So my system has a gtx 980 g1, which is a pretty old card. It's about 7 years old. This is my first GPU and I got it second hand. I just want some advice about GPU usage. I've been playing games and monitoring my system with MSI afterburner and I cant help but feel nervous when my GPU is runs at 99% (but the temps are steadily at 70-75C). Sometimes I'll drop down the settings in game and set a 60 fps limit to ensure that I don't stress it out too much. I want this GPU to last at least a few years, at least until the market isn't whack. So is it alright for my GPU to run at high usage?

TL;DR In my haste to get back up and running from a mysterious code that appears upon power on of a sandy bridge system; I ordered a Skylake component list; then to find out that the issue may not be that big [I need forum help on this part] Should I return the Skylake parts? Does this issue have some kind of stability implications? Lately my current system has been pretty unreliable and weird - i5-2500K on a MSI B75 P45 Corporate Stable Model Motherboard - Build date Sep 30 - 2013 A code 99 appears at the bottom right of the screen and lasts enough time for me to lose momentum on the work I do - I freelance - multiple browsers - million tabs open, skype, google docs, video, graphics, sound editing, database building etc - the machine is just an all round work horse. When the code first appeared, I couldn't find a direct answer to what exactly it meant - today I found a few posts on this forum dated 2015 that discussed the issue. Here and Here - this forum post contains a link to the MSI forum where it was indicated by a mod that 99 for MSI meant - "Super I/O initialization" and the forum post went on to add no more than "if its skipping them all quickly its fine!" Before I found this little bit of info, I had already put the system through a battery of troubleshooting tests - tested each stick of ram in each slot one at a time and tested states with and without GPU, SSD, USB, Front Panel etc. The tests revealed that the DIMM3 and DIMM4 slots when occupied, would not allow the PC to boot - this was unrelated to 99 however because....... The code still appears and persists for solid periods of time - therefore based on the MSI post "it is not fine" Amidst all this confusion - I placed an order on components for a replacement Skylake build [migration from Sandy Bridge] - but here I am making this post on the mysterious 9-code-spewing-system [it boots into windows...eventually] - what am I to do here - I'd be burning significant bank if I go ahead and keep the Skylake parts and start from scratch with a new set of unknown variables ----- or I can try to get to the bottom of shady 99 and understand if that's fixable OR I can just trash this system and fully migrate to Skylake on the hope that I will have a system that's going to last me 1000 years and enable me to earn a damn living. Here goes: Should I cancel that order ? - tell me why Can this issue be fixed? Should I put up with a stalled boot for 20 minutes each time I have to boot up again and chug along until a new build is ABSOLUTELY NEEDED?

Basically this is what happened. I replaced the TIM on my brothers 770 (Asus direct CU 2 if it matters) and plugged it back in. During that time I also unplugged and plugged back in the front usb. When I went to boot it would only go to the BIOS and the keyboard/mouse didn't connect. After resetting the CMOS battery I was able to get the peripherals working but I've had no luck on the getting past BIOS front. I read on a tweaktown article that error 64 can be fixed by loosening the cpu cooler so I tried that (Noctua D14) But it didn't help. I need some help here, can't think of anything else @Droidbot @CUDA_Cores @Energycore Appreciate any help/advice.

System Configuration: CPU: I7 4790K GPU: GTX 980ti RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 16 GB (4 X 4GB) at 2133 MHz PSU: Corsair RM850 MOBO: Asus Maximus 7 Hero (BIOS Version 3201) Symptoms: I wanted to restart my computer to boot into linux instead of windows, and got postcode 99 (Super IO Initialization) after power cycling. I wasn't able to get into the bios anymore, and after reading some other posts online I decided to remove all I/O devices (hard drives, optical drive, GPU, ethernet, USB ports, etc.) and see if that would fix it. It did not. I then tried doing a BIOS flashback to the newest stable release, but no dice. Are there any other things I should try? I am just confused because my computer was running perfectly fine in Windows 10 before I rebooted. Thanks in advance.

My mobo (msi z170 gaming m5) normally start in 30s and from a few week back now start in 2 min or more, i check the postcode and surprise !!! The secuence 9c,99,a2 is very slow, stuck in a2 and the secuence repeat again and stuck in a2 for a few secon, maybe 20~40s, after that show the splash screen bios and start normal and worked like always on windows. If i try to enter the bios, he take one minute or two to open (very very slow), and work very slow, is impossible work on the bios, even move the mouse. I am very worried because i readed many thread to finding fix , and nothing. i know means the postcode sequence thanks to this site. i tried many solutions like: - updated the bios to the last version (40 min to update WTF !!) - clear CMOS - take off the battery and wait for a 5 min - checking in slow mode - unplugging all usb stick - unplugging the video card - unplugging the wifi card - unplugging all hard drives - disconnect all parts - checking all memory ram one by one - checking all hard drives one by one in one occasion when i disconnected all parts she boot in 30s for a few time, but after a while i restart to check and the curse come back, jejeje. Again disconnect all parts and nothing, boot slowing again. this is my pc: - i7 6700K - msi z170 gaming m5 - 16GB Corsair Vengance LPX 2400 - ASUS STRIX NVIDIA 1070 - Samsumg EVO 850 120Gb - Wester Digital Caviar Green 1Tb - Wester Digital Caviar Blue 3Tb - TP-LINK wifi card Please any sugestions to my curse ? thanks a lot.

Hey guys so, recently I got all my pc parts in over the weekend but was stopped by a error code on the Asus Formula VIII the error is 99 for Super initialization according to the manual. I have to my knowledge done nothing out of sorts or wrong building the pc, things went smoothly. I removed all unnecessary parts and left only my cpu, m.2 950 and 1 stick of ram. When i power my pc on all fans except the ones on my h115I turn on but the h115i does not even light up almost like it has yet to reach that part of boot or does not have power? The motherboards other fan headers work and plugging in a old cpu fan (i didnt mount it just testing the power to the cpu fan) it did turn on the moment the computer was turn on. : When I Boot: I never see a bios screen the monitor connected by to the onboard motherboard stays black then the motherboard goes thru flashing codes until it stops on 99, the light on the board goes to boot. During this time the H115I never lights up or begins to spin its fans. What i have tried: Cmos removal, reinstalling every single component. I have check the cpu and pins and i see no damage. What i will try after work today: I will update or "flash the bios" If this does not work i fear something is broken and a dreaded RMA process. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I really want to see this thing come together after all the waiting and saving i have done! I have no problems uploading some pictures or video but it would be late tonight before i can do so. Alright so, I recently bought A new rig, without a graphics card So I built it and everything outside the case and when I start it it gives me a 99 q code and the orange led next to the 24 pin lights up and my screen goes to sleep I disconnected my HDD and SSD and removed ram and the problem still is going I tried everything please help me I'm desperate Specs are I7 6700k Asus Maximus Viii Gene 16 GB ram DDR4 corsair LPX 2666Mhz H80i GT CPU cooler RM 650 PSU 128 gb Samsung pro SSD 1tb HDD

Ok, first post! My Build: i7-4770k 3.8Ghz ASRock z87 extreme6 16GB DDR3 G.Skill 2133 GTX 970 FTW 2.0 Corsair H100i GTX 2x 1TB HDD 32MB, 7200rpm 120GB EVO 840 250GB EVO 950 Corsair RM750 I randomly get a POST code of 99 when I boot my computer up randomly (the system stalls at the bios screen). I have learned that the error code 99 means that "Problem related to PCI-E devices. Please re-install PCI-E devices or try installing them in other slots. If the problem still exists, please remove all PCI-E devices or try using another VGA card". I have tried each of my 3 PCIe slots with the random POST 99 still occuring, I originally was using a GTX 760 with the same POST 99, and the only issue on the MOBO is that one of my USB 3.0 headers has a broken pin (which prevents 1 of the ports from not functioning at all). Now 1-2 of my USB 3.0 ports directly from the MOBO do not function / function sporadically. I have just done a clean install of my OS (Win 7 Pro x64). I also flashed my bios to the newest version and it seemed to only make matters worse, luckily my MOBO has dual BIOS, so I was able to use my alt BIOS config. Does anyone have an idea as to why I am getting a POST 99 error code, my faulty USB 3.0 ports on the MOBO, or if the USB 3.0 Header is causing a short when its plugged in? Thanks all for any knowledge you can provide! EDIT: I have cleared the CMOS as well.

Hello I have got a new motherboard for Christmas and I am getting mulipul errors the error 99 comes on and the VAG light stays on and also the boot light there is no output to the screen. The motherboard is an ausu hero 6

My friend and I put together his new pc with an a8 apu and msi motherboard. But evertime we try to boot it up we get a black screen with the digits 99 in the bottom right hand corner. Any ideas on how to fix this?
