A problem has been bothering me for a year and a half or so. After looking into it on and off for that much time, I turn to the ever wise forums for help again The video on my TV will occasionally quickly fade to black for no obvious reason. I got the TV brand new as a raffle prize at my job, it's an RCA RHOS651SM (65 inch 4K SmarTV). Kind of a crap box, but I effectively paid $8 for 65inch 4k so I can't complain. In all my troobleshooting here's what I've discovered: - The audio does not cut out - The usual "no input" card does not come up, like when the tv is on but the device is off (indicating a black signal being displayed, rather than there being no signal) - The problem is consistent on multiple HDMI inputs and multiple cables. - This behavior is often replicable, with certain screens or games consistently triggering it (i.e. Disney+ on PS4, or the home edit screen in Animal Crossing on Switch, or any part of Donut County on PS4, and one specific location I've found so far in Kentucky Route Zero on PS4). - As a quick fix whenever it happens, I toggle the "HDMI EDID" setting on the TV between "1.4" and "2.0" (none of my devices output at 4k so no real difference for me). This fixes the picture until triggered again. - This behavior has never occurred in the built in Netflix or Youtube apps, even when streaming & displaying 4k content. I have two resonable guesses, but I've mostly explained those away: 1. Because it's a cheap TV, the device and TV aren't 'handshaking' correctly, and "refreshing" the HDMI version picks it back up. I don't know too much about that proccess but I have to guess if that's the problem then there would be no signal to begin with. 2. The display controller is cheap and overheating and activating some kind of failsafe. But it's only processing 1080p signals coming from external devices. And if it's advertised/designed to display 4k then I really doubt that's the issue (not to mention Netflix and Youtube displaying mostly fine (sometimes Youtube will stutter when streaming 4k, but I'd bet that's the onboard CPU being too slow to decode that stream)). I've been observing this behavior for a long time and I am completely out of ideas. so as always, any input is greatly appreciated!

Yesterday I got a new tv and it has these black spots in the middle of the tv mostly. There's a lot of them. Could these be dead pixels?

do i really need to buy 4k tv to enjoy new changes by ps4 pro or a full hd tv would provide same output with ps4 pro??

So I'm looking at getting a new TV for my houses living room, and I was looking at the vizio Quantum TVs......Mainly the M series and P series.....now here is my main question.....I figured the 55 in is the best size for both 4k and my living room. Now I'm looking at the M Series 55 in and the P series 55 in The price difference from what I could tell was mainly in their refresh rates. The M series has a standard 60hz refresh rate with their automotion 120 or whatever they call it. The P series has a natural 120hz refresh and a automtion 720 still dont understand the point of those things. My main question is which is better do you think? saving the 150 to get a 4k 60hz or spend the extra money on a 4k 120?

Hi there! First post here so be gentle! I am trying to run programs like Photoshop on my 4k TV however there is a noticeable lag time between my mouse input and response on the TV. I know I might be limited by the TV itself (maybe 30Hz?) but I was wondering if I could maybe improve the response times to a less noticeable degree by using a Thunderbolt 3 to HDMI cord. Would that change anything about how quickly my inputs are shown on TV? Currently connected to the TV with a regular HDMI cord, probably a cheapo from an old Verizon cable box. My XPS 15 9570 has a Thunderbolt 3 port (4 lane PCIe) and 1050 Ti TV is a few years old Vizio but displays 4k nicely, albeit slowly. Any tips?

Budget: 4.5k USD -10k USD Location: TX, USA. Aim: super desk! Giant viewing/multitasking display setup. Being able to casually, and rarely game in 4k w/ surround at proper FPS is wanted but not needed. PC gaming is secondary to just make it all work. Would like to build one 3-4 screen setup first, and then another one later this year, if someone has a way to make all eleven fit that be cool too. Monitors: I have 11 4k TVs 55”-65”, and am eyeballing that new 49” UW display. Six of which are all Samsung Qled Peripherals: I have all that I need. WHY?: I remember wanting a setup like this after having seen the movie “Blank Check”. I must have been 8 or 9. Childhood dream, trying to make it happen. Not an upgrade, just a build. I am a display fiend. A screen junky with a serious pixel addiction. For the last 2 years I have been living (simultaneously) in 5 rented spaces strewn about my city. My lifestyle has changed and I am now a homeowner. So I have slowly been closing leases and making moves. I had roughly 2-4 55inch to 65inch 4k QLED/UHD televisions at each living/working space. Now, after having spent the better part of the month moving and packing up, I am currently sat alone in my now mostly empty 780ft studio apartment, kept company by the ELEVEN 4k televisions that now live here, and sit unused, just chilling. This lease won't end for another year, and is paid in full. So, I have nothing but time and want to use some of these Displays to make a crazy set up. I know specificity is important here, and ill revise when I can find everything, but I simply do not have all the details on me currently. So to give a short list w/out full model numbers and specs the TVs I currently have w/ me are as follows: -2 Vizio D Series (dumb TVs) @55inch. -1 Vizio D series (smart cast) @55inch. -2 LG sj9500 @65inch -6 Samsung QN55Q6F 4k ultra @55inch. Ideally, I am looking to make either a 6 display setup, with the Samsung Qleds. Anything I make will primarily be used as a workstation/ trade desk/ and for entertainment (browse, movies, console game) Although secondary to my needs and wants Gaming (w/ surround in 1080p-4k) is a feature I would very much like to have. Space is small, so I am more fond of the idea of having 2 setups w/ 3 of the Qleds, and a pair of ultra wides below. I currently only have a handful of 1070s in an old mining rig, which I think will not be of any use to me in this endeavor. I know that I will need ALL of the VRAM, and a CPU that won’t bottleneck, some serious RAM as well. With CES coming up, Nvidia pulling a Nvidia and robbing us of the beloved GTX1080ti stock… I am at a loss. Don’t Know much about RTX… I just all of sudden have all these screens, free time, and cash. If anyone Has any suggestions as to which GPU(s), CPU(s), mobo, etc I should consider to power and run the pixels of three to four 55inch 4k Qled TVs, in surround, and possibly an ultra wide as well, id love to hear any input. with boxes full of peripherals, and home theatre supplies I literally have everything that I need…exception being THE COMPUTER to power it all. I have no idea what to build… but am I crazy to think that I can make it happen for under $ 5.5k?

So, I found some posts here, here and here about 4K in general and what the difference is going from 1080 and so on. But my question might be of a slightly more nerdy nature. Specifically I was hoping someone could shed some light on the upscaling algorithms used in 4K TV's. In the previous posts I have seen some people claiming that each cluster of 4 pixels (each 2x2 pixel) would display the same RGB value as one pixel on an 1080 monitor (since the the screen has exactly 4 times the amount of pixels as on a 1080 screen). And yes, I figure this would be easy to do for the manufacturer, but I wouldn't really call that up scaling since it is directly displaying the 1080p image. So, I would guess the true upscaling would include some sort of Anti Aliasing technique or maybe some other clever contrast detection algorithm or something. My point is, I don't know the specifics, but I would like to learn. Sidenote: Going to the store and looking at 4k TV's displaying 1080p content, some of them look really crappy to me... So would there be any way to turn off change the upscaling on a TV in order to display the 2x2 pixels directly (nearest neighbor interpolation)? Should be easy right? PS. This is actually my first post!

Whilst researching 4k TVs for playing pc games on with a controller, I found there was a real shortage of available experience of people having actually gamed on large 4k TVs. So here's a brief overview of my experience so far: The tv is the LG 42UB820v. It's a 42", LED, IPS UHD, smart television with a 60hz refresh rate. The image is incredibly sharp as could be expected and has amazing black levels thanks to local dimming. The Lag was not noticeable to me at all with game mode activated. I'm not a twitch gamer anyway and playing with a controller, I'm not really after precision. The TV is connected to the PC via HDMI 2.0. The PC is an ITX build featuring an Intel i5 4670, 8gb of 1600mhz ddr3 ram and a GTX 980 with a minor overclock. There are some oddities when connecting a PC to this 4k TV which I'm going to relate to driver issues. The mouse icons seem squished vertically and the TV shows up as having a native resolution of 1080p, yet shows as supporting resolution of upto 4096 x 2160p, despite 3840x2160p being the actual native resolution. Generally all games are played at 2160p with AA and motion blur disabled. So far I've played Far cry 4, red faction Armageddon, assassins creed unity, batman arkham city and train simulator 2015. A mixed bag of old and new games and a mix of game engines. The first thing to hit you is the image quality. Just wow! I sit quite close to my tv while gaming, but even if I sit further back, the image quality is noticeable past the 'limits of the eye' that are often thrown around in forums. And it's not just me that thinks this. A blind test was done a few mo this back that found approximately 80% of people could see the difference between 1080p and 4k at around 7-9ft: http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/4k-resolution-201312153517.htm You do not need anti-aliasing at 4k at all. It's redundant at 4k in my opinion. The GTX 980 was able to average 60fps in most gameplay at highest settings. All games other than Assasins creed stayed about 40fps at all times (to be fair Unity is a mess at 1080p). In far cry 4, I was noticing details I'd never seen before like the fabric texturing on clothing. The view distance seems increased as items in the distance are now far more detailed. In summery, I would never go back to 1080p gaming. I've had a 28" 4k monitor for a few months now, and I wasn't expecting to be blown away by the jump in resolution as much as I was. The larger screen size really shows off the advantages of 4k displays.
