I've been looking at reviews these two cards and I cannot decide to on what to choose; I could have 2 680s which will run faster than the single 690, but maybe the 690 could be overclocked and be able to beat them? Plus, I could get another 690 in the future for 4 way SLI, while 680s can only work with 3 way SLI. I have also found out that a Asus 690 is £100 less than two 680s... So what path should I take?

I've had a Sapphire 6970 for a couple of years now, and I want to upgrade. I can only fit one GPU in my rig right now because the bottom radiator is too big for an SLI/Crossfire upgrade. So should I get a 660 and overclock it, or would the upgrade be pointless?

Hello I am going to tell you some basic facts on what to expect from next generation graphics cards. basic knowledge: All graphics card companies (Nvidia, AMD ext) have set price brackets so no matter what the generation graphics cards will within the same price frame performance will increase only slightly so upgrading every few years will see better performance increase Average performance increase is 12-35% The price brackets are more likely to decrease than increase (This is rare but can happen) Release dates and specs are commonly rumours and expectations (Don't trust them) unless they are officially released by the company (Nvidia, AMD ext) Each generation of graphics cards have some basic standards that have been stuck to (mostly naming/ branding) Nvidia: Enthusiast: Titan = Single GPU (Recent addition to the Nvidia Family, generally the full no BS version of the graphics family) #90 = Duel GPU (Highest priced gpu) (Lowest Price to performance/ Still a good performer though) High end Gaming: #80 = Single GPU (Flag ship model) #70 = Single GPU (Cut down version of the Flag ship model)- Best price to performance (Higher end) Mid - High end gaming: #60 TI = Single GPU (Different GPU(From experience) Flag ship model for lower standards) #60 = Single GPU (Cut down model of the #60 TI) - Best price to performance (Lower end) Lower end gaming: #50 = Single GPU (This is considered to be the budget GPU) AMD: Enthusiast: #990 = Duel GPU (Highest Priced GPU) (Lower Price to performance/ Still a good performer though) High end Gaming: #970 = Single GPU (Flag Ship) #950 = Single GPU (Cut Down version of the Flag ship model) Best price to performance (Higher end) Mid - High end gaming: #870 = Single GPU (Even more cut down version of the flag ship model / Different GPU) #850 = Single GPU (Even more cut down version of the flag ship model / Cut down version of the Different GPU) - Best price to performance (Lower End) Lower end gaming: #770 = Single GPU

Here is a link to my updated build: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Gazzer96/saved/1f7I I am getting a Nocuta CPU cooler, but I am worried about the size of the thing because the case I am going with has a large fan on the side panel; I'v done some research on how large it is and there is only going to be 200mm of space, but this does not include on how much space the fan takes up. I need to if I should get before I end up buying it. If you know any better cases for around £100/$154.87 please do tell me. I will appreciate it if you could help me out. Thanks!

AMD's own Roy Taylor Vice President of Global Channel Sales made an interesting post via twitter yesterday commenting on the release of arch rival Nvidia's GTX 770. Here is what he had to say : https://twitter.com/amd_roy/status/340200487041241088 Is AMD hinting at an upcoming release ? share your thoughts in a post below.

Hey Techies! I'm looking to get dual gtx 770's, but the only ones avalaible, from what I can see, in England is the main providers (Asus, Giggabyte and MSI) coming out with their models of the card. I was wondering if Reference cards were avaliable in England....
-
Hey Techies, I'm from England and plan to get 2 GTX 770's. I've been looking at release prices; around $400 each. This is about £264 - a very reasonable price! But! When I view the prices in england, they are around £360... Are graphics cards more expensive over here for a reason? Also, with the £200 buffer on getting two, does anyone know if I import from America/Canada (NCIX, yo!) if it would be cheaper overall. Remembering export costs, tax differences, shipping etc. And also the fact that if a card is damaged, getting it back over to America would be.... difficult Thanks ever so much Techies!

AMD has released its Catalyst 13.6 beta graphics driver, and it fixes a number of issues under both Windows 8 and Linux. The new beta driver is also compatible with the existing Catalyst 13.5 CAP1 (Catalyst Application Profile) which improves performance of several PC games. As far as the Windows version of the graphics driver, Catalyst 13.6 adds OpenCL GPU acceleration support to Adobe's Premiere Pro CC software and enables AMD Wireless Display technology on systems with the company's A-Series APUs and either Broadcom or Atheros Wi-Fi chipsets. AMD has also made a couple of tweaks to its Enduro technology, including correctly identifying when a Metro app idles and offloading the corresponding GPU tasks to integrated graphics instead of a discrete card. The new beta driver also resolves an issue with audio dropout over HDMI. On the Linux side of things, Catalyst 13.6 beta adds support for the following when using AMD's A10, A8, A6, and A4 APUs: Ubuntu 13.04 Xserver 1.14 GLX_EXT_buffer age The driver fixes several bugs as well, including resolving black screen and corruption issues under TF2, an issue with OpenGL applications and VSYNC, and UVD playback issues where the taskbar would disappear and/or the system would experience a noticeable performance drop while playing a UVD in XBMC. You can grab the new beta driver from the AMD website. Source : http://news.softpedia.com/news/AMD-Releases-Catalyst-Graphics-Driver-Version-13-6-Beta-Download-Now-356612.shtml

Sony is calling it "Remote Play" & it's been confirmed, you will be able to stream PS4 games to your PS Vita similarly to what Nvidia is trying to do with Shield & streaming PC games. Shuhei Yoshida head of Sony Worldwide Studios said on twitter : Source : http://news.softpedia.com/news/PlayStation-4-Games-Will-Have-Either-Vita-Remote-Play-or-Eye-Features-Report-356769.shtml Sony is said to demand mandatory support from PS4 game developers for this feature. http://www.slashgear.com/ps4-said-to-demand-mandatory-ps-vita-remote-play-29284085/

I am thinking about coming back to the world of handheld gaming after the many years when I used to have the Nintendo DS (which I hated), but what should I choose? I am struggling to choose between the Nvidia Project Shield and the PS vita; lots have said the PS Vita has stunning visuals, but I have also seen that Nvidia Project Shield has good visuals as well on both streaming from the PC and the games made especially for the handheld console, plus the battery life is said to at least last 8 hours when in use. When you tell me that I should go with this or that make sure you give a reason why I should; please don't say something like 'get XXXXX because it is better' because that tells me nothing. If you need to know, I am planning to get a handheld console sometime between this Christmas and mid time of 2014. Help will be appreciated! :)

Hey Linustechips Forum, I'll be switching from a EVGA 650ti SSC to an AMD 7870 tahiti LE card, and since the two drivers may interfere with one another some people recomend using a cleanup program called "driver sweeper." Also, others recomend this method can cause missing DLL issues and other deletion of essential windows .INI files. When swapping out the cards the common concensus was 1. Unistall the drivers (nvidia) and all other nvidia related software, and restart 2. startup using safemode and run driver sweeper to avoid possible tampering with windows files, and restart alternative step 2. manually delete all nvidia drivers, files, dll related nvidia entries, and restart What is the best route to take? There has to be someone out there who is switching cards quite frequently, and I'd rather not reinstall my windows partition

There is an SKU missing between the 8970 & the 8950 , seeing as how only the 8970 is using the 420mm2 GPU, not sure what to take from that, there is bound to be a cut down version of this 420mm2 die in the binning process & AMD must sell those in some form. This leak also clashes with previous rumors that indicated AMD will be completely skipping the 8000 series & going to the 9000 series. It also clashes with AMD's own claims that the 7000 series will remain the main focus for AMD up to Q3 of this year. So all in all, I would take this leak with a grain of salt, however it's worth mentioning that this leak came from the exact source that leaked both the 780 & the 770, so there might be some truth to this. AMD is single-handedly responsible for all three next-gen consoles. Although it's known for being cost-friendly to consumers, it drove a hard bargain with Microsoft for its Xbox One. Former AMD Vice President Bob Feldstein has the following posted on his LinkedIn profile: It adds: Bob Feldstein now works at Nvidia, AMD's biggest competitor, who tried to strike a deal with Sony and Microsoft but was unsuccessful due to higher pricing. It is presently unknown how costly Sony's deal with AMD was, but it is reasonable to think it's even more than $3 billion given the PS4 has a more powerful GPU and what AMD has stated is the best physics processing of all three platforms. Both the PS4 and Xbox One will utilize an eight-core processor with an integrated GPU. Both are presumed to be clocked at around 2.0GHz lending plenty of processing power for next-gen experiences. Is it possible that this is the info the former AMD employees were looking for after they allegedly stole 150.000 documents & fled to Nvidia. Razer is a company known for its gaming peripherals and for its ‘cult of Razer’ Branding. It is slightly less well known as a manufacturer of tablets and pc’s. They tested the waters by teasing a new line of product called the switchblade which was a netbook sized ‘gaming’ pc in early 2011. That never actually hit the market but what did was Razer’s Blade notebook that hit shelves in early 2012 and was refreshed in late 2012. Well another refresh was just announced and I am thoroughly impressed. Packed with the latest gen Intel CPU’s and high end 700 series GPU’S from Nvidia it’s sure to be a great performer. That’s all fine and dandy, but why am I so impressed? Well it’s the fact that it’s thinner than Apples MacBook Air. I actually didn't think anything like this was achievable but Razer has engineered a special cooling system to keep the monster well ventilated, after all a laptop is useless if it scalds you when you use it on your lap. It’s 14’’ with a 1600X900 display and weighs 4.1 Lbs. As expected with a notebook this small the storage is completely flash based with the base storage set to be a 128GB Msata ssd which should make windows 8 even snappier. The starting price comes at a premium $1,799 and it is set to be released later in Q2. Here are a full list of system specs taken from Razer, try not to drool too much. Processor Future 4th gen Intel® Core™ processor (formerly codename Haswell) Memory 8GB onboard memory (DDR3L-1600MHz) Graphics and Video NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 765M (2GB GDDR5 VRAM, Optimus™ Technology) Display 14.0" HD+ 16:9 Ratio, 1600x900, with LED backlight Storage 256GB SATA III SSD Power Compact 150W Power Adapter Built-in 70Wh rechargeable lithium-ion polymer battery Communications Killer™ Wireless-N 1202 (802.11a/b/g/n + Bluetooth® 4.0) Size and Weight Width: 13.6” / 345mm Depth: 9.3" / 235mm Height: 0.66"/ 16.8mm Weight: 4.1 lbs / 1.88kg Operating System Windows® 8 (64-Bit)

I've been waiting for the 700 series to come out to buy a reduced priced 660 TI..but it's been forever and I kind of don't want to wait anymore. How much will the 660 TI's price drop when the 700 series comes out anyway? If it's less than a $50 price drop I'll just buy a 660 TI now. Should I wait a little longer or not? I've had the money for a while already.
