This is my custom water cooled rig. I built it over about a year and 3 months and am still making adjustments and upgrades as new tech is released. I started out with a Fractal Design Define R3 Case and soon realized it wouldn't be enough to house all the hardware I planned on throwing into my rig but I lived with it for awhile. The first revision of my PC was an Asus Crosshair IV Formula MB with an AMD Phenom X6 CPU, and an Asus 6950 GPU and and Intel X-25M 80GB boot SSD. I ran with that config for a couple months or so and decided to throw another 6950 in to up the GPU horse power. The build was originally air cooled with a Cooler Master V6 Heat Sink. Fairly soon after I had finished the first revision of my build the FX Series came out and not long after the 7000 series ATI cards came out, so just like most other enthusiast I had to have the latest and greatest... in my price range of course. After a bit of saving I upgraded the MB and the CPU and chassis to what I have now. After tax returns I decided I'd pick up a 7970 and a larger capacity SSD for my boot. That's when I ended up with 120Gig that is currently in my system. After a bit of research and price hunting I decided to water cool my entire build and push it to the max. That's when I ended up with the Koolance setup I have. Building your own rig is a fun and involved hobby that I've enjoyed greatly. I'm going to continue to upgrade and tune my PC. I found a great deal on NCIX.com (CANADA) for a 7870 ASUS for 249.99 including shipping and tax! This also includes Tomb raider, FC3 Blood Dragon, Bioshock Infinite. I decided to go against the Tahiti le or whatever it is for the reason of my future build using a ASUS MOBO and the GPU tweak utility and the MSI card of this GPU wasnt what I was looking for in terms of looks. :) http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=73627&promoid=1304

i got my self a ASUS XONAR DX sound card so i can enjoy my music and movies the way they are supposed to. and also to have some decent recording quality.( yes i know its not a Pro grade card but ill explain my reasoning later) so before this sound card i used to have a M-Audio 2496 sound card this is basically a pro grade sound card that wont need you to sell a part of your body. but nonetheless it had awesome recording quality. but after a while what i discovered is that it was good for monitoring and mixing audio but it was limited in terms of other little thing that comes with all the consumer grade cards like more than stereo channels and etc. now that i have this card i have almost the same recording quality but not having to compromise any listening enjoyment. i do not use 5.1 or 7.1 set up what i have is 2 very high quality speakers(3 way with up to 500w each) from JVC (yes these are more than 10 years old but sounds better than any thing else i have tried) i have them connected to a Creative Labs Sub-Woofer.( soon getting a proper Amplifier) with out going to all the boring and meaning less specification or number that a real sound card or any audio equipment should have i will go with whats the differences i can hear. when comparing to the on-board sound its a 100% better in every way. much clear and more pronounced trebles (using the hell out of that 1 inch twitter on the speakers) and with the software you can use the 10 band EQ to change it to the levels you want. the advantage of this apposed to having it in on the player is, this applies across every sound source even YouTube. Bass sound much better and deep and does not mask out other sounds like the highs or the middles so you you wont have to struggle to listen to the voice of the singer or the actor. as for recording, when used with proper equipment i was able to get good recording quality.(not going for the studio quality. just want some thing that does not make the music or the voice sound flat or add more than wanted white noise) so all in all the point is its a good Card but to really take full advantage of it you will need the rest of the proper audio equipment. at least a good pair of Headphones is a good starting point. hope i don't sound like some one that talks "carp" but i really do know what i am talking about, just don't know who to put it in to words. if any one have any thing else to add or to correct me please don't hesitate.

I've been looking at reviews these two cards and I cannot decide to on what to choose; I could have 2 680s which will run faster than the single 690, but maybe the 690 could be overclocked and be able to beat them? Plus, I could get another 690 in the future for 4 way SLI, while 680s can only work with 3 way SLI. I have also found out that a Asus 690 is £100 less than two 680s... So what path should I take?

I am looking to get a monitor to replace my current 1440 x 900 display (playing games at this resolution doesn't give my 7950 justice :P) So I am torn between two monitors Monitor 1: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005MHMEFA/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE Monitor 2: http://www.amazon.co.uk/VE247H-Widescreen-Response-Intelligence-Technology/dp/B004T2LMP2/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1367422489&sr=8-5&keywords=acer+24+inch+monitor I originally planed to get the Ultrasharp because I love the stand which comes with it, having height adjustments may be very useful for my setup, but after reading a few reviews, people said that the matte coating can wash out colours, making them look grainy. Is this true and how much of an effect will it have, if any, when gaming/photoshopping/editing? I also went for the U2212HM because I don't feel I need a monitor bigger than 24 inches as I am relatively close to my desk, but the Acer had a great price for that monitor at 24 inches, so is there much of a difference between the sizes too when gaming/editing. Thanks for your time :)

And maybe you guys know some other branded GTX 660 Ti that may be good too? I need help :P

Hello i'm having problems with my new Razer Kraken Pro headset i got a couple of days ago, whenever I try to use the mic on skype it refuses to work. I'm using a sound card a Asus xonar DG, I made sure the headset was plugged into the back correctly and the card picks it up but when i speak nothing goes through. I have tried messing with settings in the sound manager and in the actual sound card software but no luck. So far the option Line In works but it's way to quite and there is no way to further turn up the volume and it's strange because the first day i had my headset it was working through the Microphone option but now it won't. Sorry I know this is a bit long but any help is appreciated! >.< Specs Asrock Z68 pro3 gen3 Intel Core i5 2500k Samsung 840 Pro 128G SSD Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 OC Asus Xonar DG 5.1 Seagate Barracuda 500G Corsair HX750w 80+ Gold Kingston Hyperx 4x2 8GB kit

So, SD card reader had always worked great. Just recently though, one card got stuck and fell apart in side the reader (I didn't break it while it was inside, it seems like it was already in bad shape), Anyways, after a while, I finally got the bad card out. A few weeks later, (yesterday) I tried a card from my camera.. and I could not access it. In both Windows 7 and Linux Ubuntu, when I plugged in the flash drive, it would detect it as an SD/MMC Card, but it would not allow me to access it. When I'd click on the card that popped up in "Computer" it would say to: "Please insert a disk into SD/MMC (G:)" When I attempt to open the cards in Linux, nothing works either. I've tried multiple SD cards, none work. But they do work when I use them in cameras or other readers. I think it is fairly obvious that it is a hardware related issue. But I'm wondering what my options are for repare or replacement guides. Thanks,

Here is a link to my updated build: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Gazzer96/saved/1f7I I am getting a Nocuta CPU cooler, but I am worried about the size of the thing because the case I am going with has a large fan on the side panel; I'v done some research on how large it is and there is only going to be 200mm of space, but this does not include on how much space the fan takes up. I need to if I should get before I end up buying it. If you know any better cases for around £100/$154.87 please do tell me. I will appreciate it if you could help me out. Thanks!

Thanks for the help Cally G Killa

On the ASUS Republic of Gamers Facebook page, it has been revealed that they are coming out with a 4K display of their own, the PQ321 True 4K UHD Monitor. So far, they have revealed that it have a resolution of 3840x2160 with an aspect ration of 16:9. It is going to be on a 31.5" screen size with LED-backlit using an IGZO display. At the back of the monitor you can see that it has 2 HMDI inputs and 1 DisplayPort input with a headphone and microphone pass-through. With that DisplayPort, I'm most certain it will be at 60Hz. No pricing has been announced but if it will be within the $1000-$1500 price range, I might just consider getting one myself. Been looking at computers and I know Haswell is coming up. But I was thinking to myself Ivy Bridge though not much improvement, But at least its now USB 3.0 enabled and has better Watt performance than Sandy. But would you want a laptop that can run SLi with lousy screen aspect ratio? Or would you rather have a tad bit older gen graphics card with a full HD display?

From Anadtech about Asus new UEFI bios functions. What do you guys think about these new functions? Overclockers might like them XD

Hey guys, first of all i would like to thank you all in advance. On the last Cyber Monday I bought a new computer consisting of an Asus P8 Z77-V LK motherboard and 16GB (2x8GB) of Corsair Vengeance. Since the day I finished building it my computer will freeze randomly, but if any audio is playing it will continue playing as a loud humming noise. I did some research and found out the memory I have isn't actually compatible with the motherboard. I'm sick of putting up with it and am going to buy new RAM, but before I do I need help choosing compatible RAM. Could anyone point me in the right direction? I'm a moderate gamer, but also do a bit of video editing for friends, so I would like it to be 16GB of dual channel if possible. Thank you again for any help you may be able to provide, - Owl.

So, I'm looking as getting some Bronze BX2 Speakers, I already have an Asus Xonar Essence STX sound card. So, here's my question, will these two products be compatible? I've done some research and it seems I would require an AMP as well? However, I'm very inexperienced in this area, any help and advice would be very helpful. PS If I do require an AMP, can anyone recommend an AMP? Hopefully not too expensive? Thanks!

I run Unigine Valley Benchmark and only got 3-4 Fps on my HD 7970. The AMD CCC shows the activity of the card is 100% but the power is 0%...Why?

Hello, as I am getting a GeForce GTX 780 in the next few days, I am trying to sell my "old" graphics card. Asus GeForce GTX 680 4GB. It overclocks pretty well, and as said has got 4 GB of memory making it very attractive for use with high resolution displays. It comes packaged in the original box with all the accessories (manual, drivers disk, SOFT FOAM) and it is pretty much new, as it has been used for only 2 month. Here is a link to Asus' website showing all the specs of the card. Here is a link to the Overclocking Database showing some benchmarks and what the card is capable of. As new 4 GB 770's, which are basically what this card is when overclocked cost around 450€/500$, I would be happy if I could still get about 400€/450$ for it. Just though I throw this out to the community, before I put it on ebay. EDIT: I did not know that selling on this forum is not allowed. I am sorry. Please lock this thread.

I'm looking to upgrade my build and was wondering if the Asus Sabertooth was worth the extra money over the GD65 (It is around £70 [$105] more). What would the extra money be going towards on the board. I'm not too fussed about the looks of the board and my case doesn't have a side panel. The CPU to go with the board I'm looking to get is an i7 3770k, just for additional information. Thanks for your help!

It's a very nice card. My only complaint with it is the SLI connector. I know this card will still work with other 670s, but why even bother adding it to the custom PCB if this card was designed for a ITX system? I guess you can say that the small things get to me.

I am thinking of buying a few Nocuta NF-F12 PWM fans for an upcoming build that I will be making this summer. They are currently only $20 on NCIX US and I was going to pick up a few. What I was wondering if is if there is any compatibility issues with PWM fans. I am looking to probably buy an Asus board, most likely the Maximus V Gene. Before I buy them I wanted to make sure they would be compatible with that board or any motherboard for that matter. So are there any compatibility issues or other problems that could come up with those fans and Asus motherboards? Also, can the Maximus V Gene control both 3 pin and PWM fans? Thanks!
