From the album: Overclocked HIS HD Radeon 7850
This is my overclock running Kombustor. -
Hi, I want to overclock my graphics card, but I am not sure about a safe and stable one, and I don't want to risk my card, trying to find one. All I want to know is what is the safest overclock, that wouldn't damage the card in any way. Thank you for all the replies, if there are going to be any.

Hi, I want to know if I can run my 7750 with a 7850 in crossfire, yes I know that one has much better performance than the other, but I would need slightly more VRAM I guess. Also you guys have to know, that I have both cards in my possesion, so it isn't in the matter of buying one. All I need to know is if I can run these two cards together, even in the slightest. PC Specs: CPU: i5 3350P MOBO: Gigabyte H77-DS3H RAM: 8GB of 1333mhz RAM Current GPU: Gigabyte HD 7850 OC 2GB PSU: I don't know Case: some case from CM

So I've gotten myself a Radeon HD 7850. It's an overclocking beast and it's a known fact, I've reached 1050MHZ on the core without touching the memory clock for now. The problem is, no matter which software I use the voltage limit for the thing seems to be 1.210V, the same exact voltage that the card automatically ramps up to if any stressful workload is applied. Now as long as I remember, stock Radeon 7850 cards have the stock voltage somewhere around the 1.18V mark, correct me if I'm wrong. I'm using a VTX3D HD 7850, and I'm just wondering, am I doing something wrong, am I using the wrong software or is it a BIOS limitation of that certain card? For now I have tried MSI AB, Trixx and even AMD overdrive found in the CCC, nothing works really. Thanks guys

Hi guys I got an old pc with and Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz processor with stock cooler and 6 gigs of DDR3 ram (unknown brand) 1333MHz. And i am wondering if i can put a HD7850 graphic card in the machine without replacing the PSU. The one that sits in the machine at the moment is an old FSP350-60MDN which has an onput on 350watt. I know that the E8400 has an TDP at 65watt, so in my mind that would leave (approx) some 285 watt to the GPU but i am not sure. There will be no OC on the machine and the only purpose for it will be just an video machine, ergo youtube and movies. Should i try with the PSU or should i get another one?

Hey all My friend was working on a graduation project on his pc, but when he connected an audio cable the display suddenly turned black (no signal) although the PC was still running. A manual restart didn't solve the problem. He has an AMD 7850 and an old AMD cpu (he can't recall it's full name) that doesn't have an iGPU. He knows another person with the same GPU (the 7850) who's facing the exact same problem. What can he do to solve the problem without losing progress on the project ? can this be caused by a new driver possibly killing the GPU ? (btw I have the latest driver and my r9 390 is fine) thanks in advance

is flashing a 7850 to r7 265 possible ? (how ?)

I recently got a PowerColor 7850 PCS+, it was a upgrade from a graphics card (msi 6450) that already came when i bought the computer a couple weeks ago. (got it for $300, cannot beat that) Before installing the card , i used this tool called "Display Driver Uninstaller" that people recommend using before installing a new card. I installed the card and everything (drivers etc), but what i noticed is that 8.1 stutters alot more, when i am on chrome the pages lag to load, when i play games like mw2 , it has fps drops even when i lower the settings down (even if this gpu should run it in max) , i am not sure what is causing this. Temps are perfect , & it does not pass 75c on furmark but after when i am done using the benchmark , it tends to start stuttering more. What should i do ? Also , it cannot be the ram because when i had the 6450 it wouldn't do this. Specs , CPU: AMD FX-6300 Black Edition Non-Overclock 3.5 GHz GPU: PowerColor 7850 PCS+ 2GB GDDR5 (Upgrade From Msi 6450 2gb) MOBO: BIOSTAR A960D+ RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 PSU: LEPA MX-F1 N350-SB 350W (Running Dual 4 Pin Molex to 6 Pin to power Gpu) Case: Enermax Thorex

Soooooooooo, I noticed online a deal on a HD 7850 2GBx2 falling into my budget line and I wanted to know if it's worth while? It will be used to play MC, CS:GO, BF4/Hardline, TF2, Gmod, Skyrim and maybe GTAV. I would also be trying out other games aswell. It would be on a current resolution of 1440x900 monitor and I would potential be getting a second 1080p monitor aswell. I also noticed deals on for 280xs and GTX 670s putting them at around the same price and depending wether I get the HD 7850 or not, which would better? Thanks

I have a friend that is giving me his old 7850. I know some amd cards can crossfire with their older counterparts. so i am wondering if i can crossfire the 7850 with my 270x. Thanks.

Both the 7870 and 7950 are HIS's brand with one fan...so might not be that quiet, and might run hot....but their prices are too low! There is no beating the 7870 Ghz edition in its price range! If you opt for the larger $129 7950, you might want to consider a gtx 670....but good luck finding a new one ;p

Hey guys! Was wondering if I could ask you peeps if this overclock is actually worth the additional Voltage increase. So, a few days ago, I wanted to see just what my Gigabyte Radeon HD 7850 2GB could do. I've searched up results on the 7850 overclocking and it seemed like people had all sorts of results, from getting a very mild overclock(950mhz) to full on beast mode overclocks (1300mhz+). Deciding I am still up for it, I downloaded afterburner, unlocked the voltage, core and memory sliders after a reboot. The results are following The first overclock that I deemed worth from the original 975/1200 at 1.139mV factory OC was 1075/1230 1.180mV which I thought was a decent boost in of a 100mhz on core. Everything was stable after a few runs of Heaven, Valley and 3D mark 11 in succession. Then, I decided to see if I can push for that 1100mhz mark and while I was successful at around 1.208-1.212 more or less, I felt like the voltage increase was way too much for the 25 extra mhz. So there's my first question, is it worth to bump up to that voltage to break the 1100 mhz barrier, or should I leave it where it is? (ASIC Quality is 78.5%) After that was done, I went on to see what sort of a performance gain I got out of my decent overclock. My 1075/1230 in 3DMark 11 scored 7358 on performance settings, well above a GTX 580 who was around 6600-6800 from the charts I've seen. Since I was satisfied with the core overclock, I went on the memory. From there, I went from the 1230 to 1450 which was where the original barrier was and didn't really want to push it any further while still getting 101 points more in 3D mark out of it, totaling it at around 7459 So, I was finally at 1075/1450 on 1.180mV, everything looking as stable as it could. The temperature did get up to the 72-73 range, but leaving the card to do the temperature management managed to keep it under 70 most of the time. (I could easily slide the slider up to 60% and keep it fairly cool at the expense of noise since it is a Windforce card) To add to that, I decided to throw in a custom 30-sec benchmark in Crysis 3 between 975/1200 and 1075/1450 (I can't underclock the card to reference 7850 as the card defaults to 975 every time I try.) The resolution I am running at is 1440x900 with all of the details set to High, Textures on Very High, No v-sync, x16 Anisotropic filtering and FXAA (Solar Flare is on too, or whatever is that last option in the advanced menu called.) No OC: Max: 87 Min: 34 Average: 58 With OC Max: 96 Min: 40 Average: 66 So my question is, is this overclock and the performance it gives worth the extra bump in voltage and power limit? (The Max Temperature in the picture was because of Kombustor. The card never got that toasty while gaming.)

Here is my current (and old) rig: CPU: AMD Phenom 9550 RAM: 4GB MOBO: mATX Generic HP (Has only PCIe 1.0x16 ) GPU: 8800 GTS PSU: Corsair CX430w I was wondering if I would be able to throw in a AMD Radeon 7850 and not have any bottleneck on the GPU? If there would be a large bottleneck, what would be a good GPU to get? The reason I ask about a 7850 is because they can be found for a decent price and have a decent amount of performance that I dont believe would be bottlenecked by the CPU. I saw the scrapyard build that Linus and Luke recently did and Linus used a 7850 with a Q6600 which my resaerch says isnt much different from the Phenom 9550. Thanks in advance!

I am trying to set up 3 monitors on my XFX Radeon 1GB 7850. The card has 2xmDP, 1xHDMI, 2xDVi. I am using 3 HDMI monitors that all have HDMI inputs and I am using the HDMI and the 2xmDP outputs off of the card with mDP to HDMI cords. I am unable to get the third monitor enabled. My PC recognizes it but, it can't be enabled. I've read on a few other sites that I need an Active mDP adapter but, this was always when people were running HDMI, DVI. I want to make sure this is what I need if I'm trying to run HDMI/2xmDP setup. Link to my card (Newegg): http://goo.gl/TmwdHV

Issue i am having is rather odd. I am getting lower frame rates with a better card. I am running a Gigabyte Windforce 290 and I am averaging 47 FPS or so with WoW and 24 FPS with Neverwinter in stationary position in towns and different zones in both games. When i put my 7850 back in to find out what frame rates I am getting i average above 80 FPS on highest settings in WOW and poor in Neverwinter. I know my system is CPU limited in Neverwinter but i kinda figured with WOW a Phenom II 955 with 8 GB of ram would not be. My specs are below. I have done the usual of removing all AMD software and re-installing drivers and trying different versions of catalyst suite. No improvements. Can anyone guess what i might be doing wrong? I went from a 150 dollar card to a 300 dollar card and had my performance drop by half. Kind of really annoyed. My in game settings are maxed in WoW with both cards and i have no clue what I am doing wrong. Oh I tried disabling everything running that did not need to be too. Ok first of all my setup. AMD Phenom II 955 running on Asus m5a97 r-2. I have 8GB DDR3 ram at 1300MHz. Using Samsung 840 EVO 120 GB SSD for primary OS. Using 2TB WD Green for Games. Video card is Gigabyte Windforce 290 4GB. Running windows 8.1 with latest updates.

I built this rig in late December but am just now getting around to uploading the pics of it. I didn't get my graphics card until about 3 weeks after I built the machine, and sadly I didn't have a long enough 8 pin CPU cord (Please Recommend a Good Extender!) The specs are: Graphics Card: MSI Twin Frozr 7850 OC CPU: Intel 3570k Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V LE Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 RAM: 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance Power Supply: 600W OCZ Modxstream HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB (I added a DVD drive from an old system later on.) If anyone has suggestions for a CPU cooler that could fit with the VERY minimal space between the CPU and RAM, I'm looking to overclock sometime in the future. Also, if anyone knows a fairly cheap and easy way to repaint a case that's something I'm interested in as well, because I feel like the HAF 912 is a good case for that type of project. Thanks for reading and feedback is appreciated! HAF 912 Before I Added The 7850 (Suggestions for CPU Cooler in that Space?) My Final Build! Hello there, I'm a long time lurker but first time poster, just made an account after being inspired by the recent Livestream and the builds of the week. I'm a relative novice to the modding scene but I have had 2 previous cases (NZXT Phantom and Lanboy Air) which ive done minor mods to. Now then, I've just bought a Corsair 300R as a sort of project case to mod and play around with while getting used to new ideas. I'll be slowly updating but for now i've installed a luminous red tinted top window in the case. I've also replaced the stock fans with Red 120mm Coolmaster Sickflow fans. I'm going for a Red Black and possibly White, although i will decide on that soon, Colour scheme. If the case turns out well and people like it, i'll more than likely transfer my build over despite the 300R being considered an entry level case. Here's the Picture of the case in its current state. http://i.imgur.com/xTBa6yH.jpg It still needs a bit of touching up, its not secure yet and needs some edges touching up jagged edges filing etc. In case anyone is interested these are my previous modded cases, nothing flash but meh. Phantom http://i.imgur.com/jqHMpQI.jpg Lanboy Air http://i.imgur.com/5CWPZJG.jpg Oh and apologies for the mess of wires etc! Let me know what you think and recommend some suggestions if you can, any feedback is good feedback. thanks

Hi everyone. I need your honest opinion about which gpu to choose from. I decided not to use gpuboss as they are extremely bias and I've looked around the internet for a while, but there is nothing but fanboys crying over which is better. I am planning to buy two of the chosen gpu that you will recommend. Both have nearly the exact same price of £133.80 so they are pretty much in the same price point. I will be mildly overclocking them so some extent but still in a range where they won't be draining too much electricity. Please consider energy efficiency equally as much as performance as I live in a dorm and efficiency plays its part. That's pretty much it. I'm all ears :D http://www.waeplus.co.uk/item/301194/EVGA2GB-D5-X-GTX650-Ti-BOOST-SC--------R http://www.waeplus.co.uk/item/239805/Radeon-HD-7850-OC---2-GB-GDDR5---PCI-Exp
