Hey guys, Currently i have a problem where my 4-ish year old build essentially has no signs of life except for what seems to be pulsing power to the front panel USB (flash drive LED was blinking, it usually just stays on). There are a lot of trouble shooting that I have no idea how to properly deduce. Parts list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cKNWt7 What is working: PSU (Somehow didn't explode, has full power tested with multimeter) PSU cables (Made sure every single one was properly plugged in, w/power) Fans (Spins when using paperclip method on PSU, so it seems that MOBO is still giving fans power?) CMOS battery (Has power) What is (potentially) not working: MOBO (The power button header is completely dead, shorting it doesn't do anything. When the power supply is powered on with the paperclip method, the EZ-Debug states there is a CPU failure) CPU (Potentially dead due to the EZ-Debug, however i don't know if i should trust the EZ-Debug of a MOBO that doesn't want to POST) Unknowns RAM (reseated once) Disc (not exactly related to problem) GPU (Can't test, probably still works) Misc. Info The system had a problem before where it would refuse to power on until letting it "sit" for a bit after power off. The system had a problem where it would seemingly freeze out of nowhere and required a power off. See the first misc. info for what happens after. The CPU was overclocked with msi's smart-oc feature The GPU was overclocked with afterburner, however I cannot correlate anything that involves the GPU right now The power supply was never a newegg unit, i dont know if it is in the recall range but it works perfectly fine. My house is in one piece with no signs of going up in flames......yet. Ez-debug does not have any other lights lit up. What i have tried Checking if PSU has power, it does Reseating RAM Reseating power cables Essentially all the PSU troubleshooting steps Reseating CPU and applying new thermal paste Shorting the power button manually, to no response Plugging in motherboard power, with a paperclip inserted into 24 pin to manually feed power (This is where i got the EZ-Debug lights) My question is whether the MOBO or the CPU is dead, or both idk. The EZ-Debug is something that I find conflicting because the system refuses to POST even when shorting the power button header. And my other question is what I do from here, because getting a z390 in late 2023 seems a bit sketchy (and a bit expensive). However due to my relatives from China coming over, I found a 170 CAD z390 board that should work in theory on taobao.

Hello everybody, I'm buying a 9700k and I currently have a Meshify C with an ROG Strix 1060 gb and Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro installed in a Prime Z370-a, so a front mounted aio cooler is out of the question and a a top mount is going to be hard seeing as the ram height is around. 50mm. I also don't want to cover the ram sticks with a big chunky cooler like those for heavy oc (DH-15 and Dark Rock Pro 4). My current CPU Cooler is the Cryorig H7 (not the quad lumi). Is it enough? is the Noctua U12S a good upgrade? What cooler should I look into? I'm running it mostly at stock (I don't know if require a powerful cooler to run all cores at stock max turbo speed).

Hello i upgraded my mobo-cpu-ram and my new pc spec is like this: i7-9700k msi z390-a pro Enermax liqmax ii 240 aio cooler 16+16 Crucial 3600mhz cl16 ram gtx 1660 ti With turbo enabled i cant play any games even with 20C room temp. Cpu is running so hot (over 100C) I couldnt use turbo once since i bought my new cpu and mobo. I use my 9700k with turbo disabled (3.6 ghz) I tried to overclock it to 4.2 with 1.15vcore or something like that. Even with that low vcore i am always running 45-50c at idle 90-95 at full load. Can someone tell me whats going on ? I mounted 3-4 times changed thermal paste and bought a new one. Nothing changed. Radiator fans and pump RPM's are so good nothing wrong there. I am getting cold in room when cpu gets %100 load. Now i am thinking RMA the cpu, or buy 8700k and delid it. Idk what to do please help me Sorry for bad English not my native language

Hello everybody, I recently mounted a Noctua U12S Chromax into my 9700k and when I installed it I didn't pay attention to the manual and didn't screw the two screws that keep the cooler in place in the secufirm2 bracket. I screwed the right side almost completely but the mounting mechanism wouldn't let me screw all the way unless I went back to zero to screw it properly. Anyways, my only worry is the following: By heavily screwing only on a side, I assume i spread the thermal much more on a side than the other, and because of that, can it leak into the socket if this if the amount I put? Here is a photo of the amount:

Hi, I have the following components: ASRock Z390 Phantom 6 (latest BIOS 4.3) Intel 9700k I have enabled Intel's Platform Trust Technology (PTT) in my BIOS, however Windows 10 seems to be totally unaware of it. It's supposed to be a workaround for the Windows 11 TPM 2.0 requirement. ASRock even mentions it here for my specific motherboard. Yet when intel PTT enabled in the BIOS, Windows refuses to acknowledge it even exists. Doesn't show up in windows security centre tpm.msc says there's no TPM installed No security devices show up in device manager It feels like the motherboard hasn't enabled it at all. Has enyone else encountered this issue? Thanks.

Hi all, Upgraded over Christmas to an i7 9700k. I have a Corsair H115i AIO in an IBP Snowblind S Case. Prior to my upgrade, from an i5 8400, I would sit at 70deg under load. I have noticed even if I leave my PC on during the day it ends up in the high 80s, low 90s even at times. Mostly when it creeps into the 90s, it will be under load, but I have caught it in the high 80s just idling. If I sleep my PC during the day, when it runs for a few hours under load when I am home, it sits in the 70s. I have dusted it a few times since, even reseated and pasted my CPU. Do I need a new AIO? Do I need to switch to a CPU fan? I have debated hardline water cooling, but now with the Snowblind S, I would hardly see it. My GPU rarely creeps over 50. Side Question- PC Blue screens whenever I move my Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 audio interface. Not that concerned with this as I can just you know, not touch it, but if anyone has encountered this before it would be greatly appreciated! TLDR: Specs CPU: i7 9700k GPU: 2060 8GB OC PSU: Thermaltake GOLD 750W RAM: 2x 8GB Corsair Vengeance 3200mhz cl16 AIO: Corsair H115i (2x 120mm rad) Case: IBP Snowblind S Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, I have 9700KF used to be overclocked to 5.1ghz on AIO, now i have open loop cooling and i want to drain every drop of power from the CPU. When pushed to 5.2ghz 1.34v it is very stable with no issues, however, at 5.3 its unstable and changing LLC and voltage to 1.42 didnt change power draw and seems to be locked to 130w max 149w although power draw as per website can go as high as 235w. I never heard of wattage being locked but want to verify as no matter what I do power draw is the same which may be the reason for instability when overclocking. My board is Asus Rog Z390F 8+4 pin EPS PSU: XPG Core Reactor 850w gold

Hi, I have the below rig: intel i7 9700K running @5.1ghz @1.3v Asus Rog Strix Z390F Gaming Aorus Master AMD 6800XT 4x8GB DDR4 @3400mhz - Corsair Vengence Pro RGB LG 27GL850 IPS 2560x1440 (2k) 144hz I was thinking of upgrading to Ryzen 5800x to be able to utilize AMD Smart access memory since Resizable bar is only active on nvidia cards. Went through mutliple benchmarks, articles, videos...etc but i only get mixed results, nothing concrete. what do you think?

CPU: Intel I7-9700K MB: Gigabyte Z390 M PSU: Corsair RM750 AIOs: Corsair H100i, Arctic liquid freezer 240mm Case: Corsair Carbide series 175R I recently bought a second hand Corsair H100i from eBay. I installed it in my case in the place of my Hyper 212X (radiator always above the pump). Sometimes I got boot failure detected and was sent to the BIOS, and when the PC booted I was either greeted by idles of 70-90 degrees, or mid-40s, but when it was idling at the mid-40s as soon as I would use more than about 40% of my CPU it would shoot straight up to 100C with no overclock and an undervolt of -75mV. the BIOS only detected the fans that were connected to the pump block, never the pump itself. It also never showed up in iCue. The logo on the AIO sometimes turns red while running, but not always. I could see the fans turning and hear the pump working, and one of the tubes ran hot and the other cold. I thought there was something wrong with the AIO, so bought an Arctic Freezer 240 new and tried that. Same result, though neither tube was running hot even after a couple of hours of idle. I initially thought it wasn't getting enough power from the CPU fan header, so I plugged it into the SATA power using an adapter so it would get more juice and run at full speed. No better. I reinstalled both AIOs several times, to see if I was doing it wrong. Every time I installed the pump block, I put a pea-sized amount of thermal paste on the CPU and didn't spread it, letting the mounting pressure do so for me. Every time I removed the pump block the paste was spread over most of the CPU so I'm pretty sure the contact is fine. When I installed the block I also made sure to slowly tighten the screws in a criss-cross pattern. I have re-installed my 212X with the same thermal paste and my idles are sitting in the mid 30s, so it's not the paste either. I have absolutely no idea what's wrong with it. (Please excuse terrible cable management lol) Any ideas anyone?

Hi, which one do you recommend for 9700K @5.2ghz as both are priced the same NZXT X73 EK-Classic Kit S360 D-RGB Triple 120mm Liquid Cooling Kit thanks,

Hi, I never built an open loop water cooling system before so I have few questions please. Thinking of getting EK-Classic Kit S360 D-RGB Triple 120mm Liquid Cooling Kit as its supposed to be for noobs. My questions: 1- Do I need to get anything more, or this kit has all I need, I know I have to get Fluid Concentrate for coloring (https://citycenter.jo/gaming/gaming-diy-water-cooling/ek-cryofuel-250ml-solid-electric-purple-fluid-concentrate) 2- Should this kit fit in my Mif tower case (Asus Tuf GT501) 3- Will these fittings work fine as I need more 90 degrees angled fittings (https://citycenter.jo/computer-hardware/computer-hardware-components/components-fan-and-heatsink/fan-and-heatsink-custom-liquid-cooling/ek-af-angled-90-g1-4-nickel?sort=p.price&order=DESC) 4- How to mix the EK-CryoFuel Clear Concentrate with the coloring I want to buy in point 2? any other advices? thanks,

I currently own i7 9700K overclocked to 5.2ghz, i play AAA games mostly simulation and strategy games like Total War, Anno 1800, Planet Zoo... etc which they mostly depend on core power, read many reviews and watched many benchmarks but couldn't find what i want specially 5.2ghz 9700K vs 4.7ghz 5600x. I can get the 5600x and Strix B550E for a good price? Is an upgrade since AMD have better IPC or downgrade as intel has 8 actual cores? Thanks

So i have an i7 9700k running at the 4.6ghz boost. I have a liquid cooler on it and when im gaming it reaches a max of 57 degrees c is that a safe temp for long term use?

Anytime I attempt to play BL3, My computer starts lagging and chugging around. I currently have an I7 9700k the comfortably runs at around 4.5GHz. Whenever I load up BL3, it drops to 0.79GHz and stays there. My temps aren't going off the wall. It stays between 110f and 130f. It doesn't do it with any other game, especially with the more demanding games. Idk what to do about this. Please help me!

Hi, I have the below specs: i7 9700k@ 5.00ghz @1.3v w\ AIO 240mm Asus Prime Z390M Plus 2x8GB DDR4 3000mhz HyperX Predator Gigabyte rtx 2080super gaming OC Seasonic Focus FM 650W Gold 80+ 2K Screen I have stuttering issue in some games like: NFS Heat COD BO4 Mafia 2 and 3 A way out Two point hospital COD MW (the new one) Planet Zoo Other games dont stutter: Shadow of war Shadow of the tomb raider Anno 1800 Overwatch Total War Warhammer 2,Three Kingdoms and Troy The stuttering is not on all games but its annoying I tried everything: - Changing RAMs, Slots...etc -Temps are fine across the PC using HWINFO, MSI AB - Bios to default - No OCing- -Multiple Bios versions and multiple drivers for GPU -Ran Aida64 stress test, 3d mark, userbenchmark... all fine I have cable mods, tried the original with the same issue. Sometimes I can hear coil whine and when stutter occurs in that 1ms the coil whine disappears. A friend of mine told me it might be motherboard issue!!

Hi, I will probably be buying an 9700k cpu and want to get as close to 5ghz as I can. For my budget I have these two to chose from(afaik from my own research, feel free to mention similar priced but better options), which do you think is best overall. My main goal is to be playing fps games at 250+ fps. thanks https://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-Z390-AORUS-LGA1151-Motherboard/ https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HM3MD1D?&tag=pcbuilds101-20

Hello I posted incorrect link yesterday. Will not attempt to 'link', will just post plain text of the motherboard i have to choose from. My main concern is having clearance for either a Cryorig r1 ultimate, or a noctura d15 140mm fan. Also while being able to have plenty of vram/bandwitdth etc to fully overclock a 9700k(i pretending its a 'gold lottery ticket' instead of a 'trash lottery' that i keep hearing about with silicon. Gigabyte Z390 AORUS PRO WIFI LGA 1151, which is currently 189 plus shipping i belive. MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Edge AC LGA1151, which is currently 170$ atm with free shipping i belive. Gigabyte Z390 AORUS Elite (Intel LGA1151, which is 170$ as well with free shipping. Please say if there are better choices for overclocking a 9700k to 4.9-5.1ghz. This is my first 9k cpu setup. had a 4790 before. I would like to stay hopefully below 200$ oin the motherboard, but if there are safer options with better stability for 250+ fps gaming, I would consider spending more. thank you

I did some cpu stress and memory stress testing using prime 95 (and OCCT but not much) and my temps reached almost 93c using a Noctua U12S. I've been monitoring the temperatures with HWinfo64 except the vrms since this board doesn't have a vrm sensor. The stress test lasted almost 2 hours, and when I did it I had the vccio and vccsa at auto which were giving excesive voltage (1.328v and 1.432v respectively). I changed it since to 1.15 and 1.2 which are fine values according to the DDR4 OC Guide. How likely is it that I did damage or overheated the vrms on the board? I only have basic knowledge at these topics, so I don't know if vccio and vccsa affect vrm temps at all.

Hi. I have noticed something strange by my CPU. CPUID is showing that my CPU is running at 8,9 Ghz. Is that even possible? Thanks!
-
Is the Asus Z370-A fine for the 9700k? I heard this specific motherboard has not-so-good vrms for 9th gen, will it be fine though? I don't want to reach 5.0 GHz on all cores or anything like that, only a slight oc in the future to increase its lifespan. My cooler is a Noctua U12s Chromax which is not ideal too.

Hi, I'm like following all the news about the PC components and can't validate this one thing - Is it time to upgrade? I built 9700k system 4 years ago as it was released - spec'd it up real nice that time of PC building, with fancy fast SSD, 32GB RAM, Z390 - but now i have some issue with the resources when doing pentests/performance tests with heavy workloads with 100% CPU usages. - read some benchmarks, compared the CPU's online - but will i actually gain something on everyday tasks with like Ryzen9 or i9s ? Or I just save a lot more money opt in for much more expensive Threadripper or Xeon as a desktop PC? // please leave a relevant comment //Thank you in advance ! ! !

Running my 9700k at 5.2ghz, 1.38v 1.1v vccio 1.12v vccsa with turbo llc on my z390 aorus ultra. Under load draws 180w, cinebench r23 stable, vrvout reading measures 1.31v - 1.32v under load. Hottest core at 97c. Could I benefit from a repaste? I used a friends thermal paste that came with his cooler master air cooler around 4 years ago. Thinking of getting syy 157 as its only 5 bucks on amazon right now. What other pasts perform better? I want one that lasts a long time and can be used for gpus too.

On a Z390 Aorus Ultra and a 9700k. At stock it will draw around 110w in cinebench and won't ever go down to the 95w TDP that its rated for. I noticed my PL1 and PL2 limits are at 4090w and not 95w. Im on optimized defaults from the motherboard bios.
