I trying to decide between 2 versions of Acers e5 757g series. One has an i3 6100u + gtx 950m 2gb ddr5 The other has an i5 6200u + gtx 940mx 2gb gddr5 Everything else is the same. Even the price is the same. Is much better gpu worth the slower cpu???? Any advice appreciated.

Hello everyone, I recently bought an 8GB RAM stick to replace a 4GB one. My laptop has now a total of 12GB of RAM (yes that's strange) : 4GB soldered and 8GB unsoldered. However this is a laptop equipped with a GTX 950m and its 2GB of dedicated V-RAM. I launched GPU-Z to see if the type of V-RAM is the same as the normal RAM and guess what ?! It is [I joined screenshots of GPU-Z concerning my GPU and of CPU-Z concerning my RAM]. So here's my question : My laptop has a grand total of 14GB (4+8+2) of RAM and V-RAM [in the same DDR3 (Hynix) format], can I increase the amount of dedicated V-RAM for my Nvidia GTX 950m from 2 to 3 or 4GB ? Hope I was clear.

My HP laptop used to work well until about a month ago, it started to get lag spikes and would do weird stuff(what i mean by that is it lags in games).about two weeks ago games would seriously lag like 15-->20 fps instead of 40-->50fps. i tried to identify the problem but couldnt, but i guess it has to do with the GPU's load cause once it hits the 100% usage mark it lags. and when gets 98% it goes back up to 45 fps, thats why in loading screens and before the start of a match its smooth but when i start playing it goes down so the real question im asking is: How can i cap my GPU's load to 95% instead of 100%?? BTW i have a GTX 950M in my laptop and i7-6 something, and the laptop is about 3.5 years old thanks to who ever answers this or try to help out!!

GTX 950m should be getting around 110+ fps in League of Legends. I get 30-40. Even when I turn the settings down from MAX my FPS doesn't go up and the play still skips. I did research and it seems like lots of options are missing from my panel compared to what it would be on a desktop, maybe that's natural? But the Physx option has NOT shifted over to indicate its accessing the Nvidia card (per the picture) but I don't know if that matters or not..and THEN the NVIDIA indicator doesn't say its using the screen (Im not sure if this is functioning while I'm playing LoL or not) but it does become active when I open the LoL client and go in game. My FPS is an issue and I really don't know what to do at this point. Could it be because **my GPU readout says 'SLI DISABLED'?** **Troubleshooting:** I have tried uninstalling the GPU drivers and reinstalling them. I used DDU. I've fiddled with the NVIDIA control panel settings, setting things on this and that and nothing seems to help. I read somewhere about BIOS? But information wasn't and I didn't want to mess anything up on my laptop. Then there is this thing I read about called Nvidia Optimus? But I don't know if I even have that in my system or not. ------------- For the life of me, I can't figure out what is wrong with my system. I hope someone over here can enlighten me.

Hi Guys, I know it maybe is a really stupid question but but keep in mind i'm a noob and just bought a MSI gaming laptop to replace my console. I currently have a MSI GP72 leopard pro with an i7 5700HQ 8gb DDR 3 and a GTX 950m. The games i play are mainly racing simulators. With certain games i experience that my GPU isn't keeping up at higher settings. (40 FPS at 1080 at high settings for F1 2015). I know it's highly unlikely to upgrade the GPU but in cinebench i saw that my GPU has a PCIe connection ?? Does this mean that i can swap this GPU out for another like a 960 M PCIe?

I have a Toshiba Satellite P50-C. It has 16gb of ram(15.8) usable. It has an Intel I7-6500U CPU at 2.50 GHz. The GPU is a Nvidia Geforce GTX 950m. I have a big problem with my pc when i am gaming. When i'm playing watch dogs, it runs at about 55 fps on ultra textures and medium-high graphics settings. Then after about 15 mins, it starts these repetitive fps drops. I'll be running it fine then out of nowhere it will drop from 55 down to 5 frames per second. At the same time as the fps drops, the audio stutters heavily. It sounds like static almost. Each of these fps drops will last for about 5 seconds and they happen every minute or so. No matter what I do it still happens. I turned down the graphics down to 'low' on every game and it still does it. Even on TERRARIA. My temps are 78 degrees for my CPU and 85 for my GPU at load. I have the latest driver. SOMEONE HELP ME

Hi guys, I recently benchmarked my current gaming laptop after not being satisfied anymore about it's performance on heavier games. My MSI leopard pro benchmarked 24 fps at F1 2015 at ultra settings an latest drivers. 32 FPS at high settings and 40 FPS at medium settings (which suck). Now I would want to build a better pc for the heavier games. I'm researching diffrent options and possibilities to solve my question? I can't find an clear answer myself as an novice pc builder and enthousiast. My current laptop has the following specifications: I7 5700HQ 2.7 ghz (boost 3.5 ghz) 8gb ram ddr3 128 GB SSD 1TB HDD GTX 950M 2GB DDR3 The games i mostly play are racing games an Fifa (if it helps you guys) It seems the biggest bottleneck from my laptop is the graphics card since www.gpuboss.com says a 750ti is already a better performer than the 950m. Which complete setup (CPU, GPU, RAM, MOBO, storage) would you guys advise for me as a novice. The budget i have is around €1000 (netherlands) and I don't prefer AMD, intel etc. I've already been advised on this forum to wait for the new graphics card from the vendors but i also would like advise for which platform of cpu? Greeting everyone, I would like to make thread about mobile new generation 9XXM from Nvidia. Here's some info from internet (sources at bottom) and I would like to make discussion about it. GeForce GTX 900M series will be named: GT 940M* GTX 950M* GTX 960M* GTX 970M GTX 975M GTX 980M (Spips in October) ​​​*No info about them at this moment About GeForce 9XXM series This generation will be based on GM204 chip. Probably this chip will be in version GM204B and still 28nm process. This generation promises desktop class gaming and 980M/97xM may be capable of gaming beyon 1080p. But main WOW is in power consumption, because Nvidia announces that this Maxwell generation is able to run on battery (100W) and also lower thermal output. y And there is new update in technology Nvidia Battery Boost which was used in 8XXM series. This technology hold 30+ FPS and hold it at this level if you need to. For example if you play FPS you need more FPS (lol - first person shooter, frames per second) but if you play strategy or some static game you dont need high FPS for static scene. With Battery Boost works new updated Nvidia Experience with plugged and battery optimalization settings. Anytime you can play game higher than 30 FPS (I would say 60 FPS in 980M) and on battery you can still manage quite long game time. In compare to Kepler, this Maxwell generation has from 1.5 to 2 times faster NVENC video encoder (from 6 to 8 times the speed of playback). Pure Video Feature Set E decoding should go from 8 to 10 times better thanks to cache and memory efficiency. But still H.265 is not fully hardware supported for decoding, so is used hardware and software mix for decoding boost instead. 970M and 975M GTX has core clock of 954 MHz and it should be able to operate at 954-993 MHz. It has 6GB memory and according to all data I've read 975M is going to have higher core and memory clock or in my opinion 970M would have 4GB memory and 975M 6GB - this is just speculation. But stil 97XM version has slower memory bus it's 192 bit, but still outperforms all curren mobile cards. In compare to 980M is 20% slower. Release date is unknown. 980M Has 8GB memory as 880M and same memory bus - 256 bit. Core speed is nice 1032 MHz and boost is up to 1098 MHz. This performace is capable to play on highest settings on 1080p at 60FPS. TDP is unknow but probably is going to be around 100-115 W. And there is some crazy result 980 vs 980M Two way SLI. 980 got at Fire Strike nice 10415 and 980M SLI (yes its SLI, but hey it's laptop card) got awesome 13181. 980M SLI is totatly 1080p 60 FPS Ultra settings choice, probably nothing you throw at it gonna stop it bellow 60 FPS. Videocardz.com said that from unknown reason 980M SLI is insanely greater than 980, scaling is 95%+! "Whether this is just a well written driver or a new technology for mobile GPUs, we do not know yet.". 980M is going to be shipped in October.
