Hi there! So kinda a noob question I guess? I recently received a present from a close friend of mine, as it was my birthday recently. He heard I'm building a new system and dumped a Intel 660p 512gb on me. Now I already got a SX8200 pro 1TB for my games and I'm not sure what to use this one for? I realised I might be able to save some money if I used that as my boot drive instead of investing in a 500gb MX500. However I've been looking online for advice and it seems a lot of people find this to be a bad M.2 nvme ssd? So I want to ask you guys, does anyone know how well it will work as a boot drive? I read that it gets slow if used too long. If you fill it up too much. However I'm just planning on using it for my OS (Windows 10 pro) and my browser (Firefox) I have the 1TB m.2 from Adata as mentioned before and a 2TB Samsung 860 Evo. And potentially a old 2TB 7200rpm HDD from Seagate I'll be pulling from my old system. So this will be JUST a boot drive. What is your opinion? 660P 512gb or just buy a mx500 250gb or Samsung 860 Evo 250gb and use this m.2 for something else? Thanks a lot in advance~

Hello everyone! I'm having a small issue with a Gainward GTX 660. I bought from a person on prohardver.hu here in Hungary. The seller said that the GPU is not working, windows xp to 10's message:" Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems.". The seller says that "It works under Linux" and it sure did! So I guess the GPU is not deffective And it works flawlessly! But I wanna play my games on Windows rather than Linux :') I already did a DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller), reinstalled the drivers a couple times. Even did some reflowing with a help of some flux and a hot air gun (I knew what I was doing ) and it did not fixed the problem I think it is not a hardware problem, I'm guessing it is the problem with the GPU's BIOS. I wrote on the prohardver forum in order to get some help, but sadly every tech person is offline and I realy wanna know if this thing works or not :)) So what do you guys think? Should I try to update the BIOS? If so, then where can I find proper "tutorial" about the subject? Thank you for the replies :R - SPECS - Mobo : AsRock Extreme 3 (770 chipset) CPU: Athlon x3 445 GPU: Gainward GTX 660 2Gb Ram: 2x2Gb DDR3 and 2x1Gb DDR3 @1333Ghz Soundcard: SB0090 PSU: Nexus 5080 Semi-modular Storage is 2 HDD, 250Gb and 400Gb Well cooled parts

I have an Asus 660 ti directcu II 2gb, and am wondering if it can run in SLI with an MSI GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB Power Edition. I don't know much about SLI, but if you guys could let me know if this would work; I have a Z270E. I'd be running 660 Ti in SLI until I get my 1080 Ti FTW. :} Thanks.

So I have just traded my younger sibling a EVGA GTX 960 3GB for his reference GTX 660 1.5GB, The reason for this trade is his system was a prebuilt from his father that had recently passed away and it was equipped with the aforementioned 660, an I7 4790 non-k skew, 8gb of ram, ect. I decided to trade him so he would have a more balanced system with better FPS for any newer games he may decide to play. My original plan for the 960 was to build an HTPC with it but felt rather bad about using a gpu with such horsepower for simple video streaming/decoding pc for netflix and youtube. But my general question I guess now would be, would the 660 be a good match up for this task since it is an older GPU? I figure even with having a dedicated GPU within the HTPC we could still use it for mild games on the living room TV such as Minecraft and single player games.

Hi, I was trying to install shadowplay but I'm getting same error everytime. The only thing I want is recording without fps drops. I saw many people doing this on 660, but it doesn't work for me. On screen it says " The program's work was unsuccessful" (google translator translating) i5-2400 6Gb Ram Palit 660 @ 355.98 driver (335.60 required according to official NVIDIA requirements) win 7 64 bit ultimate version

GPU stopped working after sudden shutdown while gaming...
Sahil0668 posted a topic in Graphics Cards
Hi, I was playing PUBG on my rig then suddenly my everything went black, when i tried restarting my pc, it was not turning on. I opened the case and saw that GPU fans are not spinning. Then I switched to internal graphics then it worked fine.. What could be the problem with my GPU... Things I Have Tried: 1. Tried re-inserting the gpu on mb 2. Updateing MB's bios 3. Flashing GPU BIOS using nvflash (both from DOS and Windows) but showing No Nvidia Display Adapters Found. My Specs. My experience with used graphics card has not been very good to say the least since the r9 280 i bought for around 150$ last year broke down in a month so i need some advice as to buy my new graphics card. My friend is selling his PNY GTX 660 2gb which i can get from him for around 80$. My second option would be to get an Asus GTX 760 2gb from an online retailer for around 110$ which would be less reliable than that above. Or i could get a new box packed GTX 1050 but since any deal here starts at about 175$, it's not at all an option for me. The last option for me, which I've been considering recently, would be an rx 550 2gb which i can get new box packed for around 105$. My budget is at max 115$ and i cannot exceed it. What would be the wisest option to go with considering i only want to do 1080p @60fpsfps gaming.

Hi guys! Merry Christmas!!! So I currently have a GTX 660 OEM 1.5GB and seriously need an upgrade... I've been sitting on this for a while now, my budget at max is 210USD and I'd rather not hear "just save a bit more and get X, Y or Z" as I am a part time waiter now and live in a part of Spain where money is very hard to come by. I was toying with a second hand GTX 970 from es.webuy.com but they sold out CPU: AMD FX 8120 -Jack

I'm thinking this is just a defective fan, but aren't quite sure and therefore just have to ask if it's maybe just normal... (: I'm running 2-Way SLI with MSI GeForce GTX 660 TF III cards, where I just noticed that one of the fans on my second card doesn't run... I tried to use MSI Afterburner to set the fan speed to 100%, where it then started spinning after a couple of seconds... But when I manually sets the fan speed below around 85% it then stops spinning again. And it doesn't matter if they are synchronised or not. Temperatures are around 44/36 (GPU1/GPU2) celsius on normal webbrowsing use ("idle")

Hi guys! First of all, I hope this is the right place to put my topic... (It sounded like the "Graphics Cards" in the Hardware forum were for more detailed hardware questions...) But here we go... I'm thinking about upgrading my, really disappointing, 2-Way SLI MSI GTX 660 TF III cards to one MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X... Which would be a huuuge and noticeable upgrade! But can't quite figure out if 1080 Ti would be worth the extra costs or a "total overkill" ? So the regular 1080 came to my mind and also did the smaller 1070/1070 Ti... To be honest... I actually don't game anymore... It does happen thought, and are games like GTA V, Watch Dogs 1 & 2, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, Call of Duty, Mafia III, BF3 & 4 and a bunch of other smaller games... I usually only use my workstation for webbrowsing and managing my servers... (Sometimes some Photoshop and Lightroom) ... BUT! - Please don't make your decision on the missing gaming part. I just want to know if I, in real life (not just hardware specs), actually get more value from the extra costs on a 1080 Ti versus the smaller cards. I hope that you guys are willing to help me out here, so thanks in advance!! The prices here in Denmark, as I write this topic: - 1080Ti: $990 USD - 1080: $733 USD - 1070Ti: $663 USD - 1070: $631 USD (All MSI GeForce GTX Gaming X!) Full PC specifications are available under my profile, but the most important are as followed: CPU: Intel i7-4770K (Cooling: Corsair H80i v2) Motherboard: MSI Z87-G43 GAMING Storage: Soon 2x MZ-75E500B in RAID0 RAM: 16GB 2133MHz PSU: Cooler Master GX750W (Should have the required cables for a 1080Ti) ... Bare with me.. It's 4 years old...

Hi everyone. I've been considering upgrading to a new gpu on my system. I currently have a gtx 660sc from EVGA, and I am considering purchasing an Asus gtx 950 Strix for an upgrade. Would this his card even be much better than the one I have now? I've been looking at scores on different benchmarking systems and they look pretty much the same for both cards. Thanks!

hi ive been dazzled of this occt stress results. can someone explain or tell me how to improve the performance ?? not sure if it is software or hardware issue. i get fps drop. as soon as the cpu usage increases the fps drop. is there a bottle neck ? is it voltage problem ? what is it ? any ideas ? the fps drop happens in csgo too not just occt. also i can provide you my mates test and his result is fine with stable fps and cpu usage just temps heat up but not harsh fps drop like mine. please help thanks 20-56.rar

so yeah either go with another 660 and sli it for 80 bucks with a bridge or single 960 instead what will benefit me more? no I don't need you to say oh get the 1070 or 980 ti or some crap like that. I do have a 980 and 1070. I'm building more of a mmo/ fps build for moderate steam games in a micro LAN build to travel with. but I would like to hear about your opinion on my options stated above. my 660 powers through very well paired up with the i5-4570 cpu, but could I push better performance out of a dedicated PhysX or SLI build, or just a solid 960 SC card?

Hi i was hoping if some one could tell me if my PNY GTX 660 should be running at 84 degrees Celsius on full load at 99% according to Riva tuner and 47c on idle is this normal? I just cleaned out all the the dust and added some new thermal grease to it the thermal greases name is Thermaltake TG-7 Extreme Performance which is a diamond compound. I also turned on MSI afterburners auto fan curve so my fans are at 74% when my card is at full load and my temps are still the same...

Hi, So my friend has an issue with his Asus GTX 660. For some reason after drivers are installed, the card does one of two things. Image freezes (computer crashes as well) Does what it shows in the image attached (crashes as well). It only does this after a few mins of the computer being turned on. I have also tried this on my PC as well with the same outcome. My thought is that it looks similar to when the Xbox 360's GPU was melting away. Any ideas? Thanks

Hello and thank you for taking your time to look at this.I noticed an issue a few weeks back when I was trying to play The Culling where I got 62 fps (because it was frame locked), and the next day got about 20 on The Culling and Payday 2 (which I was also previously able to run at 60fps). I was playing at the lowest settings and nothing had changed in between those days except I updated the graphics driver (to the newest one recommended by GeForce experience). After I did some research, I preformed a clean install of that same graphics driver and I was back to getting 60fps. The next day, I had to do a system restore which would reload the boot disk without deleting any of my personal files because I deleted some environment variables by accident and I had to re install the driver. Now it is the next day and the game is back down to 20 fps and I will have to preform another clean install of the graphics driver. Does anyone know why this is happening or how I can fix it?SPECS:Intel i5 2320 3GHz8GB DDR3 RAMWindows 10 Pro 64 BitNvidia GeForce GTX 660 2GB

Hey guys, I built my PC in June 2014 on a $1200 budget. I was a noob at PC hardware then and just getting into LTT. My specs are in my signature if you want to look Anyways, my question: Is the GTX 660 outdated at this point? It does what I need, but if not now, when should I update my graphics card. Also, My friend mentioned that a GTX 980 might not actually fit into my case... Lol it makes me worried that I might not be able to actually upgrade anytime soon. Thoughts?

Right now I got a HD6950 2GB and I can get a used GTX660 2GB from a friend, would it be better then the HD6950 (The 660 would be better for video rendering right?)

So the past couple of days I have been upgrading my system and I have decided to put back in my GTX 660 to run a secondary monitor and help render scenes w/ my 970. The issue is, ASUS Gpu Tweak will not allow me to OC my 970 without it trying to overclock my 660 with the same settings. Is there anyway to separate my cards OC?

I've had my computer for a few years now and when I first built it I wasn't that computer-savvy, you could say. I had some terrible ATI graphics card that was laying around that didn't need and PCI-E pin power connectors and a FX-4100. Around a year after building it I upgraded to a EVGA GTX 660 Ti SC 3GB. I saw a massive improvement in performance in BF4, which was the game I used to play a lot and still do a bit. Recently, while I have been playing BF: Hardline I have been getting quite varying framerates, sometime it can be in the high 80s and can dip to the 30s (this is on low). I opened up afterburner and noticed my CPU was hovering around 90-100% while my GPU usage was only 60%. I'm pretty sure this is evidence of bottlenecking but I just wanted to check with this great community first before either getting a GTX 970 or a new motherboard and a I7-4790k. Any help would be appreciated.

I currently run a GTX660 FTW ACX and its fine, no issues whatsoever. Plays all my games at 1080p on high or max depending on what game. I saw the 960 had been released and it looks like a good price. But i was wondering if there was any point in me upgrading. Im going to be playing GTA V on this PC and its recommended is the GTX660. Is this going to be an issue or is their "recommended" gpu one that can run the game on max settings. Thanks, Arron
