Hello ladies and gents, I am FINALLY this year building my new desktop. I've been waiting a long, long time for this so I'm pretty excited. Was wondering if there's any issue with using 2 x (2x32GB) memory kits from corsair to max out my RAM. I know I probably don't need 128GB, but that's besides the point. This is going to be my only and last chance to build what I want for probably a very very long time, so practicalities is sort of secondary to wants this time around. Anyway, here's my list of parts. I'm open to any friendly advice about any of them, but in particular I want to know about the memory question. Will 2 x 64GB kits (So 4 x 32GB modules) function as a whole 128GB kit? Is there any disadvantage to doing it this way? Looking for honest and friendly advice. Thanks in advance! I have looked around what laptop to buy, but there are too many options. So i was wondering if you could help me. My use cases are: running some docker containers (ex databases, and web applications locally), compiling rust and c++, modeling in FreeCad, content consumption, writing code. My preferences: linux would be appreciated, the price shouldn't be more then 1200usd, don't mind it if its used, Max 16inche screen(but 14 is preferred) Good enough so i can last about 5 years a fairly good keyboard I'm willing to go up in price if there is a good reason. Thanks in advance

I'm finally making my first GPU upgrade to the system I built back in 2019. Are there general things I should do before or after I put the new card in? I did buy a new power supply last year with the new 16 pin connector, 850 watt power supply so I'm good there as well. I assume the main things will be get the drivers for the new card installed but should I delete the drivers for the old card as well? I will be staying with Nvidia to hopefully make things easier.

I love collecting console games, retro, modern, etc. However I have a few concerns and am curious about possible improvements to the set up. You can see the wires, they're decently organized, but not fantastically plus the sheer quantity of them makes it hard to manage. Any ideas on how I can better manage/hide these cables, even if I should make a change in the shelf/stand I have a lot of retro consoles and a major concern of mine is that these electrical components are very old and because of that I don't trust them to be hooked up to power without my supervision. Currently I use a very large power strip which has a switch that I turn off whenever I'm not home and using a console in the set up. Is there a better way to go about this? Is there a better way to store the controllers, especially the wired ones? I worry that the wires are degrading as I wrap them around themselves and have noticed that they start to twist and take that shape permanently. I like things to appear fairly neat and be easy to get in and out. Any ideas? My original Xbox and Xbox One S need new feet however I haven't been able to really find any, someone know where I can find some? Is there anyway to protect my purchase in the case of a fire? Perhaps I could convert the physical library to digital in some cases and continue to use the discs for as long as they're available? I'm also looking for possible improvements to my desk set up and am curious if any of you guys have any ideas. I don't want to purchase a new desk as this one was quite expensive, but it has some size constraints and I was considering a few possibilities. A second Apple Studio Display. I always had duel monitors when I was a PC person, I've since switched to Apple Silicon for the time being. I love my Apple Studio Display, but I'm considering purchasing another identical model. The one concern is crowding my desk. I'd like to maintain what I call a messy minimalistic approach, there is also the concern of making my one wire set up a two wire set up for hooking up one of my Macs and reducing easy access to them. I'd like the server to be more hidden, but it runs Linux Mint so not everything is accessible in the terminal. I do tend to do most things via the terminal allowing SSH to be a great solution for most of the time. Is there perhaps some remote monitoring applications (free of charge preferably and not requiring an online account) that I could employ to maintain desktop access when required without needing an additional legacy monitor? I use the server to host my Valheim and Minecraft server. Should I adjust the storage of the lots of retro computers and parts I have? I use these for repairing/maintaining retro machines and am working on making some videos in regards to the equipment I have. I'm really hoping to minimize the cluttered look. Notes about the photos: I keep my RGB strip, Time Machine m.2 and usb dongle on the back of my Apple Studio Display, I've also recently added a USB SuperDrive (don't worry I didn't buy it new as that would be a total rip off). I have two Macs in vertical stands, one is my main machine an M1 Pro 14" and the other is an old Intel Mac from 2019 that I use only for Windows and playing some games that are only available on Windows. I use the shelving and platform to my right when facing my monitor to repair machines and stop tools and some software. The beige shelf stores more hardware and to the left of me in the photo is another hardware shelf. The legacy monitor is for my server and I'd love to retire and discontinue daily use, keeping it around only as a spare. Looking forward to your guy's recommendations.

I've been using Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000s for basically my whole life, and I still love it, but I figure that I should probably actually upgrade to a more "proper" (mechanical) keyboard someday. So, I've been idly looking for upgrade options, but I can't seem to find anything comparable. I use the numpad, the back/forward buttons near the bottom, I like having a proper function row as well as having separate media control keys (I'd love to have skip forward/skip back keys too), I even use the "home" and "calculator" keys relatively often, as well as stuff like print screen and page down. Obviously, it being ergonomic is a very key feature, but I don't want a fully separated in the middle keyboard, just the gentler curves like my current one would be best, along with the cushions of course. My budget isn't hard-capped, but I'd really rather not spend hundreds of dollars on a keyboard, especially since my current one is still working just fine. Honestly, mostly the goal is to find something as comparable to the Ergo 4000 as I can so if/when this one eventually does die I can get a new keyboard rather than scrounging eBay for a new used Ergo 4000 for too much money anyway. I don't care much about RGB outside of the fact that I'd love to be able to turn it off as much as possible at will, including even indicator lights if possible, since I find them distracting if I'm trying to properly watch something. I'd rather it not be wireless, but as long as it's rechargeable it's not a dealbreaker ig. To be honest, I don't mind the "membraneness" of my current keyboard, but that's probably because I'm so used to it, I'm sure going back would suck someday once I'm used to what actually modern keyboards feel like lol. So far everything I've found from my own searching has been missing at least some of the features I use on my current keyboard, often while being over $200, if not significantly higher. Thanks in advance for any advice or recommendations!

One of my elderly relatives just had their phone die on them the other day & they need a new phone. I've seen alot of people recommended iphones, but I'd rather not suggest one as no one else in the family has iphones & i dislike apple as a company & want to vote with my wallet. The previous phone they had was a samsung J6. I'd be very grateful is anyone could advise on a smartphone that would be easy & simple to use for them.

Budget (including currency): 5000PLN = Approx 1200$ Country: Poland Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Adobe Photoshop, Davinci Resolve, Overwatch 2, Baldur's Gate 3 Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hi, I want to build a PC for my wife for Digital Art. Budget is exclusively for PC unit, so Monitor and peripherals will be bought outside the Budget. Currently using old Asus laptop that barely runs Photoshop, but freezes a lot and work is not possible thanks to that. I think 1080p would be sufficient but 4k would be appreciated. 100Hz or more would be helpful for occasional gaming. I have tried to pull some lists on my own, but need your opinion on it or suggestions for better one. Much appreciated your help:) Would be great if it had a open way for some upgrades in future. What is your overall option on this list as well? Shop Website

Budget (including currency): 3000-5000 USD Country: 3rd world country + Malaysia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Web, varied gaming (I love simulation genre), games development, Stable Diffusion, 2D and 3D graphic apps, multitasking multi-monitor setup, etc. Hello, I have a PC that I’ve built myself in October 2019. This was my first PC bought using my own money, my first PC that I’ve built myself, and my first powerful PC. It has been almost 5 years and it’s almost fine, but I think the time has come for a new PC. It’s already at its limit, especially since I discovered Stable Diffusion. I’m a game developer, gaming, dabbling occasionally into 2D and 3D graphics, etc. Varied usage. I will be generously donating my current PC to my friend. So, my budget is around $3000-$5000, although don’t take this into account, because I’m from a third-world country where everything is overpriced and I will be buying PC parts both in my home country and in Malaysia where I’m going soon. In Malaysia, I will buy the Motherboard, GPU, SSD, and Cooler. I want you to check out my planned build and give me some expert advice. I think everything fits together nicely, I hope. Check out my comments about parts as well. I want my PC to last at least 10 years, if possible. Here's my current setup: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core @3.6GHz I didn’t have any problems with this CPU. GPU: Gigabyte RX 5700 XT Gaming OC 8GB GDDR6 Unfortunately, I had several troubles with this GPU. From multi-monitor setup, to driver troubles and no support for Stable Diffusion. Also can’t play new games in 4K, even some in 2K Cooler: AMD Wraith Prism LED RGB I guess it’s fine? But loud. Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX B450-F Gaming RAM: Kingstone 2x8GB DDR4-3200 PSU: be quiet! Straight Power 11 650W Storage: Samsung M.2 SSD 970 EVO Plus 1TB Monitor: Samsung U28E590D 28" 4K@60Hz TN+Film Well, it’s cheap... Case: Mid Tower Thermaltake Commander C35 Had some troubles while installing the PSU. It’s heavy and big. Here's what I'm planning CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-Core @4.2GHz OR AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D 16-Core @4.2GHz Honestly, I think 8 cores will be enough, but I’m a game developer, heavy multi-tasking, professional apps, etc. So I’m not quite sure. I heard certain things about 3D chips and something about their chiplet design, I don’t know. I think if I take a 16-core CPU then it will definitely last me 10 years, no? Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Elite So, I want a powerful but quiet cooler, I think I’m biased towards be quiet! German engineering and whatnot. GPU: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4080 Super Gaming OC 16GB GDDR6X OR Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming OC 24GB GDDR6X Yeah, big difference, obviously, I want the best GPU, although I’m not entirely sure because it’s almost time for a 5000 series, plus a 4080 Super is coming. I just hope if I take a 4090 it will last me at least 10 years! Eren Yeager moment. I trust the Gigabyte brand, plus they have an official store in Malaysia. Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming B650M-PLUS OR ASUS ROG STRIX B650E-E Gaming Wi-Fi The only thing I want from a motherboard is: 2 RAM slots; 2 M.2 slots; Good VRM with a beautiful heatsink; Built-in IO Shield; At least 4 connectors for case fans, I don’t know how this works, unfortunately, I couldn’t configure this in my current PC. But I want my PC to be able to smart control case fans; And at least one USB Type-C. That’s it. I don’t care about motherboard size, I won’t be using anything besides a GPU... BUT The Gigabyte GPUs have an ANTI-SAG BRACKET which is screwed onto the motherboard, it should work with ATX, with others I don’t know. Having M.2 heatsinks is a nice addition. I think Asus motherboards look really cool, plus I kinda trust them as well although I heard a lot of bad things about them recently. RAM: Kingstone 2x16GB DDR5-6000 I don’t know what to say, I don’t understand anything about RAM. 32GB should be enough, I hit the limit at 16GB. I only want 32GB DDR5 with AMD EXPO. I’m thinking about picking up an RGB one PSU: be quiet! Straight Power 12 850/1000/1200W Again, I trust them. They have a nice feature, the only thing I don’t know is what wattage to pick. I read something about peak PSU efficiency, so I’m lost. I guess with a 4090 I will need at least 1200W or more! Storage: Kingston M.2 SSD Fury Renegade 4TB I will be re-using my current Samsung SSD as a Windows drive and this one will be for everything else. I heard there are a lot of problems with the new gen of Samsung SSDs and they don’t have 4TB options. Also, I have Kingston RAM, I guess this one should be fine as well. Right? Monitor: LG UltraGear 27GP95R-B 27" 4K@144Hz IPS I don’t care about 75/120/144/165+Hz, I don’t care, what will I do? Code in 120 FPS? All I want is a beautiful picture. So I went with IPS. No less than 27 inches, and no more than 30, ideally the same 28 inches. 3840x2160, no more no less, not curved, only 16:9, frameless design, adjustable stand, I don’t want a mounting bracket. I want micro-LED but I guess they won’t come in ages. I DO want OLED but I won’t be getting one, I abuse my monitor heavily so burn-ins are guaranteed for me. Case: Mid Tower be quiet! PURE BASE 500FX Again - be quiet! 4 pre-installed fans, lighter and smaller than my current case, better filters, even insulation mats I like it! What can you say about this build? I’m all ears! Should I buy max specs, or maybe I should buy everything else maxed out and then buy an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D and a 4070 Ti Super or something, and then just upgrade when new AMD CPUs and Nvidia GPUs are released? Thank you!

Hey All! I recently got a RX 590 Fatboy to replace my old 1050ti. However, the card is just a bit too big for my setup and has some serious heating issues. I was thinking about going with the GIGABYTE Radeon RX 6600 EAGLE, since it draws a lot less power and is a triple fan unit, to add with that cooling. I am really trying to avoid a complete rebuild, so I am just looking for a mid table card that would fit within my current build. Any advice helps!! My current setup is CPU - Ryzen 5 3600x GPU - RX 590 Fatboy Ram - 16GB Vengeance PSU - EVGA 550 B3

So i am upgrading my rig, it was a gaming prebuild bought in the top of gpu shortage so i got a 9400kf and a 2060Super, for around 1500$, Anyways now i switched to a AMD Radeon RX 450 cuse im running a heckintosh (Apple fanboy) and i am a programer on mobile apps, websites and a bit of AI, So as i downgraded my GPU just for display output i now have a pritty bad computer, And as LGA1511 is a dead platform i am going with an 13900k and 32gig of ddr5 RAM. Now i am cheeping out a little and buing everything used, so for motherboard i decidet to go with B760 GAMING PLUS WIFI And i am wondering if anybody knows if this is a good motherboard and what i should get for what i need: -DDR5 -LGA1700 -2 M.2 slots -2.5gig network -And good onboard audio for my little saround sound So is my choise good or is there a batter way

The price difference is only 15€ Powercolor Hellhound 7800XT (620€) XFX 7900 GRE (635€) I will be playing at 1080p with a ryzen 7 7800x3d. I wanted to get a Sapphire Pulse 7900 GRE, bit they're out of stock, but one concern I have for XFX 7900 GRE is the high temps and throttling or maybe I just worry too much. What should I do?

So I'm looking at getting an upgrade. I already have a Pixel 7, it's a good phone. However I need more storage, not cloud storage, physical storage and I can't upgrade my storage internally (easily anyway). I need help making a choice. Pixel phones for me have been old reliable. Have had 2 and been about 3 years apart. It's a good phone, just too low on storage at 128GB. The new phones have 512GB options and I would love to have a phone with half a terrabyte. However I wonder which phone is better for productivity and entertainment? I don't know much about Samsung Phones, but I have heard amazing things about the S24 Ultra being worth it. Also my phone's trade in is worth $1K but I don't know how much it is for the Pixel 8 Pro. Are there pros and cons to either phone and which one is actually just the better pick for someone who needs a phone that can do everything on an android platform. (Need an android phone cuz some of my audio files and music production mobile software is only on Android). Any tips. Advice. Specs. Or just a direction would be good. I just don't know what to get. Stay with the Pixel lineup or go big for a S24 Ultra? Mild gaming included. Emulation mostly.

can i do raid 5 with Ubuntu server 22.04 on this ? 10Gtek M.2 (M Key) to 6xSATA Adapter, SATA3.0, NO-Riad, for Desktop PC Support SSD and HDD an can the 1st of 5 ssd's be bigger then the others in that config the sixth port will be for a 5.25in blu-ray burner _____________________________________________ i own everything accept for the 2.5in ssd drives an spare low profile cable i also have a spare m.2 adapter by ORICO M.2 PCIe RAID-PM2TS6 these are my build parts raid 5 + burner version 1 the nvme in mounted in m.2 slot 1 with the listed heatsink , the 10gtek m.2 adapter is in the rear slot id like to use the nvme in slot 1 as a cache drive for the raid array i could re-config for more storage if i were to plug the burner into the standard mobo sata port an use all 6 ports on the 10Gtek M.2 Adapter to setup raid 5e if Ubuntu server 22.04 has that option in the install process does it an would the be better ? otherwise id do raid 5 an with a btrfs file-system an the compress=zstd:10 option if possible fyi current desired storage capacity is 6tb as that will cover all 4 of my pc's os main drives an combined other important files a minimum of 6tb will also cover my audio/pic & video library just fine as each pc has a 2tb 2nd drive for games, renders, pics, an downloads the server if for stuff i dont wont to lose.

Budget (including currency): No budget but would like to not go over $2000 CAD for the parts I do not own already. Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: All games and any future games I hope. Streaming. Other details https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/TwoNinjas/saved/7CvjWZ So I have been flip flopping on which CPU to buy for DDR5 so I would like some advice on the pros and cons of both. I have a lot of trouble on comparing the cpus and the price/value. I have an AMD processor already listed in my parts list but the Intel cpu I was thinking was a i9-12700k. I At the moment in this build I already have the GPU and the Case from my previous PC. I will be buying the parts on sale and one or two at a time. If you think there is anyway I can save on the build that would keep the DDR5 speeds be awesome.

It may seem an odd question, but here's the rest of the story. A year ago I was browsing Facebook Marketplace when I spotted an oddity. An $80 power supply with an MSI RTX 3080 12GB. I figured the GPU was likely some form of dead or dying, which surprise, surprise it was. The seller had purchased it new, it started artifacting so he RMAed it. He received a new one, bought a new PSU and still had the same issue, whereupon he gave on it and cut his losses and sold his old PSU to me, along with the GPU. I tinkered with it, RMAed it myself, and received a new unit. I installed that one, it was stable for all of 10 minutes if that on Linux, and then blacked out. I finally RMAed that unit last month and just received it back last week. I'm feeling kind of burnt out on this beast as well as leary of it. TLDR: 3 bad GPUs in a row, last one came back again and I'm leary of it

does anyone make a 10 Port | 8X2.5G+ 2x 10G SFP(VLAN) poe+ Unmanaged Network Switch, with One-Key VLAN for under 375$ ish 400$ max my budget limit that also covers shipping ? i found a 6 port ver from NICGIGA ther 6 Port 2.5G Ethernet Switch with 4X 2500Mbps + 2X 10G SFP Uplink Port , Unmanaged, One-Key VLAN an while i thought about getting 2 with the 2nd as a poe variant with one-key-vlan which would cover the 4 poe devices i have nicgiga doesn't have one because either amazon doesn't carry one from them or they dont have one at all so if anyone could point me to one from them an or a similar priced brand like SODOLA or YuanLey that would be great the reason i need one like this is it suits my needs in the past i used to have a 5 port aumox SG305P with poe an one key vlan an it did my setup at the time very well especially the one key vlan solved a lot of issues i had with my network setup an gear but now that iv upgraded all my pc's ,AP's , & home servers to a mix of 2.5 & 10gbit connects a switch that matches is needed an the nicgiga almost fits the bill but is shy the 4 extra 2.5gbit ports i need. an while getting two would technicality solve this problem my overall reason for wanting just one with the stated config an amount of ports is this , iv got one big cyberpower ups battey backup that covers all eight units of my network setup an thers not room for a ninth. an id like to stick with a unmanaged switch but wouldnt be oppesed to a managed on like the SODOLA 8-Port Gigabit/10G POE Switch Managed, 150W,160Gbps Bandwidth,BT90W Supported Smart Web Managed thats in my max price range of 400$ i just give up on doing a vlan setup myself because i ovously didnt know how to do it right when i tried with my current EnGenius Fit EWS2910P-FIT (the one im going to replace) hence why id prefer a one key vlan option with the stated ports an config. so can you guys help me out ? My to be layout after upgrade (currently all running at 1gbit with no vlan)

Hi LMG Forums, I am looking for advice on how I can remove background noise from my microphone input at a device level. I am aware that Discord and other applications use Krisp to filter out background noise on the application level, but I need something that can allow me to do this at the interface level. I need this because I am doing some stuff with RVC which requires that I plug my microphone interface directly into the application to record and I cannot have background noise messing the conversion up. I am looking for either a software that would allow me to do this with a virtual microphone interface (something that allows me to feed my microphone input directly into something like Krisp then output it as a virtual audio device would be amazing) or alternatively a microphone setup that has some kind of noise suppression built into the device itself (i've been told that some XLR microphones can do this, but I haven't been able to find any with a cursory google search) I am willing to use paid software as long as a perpetual license is available for it or buy a full on new microphone setup if it does what I need it to do. Would prefer not to spend more than $300 if possible. I have considered downloading Krisp itself, but the free version is limited to 60 minutes a day and the pro version has no option for a perpetual license.

Hey! I've decided it's time to get myself a NAS for my files plus maybe hosting a media server. I've decided to go with TrueNAS Scale since it supports everything I need, but I am not sure about the hardware I could use, from what I have available. I am planning to buy 2x 4TB Ironwolf Pros for mirror raid (4TB is enough for my needs). I want to do it without spending unnecessary money and I have two computers at home that can be used for this task: - An Intel 8th gen NUC with 15-watt TDP CPU and only one SATA and one M2 port (this would force me to buy SSDs instead of HDDs and kinda improvise the solution) - A motherboard with 4 SATA slots, along with an i5 - 4460 CPU to use with it. This one has enough SATA ports for the HDDs without issues The dilemma I have between those two options is that I am worried about a higher power draw on 4460 that over time would add cost. I am not fully aware if I can downclock or limit 4460 to make it consume less power. I'd appreciate any advice, thanks!
