my specs -asus tuf gaming z690-plus -intel i7-12700k -nzxt h5 flow the cooler I recently bought was the cooler master hyper 212 (120 mm) my question is will this be enough to keep the CPU cool non overclocked if not, please recommend air coolers that could fit in my case thank you!

It is easier to tell when an air cooler breaks than when a water cooler pum breaks. On the other hand water coolers seem to do a better job of disapating heat.

I have been researching to build my first PC. I may decide to go with the be quiet! Pure Base 500 with the window side panel. If I do, I will need to purchase just one additional fan, as the case comes with 2 fans already. The two included fans are DC, not PWM. I have heard that they are good quality (Pure Wings 2), and that they are very quiet even at 900 RPM. I don't want to replace these fans, so I'll keep em and get one extra. So here are my questions: should I get a third DC fan to match the first two, or should I get a PWM fan? If I get a PWM, where would be the best place to install it (instead of one of the DC fans)? After buying the Fractal Design Meshify C i never thought switching cases ever again for my main system. Few days ago the Torrent case from Fractal Design was available and i instantly liked it so naturally i had to give it a go! This post will be a combo of showing off my build and give you my thoughts on the case and my experience building in it. Editionally i ran a before and after Temperature test. This includes: Heaven Benchmark 4.0 at 1080p maxed out settings looping for about 10minutes (after 10min the temps were bascially flatlined as you will see in the pictures below). F1 2021, 5 laps of Belgium SPA 1080p (mostly medium graphics settings and FPS unlocked). For the test results check the review below the post/pictures! Part list Intel Core 8700k Nvidia GTX 1080ti Strix with 2x Corsair 120mm airflow fans 11rpm Asus ROG MAXIMUS X HERO EVGA G2 850 Corsair 32GB 2x16 3200mhz Noctua D15 Fractal Design Torrent My review/thoughts will be below the pictures, if you're interested of course! I'll start with some photos i took along the way (Imgur album for more!: https://imgur.com/a/Z3OKoQ3 ) Review Fractal Design Torrent White TG Clear Tint Starting with the exterior of this case, the case has a aggressive look, the front panel has a beautiful grill with a build thinn mesh dust filter. This case comes in many different variants, colors and different tints of glas. I went with the White version and Clear TG. The layout: Unlike 99% of case, the top of the Torrent does not have exhaust fans, this is because the PSU is mounting in the top of the case with easy acces when you remove the top panel. Cooling is centered around the intake at the bottom and front, this case is deffently centered around positive air pressure setup. The case comes with 2x 180mmx38mm fans in the front and 3x 140mm in the bottom, i went with the non RGB fans but this case is also availble with RGB fans. The case comes with a fan hub that supports 9x 4pin fans! The case comes with an extra box that includes two fan brackets, these brackets you can mount in the front of the case if you don't want to use the included 180mm fans. Panels: All of the panels on this case are extremly easy to remove, no need to be scared of braking plastic tabs anymore! the top panel is secured with 2 screws in the back and the panel slides cleanly off. The front panel you can pull of very easy from the top side and this will remove this dust filter at the same time, neat!. The side panels you can simply pull off from the back of the case, each panel includes a tab you can pull on, the panel by default are not secured with screws but there is an option to do so. Build experience: After removing all case panels you are greeted by so much space, everything is easy to get at even with big hands. One thing you will notice right away is the amount of cable tie points, these cable tie points are placed in all the right places. Hardware placement is straight forward and plently of room for a big aircooler as well. The cable management was not hard but not easy either, i think Fractal Design did a good job on the amount of space you get for the cables but you do have to tie the cables down so the side panel fits nicely. As shown in the pictures above you can see that I've mounted the SSD's and the NZXT hue+ unit on the inside using the Reservoir mounts, I don't know if the spacing was intented by Fractal Design but the holes line up perfectly and it fills up the dead space nicely. Cooling: With the big fans the airflow is just crazy, the bottom and front fans are running at 600rpm and the airflow at these low rpms is just stunning, I've never had a case where i can feel the airflow coming out the rear of the case. Without a rear fan mounted you can feel the airflow as if there is a rear fan mounted. I've added a rear fan for the looks but this not needed at all. As i noted before I've ran 2 temperature tests, Heaven loop and F1 2021. The previous case is the Meshify C with Front: 3x Noctua NF-F12 at 900-rpm, Rear 1x Noctua NF-F12 at 900-rpm and 1x top Noctua NF-A14 at 800-rpm. The current case Fractal Design Torrent with Front: 2x Dynamic GP-18 at 600-rpm, Bottom 3x Dynamic GP-14 at 600-rpm and 1x Rear Noctua NF-A14 at 500-rpm GPU fans were at 1100rpm static in both cases. Both tests were at a room temp of 23C, To be clear i've ran both tests 3 times each and the results were the same every time. We saw a 10C drop on the GPU, Not only did we drop 10C on the GPU, it is also boosting higher: before:1936mhz / after:1962mhz in Heaven Benchmark 4.0. Preface: Since I am deciding to gift my girlfriend- who is running a poor ol' laptop with integrated graphics to play games and have a good time- my current rig, I am planning to have my true powerhouse of a PC- my first build. And, hopefully, my only one in a long while. Hence, I am going to choose parts that are powerful, not too expensive, and above all - reliable. This project will start ASAP - under the condition that I have moved out to my own place to live. So I can technically start as early as March 2021. Another consideration is that I am not at all interested in RGB components. I am sorry, they look awesome and kinda evoke the feeling of "THIS BIG BOX OF COLORS HAS A LOT OF POWAH", however, my build is more of a stealthy powerhouse. A black, quiet box purring with an amazing 90 HP. Note: This plan is not the final revision. Changes can be made in the future. Budget (including currency): 2.000€ Country: Austria Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Video editing, Gaming & recording of gameplay, Home-Office, VR Other details: 1080p Gaming, new mouse required, Curret G502 starts to feel nasty - wireless sounds like a good idea. Logitech G Pro X + powerplay is of great interest. MAINBOARD: MSI B550-A Pro If there is one thing I learned about MSI, it is their reliability and robust industrial design. I am well aware of an RGB "gaming" version for 20 bucks-or-so more for a bit of RGB, however I am not really interested. M.2 and reliability are the main two factors I see worth, and this MB excels in exactly that. CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X AMD. My friend and helper. My lover, the friendly nurse that helped me recover from my duo-core nightmare brought forth from the old MacBook I had when I was 12. Especially now where their new lineup of CPUs outperforms Intel's current top-of-the-line processor, it's suffice to say "Time to spend those 413€ on some raw performance". If my pockets say yes and if your recommendations say so too, I might also settle for a Ryzen 9 5900X, however I doubt it because of the next point: COOLING: Stock "Wraith Stealth" I have no complaints with the 600's coolers at all. My brother remembers having used the FX's stock cooler back then, and mom used to complain "Turn down the lawnmower!" - hence the question, why spend extra money on something fancy if it's already purpose built? CPUs with the higher wattage in the Ryzen lineup do not come with a cooler, so an extra purchase would be required. Now you might also ask "Why not go watercooling?" Well, take this comparism. If you wanna go to your local tesco to buy that 4% fish discount, do you wanna go FAST and drive there with a Formula 1 racing car? Or do you wanna take your Ford Focus SE to drive there comfortably, while not quickly? Again. Reliability #1. I do not wish for a pump failure within a year. I know my luck. VIDEO CARD: EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 XC3 BLACK Laugh now while I wait for my queue spot. I'm patient. Can you say the same? PCI-EXTENSION: Exsys EX-1093 PCI Now I do not know about you guys, but there are a LOT of things plugged into my PC. Webcam, mic, peripherals, VR-headset- while the MB is cheap and good and reliable, it lacks in USB slots a little bit. So, I know nothing really about PCI-Extensions, but I believe this 4-slotter will do nicely. STORAGE: Samsung Evo 970 Plus 1TB (Boot); WD BLUE 3TB WD30 (mass) Suffice to say- best bang for the buck in my opinion. Previous build uses the same SSD, I wish to use essentially the same SSD for my new build. However, the "mass" storage has to change. Currently, there is a 1 TB WD-Green HDD from 2015 in the back of my computer. It's so slow, my great grandparents are running faster! (I'm sorry.) Newer hard drives with even greater storage = Even happier gamer. Nuff said. RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3200 I am a bit divided on that one. Currently in my system, there are 32 Gigs of 3K MHz slotted in all 4 slots, but I must say... in terms of Ram- I have no clue whether 16 gigs might also be enough. I could save a few bucks if I use two of my existing ram-sticks and run both my current and my next build in dual channel mode. Or, if I want to go without any comporomises- I go for 32 Gigs of 3200 MHz Vengeance. A bit of advice would be a bit nice. Also, just as a small note: I am an avid Chrome user. POWER: Corsair RMx Series RM1000x Now, I have gotta say- I have no idea what PSU is in my current system. Not even my brother knows, and he supposedly bought it. All I know is that it's rated at 700 watts and it could be a ticking time bomb. It's still running and working alright so... yeah. However I'll need a new PSU for my build, so I'll go and take that modular PSU. Corsair knows what's good for ya. Besides if I am rocking a 3080, I will need those Kilowatt of power. CASE: be quiet! Pure Base 500DX Black Now you might be asking. "This thing has a glass sidepanel! You wanted a stealthy build! Why would you want this bright beast?!" Well I was thinking. If I have nearly 0 RGB components, and the lighting in the case is orange- I go for a distinct aesthetic: Orange streetlights on a road in the dark. Orange is my favorite color as well, so.. yeah. Besides, it's BeQuiet. They suppress noise, and their fans are so quiet! Pun intended. Besides - Three 140 mil. fans, dust filters nearly everywhere, a clean design and ample airflow? Sign me up. Here is my build. It´s a dual system in 1 case based on AMD Zen 3. I considered what ever to go air or watercooling. But in the end desidet to go for air. So it´s all aircooled. So this is my current build and going directly from a X58 system to this.

Just picked up a 7000D to build in and I'm looking for some thoughts on air cooling in this case.. Early days parts list here (PCPP) if you're interested. *FYI (Brown and green in the diagram is the NH-D15 cpu cooler). More than likely going to use Noctua NF-A12x25s or their 140mm fans. I'll also mention that I plan to vertically mount the GPU as there's plenty of space to do it effectively here. Some concerns I had with the above configs were voiced briefly by G.N in this video, basically he states that the fans toward the front will "steal" more of the cool intake air than they exhaust hot air emitted from the tower cooler etc. I'm considering leaving the top partially or fully unpopulated which aesthetically isn't ideal In my previous builds I've always had an AiO exhausting out the top, 2-3 intake in front and one exhaust in the back. This time I'd like to try the NH-D15 (black) which I think looks really slick in an all black build. Again, still in the early planning stages so feel free info dump or suggest a completely different (AiO instead of tower for e.g).

My situation: I am building my first own PC. I choose a really nice case however reviews said that it doesnt have great airflow (MetallicGear Neo Qube). I am thinking about getting an aio water cooler for my cpu (the be quiet! Pure Loop 360mm or 280mm) and want to know about the possibility of changing the fans with RGB fans. These would either be the be quiet! Light WIngs PWM High-Speed, the corsair LL Series or the Lian Li Uni Fan, I still have to decide. (I know about the dimensions having to fit, 3 * 120mm fans for the pure loop 360mm or 2 * 140mm fans for the pure loop 280mm. My questions: Will the rgb work? Will the fans be plugged into somewhere in the aio or in the motherboard? What is the minimum air flow i should have on the fans for them to do their job at the radiator properly? And just to be sure the aio water cooling systems arrive already assembled, right? Is it even worth it? Also what kind of maintenance is there to do? ANY ADVICE, opinions, things to consider, experience is appreciated. I am doing this for the first time and dont want to mess it up. So anything is gladly appreciated

Just a wonderful peice of hardware i found at a local thiftstore

I want to connect Deepcool CF120 fans to the (MPG Z390 Gaming Pro Carbon) or (MPG Z390 Gaming Edge AC), and control them with Mystic light light sync, but i dont know which motherboard RGB header to use. i have budget to buy a converter but i don,t know which to buy if necessary. The fan-header is a 5V A-RGB header called ADD_HEADER. How do i connect them? I have A FH10 for the PWM so they want bother me. I want to build a (quiet) System in the Silverstone SG13 soon. I'm mit shure, that small Top-Blow cooler for the CPU could be as quiet as a 120 AiO, so I'm planning to use an AiO. The question is, If there is enough space on the Drive-Tray to mount a 3,5" HDD If there is a Radiator beneath it? Or do you know a quiet Air cooler, that fits between the CPU and some STX PSU and is not noisy? I want to pit a Ryzen 2600 with 95W TDP in it.

Hey everyone! First time builder here. I recently purchased parts for a new build. The 200r was highly recommended for the quality/price of it. It has 1x120mm fan in the front and 1x120mm fan in the back. I bought 2x120mm Arctic F12 Silent (3pin) to add to my case but I'm not sure where to put them in order to optimize performance. The Corsair 200r has two available spots on top, two available spots on bottom and two available spots on the sidepanel. Also, I have a Cooler Master Hyper212 Evo CPU fan. From my quick research, it seems that a rule of thumb is to fill TOP before BOTTOM or SIDE, so I'm thinking put one on top (Pushing Out) and one on side (Pushing Out)? Also, I'm not sure if this information is necessary but I have 2 cats and lots of carpet so hair will be present... I don't know why I'm sharing that since dust and hair will probably make its way inside my PC but maybe it changes things! I appreciate any help I can get! I'm here to learn! Cheers!

Hi all, I am currently struggling to figure out what cooler would be the best option for a 9900k. I am building in a Lian Li TU150. It can fit almost any air cooler, but I am worried about the installation. I would much rather a smaller air cooler or even a 120mm aio if possible. I want to overclock, but nothing too crazy. As of now I'm thinking these are my main options (I listed them in my preference order, but I just don't know if they can perform well enough): NH-u12s (I would be running NH-u12s with two fans) H80i V2 Extreme BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4 NH-D15 Thanks for your help in advance. Edit: Just for clarification, I understand i9 9900k is not the best cpu right now, but I plan on making a hackintosh, so intel was most reliable option.

I have a i5-9600k and i’m wondering what air cooling i should get. I only want to overclock it to around 4.2 hz because i’ve heard it stutters when at 5. My price range is right at or around 60 dollars. i’m looking at the hyper 212 as my choice at the moment. plz help any input is welcome.

Hi, I'm building quite a beefy pc and I need some advice. The platform's gonna be as follows: Threadripper 3970x on a gigabyte trx40 Aorus MASTER with 128gb of trident z (not rgb) 3600 memory and two Asus rog strix rtx 2080 ti's. From what I've read it seems like aircooling is actually not a bad option for threadripper. I certainly don't want to do any custom loops so the only other option would be an aio but I heard that Enermax trx4 cooler had some gunking up issues and on top of that I had never used any aio's before. So my question is: Should I use an air or a watercooler solution and what specific products could those be? Thanks a lot!

Is the AMD Ryzen 5 3600 stock cooler okay? I am not planning to overclock btw. But overall, is the stock cooler good and should I keep it or should I upgrade to another fan(planning on getting cooler master hyper 212 evo black edition).

Hello! i´m building a pc in the Fractal Design Node 202 case and i was wondering how i should config my fans? INFO: For those who don´t know, the fans are mounted under the GPU giving very little clearance between the (in my case) 12mm slim fans and my Asus rx480 oc Dual (no not 2 GPU´s). it´s about a 5mm clearance. The GPU is an open air style graphics card. Question: Should the fans push air in or pull air out from the case? THANKS!

Is there a way to change the Fan curve/speed of the cooling fans in the Inspiron 7559 or in general for laptops. I'm just wondering this because MSI afterburner reported my CPU temperature getting averaging around 90 degrees C and getting to 100 degrees C (which I thought my laptop would've shut off to prevent overheating damage). Just hoping for any help on this matter Thanks. EDIT: Before anybody asks yes the cooling system is flushed free of dust, I use cans of compressed air to blow any crap out of the cooling fans and heat sinks regularly.

I've been hearing a rattling noise from 2 psu's so far. A Seasonic 550 S12G that went bad and starting to turn off randomly which I guess has nothing to do with the sound with the fan. I put a Corsair CX430M as a temporary replacement and started to hear that sound which is very annoying. (Until I buy a new PSU i'm not gaming. I see in the UPS that the power consumption doesn't go above 100W so I think I'm good for my daily tasks) It might be that the fan is going bad BUT this is what happens: If I tilt the PC case the noise stops! Is that related to a fan going bad? Or just maybe something that is touching the fan. (I have tried to look for something without opening PSU but didn't find anything.) Could it be the placement of the PSU with fan facing bottom the cause?

I have a question. As you can see, i have 2 top mounted 120 mm fans. Question is, is it better to mount the front-most fan as intake? I get it, hot air goes up, but when the fan is oriented as exhaust, i was thinking my cpu cooler is getting deprived by air as it goes to the exhaust front top fan instead. so i mounted it as intake. Also, as the front fans is filtered and push less air, I thought mounting it as exhaust makes my set-up create negative pressure.Any suggestions? i have 3 120 intake fans in the front, 2 120 exhaust in the rear and rear-top plus the in question top 120 fan.

I have a pre built system with generic cpu and case fans, it would be a pretty small thing to replace them, but are noctuas and coolermasters really going to noticably improve temps or will I be shilling out 40-50 dollars for a brand name?

Hi all, so im sitting at the second MacBook with a cooling issue after three years. Replacing the paste is definitely not the issue. I now replaced heat-pipes on two MacBooks and one Packard Bell. So my question is: Why is it that I keep meeting laptops with shitty heat pipes? How do I keep them from dying? Why is there such a huge difference to other heat-pipe based products? (I have some bequiet Dark Rock that don't show much degradation)

I'm putting together my new computer and I'd like to go with a super cheesy black and gold theme. The case frame and a few other bits (video card cover, motherboard shield thingy, etc) are going to hopefully be spray-chromed gold but I'm hesitant to do the same with the air cooler heat sink (an NH-D15S) because this particular spray-chrome process (there are a few) essentially involves some layers of paint. I know most people are going to say that getting the cooler itself gold-electroplated sounds ridiculous and is probably not a GOOD idea; I'm not going to dispute that. I just want to know if anyone thinks it's a horrible idea; are there better, safer alternatives? Gold has pretty decent thermal conduction, but would the electroplating process itself cause any unwanted thermal insulating factors? Additional thoughts?
