Hey wonderful people, My PC is due for an upgrade and haven't been following the PC market lately. I need assistance looking for a GPU that: - Gets consistent 60+fps (bonus if it gets closer to 100fps+) Max details w/current system - less than $500 CAD (New/Used and flexible with price) - I plan to play the following games: PUBattlegrounds, Overwatch, Quake Champions, GTA 5 Current Specs: 144hz Asus Monitor, AMD FX-8320, Gigabyte Windforce AMD 7950 (one fan stopped spinning/stuck but still works), G.Skill 1600Mhz 8GB RAM Additional Notes: - I would like to know if its worth upgrading the whole system to achieve constant 100fps+ - I hope to get VR eventually, but that is likely after this year Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Well, the other day the PC in my sig crashed while watching YouTube. Upon restarting, it did not show an image on the monitor, after a couple of days of troubleshooting by myself I am at a loss, because, as the title says, when I switch over to the integrated graphics it shows up just fine in the UEFI, Windows 10 refuses to boot properly but works in safe mode where the GPU is also detected as a 7900 series gpu, and, when I went to flash the bios, ATIFlash also had no trouble with flashing, nor did it give any errors, but the card still refuses to show an image after I switch over to it as my primary output device in the UEFI, no matter how I configure it, igpu enabled, disabled, whatever, runing it on PCIe gen 1, 2 or 3. I've not tried all of the ports because I don't have a DP monitor handy, but the other 3 do not work. My Z77 Extreme3 is on the 1.50 BIOS revision The Sapphire 7950 DualX got flashed from the original BIOS to 015.040.000.001.000000, and back to original, and back to 015.040.000.001.000000 I'd hate to put it in the oven or what have you, but I'll try if it really is my last resort. If that fails, would it perhaps work in CF with the other 7950 handling the output? BTW, as I currently do not have the money to buy a new GPU, which games run on HD4000 integrated graphics?

Hi LTT forums. so over the past few years ive had my trusty HD7950 and all has been good until recently, in the last year or so ive been getting into overclocking it and increasing the overclock every now and then just to test the limits. today i encountered a very odd issue. At first my Graphics card was stuck at 500mhz (i previously had it at 1.1ghz) and would not change; however reinstalling afterburner and restarting my pc fixed it. then about 5 or 10 minutes later, after reapplying my overclock, i started to get artifacts on the desktop. I tried lower overclocks but it seems anything over stock causes the artifacts. so i overclocked as normal and tried to play a game (PUBG) and i got no artifacts whatsoever in the game. when i have my gpu on stock speeds and voltages, there are no artifacts on the desktop at all. I've tried switching monitors to my old monitor i had before replacing it with my current one and there was no artifacts in windows on that monitor. so im really confused as to what the problem is could it be the overclock or possibly just the dual monitor setup? or is my 7950 finally dying? any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hello everybody, This is a very weird little problem. I got a AMD 7950 Sapphire 3GB Edition card. This problem tho is that it is not giving any output to the ports (HDMI, DVI, DP). The card has been used with another same card but not in crossfire. So i had a screen connected to it and it worked fine. Recently I wanted to move the card to a different pc and saw that It did not output anything. When i moved it back to my main pc i got the error B6 (or b2 idk anymore) wich means Legacy Bios initalization failed. So I used the intel hd graphics to go into Atiflash on my second pc. It did recognize the card but this is what i saw when i run the following commands: atiflash -ai atiflash -i I tried upgrading the bios serval times but no luckl at all. It's a really weird story and can't seem to fix this problem. If anyone could help me that would be amazing!

Hi all I love building PC's of all shapes and sizes but as we know it is so expensive at the moment; so for entertainment I decided to dig out some old components. HD 7950 sapphire 2Gb 8Gb DDR3 SSD/HDD available AMD A4-4000 A55 micro ATX motherboard I thought it would be fun to build a HTPC for the front room but the processor is not up for the task. My question is, what processor could I get for the motherboard that would run 720p games on my TV or would I need to change more components. Thanks

My system: i7 3770K 16GB Corasir Vengeance RAM (1600Mhz) Sapphire AMD 7950 OC Edition Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H Kingwin Lazer 1000 Watt PSU Windows 7 Pro OK, so my system is a little over 5 years old now and I've just replaced the hard drive and SSD a few months back as one was crapping out on me. I had my system on and I had just paused a YouTube video (funny enough, I think it was a Linus video) I came back from getting some water and I had a black screen and I couldn't do anything with my system. I powered down the system and tried to boot up, I see various colored lines over the motherboard splash screen and then I see the Windows loading screen, then it goes black. I left it for 15 minutes and still nothing. I pressed (I didn't have to hold) the power button and it turned off. I tried this a few time and once I got into windows with all of the colored lines on the screen, but in the 5 times or so I've tried to boot with it since then, it hasn't gotten past the black screen after the Windows loading screen. Since then I've tried booting without the card in there and it boots fine and the system has been usable for a few days since this happened. Today I was able to get my hands on another graphics card I'm borrowing from a friend and with that one it boots just fine, no lines or any other issues. So my card is likely toast, but my question is this, what kind of options do I have for repairing the card? Is there a good thread for this already or a good site that could help me along with it? I just want to keep it going for a few months until (hopefully) the mining craze dies down and prices relax a bit. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi everyone. I'm in desperate need of any advice you can give me about the recent PC crashing I'm getting. My rig: - Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 Vapor-X OC 3GB - AMD FX-8320 Blac edition 3.5 GHz (3.7GHz boost) - 8GB DDR3 Corsair XMS3 1600Mhz - Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P - Corsair AX750 Gold It started today (after a week or so not using the PC) and it basically just crashes without turning the PC off, all I see on the screen are vertical lines sometimes wider, sometimes thinner and different colors (blue-ish white, brown-ish green etc.). The pc is not producing sound or anything. This happens when I play a game for about 5-15 minutes or so, or even if I just watch YouTube, Twitch etc. (anything web related). The only thing I haven't tried is just letting it run on desktop. Before I started tempering with the drivers I stress tested the GPU with OCCT and it crashed 3 seconds in. Than I uninstalled the GPU drivers in safe mode with DDU and reinstalled them through AMD auto detect app. Still it crashes. The temperatures arent high at all since the fans don't even run at half speed when it crashes. I even opened the GPU and reapplied a fresh batch of thermal paste (it had the original paste aince I bought it cca 4-5 years ago). After the application I stress tested it again for 7 minutes, the temps got to 78°C and no crash. But then I got into PUBG and after 15 minutes of gameplay it crashed. I doubt that if I fresh install windows it will get fixed so I didn't try that. Pictures of the problem are attached. Any help would be appriciated!

Hey! First time for everything right? I've been a long time lurker of the LTT forum and an acid watcher of LTT for years however now I'm needing advice. My card is getting pretty... Old, it's served me well but it's starting to underperform. As a student, I don't have the funds to upgrade to even a 480 (;-;) so I'm trying to get the last bit of life from my card before I'm forced to find some way to get a new one. Anyway, the card. It's a Sapphire HD 7950 with 3GB GDDR5. It sits with an FX 8320, 16GB DDR3 in a case with good cooling. How does one start the OC procedure? I'll need a full walk through unfortunately. I have MSI Afterburner installed and ready! Any questions, please ask me.

I have two Gigabyte Windforce RadeonHD 7950's. One uses the stock 7950 board, and the other is a later model that re-used their 7970 board/power design. Oh and the analog out is broken on the 7970 boards DVI port. Would it be worth trying to sell them at 100$ a piece to get the cash for a RX 480? I realize the performance wouldn't be an improvement, but considering crossfire support is sketchy, and all the other things that go with it. I think the 480x at its worst would be as good as my crossfire setup at its best.

Hi! I am pretty new here, wanted to hear what you guys and gals think I should do. Currently my PC has a FX6300 and an XFX 7950. Was wondering what should I upgrade first and to what. I can only really afford to upgrade one thing right now. Budget of around $150 CAD and whatever I can sell what I am switching out for. I am not averse to buying used if that will get me a good deal. I live in Toronto, if that helps. Thank you so much!

I am close to buying a used PC with these specs: These are the specs as they are listed on the site (Swedish site). The PC is 5200 SEK with the monitor, which is currently $640 US. I'd figure the monitor is worth at least 700 SEK in second-hand value. I can most likely afford this PC right now, but I can't afford a good new PC at the moment. However, insurance from burglary has yet to pay up. I am expecting several thousand SEK. I'm wondering if a 7950, and this PC, is enough to max out (except for AA and other post-effects, since I don't use them) Alien: Isolation, Arma 2, Batman: Arkham Origins, Borderlands 2, Crysis, Crysis 2, Fallout 4, GTA V, Max Payne 3, Metro 2033, and Tomb Raider, at 60 FPS and 1080p. These are currently my most intensive Steam games, and games overall. Is it worth it, or should I wait if I want to play these games at these settings? How long before a 7950 needs upgrading? What about crossfire? I can't find a 7950 or 7970 anywhere, same with 280/280x. Should I upgrade it with an 1180/1180Ti once it comes out? Is the PC worth keeping at that point, or is it too old? I also do video game making, 3D modelling, video editing, and other stuff like that. Is this good enough, still? I, optimally, want a rig that can do 4K video editing, as I'll be keeping it for a long while.

I've been into computer hardware for quite a while... but, I haven't been able to solve this problem for months. Specs are in tag, my GPU's are showing random throttling in no matter what game I play. One of my 7950's started artifact (verified by trouble shooting), I sent it and got a replacement. With crossfire enabled AND disabled, my GPU's always seem randomly throttling. After replacing said 7950's, the problem seemed to lessened. But I still get the same random throttling. Artifacts have started to appear AGAIN. I have tried both cards together and separately. One card seems to be slightly "worse" than the new replacement card I got. But they both exhibit problems. Monitor is 34UM95

Is my GPU measuring temp in °F but somehow the softwares are showing it in °C? I have changed the themal compound and the GPU does not feel that hot to touch. Manually changing the Fan speed does not change much either. Can anyone tell me if I can check this somewhere? GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 Vapor-X OC Boost Not overclocked and running stock BIOS. I have found a $50 sapphire HD 7950 vapor x for sale however it does not display a picture. I contacted the guy and he said that the fans still come on normally when the card is plugged in. Does this sound like a dead card? Or is it possible to fix this?

Hey guys! First time poster in need of help with some overclocking issues. So I just started tinkering with overclocking a Little more seriously and got my fx-6350 up to a satisfying 4.6 GHz. Decided to stop there for now and save space (?) for a GPU overclock. I'm using 3dmark firestrike and got to a pretty satisfying 970 MHz core Clock and 1300 MHz memory Clock (decided to leave the memory low since I've Always had issues with overclocking that). Now the problem was that 3dmark ran those settings all fine and dandy, but as soon as I booted a game up (Black Mesa, Witcher 3) it capped at 860 and 1250 (810 and 1250 is stock speeds). I decided to settle with those numbers and not touch the voltage (1.09V) until I can get my hands on an aftermarket cooler since the stock one is pretty crap (sapphire) and it's already at a, in my opinion, toasty 70 degrees Celsius. I've been using MSI AB since I had some issues with the crimson overdrive (seems fixed now but still) and the two does seem to cooperate pretty well. Now I'm thinking the boost-function (?) is still enabled which overrides any Clock above the boosts settings. I looked around further into the BIOS to find some kind of setting for that, but to no avail... I am stumped, and quite frankly a bit sad about being capped like this as I don't Think the GPU is getting throttled by the CPU. HWMonitor shows GPU up working at 99% while CPU is only at around 70% in witcher 3. I attached a CPU-Z report with all the specs and current settings, but for a brief summary: FX-6350 @ 4.6 GHz Sapphire 7950 @ 970 core 1300 mem (860, 1250) 16 GBs Corsair Vengeance DDR3 Corsair RM850 (overkill, I know) Dual monitors at 60 Hz 1920x1080p (tried using just one, didn't help) GA-78LMT-USB rev 4.1 with latest BIOS Samsung HD103SJ 900 GB HDD Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB SSD (OS) Sorry for the wall of text, I tried to be as brief as possible (also to no avail) and I hope all this will ring a bell somewhere. Thank you guys, and stay awesome! /Jtime DESKTOP-OAS8JEG.txt

I currently have an AMD FX4350 CPU, and a 7950DD in my setup. I feel like I am getting lackluster performance in games as of late. I am almost certain my CPU is the problem in this scenario, but would like to know if it's a combination of the two, being that the 7950 is starting to show it's age. Would I be ok with just upgrading my CPU and MOBO to say, a mid-range I5? Or should I just replace all 3? Thanks in advance!

Hey guys. I'm in the market for a used GPU at around £100. I've looked at GPUShack, which has some decent deals for their 7950s. I'm wondering if a 7950 would be enough for my needs. I'm currently gaming on a 1680x1050 monitor, but will upgrade to a 1080p IPS monitor soon. I plan on playing new AAA games, and would like to play near high/max settings. However, I am fine with gaming at 30fps, being originally a console gamer. Thanks.

As the title says, my old XFX 7950 has no video output when plugged into my computer. I upgraded my GPU to a GTX 970, and am now going to sell the card, and was wondering whether there was any quick way to fix the issue? The cards seems to be working fine apart from this issue If not I will sell the card as is for a lower price. Thanks!

Ok so the AMD crossfire chart says that an R9280x is compatible with a 7970 or R9280x, but also states that the 7970 is compatible with the R9280x, 7950, and 7950, and then says that the 7950 is compatible with the R9280x, 7950, and 7970. Can somebody please explain this to me as i was think about Crossfiring all these cards together, and if i can would you tell me what is the best way to crossfire these cards

If so, overall, how is it? Thanks!

Hello I have a XFX 7950 with 3GB memory. It’s not been used lately. When I tried to install it in my computer, it all seemed normal when installing drivers. I started a game, GTA V, and the fans was spinning faster. Before I got to the main menu the fans was spinning at what sounded like 100% and I thought the computer was going to lift from the floor because the noise was so high. Suddenly the screen blacked out. I tried to restart but the screen got no signal. Does anyone have a clue on what might be wrong?
