Hello everyone, A few months ago I bought a DP cable to connect my new monitor with. I turned my PC off and plugged in the cable. When I pressed the power button, my PC ran for a few seconds and then turned off spontaneously. It did that a few more times until I forcefully shut it off and unplugged the DP cable. After that it booted up normally and without problems. The issue is that the PC has been "acting weird" ever since then. For example, right after the aforementioned incident, I plugged in the new monitor with an DP->HDMI adapter (GPU, DP out - adapter - HDMI cable - HDMI in, monitor) and I plugged in the old one into HDMI on my GPU. It wouldn't turn on that way at all. When I switched the monitors around (the DP thing didn't go into the new monitor - it went into the old one, and the same with the HDMI), it booted up normally and has been working well (as long as I don't reconnect the cables) until yesterday. Yesterday was the day I bought the game Playerunknown's Battlegrounds. I played it for about 20 minutes on medium settings, with random black screen interference that lasted <1 second. At the end of those 20 minutes, my old display stopped receiving data from the GPU (it was showing a black screen, but it was still turned on). The new display started periodically showing a few black frames. I panicked and exited the game. A few seconds later the display situation returned back to normal. I believe heat was the issue, but unfortunately I wasn't monitoring it so I'm not 100% sure. This morning I tried to play the game again, but this time it simply quit after a few seconds. No error messages or anything. This time I kept an eye on the temperature - 80 Celsius on the GPU at all times since the game reached the main menu. I decided to open up my PC and clean it thoroughly (mostly because it was dusty and this was quite good motivation to clean it). After I carefully removed the GPU I cleaned it's PCI-E connectors (as well as the PCI-E slot on the Mobo) with a paintbrush and compressed air. I cleaned it's fans as well. After reinstalling the GPU I tried to turn on the PC but it didn't work because I forgot to plug in the power to the GPU. It worked normally (or rather, as it has worked until yesterday). I tried playing the game once again, monitoring the temps and all. This time the temp reached 75 Celsius. But, unfortunately, after a few seconds problems started... I'm sorry that I forgot to record a video of what was happening, so I'll try to describe the situation to the best of my ability: Suddenly, after sitting in the main menu, my new display turned off (stopped receiving from the GPU) and the programs started "shifting" to the old display as if the new one has been unplugged. They then started randomly moving back and forth between the displays (at least I think they moved back to the new one, as I couldn't see it because it was "off"). At one point I decided to press CTRL+ALT+DEL and try to open Task Manager so I could kill the game's process. Unfortunately, the mouse cursor kept resetting to the middle of the old display so I wasn't able to click the Task Manager button (the ctrl-alt-del window was open on the old display at all times). Finally, I decided to shut down the PC via the reset button on the case. After resetting it worked normally. I have no idea what the issue is or was, I'm quite lost. This is the only game in which this happened (I tested GTA V, War Thunder, Payday 2, Elite Dangerous and Argo, and they all worked fine). Other programs and general things (Chrome, Code::Blocks, etc.) do not cause such problems. Additionally, I tried reinstalling the drivers but it didn't help. System Specifications: OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (10.0, Build 15063) GPU: PALIT GeForce GTX 970 JetStream (4096MB GDDR5) CPU: Intel i7-4790K @4.00Ghz with a Coolermaster Hyper T4 Ram: 16GB DDR3 in 2 sticks Primary display (the "new" one): AOC G2460VQ6, 1920x1080 60Hz Secondary display (the "old" one): LG (I don't know the exact model), 1360x768 60Hz ------------------------------------------- If any additional information is required (or if something was badly written, etc.) I will happily provide it in an edit. So i just bought a BenQ 2420T. What are peoples view on this monitor, is it any good? From what i could tell from the spec it looks pretty good hence why i bought it.

Hey guys i currently have a ASUS GTX 660 DirectCU 2 OC , I play Battlefield 3 and currently getting around 70fps, but im looking into getting a second monitor for browsing webpages and youtube while im gaming. Will this significantly effect the frame rate in game. Specs -8Gb of corsair vengeance ram - i5 3570K

Guys could someone tell me what type of panel(TN,IPS,VA,PLS etc) does my Samsung SyncMaster B2230 use? I tried finding it online but to no avail. I know there are visual tests that help determine what panel but I would really like to see a proper source that tells me exactly what type it has got. Please help. Thank you.

On the ASUS Republic of Gamers Facebook page, it has been revealed that they are coming out with a 4K display of their own, the PQ321 True 4K UHD Monitor. So far, they have revealed that it have a resolution of 3840x2160 with an aspect ration of 16:9. It is going to be on a 31.5" screen size with LED-backlit using an IGZO display. At the back of the monitor you can see that it has 2 HMDI inputs and 1 DisplayPort input with a headphone and microphone pass-through. With that DisplayPort, I'm most certain it will be at 60Hz. No pricing has been announced but if it will be within the $1000-$1500 price range, I might just consider getting one myself. So I have been having this problem for about 6 months, and have been trying to avoid it, now it has gotten to the point where I really want to fix it. It all started when I got my new computer, my monitor had worked perfectly fine when I turned it on, no lag on turning it back on. Then when I turn it off with the new computer it is a pain. I did find some solutions, such as turning the monitor on, unplugging it, plugging it back in and sometimes it worked fast, sometimes not at all, sometimes 10-15 minutes. Another way that always works is putting my monitor to sleep, with the shortcut fn+f2 on my keyboard, but with windows 8 I have to log in every time, and I need a password for security reasons. It is probably not my graphics drivers, as I have them all updated. So what could it be? I have tested my monitor with a vga, and hdmi cable. None seem to make a difference. Monitor Model: HP 2459m 1080p, 60hz 16:9 This isn't a high-priority problem, just can get really annoying when someone turns it off. Thanks in advance, though.

Would you rather have one bigger monitor (to your liking) or a triple monitor setup? (only for gaming, for productivity we all know who wins) I prefer one big one because the bezel will always ruin immersion and the monitors make me motion sick.

Hi, I'm in the market for a new monitor. Around the £250 ($380) mark. Must be at least 27' in size and VESA Mount compatible. I would prefer it to be Anti Glare too. Not bothered about any resolutoion above 1920x1080 as I don't have the money for a 2560x1600 resolution monitor at the minute. I've been looking at the incredible Asus MX279H (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-MX279H-Widescreen-Multimedia-SonicMaster/dp/B00A4K9KBQ/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=2WVUECVWUE1C2&coliid=I1WFO9RI8HSY2U ) but it doesn't have a VESA Mount and the stand isn't adjustable. So anything with the same spec but with a VESA Mount would be amazing. I am open to all suggestions!

Hey Guys My birthday is next week and i have a budget of around £500 i have already purchased a new heatsink and spent £60 i ahve 440 left... what i need help with is a really highly recommened 1080p monitor for video editing, a Good Cherry mx blue Gaming keyboard with backlight, and a large Gamign mouse pad... preferrably somthing like a razer golithus alpha control edition... preferrably as cheap as chumps thanks Blair

Hey all. So i have now really gotten tired of my TV (my monitor) sitting on my desk with large foot and after a cleaning session i spotted which i believe are VESA mounts. I just like some to double check that I am correct in my belief. Thanks Image below

Are Samsung TVs actually the best, I've never actually owned one I've always found LG to be a good brand for Tvs and monitors. Also if they are the best does this continue over to there PC Monitors? What do you think is the best TV Brand?

Hi everyone, I would first like to apologise if another topic already exists regarding this, I did take 5 minutes to look through the sub-forum for information but did not find a suitable candidate for my particular needs. As the title says, I was wondering if anybody could recommend a particular monitor suitable for both gaming and graphical design work that would be used in a 3-way display solution for Nvidia surround. I understanding that pin-pointing a price-range is difficult, so anything you can come up with will be appreciated. As you can probably gather by the fact I am making this thread, I am not exactly the most tech-savvy guy when it comes to monitors and will most-likely end up regretting choices made by myself. I hope one of you lovely people will be better educated than I on the matter If possible, I would prefer monitors with thin bezels, a resolution of at least 1920x1080 and which don't have a rather large gap between the back of the monitors and the stand such as the PB278Q 27" from Asus; this can be seen below. So I am building an HTPC for my dad and I convinced him to get a monitor instead of using his old TV. Would a higher refresh rate monitor affect the quality of sports being broadcast on cable/satellite? I had the ASUS VG248QE in mind, but am looking for others, so suggestion are welcome.
