Hello everyone! I’m seeking help today with my new PC build, I am having an extremely hard time multitasking with my new build. Simply if I have a game open and wish to type or interact on discord or even do a quick google search everything slows to a crawl and seems unstable. The components I have used are as follows: CPU: 7900x GPU: 3090 strix white RAM: 64GB Corsair vengeance 6400mhz CL36 MOBO: Asus Strix X670E-A Storage: Corsair MP700 Cooler: NZXT Kraken 360 Elite PSU: Corsair RM850 Also I have the most updated Bios and drivers for all my equipment, I am at a loss entirely. I feel like I have a ram issue though because when I go to enable to EXPO I have more stability issues. Any help is appreciated and thank you for your time.

Okay I'm a bit at my wits end. My original specs are: CPU: 7900X GPU: 3080 MB: Asus X670-E TUF Power: Corsair 1000e RAM RAM: 16*2 Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5-6000 For about a year, I've had start up issues, and even when it would start, there was a chance the networking wouldn't work. It would either be the networking drivers were missing and I would try to reinstall the not functioning pcie in device manager (I realize I forgot the specific part in device manager), or the networking would be present but not working. Trying to reinstall the drivers were always hit and miss. The power supply would always function, but just to be sure, I had a spare PS, 750 watt EVGA. I would hook up the EVGA to CPU and motherboard, since I didn't want to rewire everything to test, while everything else is on the Corsair PS. It would be the same result. I decided I was going to see about RMA the motherboard, so I got a Gigabyte B650 board to at least hopefully be able to still have a useful computer. I just put in that new motherboard and lights on some fans would flicker, but would never be able to get it to boot. I redid all the power cables, but still nothing. I then used the EVGA PS for just the motherboard. Lights for fans not going through the MB, GPU all turn on, but still nothing as far as booting. I then redo everything with just the EVGA PS and still nothing. I reseated the CPU in case that was an issue, and still nothing. So between 2 PS, 2 MB, 1 CPU, and 1 GPU, I'm kind of drawing blanks what it could be. Could the CPU just be the dud? I did have issues at first when I built it originally a year ago, but with BIOS updates, those became better. I did also clear CMOS on the GB MB just to make sure as well. I'd rather avoid if at all possible replacing the CPU. The extra MB was at least cheap enough I don't mind having a spare. But I don't really need a spare CPU.

Hi all, I just built a new PC for mainly productivity and occasional gaming, based around the 7900x and Asus Prime x670-p wifi. Bought reasonably latest gen stuff for a bit of future-proofing. No GPU yet as this was already unbelievably expensive (Europe prices and my last build was 15 years ago). See parts here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/m34fFs I built it yesterday, new Windows 10 install, installed all latest drivers, updated BIOS. Today I'm experiencing a couple of concerning things: - random graphics driver crashes when using hardware accelerated desktop apps (the screen freezes, goes to black and comes back with an Adrenaline bug report) - Bluetooth works randomly. My Bluetooth keyboard will sometimes disconnect for a few seconds. Yesterday right after the upgrade Windows showed the device as connected but it would hang looking for new devices. It'll stop working after sleep. I only perceived this after the bios update, but I can't clearly blame it on the update. - boots are relatively slow. I think this is a known issue with the chipset, and not something that upsets me much, but still. I don't know how to go about diagnosing the issues and what to try out. Is this common for x670 boards? Any help would be appreciated.

Budget (including currency): the build will cost the same for both cup's. Build: case - 4000d airflow Power supply- corsair RM750e GPU - ZODAC RTX 2060 (planning on an upgrade in a year or two) Ram - corsair 32gb 5600mhz cl 36 CPU cooler - Peerless Assassin 120 SE) Motherboard- Gigabyte B650M GAMING X AX for the 7800x3d Gigabyte Z790 UD AX for the 14600k Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: mainly for games ( games: Apex legends, Elden ring, Cyberpunk 2077, Remnant II, Overwatch ) but also for programming I am starting to learn computer science this year so in the future ill need to compile codes etc... Other details: running games on 1440p (screen refresh rate 170hrz) monitor: M27q Gigabyte (High priority) stability and reliability are very important , I currently run i7 10700 and I've never had an AMD CPU before so will the 7800x3d be buggy? (lower priority) Also I am aware of the energy cost being way higher for the 14600k and I am interested to know by how much? (live in EU) To add to the confusion I just found the the 7900x cost the same as the 7800x3d and the 14600k. Thanks!

Hello, recently I have made a new computer, it has a Ryzen 9 7900x, 32gb of ddr5 ram, a 850w psu, a 3090, and a h150i capellix aio. After a long render session blender started to come up with "illegal address" and cuda errors, and my screen had green artifacts and games did aswell. So In response, I restarted my pc, and then did a clean reinstall of the drivers (studio this time) yet the problem still persists, I have asked other people and they seem to think that the 3090 has vram issues, which could be a possibility due to it being a refurbished GPU from Amazon. I am just wanting to see what you all think is the problem, and if I should just return it and get a replacement from amazon. Images below are artifacts in games, the specific game is in fortnite and similar or worse artifacts appear in other games.

I'm trying to decide which of these both processors to put in my new build: Intel Core i7-13700K AMD Ryzen 9 7900X The Ryzen total system cost is slightly cheaper (about 5000₽/60$), but I'm not very worried about cost. I'm going to do video editing and gaming. I know that the i7 has Quicksync, but does AMD have better overall performance?

I recently bought a MicroCenter bundle that included the AMD Ryzen 9 7900x, ASUS B650E-F ROG Strix Gaming WiFi and a G.Skill Flare X5 Series 32GB DDR5-6000 Kit. I noticed that with all stock/default motherboard settings and sitting on desktop with as few applications open as possible, the CPU is pulling about 40W at idle. I noticed my idle temps also don't fall below 40c. This computer is intended to be left on to power the computer for Parsec, Hyper-V, Plex and an NVR, with personal gaming occuring for about an hour a day. Not only is this computers being used as a shared resource but the boot issues with Zen 4 have been frustrating to work through. Since this computer will be sitting idle for the large majority of the time, I'm looking for ways to cut down on idle wattage as much as I can. The only steps I have tried to net any sort of improvement have been turning off Core Performance Boost and setting the curve optimzer to a -20 offset, which netted me about a 5 watt improvement at idle. Disabling an entire CCD had no impact on idle power and actually led to issues launching World of Warcraft. Disabling cores from BIOS did not have an impact. Not sure what else I can try to reduce idle wattage. Other parts: 3 m.2 SSDs, 3 SATA HDDs, 1 internal blu ray drive, RTX 3060 Ti, Seasonic TX-750 PSU, Noctua NH-U12S redux

Budget (including currency): 5000 Country: CAN Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Games & work Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Currently I have i7 7700K and GTX 1080. I am planning to upgrade this year either with Ryzen 7 7900X or i9 13900K depending which ever come 1st RTX 4090 when ever it comes out this year I am thinking to buy the 1300W PSU and the Fractal Torrent Case 1st if they go on sale before the new chip launch. As in the rumors its been said RTX 4090 it can take upto 500W so 1300W PSU should be safe bet i am guessing. Guys let me know your thoughts so i can plan my future build Thanks in advance

I'm building a new rig and I have an opportunity to choose between those two CPUs for a good price and I'm not sure wich one to pair with a 3440x1440 monitor. At 1080p, youtube tests show that they have similar results. I wonder if it's woth to get the higher core count one. Thanks in advance.

I currently have an i7-8700 CPU in my build paired with an EVGA RTX 3070Ti and an EVGA SuperNOVA 850 P5 PSU. Given the price drop for Ryzen 9 7900X to $439 at Amazon and the 13700K still costing $429, do you recommend upgrading to Intel or to AMD? I'll mostly use it for gaming. I also know I have to factor in the cost of new RAMs if I go for AMD. Another option can be to wait if the costs will go lower next year, but I don't know, so I would like your suggestions. Thanks in advanced!

So I just finished building my first PC and I eventually reached the point where I wanted to test it with a game and I chose Persona 5 Royal. Obviously not a demanding game. It has sub-50 fps just on the title screen. I made sure that it was set to use the 4080 and it would still have low fps. According to Afterburner it is using over 95%. Operating System: Windows 11 Pro 64 Bit CPU: Ryzen 9 7900x GPU: MSI Ventus 3x OC 4080 PSU: be quiet! Dark Power 12 1000w RAM: G. Context I'm building a PC for a friend of mine who will regularly travel with his tower (1000km trips from one house to another). He will be using the PC mainly for his work (AI, ML &co) and gaming. For storage I was planning: Main drive: Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 3.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive Secondary drive: Crucial BX500 2 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive Tertiary drive: Western Digital Blue 4 TB 3.5" 5400 RPM Internal Hard Drive The main drive will contain the OS, games he plays regularly and other frequently accessed files. The secondary will contain stuff he accesses regularly but less often and the third will be a sort of "cold storage". Build details Here is the build on Pcpartpicker Mobo: Gigabyte B650 GAMING X AX So.AM5 DDR5 ATX Case: Sliger Cereberus X ATX My questions: Should I include a HDD in his build considering the fact that the PC will travel or should I avoid it all together ? His ride is pretty smooth and he won't have to carry the PC around much but it'llstill move more than a fixed setup. I'd like to add RAID1 in his setup to mitigate the potential damage of a drive failure. I'm hesitating between RAID1'ing his first drive or the second one. Raiding the secondary drive wouldn't impact the speed of his system while still providing redundancy for important files. Any comments on the build ? I picked the mobo semi randomly (m.2 slots + wifi + ram speed + not costing 400€)

I wonder how far these chips will overclock on air or water. Hopefully the TIM won't hold these chips back. https://hothardware.com/news/intel-core-i9-7900x-overclocked-to-57ghz-cinebench

It is a know rumor that X299 chipsets being leaked everywhere. While at it, AnandTech forum member "Sweepr" posted some interesting specs about upcoming processors (could be a rumor). Listing out some interesting processor naming scheme such as Intel Core i9. This list includes CPUs that are listed for release in June, though there is also Intel's rumored 12-core Skylake-X flagship, which is listed for an August release. If the above table is true, they're after AMD to smash their Ryzen 7 lineup. Looking at those 7820x and 7900x those Boost Clock speeds are higher than Ryzen 7 1800x. This could be useful in many ways! - L2 cache = 1MB (Skylake-X), 4x as much as Core i7-7700K - Dual DDR4-2666 for Kaby Lake-X / Quad DDR4-2666 for Skylake-X - 112W for Kaby Lake-X / up to 160W for Skylake-X - Apparently all Core i9 parts support AVX-512 (TBC) - Launch in June, except 7920X (August) For 10-Core Skylake-X benchmark, Click Here. For 12-Core Skylake-X benchmark, Click Here. From WCCFTech (obviously not the best place for trustworthy source) As for the pricing, Intel could price this over $2000. Because, previously i7-6950x was priced around 1700 bucks. So, they'll definitely increase the price for i9, if this is true. Source: OverClock3D.net, AnandTech, WCCFTech.

Hey, I recently bought an i9 7900x and when i was stress testing it with aida 64 stock I was hitting 80 degrees on the package. This was worrying to me as I bought a very expensive watercooling rig consisting of an: Alphacool Monsta XT45 540MM Radiator EK Supremacy EVO EK D5 Pump Noctua NF-A14 3000 PWM Fans Looking at other peoples temperatures, I knew this was not normal and I am just looking for any suggestions as to what it might be because I honestly have no idea.

Guys I need education. I work in I.T. for a state government. We're old school, and won't buy anything with the 'gaming' moniker. We're in need of some enthusiast/extreme systems. Minimum specs for the software we're looking at are 6900K/GTX 1080/64gig/512SSD/6TB HDD. Yes, those are minimum. Their recommended, I'm not even going to mention here and it's overkill for the product anyways. We're budget conscience because it's tax payer dollars we're spending. So here's our dilemma. We need 5 workstations, we need to buy via lowest bidder, we can't buy used, we can't buy parts and build in house (i would totally do this if i could), we can't buy anything labeled as gaming, or anything that looks like gaming (i.e. RGB, side windows, fancy cases, water cooling). We can't buy a Dell Alienware Area 51 basically. It's too 'gaming' but would TOTALLY meet the specs. Besides boutique custom build companies like Maingear, iBuypower, Titansystems etc, I don't know who else makes systems of this level but with a business/government look. When we purchase out of contract, we require at least 3 bids (normally 5), so once again another hurdle. If anyone knows of 3-5 companies that build super HEDT's for businesses that aren't targeted at gaming please, please, please can you give me their names? PS, we're trying to actually save tax dollars and not buy Dell's recommended $12,000+ dual Xeon/64gig ECC system that actually is a lower performing workstation, and a complete rip-off imho. And unfortunately, it's a Windows only software suite, so no MAC Pros. Thanks

im in a big need to upgrade my system so i was thinking of getting a i9-7900X but iv herd that the i9-7900X has cooling problems even when not overclocked i'm wondering if my current cooling set up will be able to cool it my cooler is corsair h110i https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181101 and my case is a be quiet! SILENT BASE 800 https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811734001 it currently cools my i5 6600k (not overclocked) to an average temp of 37c at idle due to how hot my room gets do i need to get a different case and/or cooler to cool the i9-7900X im doing a a lot of 3d rendering and 4k video editing now so i need this upgrade i have no need for a better GPU because i have 2 gtx 1080tis in sli i do not plan on overclocking my budget for the CPU is 1500$ so cost is not an issue im new so if a put this Topic in the wrong spot pleas let me know

Hwbot member Sofos1990 has managed to overclocked his Intel 7900X 10 core cpu from the stock clock of 3.3GHz all the way up to 6.01GHz, with the help of LN2 of course. The system configuration he used to achieve that clock speeds, has a, Intel Core i9-7900X G.Skill Trident Z 120 GB Neutron SSD GIGABYTE X299 SOC Champion Corsair AX 1500i PSU Liquid Nitrogen This got him a Hwbot prime score of 12,189.52 points, making it the world record in the 10 cores cpu category. http://hwbot.org/submission/3594514_sofos1990_hwbot_prime_core_i9_7900x_12189.52_pps/ http://wccftech.com/intel-core-i9-7900x-skylake-x-cpu-overclocked-6-01-ghz-liquid-nitrogen-become-worlds-fastest-single-cpu-hwbot-record/

Troubleshooting Help: What is your parts list? 2x strix 1080 Ti with waterblock (I know 1 of them works 100% because I've used it in the past) 7900x delidded from caseking.de asus prime deluxe 2x 16 GB gskill ripjaws 3200mhz 16cl m.2 nvme ssd corsair ax1500i Describe your problem. List any error messages and symptoms. Be descriptive. Oh boy. After finally completing the build I plugged the 24pin cable into the motherboard and started my PC, all motherboard lights turn on, my monitor sais there is no signal; ASUS q code error on the LED display has a little CPU picture on it and the code is 00 which research has shown to mean it can't even get passed the first step. As I was filling my watercooling loop I jumpered the 24pin cable and could fill my loop, have fans running all no bother. List anything you've done in attempt to diagnose or fix the problem. A single ram stick in every configuration replaced displayport cable and replugged it into every display port on the (2) GPUs Used the reset button and turn on button on motherboard Cleared cmos. Replaced all cables used from PSU, (I know PSU works from previous build) Removed the 8x power cable to the cpu, resulting in a red light turning of indicating me to plug it in. Post relevant photos of build/parts here. https://imgur.com/gallery/1e8t2 Provide any additional details you wish below. I've built a few systems before so I doubt that my incompetence is the issue, I'd be happy if it was though from my research error code 00 means either the CPU or the motherboard is at fault.. I'm all out of ideas. Thanks for reading my post.

Hello guys I'm looking for information about this everywhere without any luck, maybe someone have some experience on this and would like to be educated on the matter. Sometime ago I returned a core i9 CPU to Intel because all the sudden turn off with a 00 code on the motherboard (MSI) I RMA both.. old treat: HERE. Anyways both of them are back and working; however, I'm still unable to sleep, overclock or enable XMP again. Someone on the old post suggest to change the PSU. I did not agree because it was working with others PC fine, so I order a new motherboard thinking the MSI does not have double CPU Power connector, so I order an Asus. The Asus boots fine, but as soon as I enable XPM it die.. Try everything like bios reset, bios re-flash without luck. With my finger cross (thinking I blow the CPU again) i transfer everything back to MSI and it works fine. So i decide to change the PSU. I buy a 1000 Watts (coming from 860) Turns out it fail again with a sleep test (00 CPU Code), Luckily the MSI have a double bios setup, so by switching to the second one everything reset to default and Computer boots. 20 something years dealing with computers......never seen an issue like this. Current settings: Sleep Mode disable. No XMP No Overclocking Note: Only difference with old system is add and extra set of RAMS. Now all slots populated 8x sticks to a total of 64G. (Please keep in mind it was 32G when it fails the first time) The RAMS are Corsair LPX 3200. 4 whites and 4 Blacks (I don't think they differ besides just the color) I can sacrifice the overclocking and even the XMP but not being able to sleep is killing me. I render videos (only reason for the core i9) and most time i let then running overnight. Waking up to a full on computer doing nothing bothers me (Electricity and wear, etc $$$) Anyone? Thanks in advance.

I wanna start off by saying this is my first post ever? Maybe my first post in a long time? I don't really know. I came upon a i9-7900x it does not say that on the heat spreader though, It says confidential 3.3ghz. I wonder if it's worth more or less due to it being a sample or something like that. Is it binned better or anything like that? Any input is greatly appreciated!!

I have been running a 7900x for a couple years now. For about the last year it has been direct die cooled (der8auer tools). Since I first did direct die cooling, I have had worse CPU temps. I'm talking like 50c on core 2 and 100 and thermal throttling on core 8. It has been one of those problems that is just at the back of my mind but I haven't gotten around to fixing (busy year)... UNTIL NOW! (maybe) I believe the problem is that my specific die is more convex that usual dies. I tried all sorts of different mounting pressures and torque rotations to make sure it was not just a simple mounting issue, but I am convinced it is a problem with die height consistency. Since these chips have been out a while now, is there anyone who has ran a skylake x chip with a lapped die using liquid metal? Is there any data showing that it eventually seeps through into the chip and breaks it? I remember it being a concern in 2018, but I have not seen any examples of people that ran a setup like mine long term. If this is my best option to fix it, is there any suggestions for decently priced calipers and super fine sand paper? I checked harbor freight already and they don't have what I need lol. Also, is there potentially a way to make my coolers cold plate more concave? that might solve the issue with less risk to my cpu.

Trying to get this new rig working properly and I'm pulling my hair out at this point. Building a DAW/gaming rig. The primary use of this rig is to run Ableton Live 10, Pro Tools, Studio One and some other music related stuff, along with some casual gaming. Most of my work is done within Ableton and that is my biggest concern. I am having an issue getting Ableton to run. Throws a generic crash dialog with no code. "A Serious Error has Occurred..." Here is what I have done so far and I'm baffled. -4 reinstalls of Windows 8.1 (one via DVD, three via USB) -Way too many reinstalls of Ableton and Microsoft .Net Framework -Update Windows -Update BIOS -Replace MOBO and update BIOS -Replace CPU -Swapped in the System Drive SSD (SATA) from my currently functional AMD rig (booted up fine but threw the same error) -Try each stick of memory, individually, in different channels. -Different GPU -Cry a lot Specs: ASUS Prime Deluxe X299 7900x Thermaltake 360mm AIO with fans in push-pull 32GB (4x8GB) Ballistix Sport 2666 Rosewill Xtreme 80plus Bronze 750w (had a brand new one laying around, old but unused) Nvidia 1060 (also tried an old R7 360) Samsung 870 Evo 500GB M.2 NVME (system drive) WD Blue M.2 SSD 1TB (having an issue now with this drive not being seen, even in the bios and disk manager) WTF am I missing here? This setup should be totally overkill for Ableton.
