  1. Hi All, I'm new to this forum. Signed up to see if anyone had any suggestions. I recently purchased the LG 65UH770V (http://www.lg.com/uk/tvs/lg-65UH770V) Then the EVGA NVIDIA GTX 1070 Founders Edition (http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=08G-P4-6170-KR) Both are compatible with HDMI 2.0. The Graphics Card is HDMI 2.0b and the TV is HDMI 2.0a. (Both compatible with 4k Res @ 60hz) For some reason, when using that setting on the PC. I get full screen flashing. Sometimes it'll be constant and I literally cannot use my PC. But sometimes it won't happen for hours.. There's the inbetween too, where it'll flash on/off once or twice and then not do it for ages. I have tried the suggested fixes for Windows 10 on/off flashing issues, no luck. Tried the suggestions for 4k@60hz flashing issues such as lowering refresh rate to 59hz, making sure the HDMI 2.0 UHD True Colour setting is on on my TV. (Still no luck) I've also tried reinstalling Windows 10 blank. But it was still happening. Completed uninstalled GTX 1070, and reinstalled drivers manually. Still no luck. I've changed from GTX 980 to GTX 1070 in the hope of solving this issue. But still nothing... Just here to see if someone can help out as it's very frustrating. Got a PC that can play 4k Games, got the TV. But still not having my chance to play games because of flashing issues. Thanks in Advance guys!
  2. Hey guys, im looking for a 4k monitor. I wont buy any monitor next 5-6 years. so i want to buy the best. I play games sometimes, but mostly i edit videos and watch many movies, coding and research on the internet. i sit front of the monitor 6-7 hours in a day. i heard lg's panel is the best but i dont know which to choose. can u help me? . thank u very much for now
  3. I just got an LG 31MU97 and want to run it 4096x2160@60 Hz plus my old monitor (Kogan 27" Cinema Display) at 2560x1440@60 Hz. I have a GTX 760 to run it. I won't be gaming. According to NVIDIA, it can run 4096x2160@60 Hz over DisplayPort, which I have successfully tested with only the LG connected. However, when I connect the Kogan over DVI, the LG defaults to 3840x2160@30 Hz and the Kogan runs at 2560x1440@60 Hz. Playing around with custom resolutions in NVIDIA Control Panel, I was able to achieve 4096x2160@51 Hz + 2560x1440@60 Hz. Is there something wrong with my setup? Should my GPU be able to run 4096x2160@60 Hz + 2560x1440@60 Hz, or is there some sort of bandwidth limitation, even though both resolutions are below the GPU's max? If there is a bandwidth limitation, how would you quantify it? Would a GTX 1050 Ti be able to do what I want? Thanks
  4. So I am looking at slowly building a 4K PC and would like to start with the CPU, RAM and Motherboard. Could anyone recommend a good combo?

  6. So, I have a 4K monitor, from LG, exactly which one I am not sure, but in about 75% of my programs, including games and Windows settings. However, in the remaining games and programs, such as gmod and Geforce Experience, it shows up as 1440 native. My specs are in the screenshot, and I have absolutely no clue why this is happening. It mainly just bothers me, as it looks like everything is still running in 4k. Any help is appreciated, ~Danny.
  7. I still have a 1920x1080 60hz monitor. i want to upgrade to 4K 60hz Monitor and i I want a Monitor with this specs Screen Resolution: 4K 60hz Max Response Time: 5ms IPS Panel Min Screen Size: 27 (32 max) For Gaming and content creation Budget: 400$ to 600$ Suggestions??
  8. I'm building a virtual pinball machine with my father during my semester break, if anyone has questions or suggestions feel free to comment. What I'm going for is basically a pinball machine, but with digital inputs and a pc in it to run simulation software. Instead of a playfield I'll be using a 4k, passive 3d ips tv, and old 32inch 720p ips tv for the backglass and a 22 inch monitor to simulate the dot matrix display. Ill also add headtracking via a 360 Kinect (so the playfield always the right viewing angle, I'm basically going for a hologram like feel coupled with the stereoscopic 3d), I might also add a tilt sensor and force feedback later on. For games Ill mostly use Future Pinball and Pinball FX2, I might also add some other arcade or racing games later. Ill recycle my media PC and put in a separate boot SSD for all the pinball stuff are, specs are: i7 930 @ 4.0 ghz 12gb corsair dominator ram 650w PSU 120gb ssd r9 280x vapor x 1 active DP 1.2 to hdmi 2.0 converter Parts List: pc: here anyway Playfield 4k3d tv: on hand Backglass TV: on hand, debezeled already......and it died, need a new one.....but it started working again DMD Monitor: on hand 3/4 inch mdf wood parts: Mostly sanded down and assembled, need some more holes, a coat of paint and maybe motive foils 2.1 sound system: on hand costum 90° circular polarized 3d glasses: done Arcade Buttons and controller board: some on hand, Ill need to order some special buttons that look nice Bally Pinball Legs: mounted Metal down and sidebar: idk if well use original ones or make some ourselves. Playfield and backglass tempered glass: Not ordered yet. Ball Plunger: Not ordered yet Coin door: Not ordered yet LED lighting and controller board: Not ordered yet Ventilation: needs to be installed Power Switch: needs to be installed properly Progress: Works + I have some tables configured the way I want to. Still bare and rough on the outside though. Next thing to do: install ventilation, change screen Position, beat my fathers highscore Some Pics of the cabinet: Update 10.02.17 Modified the cabinet, mounted the legs, some buttons, and the monitors, moved the pc + the sub inside the cab and got 4k 3d properly working in the Pinball fx2 arcade mode. After we moved the cab the old 32 inch backglass monitor stopped working. Maybe it got to hot, or it was old age, idk. Update 11.02.17: The 32 inch tv pulled a Lazarus on me and started woking again, I hope it stays that way. The basic functionality is working now....so I mostly spend my time playing instead of working :D. Here's a pic of pinball fx2 running on it. Update 14.02.17 The front end software is configured now, ill look into getting a metal frame and a playfield glass soon. Here's a little video showing off how it is configured atm. Update 15.02.17 Added some future Pinball tables and launch sounds for all games, with the right settings the Kinect tracking works very smoothly.
  9. alright, here is my "finalized" build for MY computer that I have aptly named Viribus. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/zsnnM8 I decided to just go with the Zotac 1080 extreme instead of waiting to see what the 1080ti brings. if worst comes to worst and I need more power I will just upgrade when the aftermarket 1080ti's come out or SLI another Zotac. what do you guys think? as an aside, is that power supply going to sufficient? I may (MAY) overclock the 6900k and don't want any instability.
  10. 4k

What is the best value 4k 60Hz+ monitor that you guys recommend? The one thing i dont need is size, my current 1080p monitor is 26" and i dont need much bigger though i undertsand in 4k the size may go up a little bit.
  11. Hello, could you guys recommend some 4k monitors that are semi-cheap/reasonably priced. i want to get an idea of some monitors that are good. here are my specs for the computer i want to build (things may change but the 1070 is solid) - https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4gqDM8 I will try to upgrade to a 1080, if my budget permits. Thanks!

  13. LTT Forums, Hey guys, Zera here. I'm a big time fan and long time lurker, first time poster. First, a little about me (FYI, if you are just interested in answering the question, skip to the second paragraph), I'm an ex-military member in the United States and currently attending the University of Arkansas for a Bachelor's in IT-Networking. I'm a part time content creator, youtuber, streamer and big time gamer. My current set up is a single 980 Ti, a 4790k air cooled with an aftermarket heat sink from Noctua, all Razer peripherals, Klipsch 2.1 speakers and lastly I run 3 ASUS 1080p monitors. This setup has done me wonders over the past few years, but I'm looking to up the ante when the 1080 Ti comes out and I was hoping to bounce some ideas off you guys. So, without further adieu, let's get right to it! So my next build I'm already starting to piece together. As for the processor, I am waiting to see how Ryzen does; however, I will be honest, I don't expect it to out do Intel. I hope it does, but the techie in me is pretty much convinced Intel's got something up it's sleeve specifically for Ryzen and once AMD releases their new "flagship processor," Intel's going to drop something that'll essentially negate AMD's meager attempt at crawling out of it's 20% hole in market shares. That being said, I'm leaning more towards something similar to the 7700k with fewer cores but with better single core performance than that of it's Broadwell-E cousins. As for the Graphics, you can already guess where I'm leaning. I most likely won't pick up the 1080 Ti when it initially comes out, I'll most likely wait a month or two so other manufacturers can get their hands on these cards and add their own custom heat sinks or OC them to higher base clock speeds. That being said, what I'm looking to get out of it would be 8k Display for viewing video and web browsing, while maintaining 4k resolutions for gaming at roughly 60-70 fps. The monitor I will be utilizing for this build will be none other than that Philips 43" 4k UHD IPS Panel Monitor. All the reviews on this thing say it's glorious and with only a 5 ms response time, it brings everything I need to the table. It doesn't support either G-Sync or Free Sync; however, with the fact that I will only be running a single card at this particular juncture, I don't think I'll be able to get more than 60-70 fps out of 4k gaming experience to begin with (to be honest, at ultra settings on everything I only expect a realistic 35-55 fps at any one point). So, here's my issue, with HDMI 2.1 being confirmed to handle speeds and connections of up to 8k at 60 hertz and the original 1080 being able to handle a maximum resolution of up to 8k (yes I know most games don't support it, but I wouldn't game at 8k anyway due to the sheer loss in frames). Do I simply invest in the 1080 Ti, HDMI 2.1 cables across the board and the Philips 43" UHD monitor and simply wait on an 8k display? Because to be honest, 8k doesn't exist right now for monitors in the commercial market. And I'm not sacrifices tens of thousands of dollars on a TV that's 8k due to the inherit input lag issues from a Television as compared to a dedicated Computer Monitor. Your thoughts gentlemen?

  16. Hello, I am new in this forums. I want to upgrade my current PC to one that is capable of 4K gaming. I don't want to spend a lot of money on this upgrade. Also,I do not want some High End PC. I want something that does great for 1080 gaming but can also do entry level 4K. Especially because after this upgrade I don't think to do another one, or build another pc in years. So I want something that is future proof but in budget. So the specs of my current set up are these: CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) X4 760K Quad Core Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.8GHz (with stock cooler) RAM: (1) Crucial ballistix 8GB lowprofile 1600 DDR3 adn (2) Crucial ballistix 4GB 1600 DDR3. Total of 16GB DDR3 memory GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 2GB. MOBO: Asus A88XM-A. PSU: Corsair CX430 80 PLUS Bronze. HDD: WD Blue 1TB at 7200 Rpm.(I want to get more space, either and SSD or another HDD). OS: Windows 10 Pro. So there it is; I would liek to upgrade the CPU(including the MOBO) and maybe the GPU, or any other that you recomend. so thank you so much for any suggestion!
  17. I've come into a role recently that has me editing a local film. Family has decided to buy me a computer as a gift for the job. The film group began shooting in 4K, but changed to 1080p halfway through, so I need a computer than can edit 4K footage. I would also like to do serious gaming on it. I'd also like to be VR ready. I've asked what my budget on this system is, claiming a 4K editing build may run over $1500 USD and they said "Just find out what would be perfect for you and we'll see what we can do." I've presented them with the following build and they gave me the go ahead to buy it. I wanted to keep it at a good value, but I need it to have no problem doing anything. Choosing parts seems the most daunting thing I've ever done. I've learned that a 4k video editing build needs a great processor and a healthy amount of RAM so I went big on those.. My biggest fear is buying all these parts and having some small mistake or oversight ruin everything. I also worry about having a build that's not perfectly optimized, having certain parts more powerful and other parts bottle-necking the performance. I already have a copy of Win7 that I've activated on maybe 3 computers so far with no problem. Should I go for Win10 or just continue with my Win7? If you have any suggestions, advice, anything will help. Thank you so much.
  18. Hello guys, and thanks for looking at this post! Looking to upgrade from 2 x 21.5" monitors, to a 40" 4K TV as the primary monitor. I have looked at a few TVs already from numerous providers, but can't pick which one i should go for, and need advice. My current graphics card is the GTX 660 Ti, which supports 4K. I will also not be doing any heavy gaming, and at max will play Fifa 16,WoW and some other low demanding games. This TV will mainly be for work related tasks. My budget is £400-450, and with that, I have chosen the following TVs that I find somewhat suitable, but need advice before purchasing! 19. So I recently built a new Gaming PC and for a while i played my games on my old Dell 1920x1080 screen. However, I recently upgraded to an "Acer Predator XB271HK" hoping to play with a 1440p resolution on the 4K screen and later play them at 4K when a capable and affordable 4K card comes out. I plugged it in via a Display Port cable to my GPU and checked the PC had all drivers up to date. I then attempted to change my screen resolution in the 'NVIDIA Control Panel' from (3840 x 2160 native) to (2560 x 1440) but my screen went black and a "no signal" message appeared. I tried to create a 'custom resolution' but when I tried to test it the screen still went black and the same message appeared. Both times the 'Refresh Rate' was at 60Hz. I was able to change my resolution to (2560 x 1440) in Windows settings but not in game. I decided to keep the display at the native resolution and attempt to change the resolution of games in the actual game menus. Once again the screen went black and the error message appeared. (Audio of game still plays in the background) I swapped out my DP for a HDMI 2.0 (https://www.amazon.co.uk/AmazonBasics-High-Speed-HDMI-2-0-Cable/dp/B014I8SSD0) and switched inputs on my monitor. I could now change to a lower resolution but only at a 30Hz refresh rate. Again I went into the 'NVIDIA Control Panel' and tried to change my refresh rate but the max available to me was 30Hz. I tried to customise but when I put in 60Hz and tested it the screen went black and the error message popped up. I am sure that the cable is High Speed 2.0 as it is written on the cable itself. DP: Cannot lower resolutiuon HDMI 2.0: Cannot get abover 30Hz All games run off Steam with the exception of Star Citizen which is the only game resolution I can change. (Not that it matters since their netcode is pretty bad with basically 6fps ) All games run in 4K albeit at an average of 32fps with the PC running at full pelt (Nothing is overclocked) I have tried launching games both in Steam and as .exe Games that I have tried: Just Cause 3 Hitman 47 No Man's Sky Planet Coaster Dying Light The Witcher 3 PC Specs: CPU: i7-6700k GPU: Zotac GTX 1070 Amp Extreme Edition RAM: 16GB OS: Windows 10 (x64) Storage: WD 250GB SSD / WD SSD 500GB Motherboard: Maximus VIII Hero Display: Acer Predator XB271HK 27 inch Wide screen Monitor (IPS, 4K, 16:9) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-Predator-XB271HK-screen-Monitor/dp/B0194Q8WC8 I have tried two different HDMI 2.0's and two different DP's yet I still get the same results I simply wish to play games at (2560 x 1440) at 60fps I have spent the past week visiting sites that report similar issues with a black screen but it is when they try to change to 4K and not from it. I am pretty sure it is not a GPU problem as the GPU has proven it can run games at both resolutions with the HDMI 2.0 albiet at a clunky 30Hz on the monitor. Sorry for the lengthy post, any help would be greatly appreciated.
  20. Hello to the wonderful LTT community! Greetings from a Canadian fan. I am embarking on the ever fantastic quest that is building a new PC. I am moving up in the world and am completely selling my old rig (Summary is: EVGA 1060 SSC, Intel Core i5-4570 3.2GHz (permanently running at 3.6 due to some tweaking), run of the mill 2tb HDD, 120Gb SSD, Corsair RM650W Gold PSU, 4x4 16GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz, GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-SLI LGA 1150 motherboard, and NZXT Phantom 240 case). "Why are you telling me these things?" you may ask! Well, ponder no longer! I am looking to the best techies on the web for some build suggestions here! Whether you're an avid custom builder and have experience to share, or you're a veteran of the industry, I want to hear it all! Any advice is appreciated! Don't be afraid to delve into specifics and technicalities, I'm a computer engineer so I won't be confused easily. The Purpose: Build an entirely new PC from scratch, for both an upgrade and a learning experience. The Usage: A gaming/Editing rig that can stand up to VR, and 2k Gaming, while being slightly proficient at 4k Gaming(50-60fps range or under, limit being 30fps). The Peripherals: Currently, I have a 24" 1080p monitor, and a 28" 4k monitor. Both are sub par, and the 4k monitor can only do 30fps, but is a great asset for my engineering work due to efficiency, and the 1080p monitor is a 5ms response time monitor. Nothing to brag about. I have an excellent mechanical keyboard, mouse, headphones, and microphone, so nothing needs to be bought in that department. At this point in time, I don't really need a new display, but a 2k g-sync capable display would be superb. If the build allows for it, maybe even 4k? The Specifics: CPU: I would like something possibly overclockable and in the i7 range of things. This is one category that I am definitely lost in. A K series for overclocking would be lovely, especially if I implement a water cooling solution, but definitely something that sits around the high 3's is a must. GPU: So this one is a bit tricky. As we speak, I actually have both an EVGA 1050 Ti SC and an EVGA 1060 SSC. I could end up selling the old pc with one or the other, based on advice on whether the 1060 SSC is a good enough card for a build of this kind. If not, I'll just sell it off. I would like to dish out a 1080 or 1070 if possible but everything is debatable. SLI is really not something I am looking for but if the card is capable of it, that is a plus I guess. PSU: This one really has no bearing to me. Given how the demand of the system will vary, but will be pretty high most of the time, a 750W or higher power supply with a Gold or platinum rating would be the most optimal. Case: I'm looking for either a mid or a full sized case. I'm a bit of a stickler for aesthetics so a good looking case is a must. My current case has 6 3.5" drive bays so I would like to keep that amount at least. Something with the space for water cooling is probably a good idea, given that that is the path I am thinking about for now. If it has LED's that's great, but I would like to get something that I can customize if needed. Something with at least two, not completely terrible fans would be nice aswell. RAM: Essentially, it has to be DDR4, and compatible with the rest of the board. I'm not really picky on specifics. At least 16Gb, and in any configuration needed for best cost(4x4 or 8x2) Motherboard: So I would like to have a half decent motherboard here, for the sake of future proofing, maybe an Asus Z170 ATX board or something of the sort. Doesn't have to support SLI although most boards of this tier do. Something with an isolated sound module would be nice however. Cooling: So this is where it gets debatable. I would like to do CPU liquid cooling, maybe something like the Corsair H100i v2 cooler, but I have never installed or maintained water cooling before. On the topic of case cooling, I am really not a stickler for noise, so usually case fans don't bug me, but if needed, I could do with some nicer fans if things will run a little too hot. Memory: An SSD and HDD mix is essential for this build, and right now, a 120GB SSD isn't the biggest. A 240GB SSD and a 2-4 TB HDD hard drive will most likely be the best combination. I might actually be snagging a 4TB Black 7200RPM drive with it's 5 year warranty for $125 on my local kijiji classifieds anyway, so that might end up as my main storage solution. Visuals: Overall, I would like to do some LED work if needed. I want the case to either glow, or be visually appeasing from the start. Thanks in advance guys! This is a pretty long term build, and I expect to be working from my laptop for a while during the build, and the buying won't start till I sell my previous rig, but I am definitely looking for solid advice and I've heard y'all are the best in the biz. Cheers, Dan
  21. So maybe once a month on average, i turn my PC on, and it boots into windows running at 3840x2160@30hz, not the glorious 60hz i expect. Irritatingly, the AMD settings panel has this notification but does not offer a solution; "we have detected a problem with your display link, so you may not be able to run desired resolutions and framerates" It's an easy fix i just reboot the PC and 99% of the time it fixes it, 100% of the time after 2 reboots, but clearly this isn't something i want to put up with. I'm running the latest driver, even though this problem has persisted through the last 4 or 5 drivers. I'm using a 1 meter Lindy Displayport 1.2 rated cable so that shouldn't be the problem, industry standard cable maker. used the shit one that came with the monitor to test that and it still did it the PB287Q doesn't magically switch into DP 1.1 mode when this happens, i have checked before kinda stumped, help anyone ?
  22. so on bf4 and bf1 there is a resolution scale slider. from native 1080p how at 100%, what percentage is 1440p and 4k? i know 1440p has about 78% more pixes than 1080p so would 1440p be 178% resolution scale?
  23. Recently built myself a water cooled 1060 i7 6700 k 32 GB unfortunately, for my school program I need a laptop. I've been on Kijiji and I have three options a straight trade for a 970m 4K 6700 HQ MSI ghost Pro A $300 train ride and straight trade for an Alienware 17 980m with 4K, 6820HK and 32 gigs of RAM Or a two hour car ride plus $500 4 on MSI 1070 6700 HQ laptop I'm strapped for cash but I know the 1070 is the best performer graphically is it worth it for first or second year CAD work in an architecture program? Is the lighter MSI laptops 4 pound weight a big enough difference? Open to suggestions
  24. Why..? Why the heck Linus? Enough of the exaggeration... Why do you shoot in ProRes, which is easy to edit and post process, he still transcoded the footage to Cineform? Is he just wasting time or something? For footages from GH4, 100 Mbps H264 UHD 29.97 fps, I get it. But for FS700 or FS5? It doesn't make ANY sense to transcode ProRes to Cineform. I guess. Can somebody please explain?
  25. Simple question, if my video is taken in 1080 is there any quality benifit in rendering it up to 4k in premiere or is it just a waste of time and space?
