Okay so I have a Asus Strix 980 Ti, which is an absolutely massive 305 mm card that sags significantly past the edge of my motherboard. I purchased an anti-sag bracket online (the bracket screwed into the pci slot cover/I/O pieces on the back of my case and acted as a firm horizontal bar meant to hang out and support the bottom of my GPU) but it conflicted with the fans on the cooler and was ultimately unusable on my card. I considered the bracket Lian Li sells which screws into the two lower-middle screws on an ATX motherboard (which I have) but I have an M.2 slot in the way. I just want to reduce the sag because it makes me very uncomfortable and I'm worried it will bend and warp my motherboard (or break my PCI-E slot) over time. I considered water cooling but to be honest custom water cooling is outside my budget. So I saw the Kraken G12 from NZXT and thought about AIO cooling, but many of the AIOs on the "supported" list are discontinued/overpriced IMO. To be honest I'm at a loss. I thought about using the Kraken G12 mounting hardware for an air cooler but I don't know if this will work and can't find any documentation about it. I've seen people secure CPU air coolers to GPUs but these usually are not securely mounted or require a drill press/aluminum cutting equipment like a laithe. I just want to get some weight off of the end of my card, so it doesn't droop and put strain on my motherboard. Close to the back (and the mounting points of the card) my GPU feels very secure so maybe putting the weight closer to the I/O is a good thing? What are your suggestions? Anyone know if the G12 mounting hardware is able to support air coolers? Thank you all for your help. Opened up the PCB and saw this: Am I boned? Saw comparison picturrles for the same SKU and the VRM is most definitely supposed to be there... (pointing at it w/ screwdriver)

I currently have a 960 but I kinda want to upgrade a bit. I can get a 980 Ti for about $170 used on ebay while a 1070 is still a few hundred. Is it still worth it to buy one of these cards? One of the main reasons Im considering it is because Linus himself always says that its more worth it to buy an older top tier card than a newer lower tier card.

I am a complete computer noob even though I am the go-to for all of my friends because I ordered parts and had a friend help me build this computer and I have had my own desktop PC for about 2 years. I recently replaced by msi r9 280 with a windforce 980 TI ordered from amazon. I never had frame issues with my 280 and I have gotten non-stop stuttering (not sure if correct term) and frame drop etc for no reason. I can run dark souls 3 on ultra settings and get 60 frames easy with no problems and I have no idea what happened with GTA. I can be playing on the lowest settings and still have frame issues consistently. I have tried on multiple occasions to get the optimized settings and change my power options to max performance but nothing works. btw spec list: 650w psu i5 4690k 980 TI 6gb 8gb hyperX ram z97n gaming 5 motherboard nzxt kraken x41 cooling

Hey guys, i have been a fan of the channel for 3 years, you inspired me to build my own PC, Recently i have found that my Evga 980ti hall of fame is giving me stuttering issues in games, such as black desert online, and league of legends, it makes it feel like the screen judders from left to right, i have tried back dating my drivers, and installing the up to date ones, i have found other threads relating to this issue that have said, shadow play could be causing the issue. so i have turned that off, no change. i have turned changed settings in nvidia control panel, that have previous related issues to whitcher 3. there is a shocking amount of issues on this 980 ti , and im starting to wonder if i dont the right thing. ive spent alot of money, and feel that what im getting out of this pc are just underwhelming, i have done 0 over clocks to this pc. i had a button on my video card that turned up fan speed and voltages, thought that this could be this issue but it has not sorted anything. ive got to the point now where im lost and really could use some back up on this, if anyone can help me i would be very appreciative many thanks My specs: intel i7-5820k 3.3ghz msi x 99 motherboard Evga Hall OF Fame 980 ti 16 gb balistics ram h110i double corsair water cooler. if you need anything else let me know.

Hi LTT community! I'm hoping you'll be able to help me decide on a GPU to get! I'm torn deciding, and think you guys should be the ones to advise from your personal experience! It's my first fully-fledged build, so could do with some guidance. The rig this is going into contains the following already: MSI Z97 Gaming 5 MoBo Intel i7-4790K processor 16 GB DDR3 1600 MHz Corsair HX620W NVMe SSD and SATA 3 HDD General uses of the machine will be: Gaming on High-FPS games (regularly) Very occasional Video Editing My day to day machine So far, I know that the pro of the 980 ti is that it (seems to) outperform the 1070 when it comes to Gaming Graphics, but the 1070 has the fact that it's newer and the extra 2GB of VRAM. I can't see much more between them really. In regards to cost, they're almost identical (at £370 for the 980 ti and £390 for the 1070), so there isn't really much difference there. Unless anyone can recommend anything else card-wise they think would be good around the same kind of price range! Thanks!

My friend might give me a 980 ti for free or a discount, but I have a cxm 450w and I'm not sure if it'll be enough. I've done some research and 500w+ seems recommended. I currently have a g4560 and RX 470, but if i got that 980ti i would sell both and upgrade the CPU to a i5 or i7. Could I run it, as I don't wanna replace my PSU, it's very new and I wouldn't be able to afford a decent new CPU ? If not should i just sell that and the pentium to get a better CPU or something?

Hi, I just recently changed my GPU from Gtx 1060 strix OC to Gtx 980 ti Amp xtreme edition. Since I decided to go with 980 ti because of the reviews from youtube that 980 ti is almost the same with 1070 performance and obviously can or almost doubled the performance of Gtx 1060. But in my scenario when i run a benchmark using HeavenUnigine benchmark, Yes!! there's a huge difference when it comes to scores between gtx 1060 and gtx 980 ti (obviously 980 ti wins). Suddenly when I played battlefield 1 ultra settings 1080p gaming using 980 ti it gives me around 60 - 80 fps with vsync off, which is the same fps scores that i got from gtx 1060, the same settings, everything is the same. I tried already to CLEAN ALL MY DRIVERS FROM GTX 1060 then install the latest drivers for my 980 ti, it gives me the same results. Current specs: i5 6600k 8GB ddr4 ram z170-A motherboard PSU: seasonic evo m-12 520W +80 bronze I really doubt that my CPU is bottlenecking my 980 ti, since I already did a research before getting this product. I really need your help guys... please give some advise. Although I have a suspect that my PSU wasn't able to produce enough power to my 980 ti and that causes my problem now. But i'm still open for your feedbacks and suggestions. THANKS.

Hi,My system specs isi5 6600k running 4.4ghzz170 A motherboard8GB ramgtx 980tiPSU: Seasonic evo m12 520W +80 bronzeThere are some "Rumors" that if a GPU wasn't able to get enough wattage from the PSU, It will not perform to its maximum capacity. How true is this?I almost believe on this rumor since I just recently upgraded my GTX1060 to GTX980 ti... suddenly there's no difference with the FPS results everytime that I play games like Battlefield 1. But when I run some benchmark test like the HeavenUnigine benchmark there's a huge difference between Gtx1060 and Gtx980ti when it comes to their scores (980ti wins) But like what I have said in games I got the same FPS as what gtx1060 provides me. during gaming sessions:CPU usage 100% / GPU usage 90% - 99% this is my status with my gtx 1060CPU usage 100% / GPU usage 50% - 80% this is my status with my gtx 980 tiSo... Is there's something to do with my PSU since its only 520W (recommended system PSU wattage for 980ti is 600W) Does my PSU affects my GPU performance that's why its not performing like gtx1060 does? Thanks.

Hello everyone, I recently got two used NVIDIA GTX 980 Tis, from a friend who had water damage in his PC. He gave me the cards, both with the water blocks still attached. He told me, I could try and see if they still work. He also gave me the stock blower-style reference design coolers that came with the card, but the problem is, that the thermal pads are either ripped, dirty or completely missing. I did some research, but I could not find an exact description of which thickness of thermal pad has to go where, or even which thickness to use at all. If anyone could help me and tell me, which thermal pads to get, I would be very grateful! As I am from germany, one supplier here, which at least seems like they have some variety would be Caseking.de: Search queries on Caseking lead to the following results: https://www.caseking.de/en/liquid-cooling/liquid-coolers/processor/thermal-pads https://www.caseking.de/en/search?sSearch=wärmeleitpads https://www.caseking.de/en/search?sSearch=thermal+pads They have a bunch of different thermal pads from EK and some other brands, but I still don't know which thickness to get, to attach the reference design coolers again. As for paste I would use Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut, as I still have some. (If you want to recommend any other, feel free to do so!) Thanks in advance, Lubi97

I posted a similar thread but it seems to be dead and none of the solutions I've tried have worked. My gpu tanks while in game, usually hovering around 70-80%, and very rarely getting into the 90's. This cause my fps to usually max out in the 80's, and getting as low as 50 in some scenarios. And oddly enough the usage seems to go down when there are more intensive moments that would demand more usage. My gpu temperatures don't get higher than 70c. My cpu hangs around ~75% usage and around 55c. Looking back I feel that this trend may have started a year ago when I updated from windows 8 to 10. I'm not sure though. I can't come up with any solution What I've tried: Fresh driver install Fresh install of Windows Switching PCI-E ports Swapping out identical cards Made sure Nvidia control panel was set to prefer max performance Made sure power options in windows were set to high performance Build: i7 4790k @ 4.7ghz MSI z97 g45 gaming MSI 980 ti Corsair Vengeance Pro ddr3 16gb 8x2 1866 Playing @ 1080p 144hz Here are some afterburner graphs while in game:

I'm stumped guys, I need don't know what would be better for me. I would be playing a lot of games but also 3D design and Photoshop work. I currently have a 980 ti and i5 4690k @ 4.2ghz however the 4k would be gsync so that would compensate. I would like to know what you guys would go for and if anyone has either would you please tell me what the pros and cons are? Hey there! So where should I start here? I won an GTX 980 Ti off an giveaway back in late march. I was happy with this card until the card died 3 days ago. I was really upset and immediately called the Nvidia Support, because the Giveaway was in cooperation with Nvidia Germany and the Headquater in Germany even shipped the card to me. Well first suprise there. They told me that they wouldnt take the card because Inno3D was the producer and I should call them for more support. So I did, and I got a response from Inno3D! Dear Sir Firstly, thank you for your kind support of our product, If your graphics card have any problem, You can send the graphics card and invoice warranty document, To your local reseller or your buy the shop to warranty check, Thank you Best Regards, "Well", I thought. I dont have any warranty documents except the stickers on my Graphics card which are saying "Warranty void if removed" and I wont send the card to an local reseller without having bought anything there! So I called the Nvidia support again and I showed them the E-Mail I got from Inno3D. They still said I need to send the card to Inno3D and gave me the advice, that I should talk to an Supervisor at Inno3D or something like that... Well now I am here! I sended another E-Mail to Inno3D and I will now wait for a response, but I dont think it will help. Now my question. Do I even have a warranty on the card? I mean I have these stickers on the card, but I still won it and Nvidia refuses to take the card back. I could really need some help here. Thanks!

Hey guys, currently I have a system with an MSI Gaming M5 motherboard, i7 6700K OC w/ A Corsiar H80i, 16GB of RAM and an MSI GTX 980 Ti GPU. Recently I bought a Samsung 4k monitor and am loving it, although I have definitely noticed that my system is getting stretched a lot more on games than it used to at 1080p. I was thinking about doing a custom watercooling loop, because, you know, it looks so awesome; but I have decided against since I got the new monitor. I live in South Africa, and we have a lot of gaming pc stores here, however most of them don't sell the 980 Ti anymore, and the ones that do are charging 15% more than the price in the US when it first came out! So, I am flying over to the US for Christmas, and am wondering what are some good places to buy or order an MSI 980 Ti apart from Amazon? I would prefer to buy brand new, but I don mind getting 2nd hand from a reputable reseller if there's no other option. What stores do you guys use to shop for your parts? Thanks in advance for any advice, A Fellow Gamer and PC Enthusiast

Im planning on liquid cooling my i7 5820k and my gtx 980 Ti, only problem is my gpu is a EVGA GTX 980 Ti VR eddition. basically it has a hdmi port at the front of the card for easier acess. Link to card below. http://au.evga.com/articles/00981/evga-geforce-gtx-980-ti-vr-edition/ Just asking if this will be an issue or if there is a water block that works for this card. primarily looking to use EK parts. thanks for in advance

I've been having issues with GPU usage in demanding games such as Battlefield 1 and Witcher 3. In Battlefield 1 my gpu usage drops as low as 50%, and I got fps as low as 35 during intense visual moments where usage should be at it's peak. I get max usage when benchmarking and get good scores, so it makes me wonder why my gpu under performs in games. My GPU temps are in the hover around 60-70C, and my CPU runs around 55-60c, so there shouldn't be any throttling. I've already tried: Clean installing windows and drivers Made sure nvidia settings were at max performance and windows was set at high performance Used the windows memory tool to see if my ram was bad, it wasn't. Sacrificing my roommates to Nvidia because i can't for the life of me figure this out. I'm going to put my friends card in my computer later this week to see if it is a hardware issue, since we both have 980 ti's. Specs: i7 4790k @ 4.7ghz MSI z97 g45 gaming MSI 980 ti w/ Nvidia reference cooler (1458 MHz, Memory at 3856MHz) The issues also were occurring before I overclocked it. I have 2 different 980 tis in sli (why? because the second one i got for a really good deal I don't care if they are different) the first one is a stock asus 980 ti with a hybrid cooler on it and the second one is a gigabyte extreme gaming edition. My primary card aka the one in the first pcie slot and has my monitor connected to is the hybrid card and its not to great for overclocking I have messed around a bit and have only been able to get about 1312mhz out of it and boosting the voltage at all just fails completely but the second 980 ti the gigabyte one is great and I can push it a lot further but it is limited by the other card. If I swap the slots that the cards are in could that affect my overclock like could I probably get a higher oc out of them since the second card isn't fully utilized anyway or something? I would really like to get a higher oc out of my cards but the hybrid/ reference card is really holding back

I've been noticing performance issues with my pc. These issues occur in all my games but I'm using Battlefield 1 as the main example. I have pretty poor GPU usage in Battlefield 1, which causes my frame rates to be less than what I should be getting with my setup. Sometimes dipping as low as 50 fps. Attached are afterburner graphs that were monitoring my system while I was playing. Hey forum, I have been having a completely bizarre problem plaguing my computer over the course of the past year or so. I will have lighter weight games like Tales from the borderlands, danganronpa 2, and overwatch run at high frame rates (60 or above) but have constant stuttering. The most recent example was in Tales from the Borderlands, the fps counter provided by Shadowplay stayed steady around 60, but the game was constantly stuttering. This is incredibly frustrating and any insight into the problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! PC specs are listed in signature.

Hi, I have two GTX980 Ti SC+ from EVGA and connected via the EVGA SLI bridge .... I nocticed after finishing my build the SLI bridge LED lit up, after installing windows 10 and all the drivers and steam and testing couple of games I noticed the LED are not lighting up, I looked for a solution online but most of the answers were "faulty LED" somehow didn't convince me since my scenario is a bit different and they used to lit. It's not a big of an issue but come on guys it's my first build

Hi guys, I have a reference cooled gtx 980 ti. its running very hot as usual. so i wanted to try and put on the EVGA hybrid cooler. However the 980 ti model is discontinued. And i cant seem to find it used on ebay. So since they do sell the 1080/1070 model. is was wondering if it where able to fit on the older gpu. Has anyone tried this before? or does anyone know this? Thanks in advance.

Hi there, I currently have an ASUS GTX 980 Ti STRIX and an i5-4750 as my CPU with 16 GB of RAM built into my system. I often wondered if my rather "old" CPU is holding my GPU back cause often I have the feeling if I'm lowering the settings the Framerate doesn't change at all or only a little bit. So currently I am in the situation that I have to send back my 1.5-year-old GPU due to Coil whining (I'm very sensitive to high pitched sounds) So now what do you recommend? Should I just buy a card in the same performance range (GTX 1070 maybe) or should I upgrade the rest of my System as well? So would my i5-4750 bottleneck a GTX 1070 and if yes what CPU would you recommend (the overall budget would be ~900$)? (I'm currently playing at 1440p with 144 Hrz. mostly Rainbow Six Siege, GTA, and other FPSs) Thanks for your help!

So i was shopping on ebay to get a used gpu since im on a budget and I saw a 980 TI & RX 580 8GB for under 250 Is this a good deal? if so, should I go for 580 or 980 TI?
