8086k has screen taring in full acreen. Lost my gpu screw and found out i have taring when full screen. How would i fix that?

So I currently have a PG279Q that needs upgrading and I'm considering going for either a PG279QM or a AW3423DW. Vastly different choices I know. More realistically considering the QM but after learning of the AW3423DW, I am at the very least interested. I'm currently running an EVGA 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra (yah last one ever) and an i7-8086k. My question is, with my current GPU/CPU - how soon should I expect to be suffering from bottlenecking or performance (sub 60fps) issues? Should I expect to be upgrading my GPU more frequently if I wanted to play at relatively high settings with the higher res of the AW3423DW? Would I have a problem running 3440x1440p even now with my setup? I don't plan on a GPU upgrade as I just upgraded from my 1080Ti a couple months ago.

Hey ya'll I recently picked up a used i7-8086k to replace my i5-9400f and when I put in the 8086k all the fans and lights would turn on for about 15 second but then switches off for a couple seconds turns on again and does this loop. I haven't been able to get it to post. When I switch back to the i5-9400f it works fine. I've cleared the bios and upgraded the PSU. Any help would be great, I was wondering if maybe a bios update would fix it but I'm not too sure thanks! Other Specs: MB- asrock b360m IB-R1 PSU- EVGA 1300w gold CPU Cooler- Noctua NH-U12A GPU- MSI GTX1660 Ram- 32gb 8gbx4 Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro

What is a good gpu for an i7-8086K? I was thinking of a 1660 ti or is that a bottleneck? How much DDR4 RAM do you suggest?

Heyo forums, I'm was planning on getting the 9700k from my dad's friend who works for Intel, but it's not currently in stock since Intel has trouble with 14nm all the time and such. I've been waiting for the 9700k to go into stock, but the guy just emailed me saying the 8080k is in stock for around the same price. Is there going to be much difference in performance between the 8086k and 9700k? I know the 8080k has a higher bin but the 9700k has two more cores, so that's why I'm curious. I'm playing csgo, gta v, call of duty, some fortnite, and editing videos all at 1080p 144hz with a GTX 1070 Ti. Thanks!

I have spent hours and hours reading guides and watching videos trying to overclock my 8086k my new z370 Msi pro carbon motherboard. Ive adjusted every setting suggested and it wont even hold 4.7 stable on all cores. I have overclocked several cpus before this over the years with no problems. I cannot seem to find a guide specific to my motherboard or bios providing any evidence that it requires any extra tweaking than normal. Any help would great appreciated. thank you!

Ok so my new build is going have a 8086k. My question is there any benefit to getting a z390 instead of a z370 motherboard? Thanks in advance for the input.

I've been running i7-8086k for good half year. Overclock to 5Ghz with 1.35v as guided( https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/950229-overclocking-the-8086k/ ). Got 1st BSOD(Related to Intel rapid storage) when launching fresh installed BF1, other games were running fine. Uninstalled IRS, then tried BF1 again, got 2nd BSOD(IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL), froze there so had to cold reboot. Went to BIOS, dropped voltage to 1.3v while keeping 5Ghz, got BSOD(WHEA uncorrectable) while booting. Windows suggested any *fixes* but just selected reboot. Went to BIOS again to up voltage to 1.35v, but downed frequency to 4.9Ghz. I have yet to launch BF1 again, but I don't get few things. First is why I can't stabilize on 5Ghz? People claimed they reach 5Ghz with even less than base voltage of 1.3v(1.28v for example), and lot claimed 1.35v is enough for 5+Ghz(5.1/5.2Ghz). On the other hand, ever since I upgraded my rig, I wasn't able to play BF1 at all. This( https://www.reddit.com/r/battlefield_one/comments/exe4mc/cant_join_game_in_bf1/ ) happened before today. After fresh reinstall, now it's giving me BSODs. All suggested *fixes* weren't so much help(Delete Origin cache, repair, reinstall etc). But other games(Overwatch/SC2) were running perfectly fine even on 5Ghz. I have ample cooling(Corsair H115i), right mobo(Gigabyte Z370P D3), enough RAM(4*8GB Dominator) and sufficient PSU(Corsair RM750X). No missing Windows update, latest bios, Nvidia driver is 441.87 etc. Could this be just bad lucked CPU? Or is BF1 just refusing me :/?

I'm inexperienced in most of this so I'd appreciate some help with this issue. I have an 8086K showing 104° on core 4 while the rest vary between 22-32°. When i assembled i used a pea sized dollop of Arctic MX-4 thermal compound and I'm using a thermaltake 360mm AIO liquid cooling system. I didn't lap or delid the 8086K either. I'm using Hardware Monitor to get my readings and have included a screen shot. Any advise is appreciated!

I´m about to replace my old 3930k rig with a new computer and currently waiting for the case to arrive before I can start building it. I´m gonna move over my EVGA GTX 1080 and 2 Samsung 850 evo ssd´s to the new computer. And also my Xonar Xense sound card with my Sennheiser PC350 headset. Here is the first boot! I´m using a stock Intel cooler and a random Corsair CX430M power supply just for this. I had to update the Bios from 02-something to 1704. I found a set of Phanteks cable extensions too. They are black and red, although they look more like LTT orange in the picture The keyboard I used for the first boot . My first keyboard from my first computer back in ´00. I saw some guy trying to sell one of those for like $500 ? I´m gonna use the old computer as a storage server and run Plex on it. Probably also to watch Twitch and Youtube while gaming on the new one. I have an old R9 290 for the old computer.

Hi I am planning to buy a pc and sort of in rush for it can't wait more as the more I wait the more money I spend from what I saved so far hhhhhhh. my goal to get the highest fps possible in competitive gaming so which one of these will do it ? i7 8086k VS 9900k? so I wait for the i9 9900k with z390 boards. or just buy right now 8086k 2nd reason to rush is my friend pc is crashing in every game we play so my plan is to give him my old hardware for friendly price and I upgrade to something that give me amazing fps in csgo, wow , dota etc..

TLDR: Is there a more accurate way of reading frequency? Task manager and HWMonitor aren't cooperating, even though voltages in HWMonitor appear to be correct at 1.16V I used my EVGA Z370 Classified K to overclock my 8086k to 4.6 all core and 4.7 5 core (I reduced the 1 core to 4.9 because I wanted to do it all on really low voltage, 5.0 and up wouldn't post with 1.16V.) I did this to improve a one-core mandelbrot calculation that was so awfully slow, because it calculated 500 iterations on one core. Other programs always being open in windows limited frequency to a mere 4.7, so I tried to make the low core usage 4.8 and up. After the overclock, task manager reported .8 GHz (nothing really surprising, task manager isn't the best at OC) and HWMonitor reported 4.3 all core frequency when I did some gaming. However, the mandelbrot calculation was smoother than before, with panning actually yielding a framerate of like 1.5 instead of being delayed by a couple seconds and translating all in one frame. What's more is my temps are even better, not even going above 60 on my mere 212 evo.

I'm planning to buy a PC this year and I am having a tough time trying to figure out what motherboard to buy. I will probably use optane to supplement a 2TB HDD for mass storage with a 256 GB NVME boot drive (All my games go into the HDD). For the display it would be an ASUS 32" XG32VQ 2k 144Hz Curved monitor. I won't be able to use freesync but its the only one available that has a 2k 144Hz resolution, and curved as well. For the CPU and GPU it would be an 8700k or 8086k (depending on availability) and RTX 2080 along with 16GB of RAM. I don't see myself upgrading any of it in the future besides adding another HDD. I would be using a wired connection. I would overclock the system. Use case would be Gaming and Productivity with Gaming being used more often. With all of these in mind I would like to ask the following questions: 1. What Motherboard would be best for this setup? (I'd use a case with a side panel so it being presentable/rgb would be a point for consideration) 2. Is going for 3600Mhz ram a must? or would the 3200Mhz variant suffice? 3. What cooler would you recommend? 4. I would like to take advantage of the high refresh rate, would an RTX 2080 be the right choice? Or should I just go for an RTX 2070 (Future Viability is my main concern). Thank you for your time and please just tell me if some parts are confusing to I can clarify.

Hi everyone, I've been reading about safe cpu voltages lately and it seems like no one has mentioned going above 1.39 for the cpu. I also noticed in hwmonitor my cpu's voltage is at 1.424 if I got that right. Is this safe for the cpu and it's life span? I have a h100i v2 as my cpu cooler.

Yeah so a few months ago I decided to purchase a pre-built pc (first mistake) which has an 8086k sitting in a ASRock Z370 Pro4 with some 120mm Coolermaster aio. I've always been trying to overclock it to 5ghz but its never stable no matter the voltage (tried all voltages from 1.250v - 1.4v). The most stable voltage I have found is 1.325v which handles CINEBENCH15 very well but only survives around 3 runs in ASUS RealBench 2.43 before reaching in the high 80s - low 90s degrees then crashing (idle temps are about 36-43 degrees). I thought the aio was the main issue so 3 days ago I replaced it with a Corsair h115i 280mm however nothing has changed. I was considering deli-dding but I have a feeling its probably not going to fix it also I've never done it and I don't really trust myself so at this point I am just considering getting a new mobo/cpu combo as I think one of them is defective, but I thought I would ask if anyone has any possible solutions or if im missing something in the overclocking process as im pretty new to it. Okay, given the specs in my profile, do you guys think I should get a 9900K in general (I mostly game and do basic productivity tasks for work)? Also, I already know I should have a better motherboard given my setup but would I absolutely have to upgrade to a z390 before I get it? I saw something on the MSI site saying they released a BIOS that supports the 9900K on it so I would think maybe I could get away with it. Also, I know given the PSU I have I should upgrade that too if I want the 9900K to run at 5Ghz across the cores with the 2080 TI (Since it lists 650 Watt as the minimum) but once again, do I need it before I upgrade or can I skate by for a bit? Could someone help me figure out why my MSI motherboard won't overclock properly, or perhaps I'm doing something wrong? Motherboard is a MSI MPG Z390I GAMING EDGE AC ITX. Processor is a 8086k I have tried to set it to 5Ghz in both the bios and in Dragon Centre on desktop, both the bios and dragon centre see it at 5Ghz but CPU-z and Task Manager don't see it above 4.3Ghz Is the chip locked to just 5Ghz on 1 core or should i be able to force OC on all cores? I've tried manually setting voltage and using auto but doesn't seem to make a difference, even tried a bios reset incase it was a glitch. I've never come across this with a MSI board and Intel chip before, my previous rig was a z97 and 4690k and I could OC easily Also anyone else with a 8086k, what's your lowest stable voltage at 5Ghz? I'm wanting to overclock it just because I can, but I also want to do it at the lowest stable voltage to keep heat down since it's an ITX build

So I'm wanting to OC my 8086k to something it can handle relatively easily and be at safe temps at the same time (I guess that's a duh). I was thinking all cores at 5GHZ. It turbos at 5GHZ but that's only one core if I remember correctly. It is not delided and I really don't plan on having it delided at this point as I have never tried this before and at my financial state, am not willing to take the risk of messing it up. I have never OC'd a CPU before either, so if someone could maybe point me to a VERY beginner friendly guide and/or maybe give me simple instructions it would be much appreciated. Without knowing how to OC yet, what values should I aim for to maintain safe temps taking into account that it is not delided? Is this even possible? All values I see are for delided 8086k's so I know I won't be able to push it that much without setting it on fire. Would 5GHZ get me any FPS gains in CPU intensive games or would I just be wasting my time?

My current build consists of an 8086k OC'd to 5GHZ and a 1080ti Asus Strix OC Edition running at 1440p. I am planning to upgrade my system with a 3080ti non-reference when they come out and am wondering if I should be expecting a bottleneck anywhere with AAA games or similar where my performance would be hindered? I know we don't have information on the 30-series and we don't have the numbers for future games like Cyberpunk etc, and that this would just be an educated guess, but I'll take what I can get. I'm not sure if there were any cases of the 8700k/8086k's bottlenecking 2080ti's (although it seems doubtful but what do I know) as I haven't paid any attention to the 2080ti's and am just wondering what you guys think.

so i am thinking about replacing my old computer because it is starting to show its age. (i7-4770k, gtx660, 8gb ddr3 ram) well, it has been showing its age for a while now. this new computer will mostly be used for gaming. but i will be doing some 3d design on it (mostly using Sketchup or CAD), basic photoshop, and some audio and video editing. nothing professional, just for personal projects and hobbies. i do plan on recording my games for YouTube, so it must be able to handle that. but again, this is is just for fun, something to share with my friends and family. i do not plan on making any money off of it. (i have been uploading videos to private so far) i might in the future (and this is a small maybe, most likely i will use a separate computer for it.) use this computer as a local server for my family, and run security surveillance system through it. i have a video card picked out (gtx 1080 ti) that i plan on getting used to save some money. (if this is a bad idea, let me know) , i plan on putting 32gb of ddr4 RAM, i will get an SSD m.2 of about 500gb (i am looking at one from WD right now) and a 2 TB HDD for mass storage. maybe a sata SSD instead of the HDD, but we will see. i plan on using 3 monitors, the center one will be 2k at ~120 HZ ultra wide for gaming. the two on the side will just be plain old 1080p which i will use for my various computer hobbies. i also want to future proof the computer, so that i just have to make some upgrades to it later on, and not have to replace it any time soon. yes, i plan on overclocking everything in the future, when it is needed. i also have a budget of $1800, but i am willing to go over if the performance gain is worth it. (although i will have to save up a little bit longer) i also live in California. so my question is.... i am looking at 3 different CPUs, i7-8086k, i7-7820x, and the i9-7940x (if i get the i9, i will go way over budget, but i am willing to do that if it is worth it) One other detail, i use cpubenchmark.net for my source. ( let me know if they are not a reliable source. ) it looks like to me that the 8086k is the best for gaming, with 6 cores (12 threads) @ 4.0 GHz and high single thread performance. I can also get it for ~$400 at best buy. but i am worried about future proofing it since it only has 6 cores. (which might be more than enough. IDK) the 7820x has 8 cores @ 3.6 GHz. slower per thread so not as good for gaming as the 8086k, but still very good. the higher core count might (hopefully) futureproof it more, and help with my other hobbies. i can get this guy from Fry's electronics for ~$450. last one i was looking at is the i9-7940x. this guy has 14 cores @ 3.1GHz. according to my source, it is just as fast per core as the 7820x but has way more cores. but it cost ~$1150 at newegg. my main concern with the 7940x is that i will never need all those cores. most games use 4 cores in total. (if i remember correctly) will games in the future use more than 4 cores? other CPUs i might have overlooked? (i am not getting a ryzen. not because i am team blue, i really do not care about that. but according to cpubenchmark, the ryzen is much slower per thread than intel. but again, let me know if i am wrong) thank you -Gary

Ever since Upgrading to 8086k from 4790k a week ago, I've been getting a very bizarre form of stuttering. The PC will stick, but the audio will screw up like it's crashing (the jittery buzz that a BSOD usually makes). However, the PC does this for a split second, then will usually go back to normal. Sometimes, however, the framerate takes a couple seconds to get out of the twenties. Things it is definitely not: - a bottleneck. The CPU is better than before, and I have the same graphics card. - temps. My CPU is around 65 after a 30 minute aida stress test.

My budget for a cooler is 40$ CAD before tax, right now I have the CRYORIG H7 on my part list, but I was wondering if there are higher tier coolers out there within my budget that can adequately cool the cpu. I'm a filthy casual who's not aiming to overclock, but im (probably) getting a Z370 board anyways (Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 5 with WIFI). I've come down to the 8700k and the 8086k as my next CPU and was wondering if anyone could help break the tie. I hear that the 8086 is more gimmicky than anything and is not worth the price premium. That's what some say and I came here to determine whether the $150+ difference would be worth it. I want the option to OC but it seems I would have to delid if I wanted to OC either card as the 8700 specifically runs hot.

So I'm waiting on my 8086k that should be here soon and in the meantime I've been watching videos on how to Overclock. I've never overclocked before and want to start out by putting the 8086k to 5 on all cores. Now I'm really new to all of this and want things to go smoothly. I watched this vid: But I'm still quite confused. I don't really know which setting is doing what or what I should be doing in my specific case. All I want to accomplish is 5.0 on all cores 24/7 with as cool of temperatures as I can get. Are there any easier overclocking guides that tell me step by step what to do? Like try this and then try this and if this happens go back and do this over again etc?
