I am running a PC with Ryzen5 3600, G.Skill Trident Z Royal 3600MHz 2x8 on a msi B450 Tomahawk Max. From the start, even after enabling XMP the RAM speed was capped at 2133 MHz. I had to manually set the speed at 3600 from bios. Just recently I bought a set of 3 case fans (1stplayer firebase G3). It is powered directly by the PSU via molex. The problem is after installing the fans when I powered on the pc it powered on and off a few times and then showed a warning saying "Memory overclocking unsuccessfully" and sets the RAM speed back to 2133. For PSU I am using the Cooler Master MWE Gold 650W so I don't think it's a power issue. can anyone help

Budget (including currency): ... Country: Nepal Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Power Supply Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): So I am planning to do my first build with a Ryzen 5 3600 and a 2060(gigabyte maybe) and was looking for suggestion on which power supply to use. Also, will it be ok if i use a 650W psu for this build or should i get a 750W or something else? Some of the PSUs that i have thought using are: i) Gigabyte P650b( 650W) -> 80+ Bronze (Probably not gonna use this after the Gamers Nexus review on the 750W) -> Rs14,500($122.19 USD) ii) Thermaltake Smart BM2 750W -> 80+ Bronze -> Rs12,500($105.34 USD) iii) 1STPLAYER SteamPunk 650W -> 80+ Gold -> Rs14,800($124.72 USD) iv) CORSAIR CX650 650W -> 80+ Bronze -> Rs13,500($113.77 USD) v) CORSAIR CX750 750W -> 80+ Bronze -> Rs16,200($136.52 USD) Please suggest what should i do and which onw to choose?

I don't have any other good choices, the 750w versions are beyond my reach, so are the next step up in either brands companies lineup, Although I'm willing to save up a bit more if it's a huge step up in safety, or a decent step up in efficiency. Mostly gaming, maybe some nightly mining. 3060ti (200tdp) and intel 95 watt chip of some kind. Also I might mine on the 3060ti at 125watts or so. Thanks for reading

I'm in the UK if it helps, need a new PSU for an incoming 3060ti, think 650w should do it, but I could be wrong so please correct me! Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone, I'm working on a new build but I've reached a roadblock in deciding on which PSU is most suitable for it. The components I've decided on so far being CPU: Intel Core i5-12400F Motherboard: MSI B660M Mortar DDR4 RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro SL 2x8GB 3600Mhz GPU: GTX 1660 Super (to be carried over from current PC) My PSU choices are split between Cooler Master G700 Gold, MWE Bronze V2 230V 700W, Seasonic Core GX-650, SF Legion HX Gold 650W I'm aware the wattage is more than enough for my 1660S but I'd like to keep the PSU for the long term when I plan to upgrade a few years down the road. I have my eyes on the 3060/3060Ti but unfortunately I don't see that happening so soon. So with that upgrade goal in mind, which PSU between the four would you guys think would be the best choice? Thanks in advance.

Hello! So i'm upgradeing from an rx 570 to a 6750xt or 3070 video card, and i'm wondering, my silentiumpc gold 650w psu is going to be enough for it? I searched up thousands of websites, to try to find a good decison but what i found is 50-50. My specs: -b550 tomahawk -r5 3600 boosted to 4200mhz -2x8gb 3200mhz ballistix ram -i have like 6 fan in the pc including the cpu fan -obviously the 650w gold silentiumpc psu -1x nvme 2.0 ssd -1x 7200rpm hdd Im really into competitive games, and im playing them too. Therefore i like to change things in windows, and in my pc, which maybe can cause more power. Only overclocked the cpu, i dont want to oc the new gpu, or anything else! Using an 1920x1080p monitor with 165hz, maybe in the future i can upgrade for a better resolution (sorry for my english, its not the best ._.)

Ok so i currently have a GTX 970 which i’ve had for the last 4-5 years and i’m planning on getting an RTX 2060 super or 2070 super, not quite sure yet. With that i got a Corsair CX600 psu at the same time and i was wondering if i should upgrade my psu aswell since i’m getting a new gpu?

Hi everyone! First of all thanks for letting me join the group.. I have a bit of a dilemma.. I had a i7 3770 with a GTX 1070 and a CX650M PSU. Really worked well but I had to upgrade the processor as it was struggling a little, I went with a MSI B450 tomahawk max and new 3200mhz Corsair lpx ram (16gb) and a R5 2600x. I know the cpu maybe a little weak but at least I can upgrade it in the future when I can afford to. I sold my old pc bits and bought a Rx 5700 xt as it sounded like a good idea at the time and had nothing but issues. Black screen and red light on my motherboard so I send it back. In the meantime I sold my old GTX 1070 (MSI armour) I am awaiting my refund and decided I want to go back to Nvidia but I'm torn between buying the RTX 2070 super or the extra for the 2080 super. I always like playing on 1440p on the highest settings I can, my 1070 did do very well I have a 75hz monitor and for the most part I was getting above 60fps when the Rx 5700 xt worked I was very happy with it's performance. I am a little worried about my PSU tho.. I know the recommended is 650w for the 2080s and that's what I have but I don't know what's best to buy as I really can't afford a 2080s and a new PSU so do I.. Buy the 2080s and 650w will be fine or do I go with the 2070s and I'm prety sure my PSU is ok? I'm trying to get the maximum time out of my pc as it's took a lot to be able to upgrade it so don't think I'll be upgrading for a long while, maybe a better CPU in the future when the current 3000 series comes down in price a bit. Thanks for any advice I really appreciate it. I've watched several yt videos on the cards and apparently the 2080s is only about 10% faster but I'm guessing that it will be more future proof

So I dont really play enough games to justify spending very much on a new gpu, however used 780ti's are getting very cheap because they are pretty slow these days. Since my card has a waterblock on it, and I dont have the stock cooler, I woudnt really be able to sell it, so getting a 2nd card seems like the simplest option. Only problem is that I only have a rm650x. While it is gold rated, and pretty good from what I've read here, would it be able to handle 2 fairly high power draw cards? My cpu is overclocked but voltages are stock so power draw is likely not much more than normal.

Hi, I would like to know what PSU is the best to buy. I'm thinking about the XFX Pro Series 650W Core Edition or the Seasonic S12II 520W or M12II 520W Evo. Which one would you guys recommend? Or do you have anything other in mind?

So this is not an entirely new build, a few of the parts listed I scrapped from my previous PC. I've read the sticky, but i just thought i'd make a post anyway; ease of mind and all that. PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($328.99 @ SuperBiiz) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S 55.0 CFM CPU Cooler ($58.99 @ NCIX US) Motherboard: Asus SABERTOOTH Z170 MARK 1 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($239.99 @ SuperBiiz) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($88.99 @ NCIX US) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($139.89 @ OutletPC) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($71.00 @ Amazon) Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 980 4GB STRIX Video Card ($504.99 @ SuperBiiz) Case: NZXT S340 Elite (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($89.99 @ SuperBiiz) Power Supply: Super Flower Leadex Gold 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply Total: $1522.83 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2016-11-03 05:16 EDT-0400 So i went with 650W, which from the sticky says is more than enough. So is it? I'm planning on heavily overclocking my rig as evidenced by MOBO choice, with the possibility of adding a full custom loop with an SLI setup in the very near future (2 1080s, if I can scrap the cash). Also I know that futureproofing is a myth, but at least with the power supply and motherboard I would very much like for both components to last at least 2 build iterations. So is Superflower known for its longevity? or should i just go with a more mainstream PSU like a Corsair RM650x? the price is higher but honestly if it'll give me an additional 1-2 over the Superflower it's a sound investment. Honestly I just went with the Superflower because the connectors light up and it looks cool, but with the s340 elite I guess it won't matter since there's a basement for the PSU anyway. So yeah, any input or suggestions for other PSUs are very much welcome!

Hi everyone, hope you are all well. Having a bit of trouble with my PC. Here is the setup: Plug in the wall socket --> leads to a 6-way surge protected extension block from Maplin --> plugged into this extension block is 2 things, my monitor and PC. The last couple of weeks when switching the plug (for the extension block) on at the wall there has been a loud popping noise and a bright white light (I believe an arc). But the PC has switched on fine afterwards (as does the monitor) and everything works fine. But last night I switched the extension block on at the wall and there was a loud pop/bang noise and a very big arc that appeared to come out the wall socket. It was only there for a split millisecond. Was quite scary actually. Pulled my hand immediately back. This caused all the sockets in my university room to trip. So I had to go to the fusebox in the kitchen and trip my rooms switch back up. That fixed the circuit problem - all the sockets in my room now work again (for desk lamp, charging phone, charing laptop etc.) However, when I now press the power button on my PC, it does not power on. I have had the electrician / maintenance guy out and he says the wall sockets are all fine, nothing wrong with them - all earthed correctly etc. I have ordered a new Belkin surge protector from Amazon, that is coming soon. I took the fuse out of the PC's Power kettle lead. It didn't look blown, but have replaced it with a new fuse anyway. I have bypassed the extension block (in case this was the problem), and temporarily plugged PC power lead straight into the wall. When I try and power on the PC it makes the tiniest little noise for a split second, it's just like a sizzle of electricity, hard to explain, but it's miniscule. But yeah, my PC now no longer turns on. Could the fuse in the power supply have gone? My PSU is a 650w Corsair RMx series. I have emailed Corsair, but all they said was can you upload your original receipt. So I have done that, am now awaiting a reply from them. Any help would be hugely appreciated. I really need my PC for university and photography work, but obviously cannot currently use it as it won't power on at all. Thanks, Oli.

Hello there, I am not 100% sure whether a 650W PSU will be enough for this system as it's a rather weird combination. I need to pick a new PSU for my friend's rig, relevant specs: i7-870 which I intend to overclock as far as I can to keep up with the new GPU (old AF but also power-hungry, according to this test http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/p55-motherboard-overclock,2460-7.html ) Sapphire RX 580 8GB Nitro+ 8GB of DDR3-1333 RAM 2TB HDD, 120GB SSD 5 case fans total My friend is budget-limited and the only decent units he can get are maximum 650W (XFX Pro XXX 650W, EVGA GQ 650W, XFX Core 650W non-modular, Be Quiet! PowerZone 650W) Will that wattage suffice? From what I've seen, that CPU is a power-hog once it's OC'd and the high-clocked RX 580 8GB variant isn't too good in that regard either... And I need to OC the CPU because at its low stock clock speeds it won't be able to keep up with the RX 580, even at 2560x1080. It definitely is enough at stock speeds, it's overclocking that gets me a little worried. I might be tempted to OC the GPU too. Thoughts?

Hey All, just wondering if the EVGA SuperNOVA 650w G2 PSU would be enough to power my planned build. (also please point out any issues with my planned build in general) Ryzen 5 1600/1600x EVGA Superclocked GTX 1070 ASUS ROG Strix Mobo 2x 1tb HDD 1x 120GB SSD 1x Optical Drive 6x 140mm Case Fans (Headroom For Potential Overclocking) Thanks For Any Advice

A friend of mine as found an msi gtx 760 2GB selling for around 80€ and since I have already an asus gtx 760 2GB I don't know if my power supply is enough to running both in SLI I have an EVGA 650W G1,probably it's too low (already done some researches,I'm just asking here for peace of mind) Thanks in advice ~

Hi! I want to do a custom loop with my i5 2500k@5ghz 1.4v and r9 290@1200/1500mhz 1.1v. I calculated with outervision everything (even the pump) with cpu at 100% tdp and it said 650W and recommends 700W. I fonun a really good deal on Super Flower Leadex 650W Silver. It's a very good power supply, it has been reviewed by some guys who writes trusted reviews since 2005 and it has been bought more than 100 times from a site in my country. EVGA uses Super Flower in their b3 series, so another sign to trust Super Flower. Does it have enough watts?

I am planning to build a gaming PC with configuration i5 8600k, GTX 1080, and RGB lighting with 5 fans, 2tb Seagate barracuda, 250gb Samsung Evo SSD, Asus Rog strix z370E, 2*8gb corsair RGB ram, cooler master hyper Evo 612 or 212. What may be the power consumption of my pc. I think it may consume power around 500W. And do I need to buy a better SMPS with rating 650/750w if I want to upgrade in the future. In my country only corsair, cooler master and a local company called circle SMPS are available. Which is the best SMPS I should buy for 80$-100$.
