Is anyone else rocking a retro PC and using it for modern day to day driving with modern software? For fun, a while back I decided to put together a machine using the newest of the old time parts, a mix of parts I had from years ago and ebay finds, and use it for a daily driver with Windows 10! It turns out, thanks to some weird Russian website, while Microsoft did remove AGP support from Windows 10 shortly post release, it's possible to re-enable it using some files from a original Windows 10 build! I dug out my old AGP 3850 video card, Quad Core Extreme CPU, DDR1 RAM, all from different builds originally, found an AsRock Motherboard on EBay that supports this mix of stuff, tossed in a couple new SSDs and old spinner drives I had (only 2x SATA ports, so I used PATA to SATA Adapters on the rest) and ended up using it daily for a couple months! It really wasn't the worst, it's snappier in most things than a generic low end cheapo Dell office machine that a generic IT department would buy for generic office workers today! It's not a gaming powerhouse, but I can play Half-Life 2 and Borderlands on it, beyond general office use stuff. CPU: Quad Core Extreme QX6800 MOBO: AsRock ConRoe865PE RAM: 4GB Corsair PC3200 DDR1 (only 3GB is addressable due to limitations of the Intel 865 chipset, which was originally built for a pentium 4!) AGP Video Card: HIS HD3850 IceQ 3 Turbo 512mb PCI Video Card: Zotac GeForce GT 520 512mb (PhysX works! Kinda.) SATA 1: Samsung 860 EVO 250GB (system drive) SATA 2: Crucial BX300 120GB (Dedicated for Windows swap and page file. With only 3GB of usable RAM, it gets a workout, and with SATA1 ports being saturated, splitting the load like this between 2 drives improves performance noticably) PATA 1-4: Buncho old platter drives for storage on the ATA headers with SATA adapters

Couldn't resist taking a photo of the card and the box. This was originally in my former Pentium III 550Mhz desktop, if I recall this card was last used in my Athlon 64 before I got my hands on a GeForce 6600GT.

I'm working on a Windows 98 retro build. Anyone know where I can get a deal on a used Voodoo 3 3000? I know they're in demand and hard to come by - any help's appreciated.

Was going through some stuff in my basement when I came across this old beast (probably wasn't but one can dream lol) and it's just been eating away at me for what it could be. I don't have a system with and agp port, so I can't exactly just gpu-z it or anything. The strangest part was the crucial sticker on the fan, which really got me curious about what this could possibly be. So I went googling just about every string of characters that was on the pcb, sticker or not, and still nothing popped up. The closest result was from when I tried on the bottom right of the front, PN 109-A034GN-00C, but that gave results that obviously weren't this card. I got desperate so I popped the cooler off, and the die was illegible. So now I turn here! To see if any of you know anything about this mystery card.

Alright, so I was going through my Grandfather's old computers, and was scrapping them for parts, when I come across this beauty: A PNY Geforce 4 Ti4280 AGP card. Now initially, I did what everyone does, checked out ebay to take a look at what it was worth. It came up with the same exact PCB but different cooler and memory size. Now the one listed on the card stated 64MB based on the sticker, which also said that it was a Geforce Ti4200. The one listed online, that looks exactly the same (minus the cooler) lists 128MB. I was confused. So I plugged it into a rig, and booted it up, and the BIOS detected 64MB. I took a second and booted into windows 7. Oddly, in GPU-Z it stated it had 128mb... I am at a loss. So I dug around some GPU databases, and found that during the Geforce 4 generation PNY only produced a 64mb Ti4200. No mention of a PNY 128mb Ti4280. The PCB matched the other online, but no one else had it. Anyone have some insight into this card? Any idea what it is, and why it shows different memory in bios then the OS? And why does it have heatsinks on both side, and is miss marked as a ti4280?

Ok so, I picked up an ATI Radeon HD 4670 1GB DDR3 and it is AGP. Now I know it is difficult to get even a PCIe version of this card so how rare/difficult would it be for anyone else to get this card in AGP version? That probably makes no sense, haha but yeah, I own one now (Got for free) but should I sell it or do I keep it because it is a worthy card for the shelf?

I've been wanting to do tests on the Radeon 7000 32M GPU I got in an old system that wasn't functional. The PC was sold to me for €10, and I wasn't expecting to find anything useful (I just love taking apart old hardware for nostalgic's sake). I did find the GPU, and after discovering the rest of the system was trashed, I needed to look for a new system that has a x8 AGP slot. Does anyone know of any place that I can look online where I can find something?

Recently my dad and i found an old Radeon HD 3450 lying in an e-waste pile. It looks like this: Now when i plugged it into my ASUS motherboard's PCIe slot, it didn't quite work. I plugged a VGA cable into it and my monitor. Nothing. Now this is where is gets interesting. I now unplugged it from my mobo and booted the computer up. Now the ASUS logo that shows up when the pc boots is normally white, but now it's changed to purple, and the windows loading screen has changed. Basically the hue was offset. Why is that? How do i fix it? And why isn't my GPU's VGA port working?

Got my AGP FX 6800 GS in, plugged it in, anddddd all I'm getting is a black screen. The fan on the card (aswell as the system fan) are running themselves at full speed, but I'm not getting any video out. Might there be some kind of BIOS incompatibility? Was I sold a faulty card? The FX 5200 I have works fine in it. Even put it back in to make sure I didn't some how damage the board or the PSU- nope, works fine with it.

AGP is, for those who dont know, a really old, pretty shitty, standard for graphics cards. i would like a card with an AGP connector thats faster then the FX5500 that im currently using to play NSFU2(dosent play nice with new hardware and shit, cant bother explaining it all) main problem beeing that AGP cards are rare. the second biggest problem is that im using a 200W PSU and im running a pentium 4 3.2GHz chip aswell. also, it has no 6 pin for power. yay. anyway if you know of a card thats more powerfull then the FX5500 thats usiually redaly available in europe then tell me. if you have an AGP card faster then the FX5500 and you dont want it anymore then PM me, but i sure as hell aint paying the shipping if you are outside of the EU lol. thanks for any help here also please answer the poll if you care, its just because i want to know

so, found a guy selling LOADS of AGP cards including Geforce 6600s and ATI 9600/9600 pro's and a few more that i have been able to identify with google but this one i cant find anything about it seems so if anyone can help that would be awesome also whats better, a Geforce 6600 LE, an FX5500 or an ATI 9600 pro? seeing as i doubt this card is more powerfull then those please identify the right card, the left one seems to be a Geforce 6200.

Hi tech nerds of ltt forums, just wondering if you could give me more I formation about this mobo? I've found a completely freshly boxed one with the drivers, box, manual and tape over the agp port. Value? Usefulness? If it could be donated to an ltt project I'd gladly oblige.

just curious to know what the largest gpu by physical size on the agp format? largest one that comes to my mind is the ATI Radeon X1950 Pro by HIS.

What was the fastest AGP card that you ever used? The fastest one I ever used was the Diamond Multimedia ATI Radeon 9550 128 MB Model which is clocked at a core clock speed of 250 Mhz. I have been looking at getting the ATI Radeon X1950PRO for Intel Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz Prescott Socket 478 for my video on the basic progression of AGP.

I have a bit of an odd question. I recently dug up my old HP Compaq d530 Small Form Factor PC, just to see whether it still worked. After some cleaning out the motherboard and replacing some cables, it did, miraculously. I don't have a lot of experience with building PCs, so I figured I would make it my test machine to try out some new stuff. And since the PC is old, the parts shouldn't be expensive and would therefore give me the freedom to experiment as I'd like. The first thing I want to try is upgrade it a bit, to make it run as smoothly as possible for such an old PC. Upgrading the RAM is no problem, if I can find some 1 GB DDR1 RAM sticks that is (4 slots available for a total of 4 GB RAM). The CPU is going to be a bit of a hassle, since I can't seem to remove the CPU cooler, it seems stuck. The CPU doesn't really require an update though, it's a Intel Pentium 4 2.6 GHz, I don't think there are a lot of faster CPUs available for a 478 socket. Now the real problem is a video card. It doesn't currently have one, so it seems like that would be the biggest upgrade. As far as I can tell there's one AGP slot and two PCI slots. (I am not sure on the version, though). The PC came with a riser card for one of the PCI slots, which provides room for a full size PCI GPU. The AGP slot, however, seems very small, it doesn't seem like a large video card would fit. (Low Profile?) I need some advice on the best video card that is available second hand that would fit this PC. As far as I am aware, there aren't any good PCI video cards that are still manufactured and sold first hand. I have attached some photo's of the motherboard, the back side and a photo of a d530 that as an APG ATI Radion 9200 SE 128MB installed (not my pc). For anyone wondering, I live in the Netherlands, so any PC Parts are probably going to be bought on marktplaats.nl (it's sort of like eBay). EDIT: It seems like an AGP GPU is the way to go, any advice on a good card?

I would like to upgrade my legacy Pentium II gaming computer's graphics card. I don't have extensive knowledge on the AGP connector so I am posting my question here to help answer some questions I have. Right now, the computer uses an ATI Rage LT PRO AGP card with 8 Mb of video memory. My motherboard has an AGP 1.0 2x slot. Right now, I'm searching eBay for some cards and I came across this ATI Radeon 9600 XT. This is an AGP 4x/8x card and has a slightly different connector than what my current card has. My question is will this card fit in to the slot and work, or do I have to find another card? If so, could you recommend a good maxed out card that supports the AGP port my motherboard has? Thanks. I have a rather simple question, I'm just not sure how many people will know this. I have a older computer and I want to get a used AGP 6800 ultra for it. The computer I have is a Dell precision 650 from around 2003 or 2004. I would like to keep the computer period correct which is why I want a 6800 ultra even if I can get an APG radeon 3850, which is way more powerful, for the same price. The only thing is all the 6800's on ebay are for macs. I just want to know if that would cause any issues. They are AGP pro cards, and I have an AGP pro slot, but other than that I don't know much about agp. I just want to make sure the cards made for the macs don't have a custom BIOS or something that would make them not work.

Simply out of curiosity. What's the oldest graphics card you remember getting and feeling like an absolute boss for having? I remember when I got my Riva TNT2 Pro and felt like an absolute king for having 32MB of VRAM.

What can should I do with these boring old AGP Quadros? What would be fun to do with them? (I don't mean hit them with a hammer)

Hey guys, I posted this photo on this thread and it had me wondering... Anyone still remember the AGP slot and what did you put in it?

Hello everyone. I've got an old-ass PC (Athlon 950, 256 meg SDRAM). I was wondering if installation of HD 2600 could help this system with decoding videos. But people on forums say that HD 2600 has serious issues with hardware acceleration, but those threads are old. Is there anyone who knows if those problems are solved now, in 2014. Thnx.

Hi everybody. I'm going to install Win7 Ultimate in to my machine and replace the Windows XP Pro, but I've stopped, because I can't find the right driver for the gpu. I've read on forums - they wrote "use vista's driver", but the user replied that it doesn't work. What should I do? Should the GPU drivers work? Which ones you would recommend? GPU: Point-of-View GeForce FX5500 256MB AGP Monitor: LG Flatron L1952TQ Thanks in advance, John.

So a friend of a friend asked if I wanted to pick up a Viewsonic 24" 1080P LCD for 50 bucks, so I agreed. I'll find some use for it eventually. Then the friend of a friend asked if I was interested in buying a box of random computer parts. So I asked him to send me some photos of the product and only saw a bunch of DDR2 sticks, a few pentium 4 chips and some random video cards. He wanted 150 for them and as much fun as it might be to dig through it, I passed on the offer. I guess he couldn't find a buyer cause when my friend came to drop off the monitor she handed me the entire box and mentioned the guy said I could just have it. Let's see! (Keep in mind there are actually around 10 more video cards, around 50 sticks of DDR2, a few more random AM2 Athlons a Garmin Nuvi and a few sound cards.) I know some here people might appreciate these. I'll add to these later.
