44887/boeing-787-dreamliner-glitch-make-lose-power-faa-reports/index.html http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2015/05/boeings-dreamliner-has-a-bug-that-can-make-it-lose-all-power-mid-air/ Looks like Boeing's plane has encountered yet another problem. If exploding batteries weren't enough, this software bug has been found. In testing labs at Boeing, it has been uncovered that if the aircraft has been left powered on for 248 days, the plane loses all power, mid-flight or not. Fortunately it is highly unlikely that aircraft are left powered on for that long, and the risk will remain hypothetical, but it does exist. The American Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a warning reminding airlines to regularly power off their planes. Quote: "Discovered by Boeing themselves in private testing circumstances (not real flight), this issue can occur if the aircraft is not powered down between trips" Quote: "The bug was revealed by tests by the Boeing laboratory, thank god, and not by some real world accident. " Personally I don't believe this is a huge deal, since airlines should be maintaining their planes (planes must obviously be powered off for maintenance). But obviously a patch couldn't hurt. Unfortunately, however I think this coupled with the number of other issues this plane has has really scarred Boeing's reputation.

I need an mATX case that can fit into a suitcase. it doesn't need to be carry on necessarily just as long as it can fit into a standard size suitcase. I've been looking at the "Bitfenix Prodigy M".

Hey i Have a h440 from nzxt and i was wondering if you all think i could take it as a carry-on? i was also thinking i could take out the graphic cards and the hard drive / ssd as the carry-on and just have the h440 and the mobo + cpu as check in luggage? what do you all think i should do? I'd really rather not ship it because i have heard shipping company losing peoples computers that way.

Hello Guys! This is my first post in LTT. I came here because I have a build in mind, but where I live, there is not much selection of pc parts. I want to use it for gaming, 3d modelling, medium photoshop use, high adobe premiere, low AE, and streaming movies. It doesnt have to be 4k gaming but I would like 1080 or 1440. Here is the build: Cpu: Intel i7 4790 Gpu: Msi 750ti 2gb RAM: Vengeance Corsair 2X4GB HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2X1TB SDD: Kingston 120Gb I left out somethings I wanted to talk about. I am constantly traveling internationally. Plus, if everything goes out well, I should go overseas to study (planning WAY ahead, but its better to be prepared). I need an small, compact case (handles if possible), like the BitFenix itx. The thing is that its itx, so only special pieces can go in, like itx and atx. I left out the motherboard for that reazon. I was going to use the MSI gaming z97. And the cooling. I wanted to go with a water cooler, like the maelstrom 240, or anything really. But I dunno if it will explode midair. I have NO actual tech knowledge whatsoever, just hypothetical. I guess i could unscrew it if needed, but I really need a yes or no answer to go the safe way. And the last issues, budget. Where I live, the charge about 18 percent for tax, and 20 percent for the build (i think, or maybe it is the profit the have ). I think I am not distributing well my funds. My grand total according to the shopowner is 5300 Pen which would be like 1800 Dollars. That is way to much for me. I would like to stay between the 1000-1500 limit. I hope you guys can help FYI: Peripherals will be corsair k30 keyboard, razer tartarus, razer naga hex, Skullcandy Slyr. And my internet is 5m (which i hope to improve further)

Hi! I've found a gaming rig, that is compact and easy to carry, which is good since I travel alot. I know watercooling>air cooling most times, so I was wondering if it was okay to bring an h100i to a plane, and if several flights could affect its performance. Also, whenever I go to the states it is really cold, so if I happen to take the future rig there, would the cooling freeze?

This seems like something that could be very useful for frequent international flyers, with the ability to save information so that the form doesnt have to be filled out every time. This trial is currently only for departures and still requires a customs office to look through the printed version of the card. I could explain everything that came in the box except for something that looked like this. I just found out what it was today and why it exists. Here's a link to good forum discussion on head-fi about why dual prong mono to stereo adapters exist. To sum it up old airplanes used a two cable mono interface for headphones before the universal green stereo one came along latter. There's also some talk about how it was incentive for people not to steal headphones in a time when they were complementary. http://www.head-fi.org/t/666280/why-dont-airplanes-have-standard-stereo-headphone-jacks
