Hey guys I was wondering if anyone has a guide to prepare a windows 10 image for enterprise usage, or some tips on how to do it better. What I have available: - Active Directory setup on a local domain. - SCCM12 is available - Acronis software - Dell Latitude E5470 and E7270 with Windows 10 pro licenses What I need help with: Preparing the windows 10 image: Do I need to put certain settings in there to prepare it for active directory? How do I remove all the bloatware from installing when I image a new computer? Is there a list somewhere where I can find all the bloatware and how to uninstall the package installers? Are there any registry entries that I should change? Is there a better/easier way to do this? Any good guides are very welcome Thank you!

This question is for all of those who use software on a routine basis to manage hard drives, by either copying/cloning, migrating from one size drive to another, using multiple operating systems, and backing up all files to images or otherwise. I am looking for the best utility in the industry, I am sick of having to resort to using multiple tools to accomplish what I try to do when it comes to managing hard drives for my clients. Basically, I use the Disk Management tool by Microsoft extensively, however it has it's limitations and does not do a hell of a lot when it comes to resizing, cloning, and etc. If I can't do what I'd like to do with DiskMan, I will use either Minitool Partition Wizard, or EaseUS Partition Master. I have also used Macrium Reflect (i like this one a lot), Acronis TrueImage, Norton Ghost (11.5 seems to be the best version), and even Carbon Copy Cloner and Super Duper! However, when it comes to migrating a certain size HDD that is larger than a destination SSD, I seem to have issues. Like for instance, I'm working on a clients Macbook pro and it only supports up to OSX 10.6.8 which is not only lame, but frustrating because I can't for the life of me get any of the clones working with any combination of utilities that I use. I do happen to have some hardware cloning tools, where I can put the master disk in the first slot and then the destination drive in the 2nd, then hit the clone button... but that doesn't work when the drive is smaller than the original drive. (I know I didn't put clonezilla on here but I just dont like it. I really don't dive deeply into too many Linux programs although I do use LCMint or Ubuntu a lot to recover data from 'failed' drives) That's where this post began to formulate in my head. Why not ask Linus and friends what they think is the best of the best when it comes to migrating larger sized hard drives to smaller ones (especially an OSX drive) There's a good chance that I'll finally get this working at some point, maybe even after I hit the post button... but either way, I think this would be a great discussion to have with all of you and i'm looking forward to hearing some of your input. Thank you very much, hope to hear from you soon!

Hello everyone!I backed-up a HHD from a PC that was affected by recent storming. Performed a HDSentinel test on the HHD. HHD was checked as healthy. Decided to upgrade the HHD from a WD green 1TB to a Samsung 1TB to get the 7200RPM. Acronis informed me the back-up and restore was successful. Upon installing the HHD into the new computer I get the following:Loading DRMK V8.00 DRMK Version 8.00 COMMAND.COM Build 37 - Jul 28, 2008 DRMK KERNEL Build 15 - Aug 8, 2008 Copyright (c) 2006-2008 Dell Inc. All rights reserved. C:\> (Saying Bad command or filename when I typed something) Additional info: Gateway DX4831-01E image to a DELL OPTILPLEX 9010. Both have OEM Windows 7 pro product keys.

So, I bought the hyperX savage 240GB SSD by kingston. Installed their included cloning software (Acronis) and proceeded with cloning. After the cloning, I get 3 partitions. first a partition with 1.55GB in it, the second one, which is an exact copy of the drive that I am cloning, and the remainder of the GBs goes into a recovery partition. Am I doing something wrong? Any solutions to this?

Hey guys, This is probably a pretty niche question but I got an Adata SU800 Ultimate SSD about a year ago and just today I activated the free code for Acronis True Image HD 2013 OEM. However, although I've gone through the process exactly as Adata and Acronis show in their videos and guides, I have been unable to activate the code, only being met with a grayed out "Activate" button that I can't click on and a symbol to the right of my code that I can only assume means it's invalid for some reason. I've double checked Acronis' website to make sure that the serial number is registered and it showed up as a registered active product. Could someone please help me figure this out? I really need to get this program working soon. Acronis directed me towards Adata support and Adata support isn’t working. Thank you! Here's what I see whenever I enter in my code:

Hello good people. So, it's going to take a while to explain the chain of events leading to my current problem, I know it's convoluted and long but please bear with me and I will try to explain it as best as I can. My dad's pc has 2 hard drives: an old drive from which he created a clone ("new") a month ago, and the clone on which he has been working since. They both have several partitions. Each drive has a partition on which win 7 is installed and one on which win 10 is installed, and he's only been using the new one for the past month. Yesterday, he was trying to back up a .pst file from win 7 (probably not very important). Upon completion, he used partition magic 8.0 (what he's always been using) to switch to the win 10 partition, but something went wrong and win 10 couldn't load and instead we got a "something went wrong :(" blue screen which then lead us to some of win 10's troubleshooting tools - none of which worked (they all threw some kind of errors). Ironically, while you might think that is what I was gonna ask about, it is not, because since yesterday we've made matters even worse. Don't ask why, but today we used the same program with which my dad cloned the old hard drive - "Acronis" - to delete the contents of some unused partition from the new drive. We thought that it might help us with something but it didn't, and what followed is pretty bad. Upon leaving Acronis and trying to boot again (back to the win 10 troubleshooting tools) we suddenly got a black screen with the msg "No operating system found". It seems that for some reason, after deleting the old unused partition, that partition was somehow set to be the active partition. At this point we connected back the old hard drive (which is working fine) and entered win 7 to take a look at the disks and partitions inside the Disk Management tool. I think the partitions of the new drive got completely messed up. For one, none of the partitions had a drive letter next to them. Additionally, the active partition was indeed the empty one which we had deleted (I don't understand this topic too much but I am pretty sure the partitions are not the way they're supposed to be, just from comparing them to the old drive). So, I looked around google and tried to use DISKPART (via cmd). With diskpart I was able to do 3 things: 1. Change the right partition to be the active one (the leftmost one). 2. Assigned the letter E to the volume that represents the new hard drive - after which the letter E appeared next to the right-most partition. 3. Set the "info" attribute of that volume so it wouldn't be "Hidden" (I thought this might solve the issue). After that I tried to boot from the windows 7 partition (the one I set to Active) of the new drive and indeed the logo of windows 7 appeared(!!!) but got hung on the splash screen. I don't know what else to do and could really use some help. Here are some relevant screenshots: As you can see, Disk 0 is my faulty new drive, and it's left most partition is the one I set to active using diskfrat...but win 7 just hangs when I boot it. The right-most partition (454 MB) for some reason is the only one that's associated with volume E. Disk 1 is my old drive which works fine. This is a screenshot from DISKPRAT showing the partitions I have on my old drive, and the details of Partition #1 which is working and booting my old win 7. And lastly, this shows the partition on my new drive, as well as details on Partition #1 which is set to Active but NOT WORKING

Greetings, Has anyone here migrated off a SSD/HDD before? I need some software to help me with this; however they all seem to be paid-for and ridiculously overpriced. Really just looking for consistency and reputability, not speed - would like it to work the first time however I have plans for setting up rescue media. Any help is appreciated.

Ok, so i bought a kingston hyper x savage ssd 480GB and it arrived today. they come with acronis cloning software so i went through one of linus's cloning videos and followed it through. the only thing is that it asks me to restart as soon as i've finished the step-by-step stuff. but whenever i try to restart (through the prompt), it shuts off and turns on but the monitor stays black. (external monitor) keyboard and mouse light up and leds are on and hdd is spinning but it stays black. i have to do a hard-shut down to get it back on and i have to re-format the ssd as it deletes the partition. i'm in the process of downloading a fresh windows but help would be excellent on this to clone it over

So I'm gonna be upgrading my moms laptops hdd to an ssd. The ssd came with acronis true image hd but I'm confused on how to use it to clone the hard drive. I've heard you install the ssd first then clone the hdd to the ssd, but then where is the software located and what do you boot from? A step by step process would be greatly appreciated!

so i recently got a new ssd so i wanted to try raid 0 on it with my previous ssd which is exactly the same, i backed up all my data using acronis true image 2015 and then setup my array after i got the array and everything setup i recovered my windows using the backup and but when i restarted it said inaccessible boot drive, i tried resetting that worked but of course it lost my programs, so i disabled raid and just tried to re-image one ssd to see if it was a problem with my backup file but that worked and my windows was restore, so if anyone has suggestions on how to get it working with raid 0 without loosing my stuff that would e a big help

Here's my basic question: Is there any backup software that is obtainable by an end user which offers something actually worth my time over the built-in windows backup? Specifically deduplication, or 'forever incremental' are the features I'm most interested in. Acronis rant: If you are thinking of buying Acronis True Image 2015, I'd say don't. Why? The configuration menus are designed by a smart phone user. THIS IS A PC! When I tell you "Keep no more than 3 full backup chains, and do not discard the first backup" that does NOT mean keep 4 full backups + their chains. That means keep 2 full backups, the full initial backup, and the incremental chains that follow those two backups! LEARN TO COUNT! When I configure you to delete old backups you should do this BEFORE you try to backup new data. Maybe just maybe I'm smarter than your shitty software and I can compute how much space I'll have to the MB, so long as you behave in a sane manner. If the backup drive fills during a backup you get stuck on "cannot find backup file..." and won't back ANYTHING up until I uninstall and reinstall your application. Even when I uninstall your software, it keeps running, because the uninstaller doesn't remove the files and services under program files / Common Files. For context: At my job I'm a solutions test engineer. You know how you can buy a 'solution' for SAP with Oracle DB from Oracle or Hitachi? I'm the guy that tests that solution to make sure it works. I work with enterprise backup software at least every week as a part of making sure that the backup and restore function of the solution works. Perhaps I'm spoiled by enterprise software not being made of poo, but ....goodness. Of the enterprise backup software I've seen Avamar stands out as the choice I most wish had a consumer level option. Every backup counts as a full, but it only takes incremental after the first one. It's by far my favorite B&R software to work with. Symantec Netbackup is second. It has most of the features, but each incremental still relies on the previous full so it's not as robust as Avamar. Given that there are eleventy billion backup software choices...I was hoping for some help thinning the pack on what products I should try next. Datastor PDP seems promising, I just need to actually get the trial and give it a spin. Oh, and for anyone wondering why I don't just use Avamar at home: You have to run it as a VM inside ESXi. This means that, unless you have two systems, when your PC dies you have to reinstall windows by hand, reinstall VMware Workstation (I game, so I am NOT running ESX as the base OS), reinstall avamar, recover avamar (good luck!), then restore your system. That is a royal pain. It works great in enterprises where you have the room to have avamar on its own cluster with redundancies built into other layers, but for a single PC environment...bleh. The utility of dedup comes in when it allows 'forever incremental' backups by treating each incremental backup as its own full via the dedup table.

Hey guys, please don't get scared away by the long introduction. I am thinking about getting a 1 TB SSD to finally have a single drive again and get rid of ma noisy HDD (I am very picky). The question is, how do i migrate all my data to the new SSD without reinstalling everything? I have some programs on my HDD that i can't easily get a second time so i would prefer to migrate them. I am willing to give up my Steam and Origin folders because the savegames are mostly cloud based anyways. Other than that i don't really have any crucial data on my HDD. I do have Acronis, but i don't know if it can do single program migrations. What i would've atempeted to do is clone my old 128 GB SSD to the new 1 TB SSD and then get everything from the HDD over too. The question is also, i don't know how to fuse together the Program Files and program Files X86 folders properly. I don't want to loose any registry files or straight up break my programs. Any help would be appreciated. Edit: Another big problem is Skyrim. I have Skyrim running with a lot of mods including an ENB, some manually installed mods and some Mods via NexusModManager. I am totally clueless how to migrate Skyrim over, please help.

So I got a SSD from SCAN for a friend and it came with free a code for Acronis True Image 2014 that he didn't need so I can have it (yay, Free stuff!) I went to the page on the SCAN website like the card says and downloaded the program installer from the OneDrive link, Unzipped it and ran the setup. It seemed to complete without error.. But then when I went to load up the program it just gives me this error: I have tried rebooting multiple times, I have tried re-installing the program multiple times, I even found this page the Acronis website and downloaded it again from there but still get the same error when I try to launch the program! All the files seem to be in the installation directory, At lest it looks that way anyway: Also, When I try to run the Uninstall.exe file in the program folder I just get this error 'No True Image components found'.. Even though there is a folder full of them. Does anybody have any idea what is causing me this problem? I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit SP1 with all the latest updates. Thanks for reading.
