  1. So I have been looking at this monitor for a little while and unfortunately Linus hasn't covered it as far as I know so I wanted to gather some opinions on it! What do you guys think of this monitor?
  2. What's up guys? So, my friend and I just opened a company and need a PC system that can easily run Premiere Pro CC to edit 4K footage on at least two 4K monitors. Let's assume a budget of around $2000, without any kind of peripherals. Thinking of sticking with Intel and nVidia for this one, even with the release of Ryzen. What would your specs sugestions be? Thanks in advance!
  3. At the end of the day, I would like to have a NAS (mainly for storage and backup, but also some streaming), an HTPC able to handle 4k (video playback, not necessarily gaming), and I already have my gaming rig that is capable for 4k gaming as well as VR. I am not sure of the smartest or most cost efficient way to do this, and am getting lost ready forums, watching videos, etc... I would like this to be as seamless as possible, and would like to not spend too much while still building a very solid setup. Current Rig Windows 7 3x512 SSDs 1x4 TB HDD 2x3 GB external HDD ASUS ROG Maximus VII Hero 980TI hybrid CX750M power supply i5-4690K OC'ed to ~3.9 (water cooled by Corsair H115 4x8 GB Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600 RAM This is currently being shared between my Samsung SUHD 4K TV, and several other monitors for gaming and regular use. I have thought about the Steam Link and other things but feel that a NAS and HTPC are a better long term solution. Ideally I would like to be able to spread out my systems through the house, and not suffer from wifi latency or anything like that. With a NAS is it essential to go with such a high end drive like a WD red or green? I would prefer cloning (Raid 0?) with slightly cheaper drives and then if one dies it isn't the end of the world. I would like to start off with around 4-8 TB for my NAS with room to expand. Being able to steam to other devices (phone, kindle, ipad) from NAS would be kinda nice but not essential. One thing I have been thinking about it (although it is a bit over my head ATM), would be to use virtualization to simply turn my gaming rig into a NAS (per the linus video), and then just build a reasonable HTPC but am just not sure if that is the way to go. I would like this to be reasonably simple to setup, with as little maintenance over time required as possible. Extra Parts I have to work with: EVGA 960 superclocked Corsair 500W psu 256 GB SSD i5-4690K Thanks for any help that you guys/gals can give! I'd be grateful from anything from common knowledge/tips, to complete build guides, or even options that I am not aware of!
  4. So, I have a Hisense ub40ec591, a 40" uhd tv which i am using with my gtx 980 and a highspeed hdmi cable. PROBLEM: it does not go over 30hz ultra hd without giving me a purple and green picture and cropping it. 30hz is no problem but anything above does not work (using hdmi 2.0 and the newest firmwares). Also i have quite some input lag. What could cause this problem? anything I can do with the nvidia control panel? or could the cable be the problem?
  5. I need to get a 4K TV that can also do 3D and that is not really expensive no more than $1,800 and that is also available in Canada and above 50 inches. I've been looking everywhere but I can't find anything. so if you know anything that could help me out I will really appreciate it.
  6. I've been hearing a lot of good things about the razer blade 14 but... I am not interested in gaming... I only want to video edit in 4K. Is the Razer Blade 14 good enough for HEAVY 4K edit? I'm talking about a 30 min video in 4K. If not, is the HP Z Book G3 a good laptop for 4k video editing? Which laptop would you recommend is best for 4K video editing? I am interested in performance, not portability; though...I still wouldn't buy an Alienware. Best laptop for 4K video editing?
  7. I had some free time to play with pc part-picker and this is what I came up with. If I had $20,000 would this setup make any sense or could I get better performance for the money Also does anyone know if e5 v3 boards are compatible with e5v4 cpu's? https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Vulcan_Knowledge/saved/vYBpgs
  8. Hi. I recently bought a GTX 1070 and I feel like my monitor (BenQ Rl2455hm, 60hz, 1080p) is not cutting it anymore. So I have been looking around at both 4k 60hz, 1440p 75hz and 1440p 144hz but cant really decide on which would be the best choice for me. I play games like H1z1, Forza Horizon (On Xbox one),GTA 5 and Call of duty on Xbox. My specs are: i5 4570 GTX 1070 8gb ddr3 And these are the monitors I have been looking at: https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-MG279Q-Monitor-Display-FreeSync/dp/B00VH3HO6C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1492797227&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+mg279q https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Computers-Accessories/ZOWIE-XL2730-Sports-Monitor-eQualizer-Adjustable-Vibrance/B01H07FVBS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1492797252&sr=8-1&keywords=Benq+xl2730 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-U28E590D-28-Inch-LCD-Monitor/dp/B00WUACE4S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1492797271&sr=8-1&keywords=samsung+u28e590d https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-PB277Q-Monitor-Flicker-Certified/dp/B01B6JD5A0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1492797291&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+pb277q
  9. Four days ago I got LG 27UD58-B that I ordered almost 2 weeks ago for 390€ but now I noticed I could get it for 320€. I am hesitating only because I'm unsure of the panel lottery - the one I have has no dead pixels and only tiny amount of backlight bleed in top left corner that is not disturbing or noticeable during use and minor ips glow that shows on full black screen in a dark room. I'm not sure if this is kind of quality is standard for this model... at the moment as I understand this panel is acceptable/ good. Is "rolling the dice" for a even better deal something worth doing? The caveat to this is that the one that I have atm has 3 year warranty as opposed to 2 year... is an extra year of warranty worth the price difference? *being broke and having dilemmas about one day worth of work sucks **the monitor I have starts making a very high frequency pitch when left on standby for ~30min and the PC is turned off but is very low volume (i can hear if i go to sleep at night as a barely audible high pitch white noise) ***I've added images of the monitor in turned on state @ 60 brightness and contrast and turned off for comparison
  10. Hi, I wanting to get a GPU but I wanted to know how much VRAM do you need for Gaming at the Following Resolutions: 1080p 2k (I have a 2k Monitor) 1440p (Run it on a 4k TV?) 4K
  11. I just got my self a new 4k tv, I was wondering witch one is better for gaming? 4k/60fps at 10bit with 4:2:2 or 4k/60fps at 8bit with 4:4:4/RGB full range? am not going to give up 60fps for 4:4:4/RGB at 10bit.
  12. Hi! (look at my profile picture) Been using a Samsung U28D590D for about one and a half years. It was a good monitor for a reasonable price and i loved it. But last year it began to give me a problem where the display flickered and turned on and off constantly so I RMAd it. Now i'm getting a chance to upgrade to a better monitor since Samsung damaged the item while it was in their care and I got them to give me a cash refund for the full 560 dollar purchase price! So i got a few options for a monitor upgrade For my gaming machine running a Palit GeForce GTX 980Ti SJS. 1. Acer Predator XB281HK (28", 4K 60Hz , TN panel, 1MS, G-Sync enabled) - Fast 1Ms response time due to TN panel but sub-par color reproduction and viewing angles. __________________________________________________________________ 2. Dell P2715Q (27", 4K 60Hz, IPS, 6MS, No G-Sync) - Great sharpness due to high PPI from smaller size and amazing color reproduction from IPS display but 6 times slower with a 6Ms response time. Also, 1 inch smaller than what i'm used to. __________________________________________________________________ 3. ASUS PB287Q (28" 4K 60Hz, TN Panel, 1MS - No G-Sync) - TN panel again, which means faster but less accurate colorspace. But no G-Sync so this is almost the worst choice of the three monitors. But much cheaper than the other two. __________________________________________________________________ .... Any display gurus wanna give me some advices? I am very familiar with the specifications AND the pros and cons that those specifications present. What i wanna know is which of these options will look and perform the best in the real world. Things like would i notice a 5Ms slower response time, or do i really need to have high viewing angles or super accurate color reproduction...etc.. Thanks SO much for your help! <3
  13. Hey Guys, So I am building my first PC and need some help with monitor selection. I plan on running a GeForce GTX 1070 as my GPU, for a gaming/all around purpose. I don't have the budget to go big with my monitors however, as I would like a dual monitor setup. SO I have to choose, between a higher resolution monitor, or a monitor with Gsync. But I don't know which would be more beneficial for a casual gaming setup. The last thing I want is tearing on a 4k monitor I dumped a ton of money into but cant play even basic games. Any help or opinion would be great. Thanks!
  14. Hey, i am getting a tv to put on top of my gaming rig, and as I watch videos while gaming quite often, I was wondering if I should connect the (4K) tv to the integrated graphics in order to make it not influence my games, and to avoid the games making my video lag. My current displays already force the graphics card to push 4960x1600, and I feel like a 4K video on top of that will just butcher the system too much. My my rig is as follows: i7 7700k 32 gb (2x16gb) 2666mhz corsair lpx MSI z270i Gaming Pro Carbon 480gb corsair force metric tons of disk drives stuck in random places, some via data, some via network, some via USB R9 Nano Silverstone Fortress FT03 mini Dell 2007fpb x2, 3007wfp, +some 4K tv (soon)
  15. So a year or so ago I got a Yamakasi M280PU Perfect Pixel, which is a 4K monitor. Thing is, it's only $300 (US). It felt really sketchy buying something from a company I've never heard of before, but I was surprised that it actually worked. Here are the specs: 4K UHD 3840 x 2160 60 Hz 28" 3 HDMI Ports 1 DisplayPort Picture in picture Picture by picture TN panel Some other stuff... It is worth noting that in order to get 60 Hz in 4K, you must use the DP. HDMI at 4K is limited at 30 HZ. Also, the monitor setting menu will disappear after 15 seconds if you press the menu button, so you have to be fast in changing your settings. The stand is a little bit wobbly, but it does the job. It does have a VESA mount if you want something more sturdy. The backlight bleed is actually not bad, and I haven't had any dead pixels. My only true complaint about this monitor is the stand: The bottom of the stand will leave highlighter-yellow circles on your desk, but they can be easily removed using a wet paper towel. Two months ago, I purchased 3 more of these for my racing setup, and the cost of the three monitors together was about the same if you were to get one name-brand (Samsung or whatever) 4K monitor. Sure, they might not be your MasterRace UltraWide Curved Monitors, but in reality, having a triple 4K monitor setup at the same price as a single 4K monitor is a real win.

  17. I cant say, I have ever posted my own topic to a forum before. So I hope I am putting this post in the right place. I recently purchased a ROG Strix GL702VM Gaming Laptop in the 7700HQ series with the 1060GTX with 6GB of GDDR5. I upgraded the M.2 SSD to a Samsung PRO 960 M.2 NVMe 512GB and installed 32GB of HyperX Ram to give it more juice to work with. While I was upgrading these things I thought why not get a new monitor while I'm at it. I now have a shiny new ASUS PG27AQ UHD 4K IPS monitor. (Thanks to the video review Linus did on it) I wanted to utilise the Mini-DisplayPort on the laptop to drive the 4K monitor as it (and the Thunderbolt 3 port I think) is the only way to enable the G-Sync on the monitor. However when I connect the Mini-DisplayPort to DisplayPort 2m cable in, the only options I get for resolution are 1024x768 or 800x600 (Note: the cable was aftermarket and only $8 so it wouldn't surprise me if that is the issue but I want to make sure its nothing else before investing in yet another cable). I can get the monitor to work properly with a HDMI with resolution 1920x1080 at 60Hz or 3840x2160 at 24Hz. (And no G-Sync support) I would much prefer to utilise what I paid the $$$ for in the monitor but I cant seem to work out what the problem is. I have, - made sure the drivers are up to date - checked if it was a setting on the monitor - looked up to see if anyone else was having this issue with this monitor but all I keep getting are reviews on how good the monitor is rather than anyone having any display issues. - looked up the specifications on the Mini-DisplayPort on the laptop is capable of and it seems to support it, especially considering the laptop explains to you that G-Sync will only work via that port (and or Thunderbolt 3, again I think) - looked up on the GTX 1060 6GB to see if it is capable of driving such a monitor. The Nvidia website seems to only list up to the Titan X to support 4K but I do believe that list is out of date considering there is no way a GTX 1080 wouldn't support 4K, and as I mentioned earlier it will push the resolution via HDMI just at a terrible refresh rate. (And no G-Sync) - I also got my old portable optical drive out to spin up the CD the monitor came with, just in case there was some specific driver I needed to install on the computer but all it had on it was the Manual (which was zero help with this issue) and a outdated Nvidia Driver. - As a last ditch attempt to work it out, I factory reset the laptop as I didn't have much on it yet anyway and that still didn't fix the issue. I only have a few ideas on what it could be but I just don't know enough to make a proper decision. Coud it be, - the $8 cable is just terrible and I should get a better one? - the cable too long? It's 2m - 'Active DisplayPort Cable' issue? I remember way back when I used DisplayPort last time I had issues with this, could this be a similar issue? - I should be using a Thunderbolt 3 to DisplayPort cable instead Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. I don't want $1350 worth of monitor to be wasted on HDMI 1980x1080 60Hz with no G-Sync.
  18. This ultimate build guide is all about getting a great gaming experience at 4K. It's a no-compromises machine... but one that also doesn't just dump money down teh toilet for the sake of it, so while there might (read: will) be stuff out there that's a better bang for the buck, every piece of this monster DOES have a purpose. I'm going to list out the components as well as provide a source or two for where you can get them I can't tell you where to buy this stuff, but I do lean towards NCIX for the Canadians (and International viewers if their pricing and shipping costs work out for you) because they're my bros, and for Americans, Brits, and a couple other regions, the Amazon links below are affiliate links, so of course every little bit helps CORE COMPONENTS CPU: Intel Core i7 4930K Unlocked Six Core Processor with HyperThreadingNCIX: http://bit.ly/1p6D7s2Amazon: http://georiot.co/1Ovg SSD: 2x Intel 730 Series 480GB SSDs in RAID0NCIX: http://bit.ly/1spvpKRAmazon: http://georiot.co/1R5P Motherboard: ASUS X79 DeluxeNCIX: http://bit.ly/1nn5DR2Amazon: http://georiot.co/kqx Case: Corsair Obsidian Series 760TNCIX: http://bit.ly/1p6DiDPAmazon: http://georiot.co/Ehk Video Card: Dual GeForce GTX 780 Ti Reference Cards in SLI NCIX: http://bit.ly/1kBJXGq Amazon: http://georiot.co/hAW RAM: 32GB G.SKILL 2400MHz Quad Channel DDR3 NCIX: http://bit.ly/1zPPr3wAmazon: N/A Power Supply: Cooler Master V Series 850WNCIX: http://bit.ly/1pVaf2vAmazon: http://georiot.co/1DHk Mouse: Corsair Raptor M45 NCIX: http://bit.ly/1zPPvjHAmazon: http://georiot.co/1ha2 Keyboard: Ducky Shine 3NCIX: http://bit.ly/1onmuDmAmazon: http://georiot.co/lbJ Headset: Audio Technica ATH-AG1NCIX: http://bit.ly/1sp3hX6Amazon: http://georiot.co/Nre Monitor: ASUS PB287Q 60Hz 4K TN LCDNCIX: http://bit.ly/1nn6ambAmazon: http://georiot.co/3ken Cooling Components CPU Heatsink: Corsair H110 Dual 140mm Liquid Cooler NCIX: http://bit.ly/1o9zKR3Amazon: http://georiot.co/3uYM Extra Fans: Bitfenix Spectre Pro LED FansNCIX: http://bit.ly/1o9zTE4Amazon: http://georiot.co/a9Y
  19. Hello all, the time has come for me to upgrade my ancient 660ti system with 3770k. Below I will list what I'm looking at currently for my build, I will be mainly using this system for gaming, possibly 4k, Alongside Streaming+Editing. Unsure yet, prices are still quite high regarding displays. Price budget will be around the same as what I have picked out on Partpicker, alongside a 144hz Monitor for now. - Any things you would Remove/Add to lower the costs or alter performance please let me know, any advice appreciated. Lets get started! CPU i7 7700k Unlocked - 4.2 Cooler Kraken x62, mainly for aesthetics, I was told on another forum that these coolers are rubbish for the price and I'd be better off going for the h220 x, problem is I cant mount it to the top like its supposed to be mounted with the case I want (See below). Case NZXT s340 Elite - White Memory Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 8x2gb 3200. GPU 1080Ti - Not sure which custom card to go for here, saw the benchmarks and they are all similar give or take -/+ 3 fps. I was looking at the SC EVGA Black edition, saw it only has 2 fans though as apposed to the 3 from STRIX and FTW3, would this have much of an impact? Storage 960 Evo 512gb - Is this overkill? I don't want to buy it just because its the newest on the block in a sense. WD 1TB HDD MOBO MSI z270 m5 Gaming PSU EVGA Supernova G3 650W - Will this be enough for OC of GPU and CPU? Current Watts from PC.PP are 470. I will add some RGB Fans for single colour coordination. I will post the link to PC.PP So you can see the pricing as well as change bits about if necessary, thanks for reading. https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/QDnksJ
  20. So in my current setup my main screen is a 32'' 1080p TV and i wanted to upgrade to 4K. i was thinking getting a 4K TV because they are cheaper is there any reason i should get a 4K monitor instead?
  21. Hey guys, so my friend asked me if I could build him a pc for video editing purposes only. I said yeah, but his budget is US $800. I was thinking of getting him the Ryzen 1600x, but I just wasn't sure about the GPU. Would I need to put something pretty powerful in in order for him to edit 4k, or can something like a 1050ti be good enough for that purpose? I built a gaming pc for myself, but I don't edit videos, so I wouldn't know what is needed for 4k editing. I'll put a list of the specs I was thinking of below, let me know what you think. CPU: AMD Ryzen 1600x Cooler: Stock Motherboard: ASRock AB350M Pro4 Micro ATX AM4 Ram: 2x8GB DDR4 (whatever is the cheapest at the time) HDD: WD Blue 1TB SSD: PNY CS1311 120GB or whatever is cheaper and reliable GPU: GTX 1050ti Case: Cheapest I can find Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze' Right now, the price would be around US $735.
  22. As the title says, I'm looking for a budjet 4k HDR TV mostly for movies but the odd gaming session on the couch. Hoping to get a 50" or about that size for under $1200AUD. (Around $900USD) I really have no idea with what screens to consider. I went and checked a few local shops around town to have a look at some in person but only one shop actually had 4k content playing on their screens but had nearly no stock so the rest was useless to compare. Would prefer a brand like Sony, Samsung, LG or other more know brands but not essential I don't need any smart TV stuff, if it has it fine but I'm not worried at all if it doesn't have any. I would prefer a 60hz screen but I can live with a 50hz So fair the only screens that looked decent are the Samsung series 6 50" panel and the Hisense 50" HDR panel but I'm not sure about the Hisense as I've seen reviews saying the HDR isn't great and doesn't work on all inputs. It seems there is a lot of misinformation when it comes to HDR and I seen that the new HDR Premium standard has been released so it would be nice it it has that. Thanks
  23. UPDATE 17.04.17: Digital Foundry have done 2 deep dives into the processor architecture and the cooling/construction of Scorpio Architecture deep dive http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2017-the-scorpio-engine-in-depth Cooling/construction http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2017-project-scorpio-hardware-deep-dive New images of all components apart from the plastic shell UPDATE 11.04.17: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2017-project-scorpio-supports-freesync-and-hdmi-vrr In an article released today digital foundry has release more details regarding the variable refresh rate capabilities of the console. The article confirms that project scorpio includes a full freesync 2 implementation over hdmi 2.1. Hdr Variable refresh from sub 30fps to 60fps This should be great! Consoles have sorely needed variable refresh in recent years, as the article states this could mean developers no longer have to target a full 60fps if it isnt possible but they still have headroom at 30fps. I don't have experience with it myself but I assume 45fps freesync is noticeably better than 30fps. I wonder what the cost will be like? Expecting them to drop the VR compatibility bombshell at E3, but apart from that this just confirms all the detective work that Digital Foundry have done. The only slight surprise is the utilisation of the ancient Jaguar cores, I guess this was done for compatability reason but it's disappointing. From the PS4 Pro coverage by DF the CPU seems to be a bottleneck in many situations so I don't see how the Scorpio will alleviate this, hopefully the use of D3D12 is better at utilising that CPU than the PS4's OGLES implementation. 24. Hi all Been a long time since I posted on here. Many years have flown by. Anyways to the point. I am the lucky owner of 3x 4k Asus monitors. I am currently running a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 G1 Gaming OC 8GB with allow me to play 4k game very reasonably. But clearly not at 11520x2160 Resolution. I am happy to gaming at 50 to 60fps. Before I forget I am on X99 platform with a Intel i7 6800k@ 4.1ghz. So the question is do I buy a single 1080ti, a second 1080 (SLI) or even two 1080ti (this option would be done in two stages)? Thanks AJ Ps Profile System updated so far
  25. I've been looking into 4k gaming and was just wondering if now is the time to buy or if I should wait for prices to drop (If they are expected to). I'm guessing they are going to rise since consoles are pushing for 4k (Project Scorpio) and manufactures are going to raise prices to catch that cash flow... I don't know
