So my current build is an I5 3750k @ 4.0Ghz, 970 G1 gaming, 16gb DDR3 ram, 240gb m.2, 1tb WD blue, with a fractal 240mm liquid cooler in an H440. I recently purchased a 1440p ultrawide and want to be able to run games at that resolution on max or similar settings on games like GTA V and PUB G and I think I should upgrade my GPU. I can't decide whether I should upgrade to a 1070 or 1060 6gb or find another matching 970 and run them in an SLI configuration, which would only run me about 200 dollars whereas a new card could run me 300 or 400 dollars. What should I do?

Hello guys. I was wondering if Doing a 970 sli in 2018 will be worth it or not. My current setup is: MSI B150 Gaming M3 GTX 970 Cooler Master 750 Watt Core I5 6500 2 SSDs and 2TB HDD My teemps are really really good. Now, I have budget of a 1060, however, with the same budget I can get an SLI supported Motherboard and another GTX 970. Will that be worth it? (IK 1070 will be best but I can't really afford it right now) Please tell me if the 970 SLI will be worth it. Thanks. I'll be gaming Triple AAA titles and Occasional League and CS. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

I've done my fair share of googling and it seems to me that windows 10 is getting a tremendous reputation for being utter garbage. Onto the actual problem; my screen turned black 30 seconds after launching PUBG with SLI enabled. Doing what any respectable novice would do I turned it off and on again. After boot a blue screen popped up and informed me that windows needed to be repaired and to insert repair media. My compliance didn't help. The installation media told me that it could not be installed because it only likes GPT disks. I then decided to "F@*K it!" and install from scratch, which is the point I'm at now. Why does SLI break things like this? I know that both cards are functionally healthy and the bridge is to my knowledge not faulty either. I was using the current drivers (390.65). Here I have compiled a list of (what I think are) likely causes: Motherboard BIOS having not been updated since I got it in December 2014 My own fetid ignorance Windows 10 Nvidia's Drivers Some combination of Software (Logitech Keyboard & Mouse, custom theme (UX Patcher + Icons)) Funky monitor aspect ratio (2560x1080) Incorrect configuration of hardware (I think unlikely) If I think of any more I'll be sure to add them. What do I have to do to make SLI work? I'm quite prepared to downgrade to win 7/8 if it helps. Specs: Dual GTX 970 SLI Gigabyte G1 MSi G55 SLI mb with Click Bios 4 750w psu i5 4670K I know this issue has happened with others but the most recent I found were from ~2 years ago.. Is this my problem or has everyone given up by now?

Hello, I am building my new pc this days and so far I have everything bit the gpu. The specs so far are: i7 6700k, msi M5 motherboard, evga 750W psu, 16GB or ram, 450GB SSD and a phanteks case. I choose a Dell u3415w as my monitor and now I try to choose my gpu. My dyllima is the following one. To have one 1070 to start with or to go for an older solution and have two 970 in sli, bying one now and the second one after some time. I am planning to use my pc for design and gaming, mostly rally and fps, and I quoted like to have an average of at list 60fps. Thanks for your time and I am sorry for the long post. I am waiting your answers

Hey Everyone! So I recently picked up a PG279Q ROG Swift for my setup (coming from 1080p 60hz cap TV). Huge difference. Didn't make sense to upgrade sooner due to lack of space in my old apartment. Regardless, now I have this awesome monitor and I'm enjoying some solid 1440p gaming with moderate to high FPS depending on the title. There are some that seem to bring it down to a (admittedly still playable) 30-40hz. Which is still fine, but what's the point of having a monitor capable of 165hz if you can only push 40! Plus it makes me wonder as to how long my 970 will be able to perform as well as it does with newer/future titles. So here's the debate. Pick up a cheap 970 and Sli. Sell my 970 and pick up a 1070. Or sell my 970 and pick up something like a 980ti. I'd love to pick up a 1080, but the $900 + price tag is hard to swallow right now as I feel that much money might be better spent upgrading my processor/mobo in the next year or so. My plan was not to exceed $350 CAD, or $350 + $250 for selling my 970. My other concern is even running Sli on my existing Mobo. 3 PCI slots which are fairly close, and I need one for my WiFi card. Here's my build http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/yP2QZ8 Any and all input welcome.

Hey guys, I am currently trying to decide if I should buy a second Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming (I already own 1) or wait a bit longer and buy a GTX 1080 (I really like the Asus GTC 1080 Strix). Here is my current setup Asus Maximus VIII Hero Core i7-6700k 48GB DDR4 3200MHz Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming BenQ XL2720z I know my monitor is only 1080p, but it is 144Hz and I really want to be able to run every game I play at max settings and with a consistent minimum of 60FPS. Plus I am buying one or the other, so don't ask why I need more at 1080p please. I would really appreciate some feedback and suggestions here. I know the 1080 is new and not many reviews are out yet and most reviews that are out aren't full reviews. I have looked at all of the specs for the AIB partner cards that are out and I really like the Asus GTX 1080 Strix. I definitely don't want a Founder's Edition card. I assume the 1080 Strix will be available soon, but haven't seen if in stock anywhere yet. I don't mind waiting a few weeks. I am leaning towards the 1080, but I'm not 100% sure yet. I also have an EKWB Predator 360 with QDC. I would like to watercool my video card/s. I know the EK full cover block is available for the 970s, the 1080 block should be out by July hopefully, but that is not a huge issue. Buying 1 more 970 and 2 pre-filled EK full cover blocks is about the same price as a 1080 without the full cover block. What does everyone here think?

Im looking for a new monitor and have it narrowed down too either the asus pg279q or pg27aq. Im running an i7-4790k (OC 4.7ghz) and sli 970's (OC 1400mhz on both) so i get about 15fps above stock benchmarks. I don't mind waiting for the pg27aq to be released. I play some competitive games (cs go [MGE]), but high refresh rate doesn't feel overly necessary even though its nice to have. PG27AQ PG279Q Pros Pros 4K Higher refresh rate (165hz) 10 bit display Cheaper

Hey Forum In a couple months I will be buying a Curved 34" 3440x1440p Ultrawide monitor that runs at 75hz. Right now I have one EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB FTW Edition card which is an absolute beast but I'm only running a 1920x1080 monitor. I'm just wondering and curious to whether or not throwing in another card in SLI will be enough to handle the workload. Thanks for the help!

So, I'm upgrading my pc pretty soon, to achieve the following setup: - i7 4790k - 16gb DDR3 RAM @1600 MHz - EVGA Z97 FTW MOBO - RM 850w PSU - Sentey GS6300R case - Corsair H55 watercooler And I need your help to decide on my video card(s). I have enough budget to get 2 970s and run them in SLI or get one 980ti and have about 100 dollars to spare. I know that if I go with the 980ti I will have room to get one more in the future, but I don't live in the US or CA, so, preferrably, I would choose the most futureproof option. Thanks

I buy a 970 (which only has a 500w recommendation), while planning on buying another 970 to SLI within a year? since the 970 SLI has a recommended PSU wattage of 700w.

Hello everyone! I've been looking at either three 1920x1080 monitors with one auxiliary display (they will all be Acer H236HLbid monitors). Total cost ~450 USD. Or a single 2560x1440 monitor (Asus PB278Q). Total cost ~470 USD. 1. I will NEVER buy another TN panel so 4k is basically of limits as of now. 2. My budget is set to a $600 maximum so which would you guys pick? 3. I have two 970s in SLI. Your input is greatly appreciated

My parts list Asus gene vii 4790k 970 strix sli 3x 850 pros in raid 0 2x seagate barracuda 3tb h100i windows 8.1 I made this build about 2 months ago and it was working fine. yesterday afternoon, causally went on to play gmod with my friends. they decided to start their own server which required us to use hamachi. and thus the problems begin. I first started having problems with skype, it was showing me as offline and i couldn't call anyone. somehow got it to work and went in to gmod. it was working for a while then blue screened (don't remember the code) reboted and got in to the game and it blue screened again but it was a different error (system exception error win32k.sys). i tried to fix this error and it didn't work and it started happening when watching YouTube and while casually using my computer. by this point i had already uninstalled hamachi and was still getting the errors, but they wouldn't all be the same blue screen making it hard to find the problem. after a while i was forced to fully uninstall windows and re install only to have it blue screen while it was resetting. i have tried to reset the computer 4 or more times and had it blues screen or crash at different time through out the process with completely different errors. so to conclude, i have no idea whats causing the problems but i am pissed and want to sit in the corner and cry. all suggestions are appreciated because im at the point of trying to reset my computer with a different keyboard to see if that's the problem.

I just got new rams from black Friday. i was using the 8GB and everything was fine. I just got my new g skill rams (2X 4GB) and i intalled them. they worked fine with the desktop. It shows that i Have 16GB. The problem i Have now is that when i started BF4 I have that weird red bar in the middle of the screen. It happens with csgo too. I tried to disable sli and the problem went away. IDK if it is the new rams or just my sli settup acting up PC Specs: CPU Intel I7 4770k @ Stock Corsair H100i Liquid Cooler MOBO MSI G-45 Gaming GPU 2X Nvidia Strix 970 MEMORY 16 GB Ram (different brands) New (2X Sniper G. Hi! My rig has 4 years old and needs an upgrade but i can't buy all the parts wright now. I will buy some now and the others in 6 months. I mainly play fps online and simracing. The current specs i want to replace are: - asus rampage 2 extreme - i7-950 - 3x2gb corsair dominator gt 200cas8 (only if i realy need) - asus gtx580 - asus vw266h (display) I will buy this month 2 asus strix 970 plus one of the following: 1- asus maximus vii formula + 4790k, or 2- asus rog swift pg278q My main concerns are, in the first scenario i'm afraid the 2x2gb memory isn't enough thus making me spend an extra 200€ in a new kit, and can't get significant image improvment in current display from the 970sli. On the second scenario i'm afraid the i7-950 will bottleneck the 970sli and can't have the full experience of the rog display. Also some concerns about the 970sli on the old r2e. What should i buy first to improve my gaming experience wright now? What parts are more likely to be cheaper in 6 months? Please tell me your thouhgs. Thanks in advance!
