Hey everyone, A while back I had a system configuration as follows: Coolermaster 690 II Advanced Case (Windowed) Intel Core i7 3820 @ Stock Corsair H100i Liquid Cooler Patriot Pyro 1866Mhz RAM (@ 1333) Gigabyte X79-UD3 Motherboard Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200 RPM 60GB Patriot Wildifre SSD Antec EarthWatts 750W Galaxy GTX 680 2GB Asus Xonar Phoebus Sound Card I had purchased 2x OCZ Vector 128GB SSD's to go in RAID 0 and it was all fine and dandy for a few weeks then randomly BOOM, one of them starts not being detected and I lost my data. I tried re - RAIDing it, but the same thing happened. Then I took the "faulty" SSD to my mates house and tried it in his PC and wouldn't even detect in his BIOS. I knew then it was faulty. After that I used my 1 SSD for the time being and then randomly that stops working and I tried in my mates PC and that too wasn't detecting either. My HDD has had no issues and I have tried HDD in all the SATA 6Gb/s ports, nothing happened. What could my PC be doing to kill my SSD's? Has anyone had this issue before? Thanks for reading :)

Hi, I want to ask anyone who can help how I should go about caching a HDD. Are there certain drives that are compatible? What size SSD should I use? Is this worth doing i.e. will I notice a difference?

Hi all, I've got Windows 8 Home Premium on a 60GB SSD (C:), and then all the rest of my stuff (Games, Apps & Media) on a 1TB WD Green (F:). I want to move everything on (C:) to (F:) so my computer will have everything on (F:) and boot from it. How hard will this be? Priority here is having everything on (F:) kept. Everything on C: can be deleted and reinstalled, just as long as I have (F:). I do also have a spare hard drive (G:) that I can use as a temp if I'll need to move everything from (F:) onto (G:) and then install my OS on (F:) then move everything from (G:) to (F:). Also, I'll then be using the SSD to cache my HDD, how do I go about doing this? Thanks

Earlier today I was having problems connecting to the internet with my TPLink WiFi card (Windows 8), so I tried an ubuntu live DVD and ubuntu sorted that out fine, it would connect to the network, and I could surf the web all I wanted. I then went on to try and install windows 7, which asked me for drivers to install which i didn't have. THEN I went to reboot and it said it was updating the iROG firmware somehow when I didn't have anything to update it with, so I went to go into the BIOS to boot from my SSD and then it wasn't there. I am in AHCI mode and it has been running fine for a few months, it is all plugged in correctly and I have spent all day trying to fix the damn thing. And yes I have reset the CMOS and everything. Hello guys :) So, I'm doing a new build. I'm mainly using my computer for school work, editing and rendering hd video, gaming, surfing the web n' such. So for my storage solution, I'd figure raid may be appropriate when rendering large files (I'm having 30 gb of music also that needs to be transfered to the build too, lol). Now the question is ofc. ''Raid0'' or Raid1? I really wan't the performance boost of 0, and I was wondering how big the chance is that a hard drive fails? I mean, none of my friends have had that issue. I know I'm making double the trouble cause I need at least 2 drives, but I could ofc. just back up my stuff with a CD. What do you guys think?

Hi everyone I just wanted some help, I'm thinking about putting a new HDD in my Laptop but the laptop didn't come with a Windows 8 disc or anything I have a Samsung 355V5C laptop its currently has a 750GB HDD in it and I'm thinking to put a HSSD in it from Seagate, I know the laptop has a recovery software on the computer was just wondering how would I be able to transfer data across to the HSSD I'm also thinking about getting an enclosure for the old HDD. Just wanted some advice Thanks.

I am looking to build a Raid 0 SSD raid for my games, I understand this will have no redundancy but I'm stricktly looking for performance. I need some suggestions on what SSD x3 would work the best for maximum load times/ performance. Again 3 SSD's raid 0 maximum performance. Gotta be Sata 3. HELP!

Samsung expands lead on the ssd market and intel loses about half its market share. The figures only apply to so-called ODM disks. what's your favorite ssd? http://www.sweclockers.com/nyhet/17092-intel-tappar-pa-ssd-marknaden

Hi, Thought I'd bring this to the forum despite how knowledgeable I think I may be, this is baffling me. I have a 60GB Corsair Force 3 SSD. I am running Windows 7. Windows is displaying that I only have 3 GB of space left, but through multiple programs, I can see, Including system files, that I should have around 30 GB free. I have done the following to try and make the situation better: When I installed Windows 7, I instantly removed the page file from the SSD. I also store almost every program on a HDD, not the SSD. I have not defragged the drive. I use CCleaner very often. I have reduced Recycle Bin Allocation from 4 GB to 1 GB. I have disabled file indexing. I have uninstalled un-necessary programs. I have disabled system restore. I have disabled Hibernation. Despite this, each day, it gets smaller and smaller. What I was wondering is, could the drive be at the end of it's life, I've had it for less than a year, and I believe taken good care of it :) I've heard that SSD's are meant to slow down and eventually stop working, and although the OS loads maybe 5 seconds slower than the fresh install of Windows 7, I think that is to be expected. I was hoping you guys might have some clues why roughly 30 GB of space has vanished into thin air. If not, should I get in touch with corsair and see if they can fix it? Any suggestion appreciated. Many Thanks, Max

Hey guys, My "problem" is that every time i open up firefox (running the newest version at the time 21.0) it loads forever, up to at least 10 seconds, sometimes 15 seconds. Does anyone know what is causing this problem, on every single other program on my pc, the load time is maximum 2 seconds, down to 0,5 seconds. The problem is only with firefox. You can see my specs in my signature, and I'm only using my 256 GB Plextor MP5Pro, and not any other hard drive as well. SOLVED - it turns out that the problem was the addblock plus add-on, apparently without this, it starts in 1 second. - I was subscribed to about 15 lists of filters, but I have now only got one, and it boots within seconds

I want to set up one of these in the future. Please give input on: How so I set it up and performance increases agains normal SSD's and HHD's I use a Samsung 840 as of now as a boot drive. I'm planning to buy a 2.5 inch drive for "mass storage" I'm also thinking of upgrading my ram sticks. I currently have 8gb but since the price difference between a 32gb and 16gb is only about $20usd I'd get the the 32gb. I do some rendering, monitoring hardware, monitoring stocks, multiple editing programs opened and gaming So what programs do you guys use of Ram Cache? I have heard of Ram drives but I heard boot up and shut down are SLOW. ANy of you guys have experience on this?

So I built this machine about a year ago now, and I just thought it would be nice to share. This machine is a Hackintosh and the parts that I could use were limited so the parts were chosen for ease of setup and stability. Components Motherboard - GA-H61N-USB3 CPU - Intel Core i5 2500k @ 3.5GHz GPU - EVGA GeForce GTX 550ti 8 GB Corsair RAM 32 GB OCZ Onyx SSD 500 GB Seagate Barracuda Corsair CX430 Power supply Ive went through two video cards when building this system. I initially went with a GT520 because it was known for its compatibility and it was dirt cheap, but I ended wanting more power because I got some good deals on games on steam :D so I got a 550ti. ....I have pictures of both in the system. There are some things that I do want to still upgrade, for instance I really want to replace the stock cooler. I've been looking at the H60 liquid coolers and the Intel liquid cooler because I think it looks cool, but I just can't justify blowing 60$ on something like that. If anyone has any suggestions on a good aftermarket cooler that would look great just throw out some suggestions. The motherboard I have doesn't support over clocking but I can still turn up the multiplier up to 3.7 GHz. I have done it up to 3.5 GHz but I want to get a better cooler just because I am apprehensive about how well the stock one deals with the extra heat.

So my HHD Crashed and I'm still looking for ways to RMA it, if it is even RMA-able. :| I hail from the Philippines and I found out that they don't really have an RMA unit here.. I recently got an SSD and I'm using it it for torrents as of now. I heard that SSD's have limited writes and got curios when it hit me that torrents are constants write to the drives. Will torrenting on my SSD decrease it's lifespan? :P

So found this interesting article over on TomsHardware. One SSD Vs. Two In RAID: Which Is Better? I've experienced the same with my pc (2600k ~4.6GHz, P67 Sabertooth) at home running 2x 840 128GB Pros in RAID0 and my missus's pc (3570k ~4.1GHz, P8Z77-V Pro) running a single Corsair GT 120 where I can't really tell the difference between the single and RAID0 setup in general use.

So I'm building a sweet gaming/video editing computer! And the budget is not fitting a SSD and a good mass HDD. But the HHDD looks really nice, but I want to know if it is reliable? If anyone has ever used one or is using one then please tell me! Thanks! Edit: this is not for me, this is for my friend! \ And "HHDD" is Hybrid Hard Drive Disk

Hi guys! I need to do an essay about nanotechnology and since Linus changed me into a computergeek, I thought I would make something about computers. My idea was to talk about the latest changes on data storage but specifically on hard drives, SSD's and about spintronics in the future. Could you guys help me to understand how they work? With the hard drives, I understand that it uses little magnetic fields to determine whether it's a zero or a one. But how does the needle change the magnetic field exactly? And which states equals a zero or a one? I've read once on a site, that SSD's are already making use of quantum mechanics, is this true? A sort of tunnelling effect I remembered. Thank you for the help :-)

So here is my situation. I am in the final stages of assembling my first build, I only need to install the CPU and it will be up and running. However I have never navigated the BIOS before and don't want to kill a great system with bad configuration. I recently purchased a Seagate 2TB HDD and a Corsair Neutron GTX 120GB SSD. I have never configured a system before, I don't want to screw it up. I want to put the OS and a couple of Apps/Games on the SSD and use the HDD to store the rest of the games/movies/music/pictures/other files. Over the past month or so I have done some research into things such as Raid etc but none of these solutions seem to apply to my situation. Are there any videos/advice anyone can give me that will explain installing 1 SSD and 1 HDD on an Asus Z77 better?

Hopefully soon there not as expensive as the older ones http://www.dailytech.com/Seagate+Unveils+New+SSD+Line+for+Consumers+Enterprise/article31500.htm

We all know that feeling. That breath of fresh air you get when you wipe everything and install windows. The speed, the responsiveness. It feels like a whole new machine again! But after you've gotten over that shock you're faced with what to do next. Drivers are often first up, but after that what do YOU guys like to install? With tools like ninite easily available, do you like to use them, or are you old fashioned and do it manually? Super interested to hear what you guys have to say! Personally: I configure the computer for my domain. Then I install CHROME! uTorrent StartIsBack Office Photoshop Spotify Skype Filezilla Origin (Unfortunately) and any related games Steam and any related games CPU-Z GPU-Z MSI Afterburner VLC

Hi everyone, I recently posted asking if my motherboard blew my SSD's that I had in RAID 0, but I forgot to mention also, I wanted to downlock my CPU to stock from an overclock and have the lowest volts possible. So i kept decreasing the volts slowly and slowly, until I hit a BSoD. Then I turned the volts up again and same thing happened. I did it again. BSoD again. When I cleared the CMOS on my board I lost my RAID 0 array and then after that my SSD's starting screwing up. Could that have screwed my SSD's? They were 2x OCZ Vector 128GB if that helps and my motherboard is a Gigabyte X79-UD3. Cheers :)

Hi All, I have a 60GB SSD with my copy of Windows 8 Home Premium 64-Bit on it, and I also have a 1TB HDD. I would like to move my from my SSD to me HDD, yes from SSD to HDD. The HDD is in use and has about 400GB used up, so I obviously would like to keep all of that. How can I move my operating system? It would be great if I could do this without having to partition the drive but if i have to partition the drive then I guess i'll have no choice. Please tell me what software I have to use and tell me/give me a link telling me how to do this. I would just google it, but they all talk about doing it with a brand new Drive, and I don't have one of those. Thanks.
