And forgot just how annoying it was dealing with software for running live performances without the proper software and a light wallet. Wondering if there are any cheaper alternatives to the program that don't require too much manual work on mapping the lights - something more studio friendly, especially for products like Launchpad and MIDI Fighter. Last thing I want to do at this point is give Ableton my money since they removed file cross-compatibility on older versions of Live. Thanks in advance.

Which one is better for Dolby Audio mixing, HDMI or SPDIF or CINCH. Can you recommend me a sound card because my Audigy doesn't want to output RAW channels straight to my amp and I think this is a problem with Windows because my Audigy Control Panel is set to 5.1 output but in windows it only shows 2.0 Audigy Control Panel is set to 5.1 on SPDIF out but Windows Control Panel allows only 2.0 I can play Dolby Digital content but DAWs (Ableton, FL Studio, ProTools) are not capable of outputting cooked Dolby Digital signal only RAW left, right, center, left surround, right surround and low frequency effects

QUESTION? Okay, so i know what your thinking. Split the SATA, partition the drive, and boom. But this is not what I'm trying to do. I'm curious on what would happen if I took my drive to a music studio, plugged it into one of the SATA ports, go into the BIOS and turn off his boot drive and tell the computer to boot from mine instead. would it boot as if it were my PC? would it even work? WOULD SOMETHING EXPLODE!? I see an alternative that might be easier. save my programs and projects to their drive, separate of the D: drive from the C: drive, and instead of booting from that drive when its inserted into the other pc, just use the data on the drive but even though I haven't tried this I know there are dependencies such as VST's and project data in my C: drive that would prevent this from working as intended. MORE INFO! the reason why I am asking this question is that i make music on Ableton on my home PC. unfortunately, my home studio just isn't where it needs to be and I travel all over the world for shows just recently I was in Paris at a studio and my project files just were not working. VST's presents were not attached to clips but the presets are in the libraries. Audio samples were missing which I could fix using the file manager but still without the presets most of the VSTs were useless. as well as slight variations in the VST's name (ex. _Serum vs Serum) itself left some of them completely offline even though they are the same thing. also, the directories for my VST's presets are slightly different (ex. pc1 has them organized by creator vs pc2 has them organized by genre). I have decided that there is way to many paths for 1 SINGLE Ableton Project to try and get the project to work on my laptop aka pc 2 let alone an entire 75-minute album. Although I say that I have attempted to create a system that allows me to do this. Pc1 has 3 drives C: (Boot drive) D: (Project & Samples) B: (local backup for c and d). In comes drive E: (portable storage) this drive is a copy of D: all projects and samples. The C: drive on pc2 is not a clone of pc1 but contains the same dependencies (Ableton Live, All VSTs, Program DATA) as pc1. My theory was this make a portable version of the D: drive (copy files) and use the file manager to correct the paths once in Ableton. This Halfway worked. I knew going from pc1 to pc2 Ableton would load the projects and the audio samples wouldn't work because the project is looking for them in the D: drive. open file manager, auto search E: drive, save. boom audio samples working. the audio clips were in the right spot the VSTs were working but the presets for each one were missing the VST was playing the correct notes but not using the right sounds. after noticing the directory discrepancies I understood why it probably wasn't working. But this is where it gets confusing. If I do the same thing in reverse so create an entire project on pc2. save to E: drive. move over to pc1 and drag the project over. Ableton file manager. Auto search aaaaand everything works perfectly. and I'm more confused about why it DOES work than why it doesn't. This leaves me with the ability to create projects on the go when traveling and at studios, and bring them home to pc1 but this doesn't give me the ability to Bring my best works on pc1 anywhere which with me having my first studio album coming out under a major record label I need this to work as intended. So how do I do it? My Next Solution$ introducing pc3. as well as a new directory system. my idea is on pc1 move my projects and samples from D: drive onto my C: leaving me with one drive containing everything related to Ableton. C: would backup to B: giving me one local backup. and the copying from C: to E: would give me a 2nd external backup. pc3 has a C: drive that is an exact 1:1 clone of pc1 C: | move a project from E: to C: in the same place it is on pc1 | and I shouldn't even have to use the file manager. I need some guidance here, obviously. But my question is this. Can this even be done? if so how is it done normally / professionally? would my next solution Work? after 7 years of professional music, this problem needs to come to an end and i hope there is someone with the knowledge to help here.

Budget (including currency): GBP 1500-1700 (not including peripherals or monitor) Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Ableton live, Cubase, FL studio, gaming (1440p), light office work. Win10 Other details: Hi all, I'm looking to build a new rig so I can get into home music production (EDM). I currently have an ancient laptop so starting from a completely clean slate. I would also like the rig to be a fairly ok gaming setup to enable good to best graphics settings at 1440p on most top titles. The best value CPUs look to be AMD at the moment and I've been looking at 3700-3900, however there seems to be some reports of issues with Ryzen and latency for music production so many have stayed with Intel. I've seen reports that this can be negated by getting low cas (14,15,15,35 samsung B-die) 3600 ram and OCing to match infinity fabric at 3773mhz. Can anybody advise if they've had experience with this. Also looking for a mainboard that works well with DAW workload and has lots of external I/O to except external DACs controllers etc. As a non essential, also thinking white case and white and black build, however hardware suitability comes first. All help and suggestions gratefully recieved.

Hello! I was wondering if anyone out there could help me out? I am a musician that frequently goes to and from my church. I was wondering if I should buy MacBook or any type of MacBook (air, pro etc...) or build a mini itx build? or get a different laptop. some requirements would be: A machine that can run Ableton live smoothly while being able to record multiple tracks. around 12 different tracks I will need FIREWIRE capabilities or even if it has thunderbolt i can use an adapter USB will not work. I also plan to make an overkill desktop pc in the future as well to run auto cad or any other gaming, work or anything i need. That is all i ask. if anyone can please show me a low end that will run it smoothly as well as an all out build (if it's a laptop)

Hi LTT community! LTT follower on YT for a couple of years now but never really came on the forums before so new here! As it happens, my current laptop is dying fast. The GPU is fried and sending constant panick attacks. Also the motherboard is fading away so it's time for something new! For the last 10 years I've been using MacBook Pro's, mainly because I was in university. However, now that I settled and got my own apartment I'm ready to go back to a PC as my main central power hub at home. For two years I've been back working on a Windows laptop at work and also all my work related software is running on Windows anyway. Looking at the current Mac line-up I'm really not sattisfied for the 'bang for the buck' ratio + the fact that current iMacs etc don't pack the latest tech that will become very much standard in the future. Some research I've done, but if you guys could help me with the final decisions or have some great tips for me that would be very much appreciated! Here's the format as demanded : ) 1. Budget & Location 2000-2500 Euro / The Netherlands 2. Aim MAIN: Producing Music in Ableton Live 10 Suite SECONDARY: Autodesk Revit 2019, Adobe CC 2020, AutoCAD, Rhino 6 - eventually some games (FPS )but not the main point of this build 3. Monitors 2x 4K 27” possible. However, I will start with my current 27" Dell monitor (non 4K) Might get one 4K display if budget allows it at the end of the build! 4. Peripherals Not needed, all set. - Logitech MX Master 3 - Logitech K840 Mechanical Keyboard. 5. Why are you upgrading? As mentioned above: My current laptop (Macbook Pro Early 2013) is dying, constant GPU panick attacks. No money for a brand new iMac, and also the current iMacs don’t have Wifi6, Ethernet 2.5 etc and RAM / SSD is ridiculously expensive. So back to PC it is! Lastly, I don't need a laptop anymore since I am not traveling back and forth to university anymore. A PC build seems to be the logical and wise choice! 6. THE BUILD what I've come up with so far: Motherboard (help)! Personal requirements: - Ethernet 2.5Gb - USB-C 2x or more - USB 3.1/2 gen 2 as many as possible - RAM 128 GB possible, - 2x M.2. slots for adding a second SSD storage in the future (1x 2TB SSD M.2. to start with I recon)! - The possibility to add 2 Graphic Cards in the future that work together - AMD? - Wifi 6 ? CPU - AMD 8 core, Ryzen 7 3800X 3.9 GHz. - ??? Good choice? Power vs price ratio looked very attractive. Overclockable? CPU Cooling Water cooling? Fans? Memory 64GB. - Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200 MHz 4x 16GB - ??? Storage - 1x Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2 TB M.2 2280 NVME - ??? Video Card Tier B+ - High End Build, best card value performance-price. slightly overclockable Needs to be able to run CAD software fairly well and be able to render some times and use live rendering software such as Enscape (plugin for Revit). - Radeon RX580 8GB - ??? Case Simple, elegant, clean, black, metal, no RGB needed. USB-C port and USB 3.1 gen 2 ports in the front Power Supply High end. Platinum certified or better? 750 W should do? Soundcard not needed, I have an external audio interface. - Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 gen 3 USB-C
